Godmode is tall and thin, with sharp, angular features. He is clean shaven and has ghost-pale skin complemented by eyes and short, messy hair of similar tone. Generally speaking, Godmode wears a plain white office shirt, black tie and black pants held up with suspenders when out fighting evil. A constant part of his outfit is his signature VR headset and gloves, which these days he wears only for show. Both these contraptions are built of metal and some kind of plastic, painted a dull grey-blue. His eyes are regularly bloodshot and surrounded by dark rings, suggesting sleep difficulties, and his nails are chewed down to the quick, suggesting anxiety.

Power Descriptions:
Blast: A ray of crackling green energy which screeches as it pierces the air.

Area Blast: A whirling vortex manifests at the target location, creating a series of rippling, invisible threads which dismantle whatever they touch.

Illusion: The notion of subjective reality becomes true as a section of our world enters a simulation of Godmode's design.

Emotion Control: Signs of ancient and terrible power etch themselves into the ground at the target location, whilst also etching themselves into the psyche of those they affect.

Snare/Telekinesis: Ethereal, mechanical wire-tendrils shoot out from a nearby surface, grabbing whatever their summoner chooses.

Teleport/Flight: Godmode has learnt to transcend physical laws - he can bypass limitations of distance and move himself with sheer willpower.

Insubstantial/Invisibility: Godmode can will himself to "stop existing", losing his physical form to become an invisible spectre - a kind of real life noclip cheat.

Force Field: A ghostly orb similar in appearance to a plasma ball surrounds Godmode when he fights, protecting him from enemy attacks.

History:
Theodore "Ted" White was a computing prodigy, hailed as a genius for his programming expertise and contribution to the dot-com boom of the late '90s. At the time, he was one of few hackers playing with the idea of virtual reality software, something previously confined to science fiction. To this end, he spent years building and modifying prototype VR headsets which featured progressively more detailed and realistic digital worlds. These experiments were kept private - the headsets were personal projects which he refused to sell or distribute, much to the frustration of the software designers he rubbed shoulders with.

After burning through hundreds of models, Ted built the headset that would permanently change him. When he hooked it up, he entered the most vivid simulation he'd ever experienced - a world so strange and distant but at the same time so very, very real. An empty, lifeless void where figures of indeterminate form shifted about and muttered incomprehensibly in languages he'd never heard and certainly didn't invent. It was there that a powerful being which called itself D.E.M contacted him, claiming it could teach him the code of the universe.

Ted's visits to this unusual place grew more and more frequent. Soon enough, he found that he didn't even need the headset to go there. He saw this apparent simulation in his dreams and, as time progressed, whenever he closed his eyes. He stopped talking to friends and family, discarded the woman he loved and shut himself off from everything. Ted had to know what D.E.M had to teach.

A time came when the lessons ended and D.E.M's deadly agenda was revealed. The code was magic, the simulation was some kind of hell, D.E.M stood for Deus Ex Machina - God from the Machine - and Ted was being told all this in preparation to become this demon's next mortal vessel. After a test of power and wits, he escaped D.E.M's clutches. At that point, he knew he couldn't live as Ted White anymore. After gathering up his belongings and leaving behind everyone he knew, Ted faked his own death and disappeared from the public eye. From then on, he would be known as Godmode, the Reality Hacker.

Personality & Motivation:
Godmode is an extreme introvert, preferring to spend his time online rather than out in the open world. When not saving the world, he lives as a hermit in a dark apartment, surrounded by computers and sigils. His visions and realizations have given him a sense of responsibility - he must defend humanity from threats they don't even know exist.

Powers & Tactics:
Godmode relies heavily on the use of fear to quickly end violent conflicts, avoiding physical harm whenever possible. His magic grants him a wide array of powers with which he can terrify and disable his enemies before brute force becomes necessary. In fights that can't be solved by scaring the other side into submission, Godmode tries to end the confrontation quickly in an overwhelming, unrelenting arcane assault.

Complications:

Enemy: D.E.M.

Insomnia: Godmode has severe trouble getting to sleep, as he sees glimpses of other worlds and unsettlingly real nightmares whenever he closes his eyes.

More Machine Than Man: Godmode's mind is alien - he has seen bizarre, sanity-destroying things which have altered the way he thinks and acts. His presence is unsettling, and he can often feel cold to others, making communication difficult.

Secret: The fact that Godmode is actually Theodore White, a man believed to have been dead for years, is a closely-guarded secret that could ruin his reputation and enrage his former associates.

Sickly: Godmode's power is eating away at him physically - his hair, eyes and skin have been drained of colour and his body is weak and emaciated. There are days where he simply can't function properly, where he feels exhausted, sluggish and nauseous.

Virtual Insanity: Godmode hears voices in his head, whispers from the other world which can be distracting and at times maddening. At times, he can slip into a kind of seizure where he loses control of his movements and actions.

What an interesting sheet, Ed! I like this concept.

Some thoughts.

We generally set 24 as the cap for baseline human skills. You may want to shift part of that to Enhanced INT (maybe with INT 24/+7) and Enhanced INT 6 - that'll give you space to stunt mind tricks, a good thing for someone with such vast intelligence.

You may have some issues with the No Saving Throw (Reflex) with the other mods - it's something I personally like, but they may take issue with it. You should generally bring the array notation inline with that of our sample builds, so his sheet should have, say

Protection Array 14 (28 PP, PF: Alternate Power 1)

BE: Flight 3 (50 MPH/500 fpm) {6} + Force Field 12 (Extra: Impervious 10) {22} {22+6=28/28}

AP: Insubstantial 4 (mystic) {20} + Flight 1 (10 MPH/100 fpm) {2} = {22/28}

as what his arrays should look like

Hello Edvyn!  Sorry about the delay on this, I was off on vacation till recnetly.

I see a few things that need to be tidied up.

First, you have your tradeoffs wrong, they are only -2/+2 respectively.

Second, you have the total for your abilities wrong at 22, when it should be 28.  (You have it correct at the bottom of the sheet, and thus have actually accounted for it correctly)

On your combat block, instead of listing +8 Magic, you might want to list the specific attacks that have the accurate feat, as not all your Magic array has this (or even needs an attack bonus)

For the two Emotional Control alts in the Magic array, I am not sure you can use the No Saving Throw extra to overcome the Reflex save to lessen the area effect.  (I will talk with the other refs on that).  One option to prevent people from avoiding/lessening these area effects would be to make them targeted area effects, and pick up a rank or so of the accurate feat, depending on how things worked out.

I would point out that your Teleport 9 is somewhat of limited utility right now.  You do not have the Accurate extra on it, so you can only teleport to places you can either accurately perceive, or know very well.  (So really you are only going to be able to teleport long distances to places you know very well).

In your Protection Array, please list the Invisibility as Concealment 4 (All visual senses).  Also, you have to select a reasonably common effect that can still effect you even when Insubstantial.  Also, between having some effect that can still harm you while Insubstantial, and people having Affects Insubstantial on attacks, not having any toughness save when using that alt slot could be very dangerous (just so you know).

So, Edvyn, sorry for the continued delay in this, some RL things distracted me.

The Refs have talked about the issue I raised with the Emotion Control alt powers and reached the following decisions.

First, we all feel that this is an incorrect use of the No Saving Throw extra.  However, there are a couple of ways you can choose to try to accomplish what you want.:

   1) Is to drop both the No Saving Throw extra AND the Ranged flaw.  This has a net-zero effect on the power (but see below), as you are dropping both an extra and a flaw at the same time.  It also accomplishes just what you were trying to do, as the power goes back to being perception ranged, with a area burst (40' radius area as currently built).  Per the rules, when you have a power that is perception ranged and burst area, the targets in the burst area do NOT get a reflex save to avoid the burst, but still get the appropriate save to avoid the effec t (in this case a Will save).

  2) Is to drop the No Saving Throw extra, but keep the Ranged flaw.  You then make the power a targeted area attack (instead of burst area).  This requires you to make an attack roll to hit targets in the area, but they cannot otherwise avoid the area.  Not quite what you were going for, but still close.  You can use some of the points freed up by dropping the extra to get some ranks of accurate for the power.

Second, another issue that has come up for the refs is the use of two Emotion Control alternate slots, each limited to a different emotion.  While we can understand thematically why these would be the only two emotions that your character can use, it is felt that having the two alternate slots is still moving away from the limitations really being limitations.  Again, there are a couple of choices on what you can do to address this:

  1) Would be to just choose one of the emotions and drop the other.

  2) The other is to drop the flaw and instead have a -1 pp drawback for only being able to use the two emotions you list.  This of course will change the cost per rank of the power, as you only get a 1 pp reduction, instead of 1 pp per rank.

So, let me know what way you want to go (and when you have fixed the other issues I pointed out).
