"You... you..." For a second, it looked like Wilkins had been pushed to some breaking point, where some sort of cathartic tide might flow in. But in the end, all he did was snap. "How dare you use her against me!" He brought his foot down on the floor, driving a splintered crater into the floor outside of the office. "Where were you? Where were any of you when she fell? You didn't care that she let herself get to that point. You didn't care that any of these children have turned on themselves!"

The guard, still bound in Ironclad's polymer, kept trying to beat against his prison - and kept failing. But as he saw Wilkins' fury, underneath all the programming telling him to get out and save his boss, some deep-down part of him realized it'd probably be best to stay put.
