This grew out of a silly idea. I was looking to make a perception range telepath and then I realized it'd be a lot more cost efficient to make them touch range. Then I got to thinking, "touch range telepathic powers? who could do that?" Vulcans. That's who. So this is basically a Vulcan with expanded telepathic powers beyond the mind meld. I would say they have "jedi powers", but jedi powers seem to be more physically offensive (besides the obvious and famous "mind trick"). In lieu of that, they got lightsabers. Dammit, I'm crossing the sci-fi streams! This can't be good at...

    Max explodes.

Well, that was unfortunate. Mechanically, the Vulcan Jedi is all about getting up in your face and making you submit mentally. You may think they need less Mental Disciplines. Good on you. shuffle those points into feats. Speaking of feats. This sci-fi jam is a great grappler. For skills I've decided to make it a little bit suped up in a few places. Acrobatics for flippy stuff. The big deal changer here is Diplomacy. Maybe you don't want them to be a great talker. Maybe you want them to be a sly type (Bluff) or threatening (Intimidate). If you do, don't forget to incorporate that into your feats (Startle, Taunt, Distract, Fascinate, and the like).

So yeah, start flinging the comments and critiques!

  2. I'm looking to expand my repertoire. So I've come to you for help. I make characters. You savage said characters critically. I learn! Also, I'll take requests too. They can be as weird or as mundane as you want. I'll try to make them. Then when they're done, we repeat process of posting and criticizing.

Sound good? Let's give it a go, shall we?

  3. Tenebrous sighed at the sight of the unfazed Crusaders. "See," the formless blob stated matter-of-factly, "You guys are no fun. No fun at all." She formed back into her normal costumed identity and crossed her arms, mocking the big man. "I am going to give you one chance here." She floated over to the big man meeting him face to face. She smiled facetiously and tapped her hip like an owner calling her dog. "Chase me, you big dumb cracker." She winked and then flew out of the building as fast as she could.

  4. I really didn't want to give it languages other than it's native tongue, but maybe it picked up English and Latin from Cindy's memories. Either way you don't want to hear it talk in it's true voice.

Changed the Flight and Drawbacks as you said.

The Portal extra is +2, which would make the math (2+1=3) + (2+1+2+1=6) = 9

Detecting Memories isn't reading them, it's detecting the holder of the memory. Sort of like you looking at the can of food and not knowing what's inside until you open it up and taste it.

  5. Player Name: Maxine Walters

    Character Name: Musique

    Power Level: 7 (105/105PP)

    Trade-Offs: +1 Defense / -1 Toughness

    Unspent Power Points: 0

    Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30

In Brief: Girl with psychic powers channels them into music.

Alternate Identity: Angela Rose (real name), Angel of the Notes (web critic moniker)

    Identity: Secret

    Birthplace: Freedom City

Occupation: High School Student, Internet Music Critic

    Affiliations: Claremont Academy

Family: "oh, we could be sitting here for a while"

    Description:

    Age: 16 (DoB: October 1996)

    Apparent Age: late teens/early twenties

    Gender: Female

Ethnicity: Multiracial (her mother's heritage is African, Indian, Middle Eastern and Spanish; her father's is heritage Chinese, Filipino, Mexican and Italian)

    Height: 5'5"

    Weight: 130 lbs

    Eyes: Green

    Hair: Black

Angela is brown. Her very mixed heritage makes her features very exotic. She's been mistaken for every ethnicity under the sun. Her figure, top and bottom, belies her age; some thinking she's old as her mid twenties. Her hair is coarse and long enough to tie into braids on her side. When not in costume, she's almost always in a crop top, a long skirt that reaches her ankles and a pair of sandals. She doesn't have a costume, if she needs one she wears the Claremont issued suit. While not consciously doing it, her voice is somewhat sing-song.

Power Descriptions: She has psychic powers that allow her music to have mental effects on everyone that can hear it. It can make them feel better or worse. It can make them remember good or bad memories. Her powers are almost subtle, but if you listen to when she's using her powers there's a slight reverb even when there's not supposed to be. Be it her voice or an instrument, it's always is there.

History: From very early on, Angela was trained in the musical arts. Her family, being musician, want to instill their love for music. Even before she could understand, she heard music. All sorts of music, day and night. Her parents prided the her "first word" was a note. As she grew older she picked up musical instruments too, particularly strings and keys instruments. This all mixed well with her ability to sing. After years and years of practice it was ingrained into her, which made the next transition in her life unbearable.

Starting in her tween years she would get heavy headaches when things were quiet. The void of music would actively hurt her. She began sleeping with the radio on and an mp3 player in her ears. Eventually even that didn't work. The only thing that really worked is when she was actively making the music herself. It came to a head when, after about a month of sleepless nights, she fell into a deep sleep. She was met with her first dream in a while.

It was her, dressed up as an angel. The dream version of herself, a manifestation of her precognitive abilities, told her that all she needed to do was unleash her power. She had no idea what the dream meant, but she noticed she wasn't hurting anymore. The dream mentioned that if she really wanted some help that she would need to go to the Albright Institute and Claremont Academy. She was confused, was she some kind of superhero now? The dream told her that when she woke up she would be rested and to not ignore her own warning.

In the morning she found that she was rested, just like the dream said. She wasn't going to make light of this. She headed to Albright and they tested her her brain power and surely enough, she manifested her powers. It was when she sang that psychic energy trace began to show. Anyone who heard the lilting tune was filled with dread. She was asked to sing a more upbeat song. When she did, everyone was happy. They poked and prodded her mind until they found everything she could do. They then sent her to Claremont Academy to study how to control her powers.

Personality & Motivation: While not totally a space cadet, it is safe to say that she's not thinking on the same level as anyone else in the room. Being a cynic is something she puts into her online character, but outside of that she's pretty much an optimist. Also her curiosity is something she keeps satisfied all the time.

Powers & Tactics: Definitely not a fighter. She relies on her voice to soothe things down.

    Complications:

Camera Obsession: She always has a camera and is not afraid to use it. She's also not shy about getting snapped either.

Curious: She will never pass up a chance to do something once. She will never pass up a chance to go see something that's caught her eye.

Internet Famous: She has a weekly show where she reviews top 40 songs. She's very noticeable amongst a subset of people. Also, this is her responsibility.

Mistaken Age: She looks very mature for her age. May be mistaken for a teacher around campus or hanging out with the wrong age group on the outside.

Musical Accompaniment: She needs some kind of music for her powers to work.

Not Too Quiet: If she can't hear anything musical, she suffers from debilitating headaches.

  6. Tenebrous was already floating away before the critique could be finished. This will be awesome, she thought, I will be all like evil cackle and 'FEAR ME!'. She disappeared into the tenement and down the stairs into the basement where the Crusaders were hiding. The big black blob of entropy spoke in a voice she deemed to be terrifying! "Crusaders! You have picked the wrong people to mess with! For I am the cold darkness that creeps in at midnight! I am the creepy feeling of remorse you are feeling right now! I! Am! Tenebrous!"

The Crusaders didn't look scared. They looked surprised at the big blob of darkness and sort of pissed off.

  9. (22:48:47) AvengerAssembled: And your cosmic energy controller was able to whip out an emotion controlling effect with what justification?

    (22:49:37) Max: entropy

    (22:49:46) Max: she controls entropy

    (22:50:12) AvengerAssembled: So none?

(22:50:31) Max: the end of all things isn't scary?

(22:50:58) Gizmo: Not as an appreciable Emotion Control effect, no.

(22:51:27) Gizmo: Threatening someone with the use of your powers is just an Intimidate check.

(22:51:54) Max: i'll do something else then

    (22:52:00) AvengerAssembled: Good call.

(22:56:04) Max: right. I'll still go with the display, but not the stunt

    (22:56:19) Max: be unimpressed :P

(22:56:21) Quinn: Sorry, Max - going for the scary was a bad call on my part.

    (22:57:11) Max: both of you

    (22:57:35) Arichamus: Indeed.

    (22:58:45) Quinn: Aye-aye

  10. When Crow started planning the drop, she nodded. "Scary, huh," she questioned rhetorically, "I think I can do that." She looked around, being quiet for a moment and then letting our a loud scream while flailing her arms. Crow and King of Suits couldn't have been impressed by that. She snickered, "OK OK, I will be serious now." Focusing inward she tapped into her dark powers. Her black outline engulfed her wholly until she was nothing more than a large black blob of darkness with silver eyes that seemed to be focusing on anyone who looked at it. "Avert your eyes for I am fear incarnate. The ender of all things." This was bound to be scary!

  11. My reason for absence

OK, the idea i had was going to be three stages. One an 80s game, the next a 90s game and then a 00s game (though he's a nostalgic chap so maybe 00s, 90s then 80s?). I want a maze game, a race game and puzzle game.

00s Portal (perfect blend of all three types)

90s Mario Kart (race, everyone gets a kart, except for speed kitty :P)

80s Pac-Man (maze, you will be the ghosts chasing him down)

  12. I apologize for being gone so long. I've been through a very low, dark point in my life and I'm slowly climbing back up. I ask that you bear with me. I understand if you can't. Just a fair warning.

  13. Player 2 is a villain who can suck people into realistic video game style simulations. He uses these to trap heroes because... he's evil? Well, sort of like Lawful Evil with some Lawful Neutral tendencies. He believes in not cheating and playing The Game. He's also not a "psycho", he doesn't kill or go after heroes personally. He just uses his powers to commit robberies it seems.

So I ask of you, my fellow heroes, who wants to be sucked into a video game? Pac-Man? Halo? Darksiders II? Super Mario Brothers 2?

I'll be taking up to two or three characters. May character will be two or three if those spaces aren't filled. Any interest?

  14. Tenebrous listened to the explanation and smiled when King of Suits gave her a little inkling that this guy would be put away for a very long time. It was a futile hope. Lilian just didn't see the career criminal mindset. Yeah, she was sort of one, but she was more a kid with power acting out and getting what she wanted. Was this what these career criminals were doing? Turning their selfish desires into focused thoughts? Making a living out of it? She tried that once. It was not for her. All those men dead, she thought with a sigh and pulled back her hair again.

Tenebrous listened to the skinhead speak. She smirked as hope shine across his face. She floated over to him, and patted him on the head. "You have attempted murder with eleven other men," she said looking him directly in the eye, her voice half comforting and half informatively stern, "I do not know how American justice system works, but if you serve time and be on good behavior." She sighed more frustrated than not, "Listen I would love to sit here and pick your brain but apparently your Super Hater is on the loose. We talk about this later?" She looked over to Crow and King of Suits, "We have direction now!"

(16:20:52) Arichamus: Which is which Max?

(16:21:09) Max: first is pop culture, second is streetwise.

  16. Tenebrous cocked her head to the side when she heard the name White Knight. Where had she heard that name before? She did a squuint of remembering. The only thing she COULD remember is that he was a racist American, possibly with superpowers? He gets ran out of The Fens every now and then. "Well, why have they not locked this guy away for good," she asked thinking out loud. "He is obviously harmful if he can get that many people under his control." Tenebrous pondered as she floated in her lotus position. She snapped out of her pondering when she realized that those addresses were close to or right on where she was supposed to be now! "Crow! King! We must hustle! My mission is where those fools are!"
