Byzantine clobbered the two werewolves with a one-two combination. The beast's skulls were far harder than he anticipated, and their bodies far heavier, but he still managed to deliver two sizable blows. The werewolves went flying back about 25 feet before they came crashing down to the street. The one to Byzantine's left appeared to be completely lifeless.

Agnes, however, had a more difficult time of it. As she swung her blade and unleashed its energy wave, the werewolves leaped into the air. The wave passed harmlessly under them, before they nimbly landed again on all fours. In a second the beasts had renewed their attack on Agnes, ripping at her flesh with their claws.

All of Agnes' flesh was sparkling and glowing. The werewolf's claws shredded her shirt across her shoulder and down her arm. The beast didn't leave a mark on her skin, but the viciousness of the blow ripped her sleeve clean off.

Agnes took the sword in both hands and pointed the blade at the werewolf. A brilliant shaft of energy shot forward at her opponent, but the werewolf jumped out of the way just in time.

Byzantine turned the unfortunate werewolf into a flailing projectile. It crashed into its already battered pack member, sending them both sprawling out onto the street, unmoving. The final werewolf lunged at Celestia, but at the last moment it leaped right over her head and began running at full speed down the street. It was beating a hasty retreat. Apparently discretion being the better part of valor wasn't a principle exclusive to humans.

Agnes jerked her head around only to catch a glimpse of her first opponent being snatched away. When she spun back around again, her second opponent was half-way down the street, running away at full steam. "What? Hey!" At the sight of the creature running away, Agnes was nearly overcome with a strange mixture of relief and anger. "How dare he!" In that moment she bent all of her will toward stopping that savage beast. She was encased in a brilliant light and found herself lifting slowly off the ground.

"This is really, really new!"

Instinctively, Agnes pointed her sword at the fleeing werewolf. A bolt of energy sped along the blade and struck the creature square in the back.

Byzantine delivered the final blow to the last werewolf, sending it sprawling across the asphalt with the others. Immediately, all four beasts began to glow red. It was faint at first, but slowly grew brighter. There was no obvious source for the light. It seemed to be emanating from the unmoving bodies of the hairy creatures.

Agnes was oblivious to the glow. As soon as the final werewolf was down, her attention was entirely devoted to untangling the people beneath the tent. Agnes focused her will again, and slowly began to descend to the street. She stumbled when her feet touched the ground, but caught herself before she fell. Her fellow church members were still struggling to get out from under the collapsed tent. Agnes easily lifted it off the ground and tossed it aside, and then she stooped down to see who was hurt and how she could help.

"Umm... this isn't you, right? I mean, you're not the one making get all glowy."

Agnes didn't turn to face Byzantine when he spoke. She kept her attention focused on the injured people. "It's not me," she yelled back. "Don't move, Mr. Zodhiates. It looks like your arm is broken." Agnes stepped over the injured man and knelt beside the man's daughter. She looked to be about 10 years old, and she wasn't moving. Blood was flowing freely from a huge gash in her head. "It's going to be okay, Jen," Agnes said, but she sounded concerned. Agnes closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Her hands began to glow as she stretched them out over the unmoving girl. Gently, she lowered her hands, placing them on the girls head and chest. The girl began to glow too and after only a few seconds, she opened her eyes.

"Agnes, is that you?" the girl said weakly.

"Yeah, it's me Jen. You got whacked on the head, but you're going to be fine."

Mr. Zodhiates watched, mouth agape as his daughter was healed. He wanted to exclaim, "Its a miracle" but he knew how Father Enos felt about the subject, so he kept his mouth shut. "Agnes!" he yelled. "Look!" He pointed over to the glowing werewolves. "What is that?"

Agnes stood up and turned to look at the bright red glow. "I don't know," she said, shaking her head.
