Southside

"Hmmm..new friend or foe?" Damien asked himself seeing the wreckage around him, he began flying towards the suburbs, "Time to play" he whispered, hovering over a good sized white townhouse. His eyes flashed with unholy energy as twin black beams of destruction lanced from his eyes into the rooftop below, proceeding to do the same to the next two homes

(Do I have to roll to hit the top of a house?)

As you walk down the streets of Southside towards the Boardwalk you find yourself so caught up in your own thoughts you don't even notice the first blast and boom in a nearby subdivision. The people running past you however break your attention away from yourself just in time to see the second and third ones explode outwards in pillars of smoke and flame. A quick glance upwards reveals the cause of the destruction, what looks like a normal human man with white hair floating above the homes black beams of energy bursting from his eyes and smashing into rooftops.

Sabrina

You and your friends made your way towards the Boardwalk talking about the sites and planning out your night when the first of a staccato of three booms rings in your ears. A quick look above the homes on fire shows you all you need to know, a man with white hair floating above the community firing off beams of energy seemingly at random into the tops of homes. Your friends are just as surprised as you are and more than a few gasps and panicked intakes of breath surround you at the scene.

Renichi

Heading back the way you came is easy, finding a suitable warehouse to begin your work however has been proving difficult. You think you're on the path to finding a good one though finally. You've found your way into a more industrial area with junkyards visible in the distance and a sign for the local landfill a few miles down the road...

Damien

Black bolt of hellish energy blast out of your eyes and through the roofs of three houses setting them ablaze and causing a good amount of panic in only a few seconds. As you sit back for a second to admire your handiwork you hear behind you the ever familiar 'whoop whoop' of a helicopter approaching from behind you.

no you don't need a to hit roll to hit a stationary object of that size...plus it makes for a good scene starter.

general announcement, until I'm told its a bad idea or that we aren't doing it if you're posting for your character at the top of your post put your characters name - time of day - and specific location (or as specific as you can get) in bold before every post please. For the time being I'm ruling all of this is happening at the same time but in general some of it might not so its better to be clear in the future.

The Emissary, above the rooftops of southside

Though compared to other heroes, the Emissary might not have had as much time for it as he liked, there were still ocassions where he could make use of his heightened and extended senses for patrols about the city, from its meanest, to proudest areas. He felt it important to offer that as a guest of Freedom City, he was doing his best to help foster a safe and flourishing environment. He felt it important to get in a regular view of the entire city in motion for refining his own ongoing impressions of the world outside Utopia Isle. And above all, he felt it important to fly. It was one of his favourite things, the wind, current and updraft, the sense of freewheeling ease as he would ocassionally flow into an acrobatic loop here and there. In his view, anyone that could fly, should fly. And just sometimes, he'd give the ocassional aerial roller coaster ride to a neighbourhood child.

But all such pleasantries faded from his mind with a slight frown as he heard the series of booming, crackling impacts, and streaked off towards their source.

Nanowire - Dusk - Nearing Southside Junkyard

A junkyard or landfill weren't excatly optimal, Renichi had to admit, but they were better than nothing. Maybe he could transport the raw material to another location later. He'd have to get at least a working semblence of cover, away from prying eyes. There was also the issue of defense...

It was about that time in his musings when he heard the explosions. Renichi's head jerked around as the booms echoed through the metalic wreckage near him. Although he wasn't too clear on the western custom of "Halloween", he was fairly sure that it didn't include large explosions. Those were only supposed to be during Indepence Day, right? Or maybe he was thinking of Thanksgiving. It was so hard to keep track of the anachronistic holy days Americans celebrated.

In any case, it didn't involve him. But should he involve himself? The last time he did that, nine people died and a good friend of his would never move about without a wheelchair again. All very good reasons to walk away right now. On the other hand, if he did nothing, and people got hurt anyway, his concience would never let him hear the end of it.

With a giant sigh, Renichi started back towards the scene of the chaos.

Damien flew towards the oncoming helicopter, eyes crackling with dark energy as he unleashed another beam of obsidian power against it, he wasnt sure how he would handle any heros that showed up, but he figured that if worst came to worst he could always use the threat of innocence being harmed against them.."innocence" was probably the funniest word in the world to him though, everybody's done somthing wrong, mistake or not, it did'nt matter, just look at what people do in the name of "god", the wars, persecution, and a great many other attrocities..he snapped back to reality as his thoughts wandered to how he would escape all of his mess without any consiquences..

"Son of a..." he trails off. It's plenty clear who the cause of all this ruckus is, and it's just as clear that Kevin can't do anything about it. Not for the first time, he wishes that his super powers came with something that could affect psychos like that. The flyers especially bug him. What's he going to do - throw a football at them?

But his head snaps back into the game. Sure, he might not be able to do anything about Gothy McFlyboy, but there's probably plenty of people in danger from falling rubble or something like that, and he might be able to heal them if they got hurt. Meanwhile, if that guy decides to fly low - well, not every super is immune to a good ol' fashioned sucker punch to the head.

Sabrina looked at the scene of destruction with a look of surprise and quickly starts pulling her friends back towards the direction they had been heading to get them going towards the, relatively, safe area of the Boardwalk. She also looks for any sign of people in the homes, ready to head forward to help if she has to.

It was not that the Emissary was especially prone to rage. He'd fought various costumed villains and felt nothing more than a sad sort of.. vexation, yes, that was the word, at their wasting potential and talent. But whether it was traces of his father's memories of the battlefields of Europe, or Utopia Isle's lessons on reason, nothing aggrieved so much as rampages. It was the unfortunate drawback of a seeking mind, constantly trying to understand. For there was no understanding of pointless carnage for the sake of carnage, no someday hope to puzzle out the motivations behind such things and counsel them away. It was every arguement the Utopians made about humanity's darker nature made manifest, and it was always painful to see.

And all of that was now personified in this strange man before him, setting southside ablaze with seeming glee. He sped up further, reaching out his arms, straining as force and speed left an almost gleaming wake in his flight path, given the light of the fires shining off his metallic body.

"Why!"

His tone was demanding, even as he moved to try and stop the man from further assaults, seeking to pull him into a crushing bear hug.

"Why!"

Somehow, he still sounded as if he entirely meant the question.

(OOC: got a 22 on my attack roll http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1353111 which should be enough to grab Vengeance. Need an opposed grapple check from Vengeance to determine if the grab takes and the damage ensues.)
