Emissary is contacted, either by communicator or by cell phone, depending on what he is doing currently. Lady Liberty is on the other end.

"Emissary - I'm sorry to call you, but the League was called to save a village from an exploding volcano, and we just got a call from Commissioner Kane that White Knight was spotted near the Naval Base. He may be going to Blackstone to try to stage a prison break. Are you somewhere that you can reach him swiftly?" she asks.

Emissary's keen senses quickly determine that Lady Liberty was not ill-informed with her tip. Far off in the distance, he can make out a pillar of fire, shooting up haphazardly into the sky. A couple of seconds later, another pillar shoots up from a different location. It looks like there are at least two superhumans down there, or that White Knight has learned some new tricks. Judging from the way that the two fires seem to be fighting one another, however, the first possibility seems more likely than the second one.

One of the columns of fire seems to push back the other one, and the person wielding it flies backwards into a wall. Emissary can see that the person who is still standing appears to be a young woman, Mediterranean in complexion and almost a foot shorter than the White Knight. The White Knight picks himself up, then charges at the woman, wrapping his arms around her and bursting into a bluish-white flame. She cries out in pain as he crushes her, then smiles and says, "Gotcha."

She bursts into the exact same shade of flame, and begins to try to force back his arms. She's still struggling, but she appears to have grown a great deal stronger, and White Knight now has to make an effort to hold her.

He had no idea who the young lady was, but he was all too familliar with the White Knight. A man who in some walking tragedy represented the embodied opposite of Emissary's message of hope and understanding, who was every arguement on Utopia Isle made against humanity's inability to resist their viler impulses given shape. He banked upwards, turning his body end over end, forming a wide loop to add momentum to his now outstretching fists, hurtling downward as a silvered comet and impacting into the villain with a thundering crash.

"White Knight! You gratify me once more! Too often am I told that battering down the barriers of intolerance is only a metaphor, and yet here you are!"

He hoped he could sort out the matter of the young woman afterwards.

White Knight takes the blow with an audible "ooph" and looks over his shoulder to spot the do-gooder. He maintains his hold on the woman, and turns their bodies so that she is facing Emissary, using her as a human shield. He squeezes her, and manages to keep holding on in the face of her resistance. He shouts, "Figures a cowardly alien would try to hit a good, honest American in the back."

Unfortunately for the White Knight, the woman's flame seems to damage him more than his damages her, and he looks like he can't take much more. He releases his grip on her and just stands there, stunned and staggered by the heat she's outputting.

Whatever righteous fury had been building up in Emissary trails off into a confused blink, even as he lands and bends back, arms reaching behind him to dig into the pavement and wrench a chunk of it free with a loud tear, then straightening upwards, while continuing the arc of his arms past his body to bring the cement crashing down hard on White Knight's head.

"I do not understand, where else was there to hit you? You were using the young woman as a human shield. The endless contradictions of the things you say are always baffling! You can speak in coherent sentences! Surely on some level you can realize when you make no sense!"

White Knight staggers back from the mighty blow. He's reeling now, and the girl takes a step back.

"What sort of a pyromaniac isn't immune to flames?" she asks. "Oh, that's right - you." White Knight's aura of flames seems to grow hotter, and even Emissary can feel the heat from it. White Knight's eyes roll to the back of his head, and he barely whimpers... "She started it" before passing out.

The girl dusts off her hands and offers one of them to Emissary.

"I am pleased to meet you. I'm afraid I don't know you. I am Erin," she says. Now that the fight is over, Emissary has a little time to look her over. The first thing he notices is that she's nearly naked. Apparently, her clothes were not nearly as flame retardant as she appears to be. All she has left are the remnants of a t-shirt (in the middle of winter?) and a pair of jeans. She has a couple of light burns, but nothing more serious than a sunburn. Her dark brown hair falls just over her shoulders, and she looks much too slight to have been able to force back White Knight's attacks.
