Three Dog Night

Lone Star

Recommended Posts

As eleven o'clock hit, Gregory was done for the night. It had been one hell of a day. One o'clock to eight, his work schedule said. Right as he was about to clock off, however, a woman brought in her dog, which had swallowed some loose change and needed immediate surgery. Gregory did it without hesitation, although he was already tired. The dog ended up doing just fine, and the change was extracted from his stomach. The stitches would irritate the dog for a while, but it was better than nothing. He was glad to help him out. But as he clocked off, he yawned until his jaw popped. He would have some well-earned rest tonight.

Gregory didn't take his motorcycle out anymore. He only used it when he was on patrol, so he walked home. He whistled a tune to himself as he walked, his Freedom City Heroes shirt blowing in the breeze. It had been a couple of days since he had last donned the guise of Mad Dog. He was still thinking about the mysterious Avenger and their encounter with the robot. If he was going to be facing threats like these, he needed someone along with him. Not a sidekick- the last thing he needed was some kid tagging along and getting himself killed. He needed someone like Avenger.

He closed his eyes as the breeze caressed his face. He loved the night, and all of the stars. It was a full moon that night. He thought it could be an omen, but he hoped not. He felt as though someone, something evil was lurking tonight. But he decided to ignore the feeling. He was a happy man. He was doing the job he always wanted to, and had a fairly nice apartment. All he needed now was a sexy girlfriend, and he'd be pretty well set. But he was very at ease with the universe. A few cars were passing by, and he decided to stop at the local 24-hour burger joint for a nice heart-clogging cheeseburger.

Mad Dog was in the restaurant, eating his double cheeseburger. It was a rare treat for him. He usually ate very well, lots of lean meat and fruit. However, a nice greasy cheeseburger was a pleasant change. As he ate, he looked outside and saw the quiet city streets. A few cars passed by. As he took another bite, he saw something not terribly uncommon. A trio of Southside C's were swaggering through the streets. Can't take 'em in unless I catch 'em doing something wrong. Gregory thought as he watched them. Suddenly, they pointed at a young man down the street and took off. That was his cue.

Gregory wolfed his cheeseburger, paid his tab, and dashed out of the restaurant. He reached into his bag, and quickly changed into his costume. His fearsome dog mask affixed, he chased after the gang members. They ducked into an alley after the man, and Mad Dog followed in hot pursuit. This should be a good way to get rid of all the stress.

The gang members looked behind them, and Gregory couldn't help but smirk beneath his mask. The gang members abandoned chasing the man, and ducked down an alleyway. Looks like I've got these punks cornered. As Mad Dog rounded the corner, the gangsters were climbing over a chain length fence. Mad Dog surged forward and hurdled over the fence, landing right in front of them. "You punk-ass Southside C's aren't going anywhere. At least, with all of your teeth intact."

A few of them pulled guns on him, and started firing. Luckily, Gregory knew that most gang members couldn't aim worth crap, and half of them had their guns sideways. Mad Dog easily dodged the bullets and attached a shock collar on the first one's wrist. He tensed up, and started shaking, and fell to the ground. As he looked up, he could see the fear on the faces of the other gangsters. Sweat ran down the sides of their necks, but one of them broke out of his shock long enough to fire. Mad Dog ducked the shot narrowly, and stepped up casually to him. The gang member tried to throw a punch, but Mad Dog simply slammed him to the ground. Easy pickin's.
