The Yamaguchi Job

Badb was tempted to give chase after the men, but they would provide her no challenge. No, she wasn't likely to face real battle until she got to the other side of the door. "I don' think they left the key. What do ye say we knock on the door until someone lets us in?" Badb fires upon the door with a great deal of precision. She waits for the glow to dim to see her effect on the barrier before her.

(OOC: Expletive! I hate wasting nat 20's on non-combat rolls.)

The door blows open to reveal crates upon crates that form some kind of maze. As the dust settles, the sound of gears moving fromsomething in the back draws your attention. It doesn't take long to see the source of the commotion as four large robots come into view. As soon as they step out of the back room, they form a wall before the destroyed doors and begin firing into the warehouse.

Bullets fly about hitting both Badb and Ironhide. The bullets rip into the boat that Void is standing on but fails to hit the girl.

Badb takes the hit square in the chest, knocking her into a fog and sending her flying back into the sails of the ship behind her. The pain from the shot is such that Badb cannot move for a moment. But she certainly is angry now.

Exile's answer to the arrival of the robots is quite simple in its intention at least; remove this new obstacle as expediently as possible. The way he acts on that isn't quite as simple, though it is straightforward. Deciding that since these mechanical guardians can't simply be subdued, and kept intact, through the means at their disposal just about anything goes.

The ancient mystic distorts space through sheer willpower, with no one needing to be fooled he doesn't bother with any extraneous gestures or words. Besides, he'll need his concentration firmly on what he's about to do.

Stepping out behind one of the robotic combatants the tall wielder of magic pours most of his available power into bringing into being what was once one of his most formidable means of attack. In an instant what seems like a black sword of simple design comes into being in his right hand, and the moment it forms he swings it against the back of the foe. As it moves through the air the blade doesn't seem to catch the light in any way. This is quite natural for the item in question, since there isn't anything there to catch the light, nor is anything there at all.

The remaining villains react quickly to the presence of the robots even as Badb flys back, stunned by the bullets that riddled her.

Exile moves directly behind one of the Robots, but is unable to hit. Ironhide moves around the yacht and delievers a powerful blow that shakes the robot greatly. Sparks sputter from the machine but it remains standing.

Void again uses her device and this time attacks from behind the robot. The blow is just enough to shake it into inaction for a short while.

The remaining active robot, turns on Exile and fires. Luckily for the mystic, his close proximity to the machine is enough to cause its trageting system to miss.

Exile again strikes out with his blast which hits easily. The corrosive touch of the blast fails to penertrate through the metal hide, but the blow itself wounds it slightly.

Ironhide strikes out at the staggered robot and manages to hit it squarely, however, the blow fails to damage the robot any further.

Badb shakes the cobwebs from her head and fires at the center robot. Unfortunately, her aim is very off and fails to hit its target.

Void, remains in place, studying the battle in her usual silent way.

The robots react to the attacks quickly. The first robot strikes out at Exile, easily hitting the mage with its fist. The second robot fires at the distant Badb but fails to hit the agile flier. The last robot, diverts power to its muscles before striking out at Ironhide. The blow is extremely powerful.

Ironhide finds himself stunned by the blow but the unresponsiveness of the robot that delievered the blow gives him a breather.

Void moves next to the stunned Ironhide and feints between the two remaining robots. Unable to follow compute the feint, the remaining active robot fires into its companion, destroying it completely.

Only one Robot remains in sight and active.

  • 4 weeks later...

The villians finish off the last robot and rush into the back room where they find various crates filling the room. To the north they see a large portal that looks something right out of the television shows. Crackling blue energy marks the portal and they can see the men in battle armor tossing crates through the energy.

One of the men spot the villians and curses, "They finished off the robots! Quick, get the stuff out of here." The other men each grab one last box before disappearing through the portal. The last man, moves to teh edge of the portal generator and begins pushing buttons.

Seeing the men trying disappearing through the portal, the villians all fire with their various weapons at either the portal or the man operating the machine. Their combine attack easily destroys the portal, trapping the lone man on this side.

It takes very little time for the villians to subdue the mercenary and remove his battle armor. "You don't know what you've gotten yourself into! They'll find and then you'll wish you never were born."

The villians laughed at the merc. "We don't care. We're getting paid for this job and anything beyond it won't matter. At least you'll never know what happens." The merc screamed as the villians made sure he would not be able to spread any tales.

With the merc dealt with, the group quickly searched the warehouse and found the indicated boxes. Only three were left. The rest must had been taken by the men that got away. The villians took what they could and quickly departed the scene before more attention could be drawn to their location.

After a short phone call, the boxes were delievered and they were paid.

Yamaguchi sat looking at the three boxes and frowned. He had hoped to get more out of the deal than just the three, but something was better than nothing. He would just have to make due with what he had. He placed his hand upon of the boxes and smiled broadly. Now he had an important piece of the puzzle. Yes, a very important piece.
