FIRE! (IC)

It was a little after two am, just late enough for even the drug dealers to be getting tired. That's what Sil thought at least, she had already finished her patrol of the Fens and was moving around the West End. It was usually pretty quiet since the Interceptors were doing patrols as well but she did find one or two things of interest that she could take care of by herself. One particular interesting thing was when she was moving in the shadows that she heard a scream from across the street as the windows were blown out by a gout of flame that than began to move it's way up and down from the building.

"What the hell?!"

Not far from there...

-Phew! Look at the hour, lady... time for me to hit the sack. Bye!

And parted ways, each one went his way towards his home. And parted ways, each one went his way toward his home. Only one of them did not reach its destination, seeing interrupted by a conflagration and a scream. Alone at that time, the boots echoed on the asphalt as he ran towards the place where the commotion come from. And when he did finally arrived it´s destination, he found he could not believe what he saw. What, in the name of the Lord, was that?

-¡La madre...! -he exclaimed- Mistress! Do you know what happened?

At the bottom of his heart he was praying that the answer wasn´t "there are people inside!"

Sil was halfway to running into the building when she more or less ran into a guy dressed like a well padded American flag. Her eyes and expression which clearly read 'I do not have time for this' were hidden under her expressionless mask,

"Not in the least, I know what's going to happen, evacuation, now if you aren't just dressed for a party than lets get going because times a' wasting."

Running up the front door of the complex she found that it was locked, but that was really not a problem in the least as she reached in twisted the deadbolt before swinging it open. Smoke poored out of the lower floor but she put an arm against the cloth over her mouth and started for the stairs.

If Manuel could have read her thoughts he would surely have said something how not everyone can afford a perfect equipment, or possibly that was what he had, or even if it really mattered. More likely, he wouldn´t have done any of these things and have continued to enter the building as he was about to do. About her, she was one of the heroes, that was more than clear. The feeling "I have everything under control" was strong, and suddenly he felt ridiculous with only a shield and training, like like a child trying to play with the adults.

But petty problems weren´t going to help anyone inside here. He entered behind her. The smoke received him with glee. Surely the firemen were on their way, but what mattered was that they were not yet there. And who knows what might happen in that time interval.

Sprinting up the stair well, Sil heard screaming from the second floor. She went to the nearest door and unlocked it from the inside before opening it up. Inside she saw a woman trying to move a larger man who had collapsed by dragging him. He wasn't morbidly obese, but he was pretty big, looking behind her she saw her companion,

"Hey flag boy, dude here seems a little out of my weight class, get him out while I search the rest of the floor."

That woman was big deal. His first reaction when he heard the suffocated cry was bashing down the door... that´s it, if origami girl weren´t specially talented with doors. Being honest, wasn´t like he could take that as an option really... people that can be as flat as the thinnest of papers?

"Flag Boy" didn´t talk (he wasn´t sure about how convenient was to speak in a space filled with toxic gas), but he raise a thumb in the universal "OK" sign and he take the big guy. Heavy weight fo sure, but not so much of a big deal, he knees flexed and held the guy in his arms. Her companion was evacuated from the building too in a moment, both of them in the street and now free of the smoke. He´s mr. Bricks, but I don´t know her, though for less than a second before entering in the building again, this time with extra clean air in his lungs.

Covering her mouth she let the guy through as he grabbed up Mr. Heavy and his companion and they left. Well he was decently strong, which was good, because she had a feeling there would be a lot of piggy backing in this particular happenstance. Using the time he was gone she searched through the floor, luckily it was mostly empty, but that was less than likely than the floors up top. This was particularly clear when another scream sent her running upstairs.

Decently strong not being a superpowered being, indeed. In most situations I have encountered, having a nice physical is quite good either for pure strength feats like fast climbing or taking down a door in a convenient time, or simply for the raw persuasiveness of a few pounds of body built. Piggybacking was probably not an absurd supposition: he was out of his ambient, and it was quite a change playing in the leagues the capes played. One thing was sure, he can move pretty fast even with a heavy load in his hands, so he was in the scene again in a sec. The sound of running upstairs made himself start running there.

What had happened?

The third floor was where the real danger was happening, it was very much ablaze, and she could hear screaming down the hallway. Running towards the screaming she grabbed the door handle but let go just as quickly when she felt how hot the metal, if she wasn't wearing gloves she would of gotten a nasty burn. So instead she opted to slip through the gaps. If the handle was hot the room was ten times that with her literately stepping into fire. Jumping up she patted down her foot to put out the flame and found a nice relatively cool spot as she started through the appartment. It took only a few seconds before she went to the furthest room to find two kids huddled with there mom leaning out an open window for air.

Fire, fire everywhere; fire in the stairs, fire in the rooms and especially fire in the top floor. It took just a moment to call emergency before entering again in the conflagration. As he climbed, Vanguard began to sweat and notice the indirect fire burn... but when he heard the screams those things stopped having the least importance. The only thing that stood between him and the screams was a door, door that thanks to his shoulder did not take long to open; he didn´t stop running, running all he could give. None of the obstacles was a problem as he started to dodge, duck or jump whenever needed.

-There are anyone here!? -he shouted meanwhile- We´ve came to help!

Please, someone screaming. Even only a person. Please, please, please... ¡OVER HERE!
