  1. No, it's nothing terrible on my end...and it's kind of a long story. It's been a blast playing with you guys though. :)
  2. Catherine recoils in disgust, thrusting her hands towards the beast to unleash a torrent of mystic energy, in hopes of destroying the thing. http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1672495/ Attack roll of 17.
  3. I'm really very sorry, but I'm no longer able to continue in this game. I hate to bail on such short notice, but it really is unavoidable on this case. :(
  4. Her damage saves: 1d20+8 → [20,8] = (28) 1d20+8 → [9,8] = (17) http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1668096/
  5. Catherine stumbles backwards in horror, scrabbling to her feet clumsily and preparing herself for combat Initiative: 7 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1658073/
  6. Catherine jumps back in horror. "Aaaah! He's still alive!" she cries, scrabbling away from the convulsing body.
  7. Catherine squints and carefully examines the area, deliberately perusing the area rather than simply glancing around this time. Search check: 27 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1636516/
  8. Ah geez...I'm really sorry. I had stopped checking while you were away, and then I got caught up doing training and stuff at my new job. :(
  9. Sorry, work was really thick this week. I still want to play through this though.
  10. Catherine looks around a bit more carefully, trying to spot any more of those creatures (unlikely, with an 8) http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1623699/ Confident for the time being that the moaning must be coming from further away, she tries to lead the others towards the moaning, hoping that it might lead to a clue.
  11. Catherine took a deep breath and, with an air of resignation, follows behind Nightshyft with as much confidence as she can manage which is...not very much at all, really.
  12. "Yeah, she just kind of...walked off into the darkness. She looked drunk in the vision. It was kind of confusing, since I saw two different girls when I tried to get a read from the shoe. One of them was fleeing from a man and a boy, and was struck with the bottle. The other one was holding that bottle and staggering like she was drunk."
  13. "The vision was a little unclear, but I think they came from there." says Catherine, pointing in the direction opposite of where the digesting monster came from. "I'm fine with sticking together, really...but we should probably hurry, before those things eat someone else."
  14. "That's it!" cried Catherine, pointing excitedly at the bottle. "That's what they hit me...I mean her...with! We're getting close!" She rushed forward, being careful not to trample over any tracks that might have been left. Most likely nature has reclaimed most of the footprints, but it's best to be careful. 15. Was I able to get any idea of what direction the creatures in the vision came from?
  16. I loved Friday, up until the end where she marries you-know-who. Still love the character, but not so much how the book ends. But again, Heinlein was a nutty guy, and you have to love him for it, even when you hate him. ;)
  17. I'm always hearing such nice things about it. At some point I might give it enough of a browsing to figure out why I might need it, but the regular book has been enough for me thus far.
  18. "Evil Dead? No, I hate horror movies" says Catherine, brushing off her pants and gathering up her things. "There's nothing but trees in there though, right? No graves or anything, so we shouldn't have to worry about any evil dead things, eh?" she says, completely unaware of the reference.
  19. 1E Core Rulebook Freedom City Foes of Freedom Crooks! Time of Crisis Gimmick's Guide to Gadgets 2E Core Rulebook Freedom City Book of Magic (PDF) Hero High (PDF) Iron Age (PDF) Iron Age villains supplement (PDF) Time of Vengeance Stuff I want (I think): Worlds of Freedom Agents of Freedom Annual The non-existent 2E Meta-4 setting book Stuff I'm not interested in: Masterminds Manual (none of the options appeal to me) Ultimate Power (ditto; I like to keep my games simple) Paragons (I don't really need another settings book)
  20. Sorry dude, but I saw No Country for Old Men, and it was awesome. It has an ending; maybe you don't like it, but that's the ending. He lives. Evil Prevails. The world is a terrible, dark place, and that's why it's not a place for "old men". The sheriff realizes this, and retires.
  21. I love Heinlein, though I think Friday is more enjoyable than Starship Troopers in some ways. That said, I think it's safe to say that you'll find something objectionable in any of his books...he had a lot of weird ideas about politics and society, and he was never shy about pushing them across in his writing. Of course, that's why I love his books. I consider ST to be the best argument I've ever heard in favor of fascism/militarism; as someone fairly opposed to those ideas in real life, I found it educational to read it, think about it, and refute the ideas on my own. And of course, the best thing about any Heinlein book (in my opinion) is the main character, who is likeable as always.
  22. My laptop has been running Ubuntu for a couple of months. My desktop has XP, but I took an old HD and installed Ubuntu just to play around.
  23. Catherine holds her nose distastefully and takes a few steps away from the corpse. "While it's certainly...bothersome that this thing was stalking around this park at night, I really think we should focus on one thing at a time. Like I said earlier, this is clearly not the creature we're looking for. How about we pair up and search around the park?"
  24. Catherine awoke from her trance slowly, taking her time to let her mind and body adjust to reality again. Her hands shook a little as she gratefully accepted a swig of the flask, then handed it back to Lt. Colby. "That was...intense. But I think I got a clear view of where they went...if only we can find that part of the forest." she said, slowly rising to her feet again, stepping gingerly until she's sure that her ankle isn't really injured. She recites what she saw in the vision in detail, hoping that perhaps Colby or Ginny might know what part of the forest that might be. "What ever we do, it has to be soon." Catherine says, as she reaches the end of her description. "I have a bad feeling about this."
  25. It's a move for the better, but it distracted me enough that I've been awol for a few days. Sorry about that.
