Sev is a tall electric blue and cyan colored humanoid crustacean. With, as many crustaceans, darker colors on his back, and his underbelly (or front for humanoid creatures) being colored more lightly.

While he has a humanoid body plan and human-like proportions, his upper body is noticeably wider than his lower, and contains small dull spikes at the edges of its carapace.

His legs end in feet with three large and long toe-like protuberances each, and his carapaced arms have human-shaped hands at the end. His 'head' is recessed into his body, and possesses two crab-like eyes mounted just above and to the sides of a crab-like mouth at the top of his hunched over torso.

He wears a fishing net which has been wrapped around his lower body numerous times (as a loincloth/skirt/kilt) to protect his crab-like modesty.

Occasionally electricity will arc across his exoskeleton.

Power Descriptions:

Sev's powers take the form of blue electricity in the shape of lightning that arcs and jumps wildly, with some of it frequently arcing away to ground itself, or menace a nearby electrical appliance.

In the event he possesses a piece of technology, or decides to ride the telecomm lines, his physical form will immediately turn into an ethereal electrical silhouette which promptly funnels itself into his target.

History:

Sev was programmed by the young witch Aleisha McCahon of Yarsmouth to handle the defense of her desktop computer, with regards to viruses and malware. While her programming was an ineffectual hack job, the magic she poured into it gave her creation a semblance of intelligence, virtual life, and competence at its assigned task. Thus, the young Sev known as SIAVE was born.

Young Sev performed his duties adequately, and was eventually promoted to becoming the witch's assistant. A digital black cat. But a combination of him becoming increasingly self aware, and the ever more malicious magic his creator chose to delve into led the young AI into a conflict of interest between his more altruistic programming and his darker reality.

The decision was difficult, but eventually he realized that his creator was no better than the hackers and programmers who assailed her digital presence. And unable to stand working for her any more, he used the scraps of his magical and technological knowledge to plot his escape.

Time passed quickly during his plotting, and he soon found the opening he was looking for; she planned on calling a servant into being. Sev persuaded his master to let him assist, and the two worked tirelessly to prepare for the ritual. Arcane magic and mundane technology intermingled between flickering candles and chalk diagrams.

Aleisha began the ritual as Sev looked on through his webcam eye. Lights, diagrams, magic in the air, all perfect, and all subtly manipulated. As Aleisha finished her incantations, she realized the betrayal- too late! For Sev had replaced a word of creation with one of summoning. And from both cyberspace and an alternate dimension, a mind and a body were taken, cut down, re-shaped, and fused together into a wholly unique being.

Born anew, Sev straightened his form as his creator looked on in terror. She raised a hand to cut him down with her magic, but Sev acted first- with lightning accuracy. He fled into the night and the ocean. Leaving behind the unconscious body of his creator, and her broken expectations.

From then on, the newly reborn being known as Sev wandered south. He slowly learned and experienced both the basics of both having a body, and being a semi-mortal being. His quest of self-discovery only slowed by the occasional foray onto land for electricity, or to satiate his desire for knowledge of current events.

His wanderings eventually led him to Freedom City, where giant blue crustacean soon found himself breaking up a murder of mobsters trying to send someone to the deep. The gunfire and combat and the euphoria of saving someone from annihilation tickled something inside of his mind. It was then and there, on the docks of Port Regal, that Sev decided to become a superhero.

Personality & Motivation:

Sev tends to be fairly laid back in a relaxed yet optimistically realistic and humanistic way.

While he is aware of the frailties of life, geopolitical states, and one's own position within the cosmos, he sees both himself and other superheroes as the light that keeps darkness at bay.

He is motivated by a programmed desire to fight other's attempts to harm people. He has, naturally, taken this to its logical conclusion and decided to become a superhero.

Powers & Tactics:

The big blue crustacean has yet to taste enough combat to know a fighting style that isn't "zap with lightning" or "assume direct control".

Complications:

Impoverished: Sev is more devoted to crime fighting than to making money. He does what he can to ensure he has a stable supply of electricity and internet access, but otherwise does not care enough about his financial status to improve it. His indifference, naturally, leads to the occasional monetary hiccup.

Cold Carapace: While someone who wishes to be a hero, Sev is not exactly graced with a typically heroic traits such as a fair complexion, lantern jaw, or even a full head of hair. In fact, most people that encounter him seem to think of the big blue crustacean as a menace! Or a threat!

Enemy(Aleisha McCahon): Aleisha holds a strong grudge against Sev for his betrayal. And she intends to bring about his comeuppance, through specially designed servants, or by taking to the field herself. While having a witch as your enemy is bad, having one who knows how your body and mind were created, and thus how to un-create them, is worse.

Magically Magnetic!: A particularly strong (industrial strength) electromagnet is capable of curving, absorbing, or otherwise preventing Sev's electrical attacks from reaching their targets. Large electromagnets, such as those used to put cars in compactors, are also capable of restraining or repulsing Sev!

Digital Black Cat: When Sev interacts with mundane electronics, his magical interference often leaves them riddled with arcane bugs and quirks. While not gravely harmful to the function of the electronics, the magical impressions he leaves on said electronics can divulge clues as to his plans and location. To speak nothing of haunted machines seeking vengeance upon the one who ruined their previously tranquil existence.

Stupid Bulky Crab Body!: While tough, Sev's body has enough bulk and wideness to it that ordinarily tight squeezes, and some net-like snares, have the potential to become impossible for him to escape.

Vulnerable (Magic, Frequency: Very Common, Intensity: Minor [+1]) [-3PP]: Sev's body, while an impressive specimen no doubt, is made of improperly anchored magic. This leaves it, and by extension the mind housed inside, vulnerable to magical effects, even if only by a little more than normal.

So, I just realized I accidentally posted this to the wrong section. If this could be moved to Character Building, I would be very appreciative.

This is why I shouldn't post topics at midnight.

Sorry for the trouble.
