  1. Rusty Nail has been approved and is raring for action on the streets of Freedom City. I'm sure he can help out in his own small way. "Cleaning up the city 5 inches at a time!" Gotta work on that catch phrase. It kinda sounds... wrong.
  2. Grapple adjusted. Ditched Subtle (forgot that last time) Added Elusive Target feat with leftover point. Made sense
  3. Fixed the Con listing - Reduced Enhanced Con to +4 with Impervious Toughness 2 Increased Skills and added Knowledge - Pop Culture because watching TV is something that Rusty has a lot of time for. Really? sweet. Check. I did like the Penetrating Strength but I'll live with out it for now. You're right... though it's a -8. +4 STR +4 SuperStrength - 16 size = -8 And How! When you first pointed out my terrible grapple ability I realized I'd better bump up Escape Artist or grease myself up every day in bacon fat. Will do!
  4. Okay - Yet another revision... went back to Permanent Shrinking w/ linked Compression. Modified the movement abilities and ditched Healing.
  5. The impervious and penetrating are part of the whole character and the reason behind the character name Rusty Nail. Tough as a nail. Dropping those is like scrapping the character. Might as well just call him Cap'n Shortstuff. Ditched the Permanent Shrinking. 24 points is waaay to much to waste. Check it out.. skills, feats, languages... it's like some sort of.. person?
  6. *expletive deleted* No problem. Just tossed out all the flavor elements to the character and a point of leaping and I'm right as rain. ...Or I can give up the permanent idea and just let him shrink at will with an action modifier to the transition. Make it a full round to change size and Shrinking 16 w/ Normal Strength only costs 8 points. Heck I can save an extra point with the Full Power Drawback and bring it down to 7. That just doesn't seem fair. All the power and still have the advantage of being able to go out on a date on a Saturday night. for 1/4 the cost?
  7. Added the -1 Grapple mod in Combat section. I forgot to list the cost of the Wall-crawling 1 as cost 2. That should account for the missing point in the power section. Thanks for looking over Rusty!

Rusty can fly off the handle from time to time but I'd hardly call that a complication. Some people might take offense but some people can mind their own &*(@!!! business all right? And if any one's got a problem with that we can step outside and settle things! Okay so maybe it complicates things from time to time. Fame - Hey maybe I should wear a disguise! To blend in with all the other 5" tall people running around. Maybe a pair of glasses and a dorky suit. Yeah. Appearance Height: 5" tall Weight: 165lbs Hair: Auburn Eyes: Green Description: Rusty dresses in simple earth tone clothes. His outfits are less from choice than from availability. Not a lot of shopping off the rack when you are five inches tall. History Interview on Channel 27 morning talk. ... "Well you weren't always 'saving the city five inches at a time'* so what were you before?" asks the lovely young reporter who's name I'm already forgetting. "Boring," I say, "No, I mean I was the same guy but without the physical changes. I pushed a pencil around from nine to five, dated a little, drank a little and sent flowers home on Mother's Day. I was just another person moving through the world and as far as I'm concerned, I still am." She asks, "So you don't think you've changed?" I shake my head, "I know I've changed. We're all changing constantly. The things you believe in today aren't the same that you believed last month or last year. Think back to all the foolish things you thought and believed back in high school and think how different you are now. Everyone changes their opinions over time and based on the information they are exposed to. I believe that a certain set of core values tends to stay the same for much of our lives but over time even they can change. That's getting a little too deep for breakfast though." "Okay then let's move to the question everyone wants to know. How did you get so..." she starts. "Small?" I suggested. The interviewer nods and crosses her legs and smiles in anticipation. I can't help but look at them, they went on forever. Especially if you're my size. "Radioactive monkey bite," I say and then take a sip of coffee. "What, seriously?" she asks half believing. "No not really," I say, "I was given a magic ring by an alien." "You're not wearing a ring," she says with suspicion. "Oh right, sorry, I was thinking of somebody else." "Be serious, everyone wants to know." "Sorry honey, I'm sworn to secrecy. Telling you anything would just be putting you all at risk," I say. "You're still joking aren't you?" she asks. I shrug and offer, "We live in a world with people with more abilities than can be comprehended. Super technologies that can hear a pin drop from a mile away and satellites that can see you scratch your nose from outer space. You tell me if you think it's possible to keep tabs on someone like a lab rat, twenty-four seven." She nods and accepts my answer for now. She asks, "Isn't it hard being five inches tall?" "Nah. It could be worse. I mean if I'd only shrunk to half my size I'd just be short. This way I get to be a hero." *common interview catch phrase from Rusty. -------------------------- A Friday night at the bar - "... so then that was it. I was his prisoner. He'd tossed me down this deep dark well and I had no way of getting out. He'd blast me with this fire hose when he wasn't off doing some sick thing or other. He had this damn dog watching me from the top of the well to sound the alarm if I even managed to get halfway up or anything." "So how did you get out?" asks one of them as they lean close to hear. "Is that when you discovered your powers and made your escape?" I shook my head and say, "Nope. It just got worse. Finally he lowered this bucket down in the well with something in it. Then he said words that would haunt me to this day.." pause for effect before I say, "It puts the lotion on it's skin or it gets the..." That's when the groans and the laughter start. "Oh man! You suckered us again! When are you going to tell us how you really got shrunk down?" I just grin and say, "When you're old enough to stop falling for my stories." I look at the clock on the wall and say, "Well it's been fun boys and girls but I've got some bad people to surprise. You all have a good time tonight." I take a last sip of whiskey from the swizzle straw and jumped over to the doorway. I raise my hand in a farewell wave before zipping away into the night. One of the kids yells, "Kick ass Rusty!!!" I always try. Running across the city I wonder if the kids would be disappointed if I told them the truth. Truth is I don't have a clue. I woke up one morning five inches tall. I went to the doctors. The x-rays and the scans worked but they didn't tell them anything. The blood sample didn't go so well. For starters their smallest needles were still pretty dang big and the other thing is my skin's pretty tough. Snap enough needles and they start talking about high pressure and titanium tips and stuff and I'm pretty sure they aren't going to be able to jab me with a needle hard enough without actually jamming it straight through me so... no thanks. So maybe it was aliens or a wizard or exposure to radiation, a long dormant genetic quirk in my family makeup, no clue really. I think that I'm someone's experiment. Not like from a lab but someone with power. I think they're trying to teach me something or other. Or maybe the world. Maybe I'll find out someday but until then I'm just going to keep plugging away. --- The past: Samuel Gallowglass was nothing special. He lived in a small city in the Midwest. He trudged through the 9-5 world like so many others and had little contact with the rest of humanity. He had a few work friends, mostly just acquaintances. His parents had passed away and he was distant from the rest that remained. There was no steady girlfriend and no real plan for his future. When he disappeared one day it took three days for anyone to call the police. The police searched his apartment and found Samuel missing. His bank account had been cleared out but it turned out most of it had been used to pay off his credit debts. No trace was ever found of him. It was eventually cold cased, especially because of the lack of concerned family or friends. It was nearly a year later in far off Freedom City that a tiny new hero started becoming a pain in the foot of criminals. No one ever connected the two. If they ever do.. well, everyone's got a skeleton in the closet. Rusty's just happens to be a terribly boring one.
  9. Thanks! and awesome avatar. Love Wordgirl and Captain Huggyface!
  10. Does adding Penetrating to your strength cost 1 / Str point or 1/ +1 modifer of strength = 1 for every 2 points of strength? I can't see any equity for paying double for penetrating on Strength compared to Strike
  11. Character build question for you. I wanted to use Summon Minion. I had a question about this one: Does this mean that the Type Extra is not allowed? or Does it mean that you can not have more than one type of minion summoned at the same time?
  12. Well I'm new here so here's a bit about me: I am involved in tech support and general know-how. Mostly I fake it. Strangely it seems to work. I believe there is some sort of magic involved. I can also draw large static charges very easily. It is not uncommon for visible Sith like lightning bolts to arc off my fingertips in the winter. If I wore wool socks on a fuzzy rug I WOULD DIE! I'm very happily into the severalth year of marriage and have two little children who are currently being cute and sweet and I can't even smell anything burning. Has anyone seen the cats? I've been rping since I was ten though at the time we didn't know what the DM was supposed to do so we both just hunkered over the map and followed through the adventure and fought the monsters. It did make finding the traps a bit simple as they were marked right where everyone could see. I fell out of gaming for a few years, but had to get back into it when The Incredibles came out. I fell back in love with superheroes. Recommendation - watch Word Girl on PBS. super powers, evil villains, sarcasm and a monkey side-kick all that and vocabulary building to boot.
  13. No need to archive really - the name can stay the same - I can just cut and paste? Or if you prefer then archive away and I'll throw the next one out in a bit after I clean up the character history a bit.
  14. Would anyone hate me if I completely redid this character? I mean really redid. Roughly similar powers but some definite changes. Mostly a background - actual character change. I wasn't happy with this at all the more I looked at it.
  15. Um... heh. No she just has a bad Fort save? No modifier other than a +4 recovery from Regen. Rrr.. Math Bad!!! *smash!* This is a big one and requires much dragging, kicking and screaming back to the drawing board. What device? *crumple* *toss* *sigh* Those... if I can manage some basic math... will be along with the rest of it.
  16. Amii Lorring "Why am I a super-hero? I'm the only one who could fit in the suit." Players Name: Cotoloti Power Level: 6 Characters Name: Amii Lorring Alternate Identity: ... Height: 5' Weight: 110 lbs Hair: Black Eyes: Brown Description: Cute little half Asian girl. Rave/Urban style and no Hello Kitty thank you. History: I was born in Madrid, raised in London until the age of three, moved to Tokyo for two years and apparently learned a lot of Japanese which I can't recall any of. I can barely order sushi but I'm really good with chopsticks. My parents took me back home to the US and I grew up in Seattle. Not bad really. I remember liking Tokyo better but I liked my parents house in Seattle the best. There was no room to run around in Tokyo or London, except in the parks but in Seattle my parents house was really big and the back yard opened up onto conservation lands. Years passed and I grew up into the beloved and gifted young woman you see today. I have brains and I'm cute and I have lots and lots and lots of friends and acquaintances. Thank you world wide web. Between all the community sites and my personal blog I've got thousands of people willing to give me info within minutes of a post. It's amazing. In school I hung around with the geeks and gave them human socialization credits in exchange for programming know how and other clever things. I have a totally sweet home system courtesy of these hardcore nerds. They're so nerdy they never even play video games. Though one time they were really excited about one of the graphics engines. Go figure. So how did I get where I am now? A real metal head? Well like I said before. I'm a super-hero because I'm the only one who could fit in the suit. These hardcores decided to give themselves a challenge. They wanted to build a super suit. They had money. Hey half of them had patents on technologies already. So they started building. They get about halfway done and they've already sunk a ton of money into the technology when they start to actually consider the driver. They all want to drive but they don't, deep down, really want to get shot at. Maybe it was that, buried in all their subconscious when they finished the inner shell. They'd made it too small. Someone had carried a one or moved a decimal. No matter how it happened they had a suit of armor that not even the smallest of them could fit in. That's about the time I dropped by to see how things were going and pointed that little fact out to them. "What were you guys thinking? This thing is built for a kid and you do not want a kid running around with this. Oh man can you imagine the fun they'd have?" I put it on to show them just how small it was and they all got this funny look. Next thing I know I'm down to my underwear and no one is even interested in the fact. It hurts a girls feelings a little bit. So they take measurements. Really, really detailed and embarrassing measurements. They got a few smacks along the way for that but they hardly noticed. They took castings. Finally a few weeks later they started showing me how the internal mechanisms would work. I was speechless. This was mind blowing stuff. Sci-fi in realtime. The stuff they were coming up with was amazing and they were all going to be billionaires someday. And they all want me to use the suit. Fortunately for these geeks I wasn't so smart that I didn't play video games. Thank you first person shooters with over complicated controls. Time passed. It took them all semester but they finished the armor. They'd worked 24-7 and had to do a little creative rewriting of the schools grading systems so that no one made a fuss of their prolonged absences. We did test runs out in the foothills. I discovered a lot of super-hero in training facts. I fell over a lot. A few things blew up, completely accidentally I swear! It was a steep learning curve. Never EVER give yourself a forehead smack when you have super strength and don't have it quite under control yet. Also make sure that you take your first test flight on an empty stomach. Set us back a week and they made me do all the cleaning! Finally we were done. We had a working super suit and a pilot - me! - and now all we had to do was go find some bad guys.
