Jubatus is generally a loner... but he is a highly exotic-looking (hence, easily recognizable) superhero, and he has been the subject of a certain amount of media coverage, so it wouldn't be at all surprising if some of the civilians in the crowd recognize him and start doing the "starstruck fan" routine, or something in that neighborhood...

No worries, Arichamus! In Jube's case, at least, his 'loner vibes' might well make at least one or two would-be fans hesitate to approach him. But he's not really doing anything hostile, so the deterrence factor could decay over time, yes?

The days of the week are difficult to keep track of in fiction. The reasons why Tolkien's writing was so genius include the fact that he actually cared about the passage of time in his stories.

Cubist: Good point, again, after several minutes of close(in relative terms) proximity they would definitely relax about the anthropomorphic cheetah, maybe ask in a clumsily casual fashion if they could get a paw-print, or something?

Azuth65: Wait a moment, are we assuming that Marceau knows Wisp and Victoria are the same person?

And after a crazy weekend, I should finally be able to throw down a post here. Falconer will be in his Civvies here. He's just a guy riding a bus.

I'm in the middle of writing an edit to his 'origin' which includes the conversion to a secret identity, and a costume. So Sam and Falconer are different "people" as far as identities are concerned, but Sam really has yet to do much AS Falconer, so at the moment Sam is the famous one. So for now, assume Secret ID for this thread.

A small note... The symbol on Sam Wolf's shirt is the same symbol worn by Falconer. He took the symbol for his costume from the shirt which is one of those shirts he's had forever, but no one seems to sell new versions of. Since he started being a hero and going around town as Falconer, stores like Hot Topic and Spencers have started selling similar shirts. He still wears the old shirt in his civilian identity for the irony.

Glad you could make it! :)

Alright, game plan is as follows: I'd say two-three pages at the bus stop should be plenty, another two pages of thoughts/hijinks/conversation on the bus proper, and then...we'll see.

Please do not hesitate to post suggestions or point out mistakes I've made!

A couple of notes on Jube's most-recent post in the thread...

The geek's opening spiel sounds kind of bizarre to be coming from someone who's supposed to be a scientific whiz kid. Thus, Jay's presumption that the poor guy is freaking out and trying not to show it.

Also: The "Babson-Forward mass detector" is named after Roger Babson and Robert L. Forward. In the RealWorld, Babson (1875-1967) was the guy who started the Gravity Research Foundation; Forward (1932-2002) was a physicist who wrote science-fiction novels about those of his way-out ideas he couldn't figure out how to test in a laboratory, and who actually did invent a mass detector. On Earth-Prime, I think it makes sense that the analogues of these men would have worked together, coming up with interesting things including refinements to Forward's mass detector.

"You're so young!": Jay Xavier was born in 1946. In other words, the dude is older than dirt, at least by comparison with many other PCs. His 'odometer' got 'rolled back' as part of his transformation into a cheetah/human critter, but he still has 70-odd years of life experience and yada yada yada...

The driver's hairstyle is rather distinctive. Would Jay (or anybody else, for that matter) recognize him? Just for grins, Jay will use his Quickness for a Take 20 'roll' against an appropriate Knowledge skill (and Jay's are Current Events (+8), Technology (+9), and Theology & Philosophy (+9)).

Alrighty, then. Keep in mind this is just for flavor and not connected to the plot of this thread: Norman MacArthur is the fourth son of an organized crime boss in Connecticut, who had enjoyed a brief surge of success during the mid-to-late-1980's due to his adoption of a practice he called "Substitute Government". At its most basic level, the idea was that the more the mob acted to serve the legal and illegal needs of citizenry, they would enjoy heightened profits and customer loyalty, and due to this loyalty, their customers would be less likely to rat them out to the police. This ended badly after the F.O.R.C.E. Ops super-team(following a lead on a completely different crime family) attacked their operations in 1991(When Norman was 17), killing most of the mob members proper as well as dozens of their associates in crime. Only a few of the family survived the attack, including Norman, who swore off crime for the rest of his life and worked at odd jobs on a long sojourn south-east, where he ended up in Freedom in 1994. He stayed mostly to himself, not daring to step into the fore-front of anything until the car repair shop he worked at came under attack from a group of wanna-be super-villains wielding lightening guns and calling themselves 'The Electric Mayhem'. Although badly outnumbered and unarmed, Norman managed to defeat them without permanent injury, a feat that made him a local hero in the West End, and brought them in alive for the bounty placed on them, with which he bought himself an education. For a few years ran a taxi-cab company, eluding the efforts of the local mobs to cough up protection money all the while. In 2003, he sold the business to another entrepreneur and became a city bus driver, which he remains to this day.

Note on Jube's most-recent post: Yes, Jube's character sheet has "immunity to aging" on it. Alas for teh kitteh's peace of mind, he doesn't know that yet. He'll find out soon enough, because he should be displaying signs of senescence within the next however-many months, and when said signs obstinately refuse to show up...
