  1. Player Name: horngeek

    Character Name: Tachyon

    Power Level: 10 (150/150PP)

    Trade-Offs: None

    Unspent Power Points: 0

    Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30

    In Brief: Japanese COSMIC AVATAR

    Alternate Identity: Chiyoko Hayashi

    Identity: Public

    Birthplace: Tokyo, Japan

    Occupation: Superhero

Affiliations: Lor Republic (allied a few times)

Family: Daisuke Hayashi, leader of the Midori-gumi syndicate, is her father. Her mother was killed in an attack by Overthrow.

    Description:

    Age: 30 (DOB: 1982)

    Apparent Age: 20

    Gender: Female

    Ethnicity: Japanese

    Height: 5'2"

    Weight: 110 lb

Eyes: Golden irises that glow when she's using a large amount of power.

Hair: Silver- again, it appears to shine when she's using a large amount of power.

    35d3qdz.jpg

Chiyoko was a fairly young-looking Japanese woman, of about 23 years of age, with black hair, olive eyes, and a fair complexion. She had a fairly traditional figure, in fact, fairly lightweight and quite short.

Nowadays, she looks almost the same, except her eyes are golden and her hair silver, both as a result of the accident that granted her her powers. While pretty, she isn't the most beautiful woman around, but she is very graceful, every movement she makes deliberate and considered.

    Power Descriptions:

Tachyon's powers are all focused around cosmic energies. In practical terms, she can do a variety of things with them, and all manifest as glowing energy of silver and gold. She can project blasts of energy, form it into a sword (which she prefers to manifest as a katana), heal, corrode, and fly fast enough to travel between starts in hours or even minutes.

    History:

Chiyoko was born to Daisuke Hayashi, then a high-ranking member of the Midori-gumi syndicate of the Yakuza. Her childhood was... mixed. Daisuke loved her and her mother, but was often absent. And then her mother was killed when she was just five years old, in a terrorist attack on Paris by Overthrow.

Daisuke grew even more distant after that, throwing himself on a quest for revenge as he climbed up the ladder of the syndicate. He still tried to involve himself... a bit... but to be honest, Daisuke didn't think he was a suitable parent. Her uncle, Takeshi, spent more time with her. And Daisuke made sure she was looked after as well, employing a nanny to help raise her. The socialisation that came with starting school also helped her a great deal, and it was there that she started developing a passion for physics. A combination of hard work, study, and funds from her father eventually got her into Oxford University, where she helped with a few practical experiments. Until one went wrong, and changed her life forever. While she was helping test a particle accelerator, the accelerator suddenly vastly overshot first its safe limit, then what was supposed to be the maximum possible output. And then it exploded, with Chiyoko caught in the blast radius. When the smoke cleared, her hair and eyes had both changed color, and she was staring wide-eyed at the cosmic energy surrounding her hands. In the aftermath, an investigation on the cause of the accident drew no satisfactory conclusions- it could have been deliberate sabotage, but there simply wasn't enough evidence left.

In the meantime, Chiyoko did a little experimentation with her powers, discovering most of them fairly quickly (the light-speed travel through accidentally making her way to Pluto when testing her flight). Ultimately, she decided that she needed to go on... a walkabout to find herself. Except on a much larger scale. So, a month after she gained her powers... Chiyoko left Earth.

The past ten years have been interesting for Chiyoko. She's seen a large portion of the galaxy (although she's the first to admit she's not seen everything- she hasn't gone into Grue space, for one thing), she's had numerous adventures, and she's forged some ties among the Lor. Now... now she's ready to return to Earth.

    Personality & Motivation:

    Powers & Tactics:

Tachyon has a varied fighting style. She uses her powers to their full extent, switching to whichever use of her powers is most suited to the current situation, but shows a slight preference towards fighting up close and from the ground, using her energy sword to attack opponents.

    Complications:

My Father is a Yakuza Oyabun: Chiyoko's father, Daisuke, isn't just a crime boss, he's a major one. While Chiyoko will not work for Daisuke, she also won't testify against him unless Daisuke goes so far as to kill innocents.

Notes: Here's the sheet for Tachyon. She'll be going up as soon as I get Bronze status, so let's work out her backstory beforehand.

I make no apologies, her sheet's almost a copy of Trollthumper's Cosmic Avatar build. I changed a few things because a) a cosmic avatar should be immortal dammit and B) changed her skills to reflect her former occupation as a student of SCIENCE. Also, to add Luck, because it's practically required hereabouts. :P

Daisuke's wife, Noriko, died fifteen years ago, and his daughter, Natsuko, was a scientist, but was caught in an accident in a particle accelerator, and gained cosmic-level powers. She left Earth ten years ago for a... walkabout.

    Description:

Daisuke Hayashi is a Japanese man who appears to be... well, in his mid-sixties. Exactly what he is, in other words. He is, however, extremely fit, and it shows. He's quite fatherly in his looks and expressions most of the time, and tends to wear a business suit or traditional Japanese clothing. If he's expecting trouble, he carries a katana at his side, but this isn't often nowadays.

    Power Descriptions:

None. Daisuke Hayashi is simply a man. An extremely fit, and very skilled man.

    History:

Daisuke was born into the Yakuza alongisde Takeshi, his twin brother. His father was fairly high-up in the Midori-gumi, one of the medium-sized syndicates, and he taught Daisuke and Takeshi all that he knew about leadership in the Yakuza, and the physical skills needed as well. Both siblings learnt quickly, and when they became old enough, joined the syndicate. While there was a degree of family connections involved with their rise, the fact of the matter is that Daisuke and Takeshi were both very skilled, and worked very well as a team. And along the way, Daisuke married Noriko Akiyama. In truth, things went very well for Daisuke in the early years, with his brother at his side, a beautiful wife (who soon bore him a daughter, Chiyoko Hayashi).

Then, five years after Chiyoko was born, Noriko was killed in an attack by Overthrow, while she was visiting a friend in Paris.

Daisuke mourned. Then he threw himself into rising up the ranks. Oh, he did it fairly, but his goal became to become the leader of the Midori-gumi. And have the resources to take his own revenge on Overthrow. And it paid off- by the time he was 54, Daisuke Hayashi was leader of the Midori-gumi. It would be a bitter victory. His daughter had become a physics student at Oxford, and during a visit to a particle accelerator there, she was caught in... an accident. The experience didn't kill her, but she was changed, now wielding cosmic energies, and she felt she needed to find out more about her new powers, and to find a purpose for having them. Daisuke let her go- he wouldn't have been able to stop her anyway, and he agreed with her on both counts.

In the past ten years, the aging man has turned his attention to the Midori-gumi. He has continued his work in bringing the syndicate into the modern age, and has kept an eye out for ways to hinder Overthrow. Both these activities have lead him to start expanding his organisation into Freedom City, with the Yakuza starting to muscle in to the protection business.

    Personality & Motivation:

Daisuke is a fatherly old man with a hard edge that has become more apparent over time. First and foremost, however, he's a reasonable man. No, really- he doesn't hold grudges if you don't make it personal (if you, say, kill his wife, on the other hand...), always honors his part of a bargain, and most importantly to potential employees, doesn't kill people over failure. He holds no hatred for superheroes, and will often give them a tip-off if he receives information about 'distasteful activities'. That said, he's become more... ruthless since his daughter disappeared.

    Powers & Tactics:

In combat, Daisuke uses his katana, only resorting to his gun if he has to. He tends to coordinate attacks, but in personal combat, it's quite apparent that 65 years has done little to decrease his fitness.

DC10: Michael Fields is the CEO and majority shareholder of Fields Corporation, a technological innovator. He's known for his work with law enforcement agencies.
DC15: Fields Corporation often does work with superheroes. In fact, the corporation has a discount for superheroes, and funds the Australian Superhero League (or Network).  Heck, a super worked for him directly up until the Terminus Invasion- Arsenal, probably a girl from the voice, but wore a MASSIVE suit of powered armor.  She must've retired, I don't blame her after Omega.
DC20: Michael Fields is actually a mutant- he's superhumanly intelligent (and superhumanly fast at thinking, too!). His wife works as his accountant, and he's got three kids.
DC25: The oldest kid, Catherine? She's moved to Freedom City recently for university. Bit of a risk, given Michael's earned the ire of a couple of supervillains with his helping out heroes.

  5. Due to realising the rewards work slightly differently than I thought (and another character idea I'd like to play before Blacksmith, to be honest), I'd like to request that Blacksmith goes into the archives when the second approval comes in rather than the active PCs vault, until I hit Silver Status. :)

So, yeah. Comments for any and all sheets is appreciated, I'll post links to them in this post as I go, and I'll post changes as I go as well.

  8. Vector smiled as the fight ended. "Good, we didn't hurt anyone too badly... um, I'm assuming the Sheriff is fine, Gaian Knight."

As the voice came out of the office, Vector turned to Fleur. "Can you do that for them? I think it'd be a good idea to get them out of there anyway."

She then turned back to the office, wrinkling her nose at the smell of the rotting milk. "While we take care of that, can you tell me a couple of things, please? What happened here, and what did you mean by the people in the prison?"

  9. Okay... what needs to be bought to bring me up to PL7 defensively?

I might drop a Feat from Equipment to pay for that.

The reason I'm going for Device for the sword is because Ginerva will be improving on it- and the durability reason as well, of course.

And the 'lack of mobility, no ranged' is deliberate. Her sheet as it stands? She's literally just starting off. Her first adventure on this board will be her first full stop. She'll likely lose a bit/a lot and have to be bailed out, but she has a capability to grow. So yeah, that bit's by design. Heck, she could become a Mystical Battlesuit, Mystical Gadgeteer or even a Mystical Cowl at this point, and it fully depends on her IC experiences.

  10. Vector nodded at Fleur's comment. "Dont't hurt anyone. Got it."

As she watched the sherriff drawing his gun, her mind worked furiously, figuring out a trick she had the idea for a few weeks ago, but hadn't yet had the time to properly figure out. she'd seen strength-based superheroes smash the ground to knock out groups a hundred times, and theoretically, she should be able to mimic that with her powers.

Time to give that a try. Vector lifted her foot and stamped down on the ground, her powers amplifying the force of the impact and the force of gravity on the soil, creating a ripple in the soil in front of her that died about before reaching the buildings, but still caught a half-dozen of the mob.

  11. Hmmm… point there. Well, in that case, spending that point, with Vector trying to catch as many as she can in the area of effect.

…um. And I think my rolls have a +10 bonus, but how many do I need to make?

  12. Right. I'm… not sure whether this is legal- my books are unavailable right now.

Can I do a Power Stunt to temporarily add Strike 10 with the Area(Cone) modifier to my Vector Control array?

    Hair: A dark steel color.

    2ro2kg4.jpg

Blacksmith (or Ginerva, as she's started calling herself) appears to be a tall and muscular woman, with strong features that appear to be quite classical- and unblemished, for that matter. What shatters this illusion is the fact that her entire body is made out of a metallic substance that looks like steel (and feels like it to a degree). Her hair is made out of darker metallic strands as well, and her eyes appear a dark red (which, as she becomes angry, almost seems to be burning red).

She generally wears casual clothes nowadays- a tank top and some jeans have become her most common outfit, and she generally carries a spatha (a type of roman sword) which she made herself.

    Power Descriptions:

N/A- Blacksmith's powers are all in her body and in the artifacts she makes.

    History:

Long ago, a wizard made a golem. He desired a tool that would work tirelessly on his forges, assisting him when he wished to make artifacts of great renown, and to work on tasks he set when he wished to attend to other matters. Most evidence points to her creator being Sumerian- that language comes most naturally to her- but she's not sure. If he was indeed from that long-gone empire, the golem is almost as old as civilisation itself. Certainly, no record, grimoire or tome speaks of her creation. They do speak of her works as she passed from master to master- a golem, possessing no personality or innate spell-casting of her own, but able to craft works that any mortal was incapable of. In particular, able to craft raw magic without distilling it through cultural traditions or perceptions.

As such, the golem was sought among the magical community. Some wise ones, who wished to keep it away from the many wicked who sought to turn it to their own ends. The Blacksmith was an object to be fought over for its works... until one day, 'it' woke up. Ginerva doesn't know why, she just remembers coming to consciousness in the ruins of a village, with a druidess standing over her. "Ah, good, it worked. Come along, please."

The next few years were... confusing. The druidess, Feidlimid, told the newly awakened golem that she had awakened her so she could make her own choices. But... others would seek to strip that away from her once more, and the golem would not be accepted in any case. Not at the present moment, at least. Feidlimid told The Blacksmith that she could seal her away, for two and a half thousand years, to a time where Feidlimid hoped that men might have grown wiser and more accepting. The Blacksmith accepted. The last thing she remembers is Feidlimid's face. And... the spell worked. She woke up, two and a half thousand years later, in 2006. Since then, she's tried to make a place for herself- and in this, she's been disappointed and satisfied at the same time. Wiser... there are more spellcasters who seek to use their powers wisely, now. Adam Eldrich found The Blacksmith- who took the name Ginerva- and helped her to find a home in Riverside, near his own sanctuary- and set her up with some equipment, as well. He's had a few chats with Ginerva, trying to help her find a path for her life. She's considering helping the superheroes of the city, something he's encouraging, but she hasn't taken the plunge just yet...

    Personality & Motivation:

Blacksmith- or Ginerva as she's started to call herself- doesn't speak except when she sees the need to. She tries to be friendly, but she's only got a few years experience interacting with people- and she's very much a fish out of water. She's not as self-conscious about her appearance as you might think, however- in her mind, there's just no need for it.

    Powers & Tactics:

Right now, Ginerva is a fairly standard fighter, using her sword in close combat to augment her blows. If she needs to, she can make additional artifacts for short term use quite quickly, but she hasn't been able to create anything more long-lasting just yet.

    Complications:

Out of Water: The last time Ginerva was active and aware was a full two and a half thousand years ago. She's adapted well- to a degree, but she's still caught off-guard by some things. In particular, she has a 'mental block' with modern science, and while she understands principles behind things, she just can't... fix or build anything relying on anything that relies on electricity. She tries, but draws a blank as soon as she gets to 'turn it off and back on'.

Unusual: She's made out of metal. This will draw attention. No more needs be said.

Valuable: The fact remains that Ginerva is The Blacksmith, and although not many know she's active- yet- as this changes, a lot of people may try to capture and enslave her again for her... unique skills.

The Blacksmith's Forge (Large, Toughness 20, Concealed (DC 25), Defense System (Blast 7), Fire Prevention System, Gym, Library, Power System (all features run off magic, not electricity), Living Space, Workship)

This house (and the series of caves underneath it) were provided to The Blacksmith by Adam Eldrich, and further improved by the forger- in fact, that's what she's spent most of her time the past few years doing. As a result, the cave system is very secure. It would take a determined foe to reach the bottom of the cave system where Ginerva works and rests.[XEP]

  14. Vector stepped in front of the sheriff, glaring. "For heaven's... there's no need to shoot him, we can end this without anyone else getting killed."

The blue-costumed superhero thought furiously. Charlotte's call, how... friendly the townspeople had been.

And the fact that, apparently, dairy production was more important than clearing the scene of a crime.

She turned her head towards the window. "...what do you mean, don't drink the milk?"

  15. Catherine thought as she stripped out of her shirt and jeans, revealing her costume beneath. "I'd agree with miss Fleur.

Okay. My powers mostly focus on... well, the best way to describe it is vector manipulation- I can alter the direction and amount with which forces act on objects. I can use it to throw stuff around, protect myself from attacks, enhance the force of my own punch, jump further... to be honest, I'm pretty much a Powerhouse who uses something other than raw muscles."

Finally, she tied her mask over her eyes. "My codename's Vector."

  16. Catherine's eyes widened as Fleur announced the gunshots, and she leaned towards Fleur and Gaian Knight, speaking softly and trying to avoid being overheard by anyone else. "...I came here because I got a call from my friend. She sounded like she was in trouble. And..."

The young woman breathes out. "Well, I want to come with you. This sounds related. Besides, you're not the only superheroes on the dias."

  17. So she's publically known as a magic robot? That's interesting. Any particular place the name "Ginerva" comes from? It's very close to Minerva, the Roman name for Athena (goddess of crafts and wisdom! :D).

Less 'publicly known' and more 'bit hard to hide that you're a magic robot when you look like a woman made of steel'.

20 Dex is an interesting choice. That is a very limber golem.

Like I said: she's a golem, but looks exactly like a person except what she's made out of.

Ini, Grapple, and Knockback have to be calculated, of course. Math looks right on Attack and Defense.

    Course. Done.

Exotic saves are pretty much where they should be. I'd recommend moving some of that Reflex into Will, but that's a personal thing.

    Reason for placement given already.

You should note which Language is her native tongue. Also, that's a lot of PP into Language; at some point it becomes easier to buy Comprehend.

    Accounted for.

All checks out there, though I'm interesting to see what the Equipment goes to buying.

    I'm thinking HQ right now.

Kudos on buying the full Immunity.

The concept is an interesting one. Right now I'd recommend filling that Skill list out or possibly buying a rank of Skill Mastery. Think about her hobbies, the little things Ginerva did that kept her sane from day to day. Also, don't disregard the fluff. Fluff can be very important when deciding little character points.

*nods* Remember, although she spent a lot of time sealed away, she also slept most of that time- her sentient and concious portion of existence is something like 8 years, 5 before being sealed and 3 after being found. I might swap out intimidation for something she took up learning after her release, though.
