  1. "Yeah, she just kind of...walked off into the darkness. She looked drunk in the vision. It was kind of confusing, since I saw two different girls when I tried to get a read from the shoe. One of them was fleeing from a man and a boy, and was struck with the bottle. The other one was holding that bottle and staggering like she was drunk."

  2. "The vision was a little unclear, but I think they came from there." says Catherine, pointing in the direction opposite of where the digesting monster came from. "I'm fine with sticking together, really...but we should probably hurry, before those things eat someone else."

  3. I loved Friday, up until the end where she marries you-know-who. Still love the character, but not so much how the book ends. But again, Heinlein was a nutty guy, and you have to love him for it, even when you hate him. ;)

  4. "Evil Dead? No, I hate horror movies" says Catherine, brushing off her pants and gathering up her things. "There's nothing but trees in there though, right? No graves or anything, so we shouldn't have to worry about any evil dead things, eh?" she says, completely unaware of the reference.

    Agents of Freedom

    Annual

    The non-existent 2E Meta-4 setting book

    Stuff I'm not interested in:

Masterminds Manual (none of the options appeal to me)

Ultimate Power (ditto; I like to keep my games simple)

Paragons (I don't really need another settings book)

  6. Sorry dude, but I saw No Country for Old Men, and it was awesome. It has an ending; maybe you don't like it, but that's the ending. He lives. Evil Prevails. The world is a terrible, dark place, and that's why it's not a place for "old men". The sheriff realizes this, and retires.

  7. I love Heinlein, though I think Friday is more enjoyable than Starship Troopers in some ways. That said, I think it's safe to say that you'll find something objectionable in any of his books...he had a lot of weird ideas about politics and society, and he was never shy about pushing them across in his writing. Of course, that's why I love his books.

I consider ST to be the best argument I've ever heard in favor of fascism/militarism; as someone fairly opposed to those ideas in real life, I found it educational to read it, think about it, and refute the ideas on my own. And of course, the best thing about any Heinlein book (in my opinion) is the main character, who is likeable as always.

  8. Catherine holds her nose distastefully and takes a few steps away from the corpse. "While it's certainly...bothersome that this thing was stalking around this park at night, I really think we should focus on one thing at a time. Like I said earlier, this is clearly not the creature we're looking for. How about we pair up and search around the park?"

  9. Catherine awoke from her trance slowly, taking her time to let her mind and body adjust to reality again. Her hands shook a little as she gratefully accepted a swig of the flask, then handed it back to Lt. Colby.

"That was...intense. But I think I got a clear view of where they went...if only we can find that part of the forest." she said, slowly rising to her feet again, stepping gingerly until she's sure that her ankle isn't really injured.

She recites what she saw in the vision in detail, hoping that perhaps Colby or Ginny might know what part of the forest that might be.

"What ever we do, it has to be soon." Catherine says, as she reaches the end of her description. "I have a bad feeling about this."
