  1. Player Name: Cliff Steele Characters Name: The Piranha Alternate Identity: Tom Tanner Height: 5' 9" Weight: 190 lbs Hair: None Eyes: Black Description: The Piranha is a freakish looking, hairless, scaly humanoid with webbed toes and fingers, which also have sharp claws. Gill slits line either side of his neck. His shiny black eyes seem to be too far apart, and a short, fin-like structure runs from the top of his head to his lower back. His mouth is oversized and crammed full of razor-sharp teeth. He wears a pair of simple black swim trunks and nothing else. History: Growing up on Florida's Gulf Coast, Tom Tanner always loved the water. It was no surprise - his grandfather and father before him had been champion swimmers and US Navy frogmen. He followed in their footsteps, winning the Florida high school state swimming title shortly before he enlisted in the military. He soon became a military diver, training in demolitions and related work. But during a covert mission abroad, things went horribly wrong. An explosive device he and his team were carrying to take out an enemy ship detonated prematurely, blowing up a tanker that had been secretly carrying enemy chemical weapons. The rest of the unit died, but a rescue team managed to get to Tom in time. The chemicals wrought all sorts of damage to his body, and his only hope was an experimental treatment involving genetic material taken from a fish. Tom lived, but he was no longer the man he had been. The combination of the chemicals and the mutations triggered by the treatment turned him into a warped amalgamation of fish and man. He went crazy when he realized what had happened and attacked several people before escaping into the ocean. For some time, he wandered the waters of the world, slowly coming to terms with what had happened to him. He always had been a patriot and a believer in doing the right thing. It finally dawned on him that his powers could be used for good. Unsure of where to go, he thought of Freedom City, a bastion for metahumans. He recently has arrived in the area, swimming up and down the rivers that surround the city, trying to decide what his next move should be. He has decided that now he will be called the Piranha. 3. OK, I am putting the finishing touches on my character and have question regarding a possible drawback/complication I'm considering. My PL 6 character The Piranha is a US Navy diver turned amphibious man-fish-thing that fights with sharp claws and teeth. In order to capture some of the frenzied nature of the fish for which he's named, I thought it might be interesting if when faced with extreme physical duress (say when he is Staggered), he must make a Will save or involuntarily go into a frenzy I'm thinking that means he rages and the damage from his teeth and claws can only be lethal. Now obviously this could help him during some tough battles, but it also could lead to all sorts of problems. Is this potentially a drawback, or is it really just a complication? It doesn't seem to fit any of the drawbacks in the book. I would love to know what our referees - and everyone else, for that matter - think about this. Thanks!

  8. Yes, that was a baseball game. More than anything, I'd just like to see an exciting, competitive series.

  13. I am a Yankees fan and normally would root for the American League team, even the Red Sox. But in this case, the Rockies seem like such an underdog that I can't help but hope they can pull it out. It would be sort of like when the Marlins beat the Yankees a few years back. And speaking of the Marlins (or in this case a former Marlin), man, how good is Josh Beckett?

  18. Hi, everyone. I saw your post over on the Atomic Thinktank and had to check it out. This looks like a great idea, as it will provide players with lots more options than a standard game. For instance … I have an amphibious hero who really is at his best in the water. Such characters can be virtually useless in a group game that doesn’t hit the right settings. But here, he would have a chance to be in his element. I plan on submitting the character later today. Thanks for creating this great site! :D
