Player Awards Change! [All Should Read]

Recommended Posts

The Character Awards have been slightly expanded and renamed; the new names will be edited in when we add in the monthly pp awards. The pertinent section of the Newbie Guide will be edited to reflect these, but here are the changes, [bg=#FFFF00]highlighted[/bg].

Character Advancement & Awards

In-Character Posting Awards: 1-5 PPs per month

Characters will receive between 1 and 5 PPs monthly based on their level of participation in the forum. Any character who "plays" during the month will receive 1 PP. Characters who are actively involved in threads, campaigns, and stories (more than 15 IC posts with that character per month) will receive 2 PPs; characters who are extremely involved in threads, campaigns, and stories (more than 25 IC posts with that character per month) will receive 3 PPs; characters who are ridiculously involved in threads, campaigns and stories (more than 50 IC posts with that character per month) will receive 4 PPs as a participation award; characters who are monstrously active (100+ posts) earn 5pp.

1-14 IC posts = 1pp

15-24 IC posts = 2pp

25-49 IC posts = 3pp

50-99 IC posts = 4pp

100+ IC posts = 5pp

Note: Spamming the IC threads, making little short posts, and carrying on conversations one line at a time in order to boost your post count will not earn you PPs; it will just make others not want to play with you anymore.

Caveat #1: Posts written entirely for Sidekicks/Minions, in which the main player character does not appear, count for 1/2 credit when tallying post counts at the end of the month. These will be added to a character of your choice.

Caveat #2: Posts written primarily as a GM (when running an adventure for others) count as 1/2 credit, to be added to a character of your choice. This includes writing posts for an NPC.

Other Contribution Awards

Refs (and Admins) who feel that a player is making a significant contribution to the site may give that player a bonus PP to apply to either of his or her characters. Additionally, characters who complete especially important, long-term story goals may also receive a contribution award.

The Interview (aka 20 Questions) counts as a Contribution Award, as it helps flesh out your character, which gives the Refs a better idea on how to challenge and reward them. Filling out the Interview earns you 1 point.

Those feeling more adventurous and tackle The Questionnaire (aka the HellQ); filling out the Questionnaire earns you 2 points.

Making an entry for the Reputation thread will also earn you 1 point.

Creating and submitting NPCs can earn points. The first two NPCs you submit earn you 1 point each.

Every few months the Refs offers a chance to do a Vignette. Doing one of these earns you 1 point.

[bg=#FFFF00]Note that the 20 Questions/Interview, Hell Q, Reputation post, and Vignettes do not themselves count as posts.[/bg]

Contributing to the FC PbP Wiki can earn points. Creating a page for your character -- which must be more than simply copying & pasting the fluff parts of your character sheet -- will earn you 1 point. Making other significant contributions can also earn a point.

Refs (that is, Staff Members, Global Mods, and Admins) earn 1 extra pp every odd-numbered month (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, and Nov).

Power Level Caps

All characters will start at PL 7 or PL 10. After gaining 10pp, their PL advances by 1. From then on, characters' PLs will advance with every 15pp, until hitting PL 15 (at 220pp). PL advancement stops at that point, but you continue earning power points, until you hit PL 15/250pp [bg=#FFFF00](but see below)[/bg].

The advancement is summarized in the following charts:

A PL 10 character's advancement would look like this:

PPs earned Total PPs PL
1-9 151-159 10
10-24 160-174 11
25-39 175-189 12
40-54 190-204 13
55-69 205-219 14
70-100 220-250 15
And a PL 7 character's advancement would look like this:
PPs earned Total PPs PL
1-9 106-114 7
10-24 115-129 8
25-39 130-144 9
40-54 145-159 10
55-69 160-174 11
70-84 175-189 12
85-99 190-204 13
100-114 205-219 14
115-145 220-250 15

Once your character reaches 250pp [bg=#FFFF00](and is "maxed out")[/bg], you do not have to retire them. Any posts you make with them will be added to the posts totals for another one of your PCs. [bg=#FFFF00]In addition, the points you earn based on a maxed out character's posts will be tracked for that character for the purposes of Veteran Awards (see below). Point totals will be noted as "[points spent] / [points earned {up to 250}] [[total points earned]]".

Ex.: Doktor Archeville is a maxed out character, with 250 pps both earned and spent, but his player keeps using him, and earns another 10 points. His pp total would be listed as 250/250 [260]. If he earns 10 more points, he'll be at 250/250 [270], and will have earned 120 pps total (270 - 150 for a starting character).[/bg]

Player Awards

In an effort to reward players that have demonstrated longevity and commitment by actively role-playing the same character over a lengthy span of months, we will be awarding players who have earned [bg=#FFFF00]a certain amount of power points -- 30, 60, 90, and so on -- a Veteran Award.[/bg]

[bg=#FFFF00]30PP: "Bronze"

60PP: "Silver"

90PP: "Gold"

120PP: "Platinum"

150PP: "Impervium"

180PP: "Orichalcum"[/bg]

[bg=#FFFF00]Bronze[/bg] players [bg=#FFFF00](those who have earned 30+pp with a single character)[/bg] will be allowed to pick from one of the following rewards:

Option 1) A second character starting at PL10/150pp, or promote your existing PL7/105pp to PL10/150pp (with rollover bonus points)

Option 2) A third character, starting at PL 7/105pp or PL 8/120pp.

Option 3) 15pp for one or more of your characters to spend as you see fit on Equipment, Minion, and/or Sidekick (ex.: Equipment 15 for one, or Equipment 9 & Minion 6 for one, or Equipment 9 for one and Minion 6 for another).

[bg=#FFFF00]Silver[/bg] players [bg=#FFFF00](those who have earned 60+pp with a single character)[/bg] will be allowed to pick from one of the following rewards:

Option 1) A second character starting at PL12/180pp (instead of 7/105 or 10/150), or promote an existing character to PL12/180pp (with rollover bonus points)

Option 2) A third character (or a fourth if you took a third char as your Bronze reward), starting at PL 7/105pp, PL 8/120pp, or PL 10/150pp.

[bg=#FFFF00]Option 3) 15pp for Equipment, Minion, and/or Sidekick, as described above.[/bg]

[bg=#FFFF00]Gold[/bg] players [bg=#FFFF00](those who have earned 90+pp with a single character)[/bg] will be allowed to pick from one of the following rewards:

Option 1) A second character starting at PL12/180pp (instead of 7/105 or 10/150), or promote an existing character to PL12/180pp (with rollover bonus points)

Option 2) A third character (or a fourth char, if you took a third character at Bronze or Silver, or a fifth char if you took on a 3rd at Bronze and a 4th at Silver), starting at PL 7/105pp, PL 8/120pp, PL 10/150pp, or PL 12/180pp.

[bg=#FFFF00]Option 3) 15pp for Equipment, Minion, and/or Sidekick, as described above.[/bg]

[bg=#FFFF00]Platinum players (those who have earned 120+pp with a single character) will be allowed to pick from one of the following rewards:

Option 1) A second character starting at PL12/180pp (instead of 7/105 or 10/150), or promote an existing character to PL12/180pp (with rollover bonus points)

Option 2) Another characters slot, starting at PL 7/105pp, PL 8/120pp, PL 10/150pp, or PL 12/180pp.

Option 3) 15pp for Equipment, Minion, and/or Sidekick, as described above.

Impervium players (those who have earned 150+pp with a single character) will be allowed to pick from one of the following rewards:

Option 1) A second character starting at PL12/180pp (instead of 7/105 or 10/150), or promote an existing character to PL12/180pp (with rollover bonus points)

Option 2) Another characters slot, starting at PL 7/105pp, PL 8/120pp, PL 10/150pp, or PL 12/180pp.

Option 3) 15pp for Equipment, Minion, and/or Sidekick, as described above.

Orichalcum players (those who have earned 180+pp with a single character) will be allowed to pick from one of the following rewards:

Option 1) A second character starting at PL12/180pp (instead of 7/105 or 10/150), or promote an existing character to PL12/180pp (with rollover bonus points)

Option 2) Another characters slot, starting at PL 7/105pp, PL 8/120pp, PL 10/150pp, or PL 12/180pp.

Option 3) 15pp for Equipment, Minion, and/or Sidekick, as described above.[/bg]

Rollover Points: if you decide to advance an existing character to a new level (ex: advancing your PL 7/105pp character to PL 10/150pp as your Bronze reward), you get a number of additional points equal to 1/3rd the amount you had already earned with that character.

This is to reward players who've played their PL 7 characters for a while, rather than waiting to submit them as a new PL 10 one.

Example: I start playing Doktor Archeville as my PL 10/150pp character, and Dead Head as my PL 7/105pp character. I got in more posts for Doc than I did with Dead Head, so by the time I hit [bg=#FFFF00]Bronze[/bg](earned 30pp) with Dok, I had only earned 24pp with Dead Head. For my Gold reward, I choose to advance Dead Head to PL 10/150pp. I also get to add (24/3) 8pp as rollover points, so he'll be PL 10/158pp.
