Avalon® - Bloodseeker - PL 11 - Villain

Recommended Posts

Players Name: Avalon®

Power Level: 11 (153 PPs)

Unspent PPs: 2

Characters Name: Strygwyr the Bloodseeker

Alternate Identity: The Carnage, The Butcher

Height: 8’0â€Â

Weight: 530 lbs.

Hair: Dark red hair with black highlights

Eyes: Blood red with orange and black pinpricks on the irises.

_________________________________________________________

Description: Standing eight feet tall, Stygwyr is almost all muscle. Every inch of his olive green body, from his massive head to his legs that are the size of tree trunks, is covered in ritual scars and tattoos. Atop his head and shoulders rests the pelt of the largest polar bear in recorded history which he slew with nothing but his bare hands as a rite of passage. His arms each bear an ornate clawed bracer similar to the claws of a great cat.

_________________________________________________________

History: An unusual hybrid of Demon and a strain of ancient Atlanteans who had devolved considerably after the Great Cataclysm, Strygwyr is an outcast amongst all mortal creatures. By thriving on and bathing himself with the blood of those he slays, Strygwyr can heal his wounds - even those that could prove fatal. Beware the fool who dares venturing alone, for Strygwyr can sense his blood miles away and gain vison through his helpless prey's eyes. Having ruptured the enemy with mighty blows in his bloodthirsty frenzies, Strygwyr corners his foe into making the impossible decision - bleed to death by trying to outrun the hasty demon, or be ripped to shreds in its awesome fury.

1.

Attack: (+4 base/ +12 [melee])/ (+2 base/ +10 [melee]) - 4 pp

Defense: (+4 base/ +3 [flat-footed])/ (+2 base/ +1 [flat-footed]) - 4 pp

Just to be clear, you are only buying 2 ranks of each: Attack and Defense? How are you getting the first entry on each line ("+4 base")? Is that from the Boost? Does it include the penalties for Growth?

2.

Bloodbath - Healing 1 (Extra: Reaction [+4], Total [+1], Personal [-1], Limited - Only after killing something [-2], Persistent, Regrowth) - 6 pp

This has come up before, and we have not allowed it. If you want reduce the recovery action to less than the Full Action normally required with Healing, buy Regeneration instead.

3.

Speed 2 (Limit: Only after detecting an injury [-1]) - 1 pp

Just for clarity, I assume by "Injury" you mean the damage condition "Injured." If you mean something else, please clarify.

4.

Druidic Magic and Rites of Blood 10 (Wide [+1]) - 34 pp

We do not allow the Wide array extra from the Mastermind's Manual.

The mechanics here look like they've been cleaned up quite a bit, but there are still some things that need to be fixed.

1) I would leave off the benefits of your Boost from your main stats. It is hard enough to figure out where the points are coming from when you count a temporary AP as though it were there a majority of the time.

2) Your Attack and Defense both need to be lower, due to your ranks in Growth.

3) You don't have anything filled in for Toughness. I come up with +10 between the Constitution and the Device.

4) Related to that, the Will save should be 3 higher due to the Device.

5) The base cost for the Magic array seems like it should be 28, not 40. That means that you don't have enough pp in the array for the first AP (which costs 30) or the third one (which also costs 30). The second AP, the Boost, costs 24 pp, so it's ok. I'd look for some power feats to raise the cost of the base power to 30, which would make the entire array cost 33 pp.

If you take that last suggestion, you'd have one more pp left to spend. I'd take Immunity (aging), since it seems like your character is related to the ancient Atlanteans, who aren't exactly around any more.

Base:Rupture - Damage 7 (Perception range [+2], Sustained [+2], Independent [+0], Limited - Damages only if the afflicted character is moving [-1]) - 40 pp

Also, I have not, nor do I think I ever will, approve a Sustained damage effect, much less one that is Perception range and with the Independent extra in an array.

How did you get 24 pp on the boost? I count only 16

I'm still curious about the "Detect Injury" power -- is it just to detect the Injured condition (which can only be caused by lethal damage), or any type of damage (Bruised, Injured, etc.)?

A suggestion, for sake of easy record keeping, would be to mark down what his Bloodrage Boosted stats are:

* Str 26/+8, Damage +12 Strike, Con 30/+10, Toughness +12, Attack +11 melee, Defense +11 in round 1;

* Str 25/+7, Damage +11 Strike, Con 29/+9, Toughness +11, Attack +10 melee, Defense +10 in round 2;

* Str 24/+7, Damage +11 Strike, Con 28/+9, Toughness +11, Attack +10 melee, Defense +10 in round 3;

* and Str 23/+6, Damage +10 Strike, Con 27/+8, Toughness +10, Attack +9 melee, Defense +9 in round 4

I would also suggest that, rather than re-posting a new set of stat blocks, you go back and edit the initial post, so that when this character thread is fully approved and moved people will be able to easily find the actual approved character.

I was thinking along the lines of detecting the injured and disabled conditions.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll update the first post tomorrow (a couple of hours for you guys in the USA)

I had thought that it meant that Attack and Defense were being Boosted by 4, not 4 pp. I re-read the other sections and realized that you meant 4 pp. Since many of the things that get Boosted only cost 1 pp/rank, it doesn't usually make a difference.

Also, more importantly, approved.
