Description: When in his true form and free of any host, Baron Kriminel is tall, athletic, and mean. He typically wears only pants and shoes, the rest of his body left bare. His chest and arms are a mass of scars and shallow, bleeding cuts. His head is often shaved to draw attention to a nasty scar running down his right eye; his mouth is often turned up in a cruel grin, and his eyes are bloodshot and constantly dancing with a wild flame. When taking a host, he often "shifts" the body to fit the form. If his cheval is not of strong will, their eyes will grow bloodshot and stigmata in the form of shallow cuts will begin manifesting on their torso.

History: Despite Baron Samedi's best efforts, he is not the worst of the Ghede. Not by a long shot. He may bedevil the world and seek to become the death that most men fear, but when he does things, he does them for a great, overarching reason.

Not so for Baron Kriminel. He just wants to hurt the right kind of people.

Baron Kriminel's origins are occluded in mystery, even among some of the other Ghede. Some say he was a feared warrior in Nigeria who slaughtered both enemy and ally in the field of battle, finally put down by his men while he slept. Others say he was a rebellious slave who slaughtered his master's entire family before moving on to the rest of the town. The only feature all stories have in common was that he was a mass murderer who was finally executed for his crimes, and quickly found a place amongst the loa. If Papa Ghede is the watchful shepherd and Baron Cimitiere is the vigilant guardian, then Baron Kriminel is the executioner's axe.

Baron Kriminel is invoked as the aspect of vengeance, meant to chase down and bedevil those who have sinned against his cheval. He does not measure the sin objectively -- whether the target killed his host's firstborn son or cut him off in traffic doesn't matter. All that matters is that he has a quarry. When he does, his pursuit is unpredictable -- he may go directly for the target and end them brutally, or he may tear at the corners of their life until striking the final blow. He demands much from his hosts, inflicting stigmata on their bodies and sometimes harrowing their flesh if their offerings don't please him, but will execute his duties without complaint. That is, until November 2nd - Fete Ghede, the day of the dead in voudon - when the Baron comes to demand payment for debts long overdue...

While he often acts as an extension of mortal vengeance, Baron Kriminel also pursues his own vendettas. He has stormed the gates of Heaven, believing that the Abrahamic faiths stole the worshippers of the original West African pantheons that birthed voudon. He has been the reason why certain serial killers never got caught -- because he got to them first. And on occasion, he has come after his own brother, Baron Samedi, for daring to make a mess of mortal affairs.

Personality & Motivation: Baron Kriminel is mad, bad, and dangerous to know. He does not agree easily to anything, and even when he appears to agree easily, that's just so he can spend time sharpening the knife before he strikes. His motivation is plain and simple - vengeance, either against his host's targets or his own.

Powers & Tactics: Baron Kriminel is a guided missile, devoted to tracking down his targets and making them suffer. How they suffer often varies, though. Sometimes he goes directly for them and snuffs them out before they even know he's there. Sometimes he gives chase, watching as the target futilely tries to evade him. And sometimes he even harrows them at the edges, striking at friends and loved ones as the dread slowly builds. When in combat, he'll try to cripple or weaken targets first, using The Laming Strike or The Flensing Hands. Once that's done, he'll swiftly attempt to eliminate anyone who stands in the way of his real target.
