Players Name: Justin S.

Power Level: 10 (150pp)

Characters Name: Nathan Pane

Alternate Identity: Spade

Height: 6’3

Weight: 195lbs

Hair: Long and brown

Eyes: Green

Description:

Nathan is very handsome man. Tall and thin, he is your stereotypical knight in shining armor type. The ladies love him, not only because of his appearance but because he is charming to boot. He dresses in nice expensive clothes and drives around in fancy expensive sports cars. Unfortunately, due to past events he carries a certain sadness in his eyes.

As Spade, he dresses in roguish renaissance-style fashion. A bandana mask hides his face. A cape flares out behind him with a dramatic touch. Leather gloves and boots give him a very highwayman or Zorro like charm. Under the old fashioned costume lies lightweight ballistics armor complete with hidden compartments.

History:

Nathan was interested in entertaining from a very young age. He joined a circus intent on becoming a clown, but soon discovered he had a flair for stage magic and illusions. He married young and left the circus to try and turn his stage magic into an actual profession. Despite his skills he was barely bringing in enough money to support his family. Due to the stress of finances and Nathan’s penchant for flirting with other women, his wife and child left. Divorce followed and Nathan started experiencing fits of depression. Reduced to playing con games on the streets of Vegas, Nathan’s powers of manual quickness and dexterity would soon erupt. Having cheated the wrong two thugs out of their money, he was beat up pretty badly. The thugs broke his hands leaving him with no way to earn a living. Over the next few months of physical therapy, as his hands healed, he noticed the change. His powers were subtle, but he had the wits to turn those subtle powers into quite a super phenomenon. It seemed he gained a supernatural quickness and dexterity, especially in his hands and arms. He started to hit the gym and practiced the acrobatic training the circus initially introduced him too. He would become the most amazing stage magician the world had ever seen. His physical fitness would allow him to put on a show most other stage magicians could only be jealous of.

Nathan’s hard work paid off. His power-enhanced skills allowed him to pull off illusions no other magician could match. When combined with his acrobatic routines, he quickly made a name for himself. Each show he performed would pull in tens of thousands of dollars. It was time to make amends with his wife...

Unfortunately, the fates had other ideas. Only weeks after him and his ex-wife started courting again there was an incident. His wife and young son, while making a routine trip to the bank were caught in the middle of a bank heist. They, along with many others, were taken as hostages. In short, the situation went bad; his ex-wife was shot and killed. His son was also shot and now rests silently in a coma. Lost and hopeless without his family, Nathan decided it was time to make yet another change. If the fates wanted to thrust his life into a bad comic book plot, so be it! He started donning a costume and became the vigilante known as Spade. He brought his son to Freedom City in hopes that their advanced medical programs would be able to revive him. Until then, Spade would help keep such and incident from happening to any other family.

Hmm. Did you try to post in the main forum, or inside one of the subforums (Heroes, Villains, and so on)? You seem to have the proper access to the main forum, since you were able to respond to the thread.

Looking over your sheet, here's what I see:

1. Your Wisdom modifier is +3, not +4.

2. You're listing a +3 to your Toughness from your armor, but the equipment says that it's +4. I'd go with what it says in the save, since +4 Toughness, Subtle armor is pushing the limits of equipment.

3. Your Will save should be 3/+8, since you're spending 5 pp extra on saves and the base modifier is +3 (see above).

4. Your equipment is too cheap. The flashbang pellets cost 16 ep, and the armor costs 4 ep (assuming that it's +3). The other items require 1 ep as Alternate Powers of the flashbang pellets. This means you'd need Equipment 5 (and would have 2 ep left over for other APs, such as bolos or even a boomerang).

Those were the only problems mechanically, but I have some suggestions on the sheet.

First, your character is a PL 10, but between his attack and defense tradeoff values, he's more like PL 7 or 8. He also has fairly low saves for his PL. I'd be concerned about being knocked out in fights unless you intend to be going against the lower-PL villains. I'd strongly recommend reducing some of his skills to start and growing into them with the pp that you earn. You could take off 2 ranks from each of them and still be a virtual master of your higher-ranked skills. That would save you 6 pp to spend on other things, such as Attack Focus (ranged), Defensive Roll, Dodge Focus, or saves.

Second, what does he swing from? I couldn't tell from his background.

Third, I'd remove the sentence about the "bad comic plot". It seems to break the fourth wall a little more than what we want to have here.

Other than those things, it looks like a very solid submission.

I think I will take the advice/experience of the GM. He suggested my attack values and saves may be too low. Being KO'd every scene doesn't sound like fun. Let's go ahead and delete this character for now, till I get better acquainted with how the games around her are run.

I'll be posting Manbat here soon instead.
