  1. They're all perpendicular - as far as you can see. Yours came up until it leveled off, about forty feet from the intersection.

    Sorry about the interrogation.

Don't be. It's tough to know what's in the other guy's head, (especially mine  ) so don't worry if you need me to clarify things.

  2. Sorry, I should have been clearer. There are six entrances to this area, not counting the two fans. All have the red eyed... creatures in them. The fans are above and below you, gated off by fencing. Unfortunately, you can't tell how far up and down the passages are, since it's too dark in there. You do have about ten feet to work with, since the intersection is fairly big.

Yes, you can throw your knives, but you'll suffer the same "prone fighting" penalty you would if you tried to fight in hand to hand.

You're not exactly sure how long it will take before whatever is coming at you will be there, but it should take at least a few rounds. Whether or not they have distance weapons is unknown by you at the time, though.

  3. Okay, new one up. Spooky, eh? ;)

The eyes are about fourty feet away from you on all sides, and are moving relatively slowly. You still can't straighten up, since the ceiling is only about four feet in the intersection, up from three in the shafts themselves.

    Any other questions?

  4. The two traveled in companionable silence, only the sounds of quiet breathing and scuffling hands and knees on metal broke in on their awareness. Dull red lamps, emergency lighting, was the only thing to see by, meaning Nightrival had barely more than a few feet between lamps of visible distance before being plunged into darkness again. Grimalkin had it much better than her mentor, but she was still haunted by her near-death experience at the muzzle of the Warden's guns.

Before long, the crawlway started sloping upwards - a good sign, considering they were still underground. Finally, the single shaft opened up into an intersection. Large metal fans from above and below, fortunately walled off by metal grates, circulated air into the facility, presumably from the surface. Before they could choose a direction to go in, however, the sound of metal on metal echoed throughout the larger room. Tiny clanks, like small blades tapping against the steel floor - coming closer. From out of the darkness, red eyes began to show up at the end of every shaft... and all of them were converging on the pair.

  5. Crossbeams of visible light flashed out of the turrets lining the walls, stabbing at the two heroes as they made their mad dash towards the hole Nightrival had found. For the few agonizingly long seconds from one point of relative safety to the other, the room was light up with a cacophony of light and sound unseen outside of the Normandy landing... or at least, very good recreations of it. Metal droplets flew through the air, flash burnt off of the barriers hemming the two in by bolts of killing power. Thunder and heat buffeted them both, Grimalkin most of all, and for one brief moment, it seemed as though several beams were going to rend her limb from limb-

And then she was through the hole, nearly flattening Nightrival as the dark avenger came up short on the other side of the wall. He had no choice, really, because there was another wall barely a couple feet in front of him. The passage they were in now was some sort of maintenance tunnel - too small for humans to work in, but not too small for the two heroes to crawl through. The way ahead was nearly pitch black, barely enough for even Grimalkin's keen eyes. However, there did seem to be at least some light up ahead.

  6. ...But it'll be an entertaining doom

And it will be, too! ;)

Congrats, Dr. A. I really can't think of a better administrator out of our current crop of players. It's a shame that Barnum had to leave, (we miss you!! ) but it's a heck of a lot better than someone like me coming to power here. *Cringes*

    Anyway, congrats again, man.

  7. "Some kinda day, huh? Or night, or whatever it is. God, all I want to do is sleep; time lag has jet lag beat to all hell, that's for sure."

"That's a good point," Ren said, taking a cue from Lynn and scuffing up his clothes a bit to make himself look more "downtrodden". "We've been running on adrenaline for a while now. Once we get to someplace safe, we're definitely going to need some downtime." A lie, but if Lynn was feeling the drain, it would probably be appropriate for him to make like he needed sleep as well.

    "...How 'bout you?"

"Actual media," Ren answered immediately. "I feel cut off here without being able to... well, check things out. And I get the feeling that network television is going to consist mainly of the 'We Love Omega' hour reruns." He looked to Rant as he followed along behind the man. "How about it? Anything good on TV these days?"

  8. My idea is to have like an undersuit that technomagically turns into power armor around what he is wearing. It can be taken away. That's why I thought Device.

It's a piece of technology, but that doesn't necessarily mean Device. Take the drawback "Needs to be able to speak" in order to use magic. The person always has access to it, unless they can't speak. With the concept you're talking about, you always have use of it unless you get knocked out and have it taken off of you. What Dr A was talking about would actually be better for simulating that - take Normal Identity instead of a Device.

  9. Would Quick Change be enough to cover a suit that looks like clothes then a full body costume?

Not really. What you're talking about would be the Power Loss drawback, not a device. A device means it can not only be taken away from you, but you have to keep it with you if you want to use it. You can't simply snap your fingers and have it jump into your hand, (or "suit up") and still call it a device.

Can I buy 12 ranks of Protection if my PL6 guy has -1 Toughness?

    EDIT: Folkert answered that.

Cold Noticeable be put on a power on a Device?

EDIT: Er... I might have been too hasty saying no. What were you thinking of?

  10. Bright red strobes flashed through the slits in the bunker, creating stark lines of light across Nightrival's face. Dull thumps echoed inside, shaking the enclosure from the force of incoming fire. The situation was made even worse by the noxious smell of burning concrete that threatened to overwhelm Grimalkin's sense of smell. She was already working through her last nerve, and being stuck inside a pillbox being hammered from outside wasn't helping.

Then, all of a sudden, the fusillade of energy bolts stopped. The air grew close and still in the wake of the pregnant pause in destruction. It was possible the turrets had simply lost track of the two heroes... or maybe they were waiting for them to poke their heads out.

  11. "Jeez, dude! I was deep in thought back there!" She runs a gloved hand through her short spiky hair and laughs morosely. "Actually I was standing there feeling frightened, spastic and completely overwhelmed. I dunno, I guess I could try to track Foreshadow." She points to her nose. "Though wanna bet he doesn't sweat? Probably had all his pores surgically removed; he's that dedicated."

"Deep in thought? You?" Nanowire snorted jokingly, though in his metallic form it came out as all inflections did - as a metallic growl, albeit a lighter growl than normal. To show he was kidding, he held up his massive hands in a warding gesture. "How can I be sure you haven't been replaced by your evil twin, hmm?"

"We're going that way. You either got to lose that armor or turn on stealth mode."

Against his better judgement, Nanowire nodded at Rant's suggestion. He had no idea what he'd be up against if he decided to go in with full battle regalia, and had no real desire to find out. The polycarbonite substance sloughed off of him at Ren's mental command, literally melting into a pile of unrecognizable junk in a matter of seconds. "All right, done." Ren took an uneasy look around. "I don't suppose you'd tell us about these Nihilists? How to recognize and avoid them, perhaps?"
