    Backlash (OOC)

I'll have him take a breather and skip my turn.
  2. The hit connected and had sent Liquify a good distance. "Ahhhhhh" He screamed as he hit the ground with a splat, shaping back into a regular form as stars circled around him. Unable to move, he took a breather as the puddle he made started flowing back into him. What happened?... He thought as his senses slowly came back to him. The last thing he remembered was not taking out the thug and a large black shadow moving towards him before he saw stars. He hadn't taken a blow like that before, most street thugs weren't as tough and only used bats. Even the damage from bullets were easy for his gel to deflect. Finding out that he wasn't invincible was a bit of a shock. While his vision cleared he saw the other hero make an attack on the villain and big thug. I've gotta help. I can't just sit here and... Liquify tried to move up but sloshed back into the ground, having difficulty pulling himself together.

    Backlash (OOC)

Shoot, I thought I was waiting on you. I made the roll for the save, but it didn't seem to get posted.... Toughness Save from Big thug's attack: 1d20+7 15 I failed it by 6.
  4. Liquify dodged the big thugs attack as a fist came towards him. His body bended around the heavy arm and snapped back after the thug pulled his fist back. Whew, that looked like it would have hurt. He took a second to plan out his next attack on the big thug when the others dropped their guns and ran for the van. "Oh no you don't!" Liquify yelled as he threw a punch at the thug making his way towards the van's door. The long arm hit the guy in the gut, but this time the thug rolled with the attack, not taking any damage. As Liquify's arm slowly retracted back, he thought to himself, Damn it! They're gonna get away. I better hurry up and.... Liquify lost his train of thought when he turned his direction back to the big thug and realized he left himself wide open for a hit. He closed his eyes as the attack closed in. This is gonna hurt.

    Backlash (OOC)

Attack on the thug running to the driver's seat: 1d20+7 13 DC 22 if it hits?
  6. Liquify looked down as one of the bullets glanced off of him and exclaimed, "Good thing I'm a liquid or that could have really hurt. Either way you're gonna regret shooting me when I'm done with the big guy." He then turned his focus back on the dazed thug. "Alright! Here's another serving!" Liquify winded up another punch and slammed into the big thug. There was a faint grunt when the punch hit. He pulled his arm back, and even though the attack had a clean hit, it didn't even seem to affect him. A little shocked, Liquify said out loud, "Uhhhh... you are tougher than I thought. I should stop playing around." However in reality Liquify wasn't pulling any punches. Coiled Lighting didn't look like he was having any better luck with his opponent. I better deal with these thugs fast. I don't want him to deal with the super-villain all by himself. Really need to step up my game if I want to do this right.

    Ranger

Work in Progress for my second character. I think I have most of the ideas fleshed out, but looking for suggestions for balance and other ideas. Player Name: Gankun Character Name: Ranger Power Level: 10 (150/150PP) Trade-Offs: Attack +3 / Damage -3, Toughness +2 / Defense -2 Unspent Power Points: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: High tech bounty hunting power suit crash landed and fell into the hands of a hotshot police officer. Alternate Identity: Rubin Powers Also Known as: HunterMech, Identity: Secret Birthplace: New Jersey Occupation: Police Lieutenant (on leave), Affiliations: Freedom City Police Department Family: None Description: Age: 25 (DoB: Year 1989) Apparent Age: N/A Gender: Male Ethnicity: Hispanic American Height: 6ft Weight: 180 lbs Eyes: Brown Hair: Brown Rubin is a young attractive male in peak shape. As a police office in a city of meta humans, he trains to be in top physical condition, muscular, yet lean. He has short brown hair and a shaved face with handsome eyes. He normally goes out (when not in his police uniform) wearing dark brown pants and a long jacket. Power Descriptions: Though talented for a human being, Rubin has no powers of his own. He has a solid aim and is quick allowing him to fight back against meta-human criminals, however that can only get him so far. To fight, he uses the HunterMech power suit, a pretty much one of a kind battle suit designed with everything a police officer could ever need. As a bounty hunting suit, the armor is fitted with state of the art tech not available on Earth. The suit is armed with a laser bow that fires energized plasma bolts with different settings for sniping, rapid fire, and snare. The bow is even fitted with explosive missiles, but has limited ammo for this. The suit contains an exoskeleton capable of increasing the user's strength and reflexes. The Helmet contains a visor for tracking down targets as well as a heads up display for targeting shots with the Laserbow and analyzing the surroundings. A flight system gives the user flight up to 100 mph with a communication's array for relaying messages. The suit provides life support to enable bounty hunting in all environments. To help in the hunt, the power suit contains a cloaking device to get in as close as possible. For defense, the suit is made with exotic, very durable metals. The armor plating protects the user to allow them to focus on the offense rather than constantly dodging. To aid in bounty hunting, the power suit is equipped with a large database to use on all assignments. The database syncs with a translator chip to allow the user to understand any language in the system with reading and listening. It also converts anything said by the user to Galactic Standard if turned on. Additionally the database has enough intel on major players, wanted outlaws, and galactic locations. History: Rubin Powers was the son of a police sergeant of Freedom City who was killed by a meta-human bank robber who didn't hold back with his powers. Rubin was only 8 when he lost his father and from that moment on he wanted to become the best cop to avenge his father and help protect the city his father died for. He was a star athlete and student and became the top of his class at the police academy. He graduated from the academy alongside his childhood friend Jack Johnson. Johnson had been there for him since his dad died, from high school to the academy. The two were close and were unstoppable as a pair. For humans in a city of super villains, Powers and Johnson were able to go toe to toe with bad guys other officers couldn't touch. Powers had a good shot and detective while Johnson could catch any detail and provided great cover fire. Powers and his partner stuck fear in the hearts of the street thugs roaming the streets for years. However this all changed one day during a regular patrol. Powers and Johnson received a call about some strange lights and sounds coming from the local dock. They pulled up to the dock and went to check out the lights beaming from a nearby cargo crate. However, rather than street thugs, the pair were greeted by a band of space bandits. Powers and Johnson knew how to handle average thugs and maybe even low level meta humans, but these bandits were on a whole new level. The energy rifles made short work of the metal crates the officers were taking cover behind. Powers managed to disarm two of them, but the third guy got a shot right into the chest of Johnson. Their standard issue vests would have stopped a bullet, but the energy blast went right through the Kevlar. Powers lost a brother that night and the alien got away with whatever he was looking for. Powers wasn't quite the same ever since. For the first time the duo weren't strong enough to stop the bad guys. All his life he trained to fight back against criminals or even meta humans, but wasn't able to save Johnson. He was sent on leave after the loss, the police therapist suggesting he take it easy for a while. HunterMech HunterMech, a discontinued line of power suits made for a major crime lord in the galactic underground. Only three suits were said to be made, the resources needed for them were considered to be far too expensive for the benefits of one super weapon. While research was spent into an army of more affordable battle suits, the remaining suits were given to bounty hunters in the service of the crime lord. The suit's image became infamous through most of the galaxy as a hunter that showed no mercy. Highly deadly and armed with a powerful laser bow, the name HunterMech struck fear into those that knew its power. Over the years however, the suit was "inherited" or stolen by other hunters or outlaws seeking the weapon. Though not all of the users were outright evil, most associate the suit itself with a merciless killer. Most official galactic police forces recognize that warrants and bounties apply to the user themselves, not the suit. Though with the user's identity hidden, most forces just place the bounties on the suit. It is still unknown as to why the power suit happened to be in the same space as Earth, but a nearby vessel suffered from an internal explosion resulting in a weapons cache to crash land in New Jersey, USA. The cache broke apart in the atmosphere resulting in multiple pieces of space debris hitting the surface. Most chunks contained nothing but metal or very minor space tech, but one cache landed in a forest without too much damage to the inside. Nearby officer Rubin Powers happened to be near the crash and went to investigate. Upon discovering the cache, Rubin quickly identified the contents as a battle suit. It resembled the power suits that some heroes of Freedom City wore, but this particular weapon seemed different, more ruthless. He then noticed the Laser-bow docked besides the suit and examined it. Just by holding it Rubin felt that it contained the power he was so desperately searching for. Initially Rubin was going to deliver the suit to the station, but on the way home his mind changed. He kept thinking about Johnson and decided to take a look at the suit first. After bringing the suit home and wiping it down, the suit powered on to Rubin's surprise. The suit scanned the room and proceeded to scan Rubin thoroughly. It then opened and seemed as if it was beckoning Rubin to step in. While in a trance, Rubin entered the suit only to have it immediately close and take off using the jet rockets. A flash of images flooded the HUD with different languages blasting at the screen until it stopped at English and displayed the words "HunterMech Tutorial" By this point the flying stabilized and the suit landed in an open rooftop in the city. The screen informed Rubin what the suit was and its basic capabilities. The suit had rebooted during the crash and registered Rubin Powers as its current user and had wiped chunks of its memory and programming. Rubin then saw displays of bounties of targets who were located nearby. He immediately recognized one figure as the alien who shot Johnson and got away. Now he couldn't give the suit back. He had to track down the alien and get revenge. Personality & Motivation: Rubin Powers is still a young cop, acts recklessly and feels like he's invincible. Though he's smart and keen to pick up on things, he can act rash and be stubborn. He has a good instinct, but follows it over the suggestions of allies. He's a talker and quite charismatic, even know for taking things likely in the middle of a situation. Though when it comes to saving people, Powers takes his job seriously, wanting to strike fear into the criminals. His motivation is to protect his city and catch the bad guys. Through his line of work he understands that the world contains villain too dangerous to be left alone. Powers aims to track them down using his police skills and knowledge. After acquiring the power suit, Powers hopes to use the technology to round up the super-villains and galactic outlaws too powerful for FCPD to handle single handedly. Powers & Tactics: For combat Ranger relies on the power suit. All of his defenses and attacks are related to the suit. Not to say that he is weak without it. On the contrary he has his police training to rely on when fighting low level thugs or meta humans. But for any outlaws with intergalactic bounties on them, a light pistol isn't going to cut it. When going after a target, Ranger first consults the power suits database to see what intel he can get. The suit isn't the most up to date resource, but occasionally it picks up a signal with a new bounty or outlaw not too far away. From there Ranger uses his police training to try and scope out the villain, perhaps find his motivation and next target. Then with stealth, Ranger can close in on the target and attack from a strong location with the Laserbow. Complications: Alien Tech: As HunterMech is a state of the art bounty hunting powersuit from space, there is plenty about the suit Rubin doesn't understand about it. Many features have been deactivated or damaged in the crash, and currently he has no way of repairing them. Furthermore, though Rubin has the basic functions down, there are still many features he is unable to use effectively, being inexperienced working with alien tech. "Borrowed": Since the power suit came into Rubin's possession by chance, there is likely someone looking to reclaim the weapon. The memory was conveniently wiped during the reboot so the last user to possess the HunterMech suit is unknown. Someone who had the suit in his possession at one point is likely well armed and looking to reclaim it. Payback: As the previous users of the battle suit completed plenty of assignments over the years, there are plenty of outlaws waiting for a chance to get payback at the HunterMech suit, assuming he was the once who captured them the first time. Nor do they really care that the user is a different people. Any space outlaws who happen to catch wind of the suit being at Earth are bound to plan a revenge attack. Wanted: Though Rubin's time in the suit is short, many organizations have a price on his head ( or the suit's head in reality.) With the merciless acts done by previous users, the bounty on the HunterMech's head has increased to a large amount. Whether criminal organizations or official police groups, many are after the individual. In some cases, such as galactic police groups, diplomacy can convince them that Rubin is a different person, however in most cases they won't care who is in the suit. Normal Identity: As Rubin is temporarily on leave, he's had plenty of free time to fight bad guys and outlaws. However he doesn't bring his suit with him on a daily basis, especially when he resumes work. If his identity were to come out, he'd be an easy target. (Not to say that he wouldn't fight back!) Another attack on the big thug!: 1d20+7 20
  9. Liquify responded back to Coiled Lightning. "No problem. I'm Liquify, and thanks for the heads up." Yeah, gotta watch out for those sparks. Then as the big thug broke out of the snare, Liquify turned back to his opponent. "Tough guy huh, well then let's try this!" He charged right at the big thug and shifted most of his mass into his right fist and hurled it at the brute. The attack connected right in the chest and knocked him back while Liquify leaped back into a fighting stance. The thug looked a little out of it but was still standing. This guy's a lot tougher than I thought....

Liquify is going to use slam on the big thug. Roll: 1d20+7 22
  11. Liquify paused when the villains exited the van. Ok, these guys aren't your average thugs. This looks like it's gonna be a rough battle. Uhh, He then broke out of the trance when the blue hero leaped into the air. The guy looked like he was familiar with the super-villain. As Coiled Lightning made a move on Slice, Liquify turned to the approaching thugs. "You focus on him. Let me take care of these guys!" Liquify ran towards the thugs winding up his arm for a ranged attack. Lets keep the big guy busy, then I can take out the small fry. He then hurled his arm forward as a ball of blue slime slammed into the big thug's feet to snare him. That should slow him down for a bit.

Attack roll: 1d20+7 23 on the thug, DC 20
  14. Liquify arrives at the scene to see a blue superhero taking out the thugs with a whip. Looks like he's taken care of those thugs with no sweat. Maybe I ought to... However before contacting the hero he turns to see another thug in the getaway van. "Oh no you don't!" Winding up his arm, Liquify leaps towards the van and throws a long punch while midair.
  15. Liquify jumped at the sound of the gunshot. No longer a puddle, Liquify grew into a humanoid form and listened for more noise. He turned at the direction of the fire and bolted forward. That Zap didn't sound like a normal bullet. I might really be in for a fight if these guys aren't your average thugs. He jumped through some alley ways, hoping to get to the site before any more people got hurt.

  17. Matt approached the building with his hands in his pockets. He figured this was a case that was perfect for him. At the edge of the alley he paused to take a breath. Once he transformed he would have to be careful. It would be risky to transform back anytime soon. He already left his wallet and phone at home, Matt hated losing stuff after transforming into a liquid. After he mentally prepared himself, Matt transformed and slithered towards the building to keep watch.

    Liquify

20 Q's Liquify met the reporter at an empty coffee shop. After saving the guy's life from some local thugs, he kept requesting that Liquify allow him to get an interview. Though hesitant, Liquify couldn't see how this could come back to bite him. The reporter genuinely was thankful for the rescue and only wanted to help improve his image before some other news agency twisted the facts. Liquify sat at the booth, but didn't order anything. He normally didn't eat food while transformed. And if he did, it would just slowly break down in his clear body, not a particularly pleasant sight for others. The reporter grabbed a coffee and took out his paper and pen. He started the interview as the waitress prepare the drink. Luckily this place was empty, and the manager was welcoming to heroes so there wouldn't be any distractions to the two. 1. "So where are you from?" "Well I'm not from around here. I only come to Freedom city two years ago. My hometown wasn't as hero friendly as this place." 2. "How would you physically describe yourself? Is this different from how others would?" "Well as you can see I'm a blue blob. But in reality, I'm not too far off. Well, I guess I'm shorter. And less muscular. And not blue. Ok I guess I'm not quite anything like my hero form. I'm just a short, lean guy who you wouldn't guess was a hero at first glance." 3. "Do you hero have any distinguishing speech characteristics or recurring mannerisms?" "Uhh not anything special I guess. My voice does kinda sound weird when I transform I guess. A bit deeper, sounds like I'm kinda underwater. Also to be honest, I don't even know how I make sounds. I don't really have a mouth and vocal cords. I just make sounds?" 4. "What is your motivation?" "Well to be honest I grew up wanting to be more normal. I actually came here to find a way to get rid of these powers. But when I saw people in trouble I just had to jump in there and help. Now I just want to find a place where I belong and can do good for the world." 5. "What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?" "Well just like this gel, I can take a lot of beatings, but I will always bounce back and persist. I don't like giving up. My weakness? I don't like to give away things like that. I'll just say that I sometimes think too much and can lack common sense." 6. "What do you love and hate?" "The thing I love the most is the feeling I get when I made a difference in someone's life by being a hero. So I hate the feeling when I let someone down." 7. "How would you describe your mental and emotional state?" "Though I'm no longer a teenager, I'm still quite young and juggling all these things going on in my life. So emotionally I've got quite a bit on my plate, but everyone has these issues, right?" 8. "What does you fear the most?" "Again with that kind of question. Umm I can't swim well so I fear drowning." 9. "What is your greatest ambition?" "No laughing, but I'd love to one day have my own comic book line of my adventures like the comics I used to read as a kid." 10. "How does you feel about the state of the world and your place in it?" "I feel like the world is struggling to find a balance of peace with all the evil and power that exist. I just hope to find a way and help balance it." "Ok halfway done." The reporter put down his coffee and continued the interview. 11. "Do you have any prejudices? How do you get along with others?" "I don't like aliens that much. The whole cosmic thing confuses me. I knew none of it growing up, and it kinda defies the physics and chemistry I grew up researching. Not to say that I wouldn't get along with an alien teammate, I just wouldn't not be a fan of all the weird cosmic stuff he'd bring." 12. "Where do your loyalties lie?" "That's a weird question. I suppose I'm most loyal to the heroes I grew up reading about. I'm loyal to those beliefs and will aim to follow them to the best of my ability." 13. "Do you have a lover or partner?" "Nope! No girlfriend. I wish though, but being a hero has kinda taken up my time to go on dates." 14. "Do you have a family? What is the relationship there like?" "Well I was close to my family. But I don't speak with them as much now. Kinda wanted to keep the whole hero thing away from all of them." 15. "How would the people closest to you describe you?" "I've heard smart, but clueless sometimes. Always seems tired or out of it. But that kinda comes with the hero business." 16. "Are you a role model?" "I would hope so. I do my best to maintain a good image, look both ways before crossing the street, doing my homework." 17. "How spiritual are you?" "Not really to be fair. I know the basics, I guess I try not to do bad things, but growing up I was never devout, and neither were my parents." 18. "Are you part of a team, or would you like to be? Why?" "Not yet. I would love to be part of a team some day. I dunno, be like the team's scientist and create cool things. Antidotes to the poison or a potion to save the day. I probably would need to become a hero on a larger scale first though. I still spend my time fighting low lives, not super villains." 19. "How do you feel about the place of metahumans and aliens on Earth?" "Well as a metahuman I can't complain. Though I sometimes feel edgy about the super villains. With the bad metahuman publicity I grew up with, I get uncomfortable with some of those paragon types that could single handedly level a city. Also aliens, like before, a bit paranoid about them. Earth is probably a spec compared to the cosmic universe so I wonder why they take an interest here. I mean bullets probably don't hurt me anywhere near as much as some laser gun could." 20. "If you could give one piece of advice to an aspiring hero, what would it be?" "Don't be scared to do the right thing. If you believe in that cause, go fight for it. As long as you are happy with the person in the mirror, everything will be fine. It's when you're not happy should you be looking to change yourself." "Thanks again for this scoop. I'm sure the press will love you. Soon enough you'll be that big time super hero you were talking about. And I'll be the guy who gave him his first interview. Best of luck. Can I get a photo real quick?" The reporter put aside the notepad and pulled out a digital camera. "Sure, why not. I enjoyed the interview. I think I also learned a little more about myself." Liquify posed next to the man, shaking his hand. He'll probably complain about the sliminess in a second, but I'll be sure to leave before that. Anyways I'm gonna be late for class if I don't hustle.

    Liquify

    The news thread for Liquify.
  20. Thanks for the feedback. I thought about the last point and decided to make the container continuous so that it would go along with the complication. It should require him to consciously make the change back. I removed concealment and interpose to give insubstantial and elongation (only 1 rank) to make the entire container continuous. I think I want to later down the road have him get stuck as a slime for a while due to losing too much in combat or water or etc.
  21. Player Name: Gankun Character Name: Liquify Power Level: 7 (105/109PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent Power Points: 4 Progress To Bronze Status: 4/30 In Brief: College student with the ability to turn into a liquid gel body with enhanced strength and agility. Aiming to find his place as a hero. Alternate Identity: Matt Sol Identity: Secret Birthplace: California Occupation: College student, part time superhero Affiliations: Freedom City University, Chemistry Department Family: Tomo Sol (Adoptive Mother), Jack Sol (Adoptive Father), Lily Sol (Adoptive Younger Sister) Description: Age: 20 (DoB: Year 1994) Apparent Age: N/A Gender: Male Ethnicity: Asian American Height: 5ft 8in Weight: 155 lbs Eyes: Brown Hair: Black When on the way to class or just hanging out around campus, Matt wears T-shirts and Jeans with a vest for those chilly days. His normal appearance is a not so tall man with a lean build and slight muscle. He generally carries with him a backpack with his school work if heading to class or the library. When he transforms into his liquid form however he "slips" though his clothes and takes the shape of a man made of a light blue gelatin. His face has sharp features and bright yellow eyes. He stands at a height of 6'3 with well-defined muscles. By default his slime holds this form though he will go into a puddle if unconscious while transformed. Power Descriptions: Liquify can stench any part of his body with it flowing like a liquid. With the liquid body, he is able to throw his fists long distances to hit enemies farther away. Alternatively he can throw this glob of gel to snare and trap a villain. Due to his form he shrugs off weak edged attacks as his body can quickly reconnect the two halves. His body can regenerate from physical damage usually by putting himself back together. For utility he can form into a puddle for escapes, stealth, or dodging attacks. His normal form lacks most of these abilities except for the regeneration. For example, if Matt were to take a stab to the arm, he would feel the pain, but his body would be able to recover after some rest by internally converting the wound to slime and repairing the damage. Despite this case, Matt is far more limited in his human form. He is weaker, slower, and less resilient. Furthermore his transformation isn't a reflex. Matt has to focus for a bit to consciously convert all of his body cells into a liquid form. Transforming back also has some issues, Matt requires at least 60% of the slime form to convert back into human body cells, with any lost slime resulting in lost body weight and a very hungry, or potentially lightheaded feeling. Any less would require Matt to regenerate more slime through consuming sugars and proteins. History: Matt Sol was adopted by Jack and Tomo Sol as a baby and was raised in California far away from Freedom City. Though California still had its fair share of heroes and villains, their presence was much weaker than the hero central FC. Thus as much as Matt admired them, they were considered freaks in the town he lived in. As the adoptive son of two chemists, Matt developed a love for science and was always toying with the chemistry kit he got when he was 7. He was most interested by the slimes he could make by mixing some of the solutions and how the green goo would bounce off the walls and stretch across the table. His powers awakened one day during seventh grade. After going home from school he was confronted by two bullies who wanted to teach Matt a lesson after refusing to allow them to copy homework. Matt, not having a particularly tough build, ran down the alley hoping to lose them behind a turn. Arriving at the turn Matt was faced with a dead end. He cowered and wished he could turn invisible or fly away like the heroes on TV. After a weird tingling feeling he heard a weird response from the kids. “Where’d Sol go? Quick check back the other way!†Matt lifted his head after they left. Confused he looked down at his feet only to notice a blue puddle of goop. Looking around he realized he was no longer crouching on the ground but was a slimy figure emerging from the puddle. Though not long after freaking out he reverted back and decided to bolt home. He figured he couldn’t tell anyone. Would his parents not want him if they found out they adopted a mutant. Would the kids come back after him if they found out he was different. Matt decided to try and forget whatever happened, it could have been easily a dream for all he knew. By the time he got into high school he noticed he was different. He didn’t get tired in PE as often as before. He felt more flexible, faster, and agile. Nothing extreme like a super human, but definitely now above average despite his lean build. He even began to experiment with his own powers. Now he could concentrate to turn his entire body into a gelatinous form and that’s where his powered emerged. He could throw a fist across the room, slither under his door, or lift things with a strength and speed he didn’t normally possess. Furthermore, having studied chemistry, he noticed that his goop held strange properties. It was made from his body mass and knew how to return to a “normal†body cell. Even stranger after twisting an ankle during a run, it healed itself from the inside after a day. Matt decided that even though these powers were neat, he felt uncomfortable being in a town that had tons of negative publicity thrown towards hero. He yearned for a normal life, but now that it was impossible, he figured he should go to college in a town more accepting of heroes. After graduating he enrolled in the university at Freedom City to study chemistry. He entered the school with a sizeable scholarship allowing him to focus less on money issues. Not long after beginning the school year he fell in love with the city. The heroes of FC inspired him to do something with his powers. However that idea conflicted with the growing workload. He thought he would change the world through research in chemistry, but for the mean time he might be able to affect people's lives as a hero. Plus deep down, every kid wanted to be a super hero when they grew up. Now in his second year of college, Matt juggles the demands of the lab he's volunteering in with his night hobby, his alter-ego Liquify, Personality & Motivation: Matt is a studious young adult still struggling to find his place in the world. He is kind, but pretty aloof at time as he always seems to be thinking about chemistry or classes. With his intelligence he wants to go into academia as a chemist, but his heart still wants to help people like the heroes he used to admire. Even though he is young, he still takes a mature approach to situations, thinking things through rather than acting on impulse. Despite his kindness, people think of him as condescending due to his intelligence. Sometimes he lacks common sense and says things to offend people, though his heart is in the right place. Seeing how important heroes are in Freedom City, Matt aspires to learn what it means to be a hero so that one day he can make a difference and perhaps find a place he belongs. Powers & Tactics: Liquify generally likes to plan out his moves. He doesn't rush into fights without knowing what he's up against. With him being a rookie, he can't afford to make mistakes underestimating enemies. His powers allow him to be more defensive, dodging attacks and recovering from them to figure out his opponent. He knows how to keep his cool in a fight. However when it's time to make the offensive move, he goes all out. Since he knows he has a weaker offensive capability, he rushes his opponent with a barrage of attacks to use his stamina against them. His liquid form allows for an overwhelming grapple around the bad guys. Complications: Lost Articles: Matt is always ready to spring into action, but sometimes has issues transforming back to a human form. He usually leaves behind his clothes and belongings on the ground when transforming. If the fight carries him across the city, afterwards Matt may have trouble finding his schoolbag or wallet. (Which would be unfortunate if someone got their hands on it and connected the dots.) Even worse, since he would transform back nude, he needs to find a source of clothes to willingly transform back. Even if it means "borrowing" some from a nearby retail store (which has problems of its own since he doesn't have any cash going back.) Scared of Water: Matt is generally uncomfortable around large bodies of water. He's fine with pools, (though he prefers to not stand by the edge) but begins to panic and get anxious at anything the size of a river or lake, twice as much if the water has a current. A strong gush of water could potentially split his body into two, and if the other half were to flow away, Matt could potentially get stuck as slime forever, unable to fight the current. Matt will never willingly step into a boat, and prefers to avoid the rain, (at least in a transformed state. He doesn't want a detached arm to flow into the sewers.) If forced into a setting with a large body of water nearby, let's say a cliff, Matt will do whatever it takes to position himself away from the edge, even if it means compromising the mission. Liquify

I see, shifted the ricochet to impervious toughness. Also the attack specialization should bring the snare to +7 right? So would the next step be writing the character up on the hero bank using the template? Thanks for all the help so far!

    Liquify

Yeah, I definitely spent way more time making this guy than characters in other rpg games. Though I must say, developing this guy bit by bit feels way more rewarding that I've ever felt making a lvl 1 Fighter or lvl 5 Jedi.

After reading the book again yeah I know see how maximizing those caps are important. Combat is starting to make a little more sense now with how toughness/ defense works. Made some changes to focus on meeting those caps and providing offensive attacks. Also tweaked some powers and enhancements to make better use of his PP, range is only useful for snare so I figured attack specialization was the way to go. Whew Mutants and Masterminds is a bit more math heavy than I expected for a D20 system.
