Announcing "Gold" Player Status!

In an effort to reward players that have demonstrated longevity and commitment by actively role-playing the same character over a lengthy span of months, we will be awarding players who have earned 31+ PPs with a single character "Gold" Status.

What does it mean to be "Gold"? I'm glad you asked.

Gold players will be allowed to have two PL 10+ characters instead of the normal PL 10+ and PL 6+. Gold players with an existing PL 6+ character can immediately advance it to PL 10 (if they want), and any new characters they create (after retiring old ones) can be created at any PL between 6 and 10. Players are still, however, limited to only two active characters at once.

So . . . a big thanks to our dedicated players! Keep up the good work.

Oh, and keep and eye out for "Platinum" status . . . coming soon. ;)

Also, note that these characters are reaching 1yr old this month as well.

Nightrival Oct 29th

Velocity Oct 25th

The Emissary Oct 25th

It's only fitting that they reach gold status when the site reaches its first year mark.

Congratulations!  :bunny:

And now MBCE (for GHost) and me (for Dr. Archeville) are Gold status!

And now we're going to see how the reward for Gold status -- upgrading an existing PL 6 char to PL 10 -- will work.

The PL 10 version will be submitted to the Character Bank, just like any new PL 10 character, with two exceptions. First, you won't need to include the background and personality and such, since those are still on the PL 6 char sheet, though you should include some text on any changes to powers and skills and such. Second, you should post [Gold Upgrade] in the title of the thread, so we'll know it's an upgrade request and not a truly new character.

The PL 10 version would need to be approved, just like any other character.

Once it is approved, one of the following happens:

* If the upgrade is to take place immediately, and for all active threads the char is currently in, the new tats will be edited into the existing char sheet, removing the old stats in the process.

* If the upgrade is to wait, if the lower PL stats are still being used in an active thread, then the approved PL 10 stats will instead be added to a new post at the end of the character's existing sheet. Once the upgrade does take effect, the stats will be edited in to replace the lower PL ones. Any pps earned while still playing the lower PL version (after the PL 10 one had been approved) would go to the PL 10 one.

What happens when you upgrade a PL6 who has already earned some power points above his/her starting total? Are those earned points just "lost," or added to the base 150PP for a PL10?

Example: My PL6 started with 90PP, and has earned 5PP during play. I hit Gold Status and upgrade him to PL10. Do I rebuild him with 150PP, or 155PP?

So the PP earned up to that point are just...gone?

Because those PP have...seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships, on fire off the shoulder of Orion. They watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those...moments, will be lost in time, like...tears, in the rain.

The things they saw will still be in the backstory and adventures your character built up while he/she/it was played.

It was determined that this would be the fairest way for all the non-Gold folks -- you're already getting a big award by being allowed to play two PL 10 characters, while everyone else gets one PL 10 and one PL 6.

They aren't gone per se. They are the cost of having a character jump to PLs instantly. The question is wheter you want to get to the higher PL the slow method, or the fast method.
