Tanks for Nuthin' [IC]

The car would be lucky to get any further, however. Adjusting his course so that he would be able to get a clear shot at the car without blowing away any of the others near it, Victory made his move.

The car stops very suddenly, as its entire momentum was stopped in a flash. Behind the car, Victory stood, feet firmly planted, actually seeming to have dug a bit into the ground. The vehicle had been lifted a bit up from the ground, as well, so it wouldn't be able to get any momentum.

With a firm grip on the car, Victory speaks into his comm.

"I got 'em stopped. We're a quarter mile from the hotel."

Switching from the comm to normal speech, he shouts loud enough to be heard inside the car.

"Last chance, brat! Surrender, and you might still be tried as a minor. Maybe."

The car came to a sudden stop, and the young genius locked eyes with Victory. "Angelique?" he said, trying to hide the panic in his voice. With an athletic gesture, the blonde woman raised one arm -- which unfolded into a cannon, thrumming with electrical energy.

"Angelique's my 'special' chauffeur," he said. "You never know what you'll run into on the road..."

Ironclad landed next to the stalled cab, her suit quickly shifting to prepare for melee combat. "Bad, bad boy Otaku," the power suited heroine admonished. One blow from her gauntleted fist easily took out the vehicle's window, shattering the twisted inventor with shards of safety glass. "Bad boys don't get to play with their toys." She reached in and took his arm in a servo assisted grip, pulling the limb out straight. "They get sent to bed without any dessert, too." She suddenly twisted his arm, combining her knowledge of physics and anatomy to bring it almost to the snapping point. "Now stand-down the slut-bot and you won't have to spend time in Blackstone's infirmary."

There was an electrical surge in a nearby Internet Cafe. The lights all flickered simultaneously, electricity arced from one of the routers to the floor. Through the current, Blueshift materialized in the center off the room. "Love Fiber networks! Great up/down speeds!" She saluted the frazzled workers behind the counter as she zoomed out the front door propelled by the rockets on her boots.

She arrived on the scene with the taxi just in time to see Ironclad pull Doc Otaku struggling from the window.

"You heard her. Bad boy. No toys." She placed her hands on her hips as she came to a stop near the pair, "Especially bad boys get punished. Get their toys," She reached forward, and started releasing the catches that held the shiny piece of tech to his arm, "taken away!" and stripped it from him in one smooth motion.

Not bothering to back away from the melee, Blueshift was already engrossed with the device she held. She turned it over once or twice, "Nice design. Offense, defense, all-in-one. Compact too. Not the same as your Giant robot though. When'll you learn, Otaku?" She held the device in her left hand, and raised her right arm. A small slender instrument extended from her gauntlet. She jabbed it into the device, and popped open a small panel on the side, "Size does matter!" Her nimble fingers wrenched a pair of wires clean out of the device. It quickly began powering down accompanied by a low, fading hum. Blueshift smiled triumphantly. "Blueshift 2. Otaku 0."

In the moments it took for Ironclad to pull Otaku out of the car, a sickening sound of twisting metal, with pops and small explosions could be heard behind him. Or at least, he would've heard it if he wasn't busy getting put in a hammerlock. While he tries to resist, his thrashing may allow him to catch a glimpse of Victory standing in front of the car, a balled up hunt of metal in his hands, and his "toy" nowhere to be seen. Victory lightly tosses it up in his hand a couple times, then he stops, speaking into his comm.

"You guys at those coordinates exactly? .... Okay, good. Here it coooomes...."

He drops the "ball", and its met with a massive punt, knocking the robot's remains clear into the horizon. Victory waits a moment, then hears a bit of cheering, and grins, throwing up the "touchdown" sign. One last rub in Otaku's face, to be sure.

"And make sure those recovery vehicles are on the way to my location. The brat's not going anywhere."

Fenris suddenly appeared on the roof of the car...right as Victory was making his winning field goal kick. He looked around for a moment, then hopped down off the car to stand near Victory.

"Looks like you have everything, ah, well in hand here."

He glanced over at where Ironclad had a tight grasp of the bad doctor.

"You can probably ease up just a tiny bit. We don't want him hurt too much. I think."

In truth, he thought the little man an odious member of humanity, but still thought they should avoid anything that might be truly excessive force, at least since he was basically unarmed. He settled for crossing his arms and keeping an eye on the overall situation.

"Nooooo!" Doc Otaku kicked at his restraints. "You bastard! What did you do to Angelique? She was beautiful! She was deadly! She was... well, she had a rudimentary threat detection system, at least, but she could have had more! When I get out, I'm going to take a can opener and a welding torch to every one of you! I'll make it so your targeting computers run Viagra spam 24/7! I'll stuff EMP generators up your -- "

His tirade was cut off as Cannonade landed with the force of a mortar on the street, cracking the asphalt beneath him. He looked up... to see the thoroughly totaled car, Doc Otaku in the arms of Ironclad, and Blueshift holding a mutilated piece of equipment.

"I've really gotta find a faster way to travel..." he muttered to himself. He then looked to the others. "Guess we're dropping the kid with the most toys off at Blackstone?"

Noting that everything was under control, Blueshift turned her full attention on the device in her hand. After a few seconds of tinkering, she cursed, "Damnit. Completely wrecked. Can't get data now." She tossed the scrapped piece of Otaku's technology onto the trunk of the totaled vehicle. "Not that I'd want it." She grimaced, and wiped her hands of on her suit.

Blueshift's expression further soured, "Stop it. Stop talking. Now." She shook a finger in his face. "I'd read your rights. No use. You know them. Every threat. Another assault charge." She folded her arms, "You make me sick. Exploiting technology. Making people suffer. Got it wrong. Should be using it to help people. Try it sometime. Might find you like it. Won't need to make girlfriends that way."

Really is too bad he's a creep.

Among Otaku's ranting and raving, and after Blueshift gives him a scolding, Victory moves in a flash next to the restrained villain. "Nap time." He lightly (or what seems to be light, at least) flicks the back of Otaku's head, enough force to knock a normal human out without causing any serious damage. It's a trick he's gotten good at balancing by now, since so many of his perps are normal people in suits.

He dusts his hands and nods, seemingly satisfied. "I think we all took care of this well enough. And I think we've gotten some good data from this whole business."

He listens for a bit, expecting to hear the armored vehicles to come by any time now. "Well, a crew will be here to ship him off. Once they get here, what say we get back to the testing grounds and see how you all did?"

Blueshift still wasn't quite done feeling violated after being inside Dr. Otaku's computer systems. Added to the fact that she was still fuming over his incorrigible nature, Victory's words hit her harder than he'd hit Angelique. What? No. They couldn't...Damnit!

"Okay, Big V. Hold it right there." She wasn't even looking at him. She couldn't bear it.

Too many people. Too close. Oh god. C'mon, Blue! Should have seen this coming!

She took a step away from Victory. Away from the car, and Ironclad as well. "Just hold it." She held up a finger in Victory's direction as she backed away, "That sounded bad. Invasion of privacy bad. Like you were testing us without our consent bad. So? Little more explanation? Would be nice?"

Now that Otaku was reduced to harsh language and impotent threats, Ironclad released his arm and backed away a few paces, out of arm's reach of the mad genius. Her faceplate remained oriented on him, but under her helmet she tracked the flight of the metal ball that Victory had reduced Otaku's driver/bodyguard/girlfriend (ew) to. Once it was out of even her magnified view, she turned to attention back to the trunk of the car, where Blueshift had tossed Otaku's wrist-suit. A large part of her wanted to chase after that metal ball, to tear open the trunk and go to work on that strange villain-tech right away. Nevertheless, she kept her place and said to Victory, "As always, if AEGIS needs help analyzing the technology, the Lab is happy to help."

Suddenly, Fenris's growling voice spoke up from the side.

"Blueshift. Ease up. Victory didn't mean it like that. Putting aside the fact that almost all the gear there was fried, I think he more means he wants to make sure everyone's okay, and not upset about what we did. Besides, you volunteered to show up for those tests. Even if they were focused on the bots, you had to know some information would be gathered, inadvertently or not."

He crossed his arms and gave her a light glare.

"And it'd be mighty hypocritical of you to object to people taking knowledge from an open test you voluntarily showed up for, when you're constantly pestering me for information I've made clear is private. So chill off."

He turned to face Victory and Ironclad.

"I can leave information to contact me, if you're interested in a third party's assistance."

Blueshift's accusing tone caught Victory a bit off-guard. Turning to her, he raises an eyebrow in slight confusion. Not sure why she was going on like this, he thinks about the way he worded that, and figures where the slight miscommunication came from.

"No, no, no, you misinterpereted me. I mean how you did with the test proper. The drone tanks. Believe me, this whole Otaku thing was most certainly not part of today's agenda. If it were, I wouldn't have joined in to help, since it would've negated the whole point of such a trial."

Thinking she'd hopefully get the message, he turned to Ironclad and Fenris, nodding to them both, but addressing Ironclad first. "When R&D is finished getting what we can out of that...toy...we'll send the data on over to the Lab. We won't be able to send you the actual parts, but we'll show you what we may have found out." His glance moves to Fenris. "I'd appreciate it. I don't have your information on file. Although that does make me curious about how the testers got you here in the first place..."
