Aborption as an Alternative to Regeneration?

I was in the process of making a PL10 character (he's already done, minus the backstory) and I realize that relying just on regeneration for healing seemed a bit boring IMO, so what I was thinking is removing some of the regeneration abilities and giving him absorption, here's what I have for Regen...

Regeneration 14 (Feats: Persistent, Regrowth; Drawbacks: Power Loss (acid); Recovery Bonus +4, Bruised 3, Injured 3, Staggered 2, Resurrection 2) [15pp]

And here's what I plan to give him...

Absorption 7 (Absorbs: Physical, Effect: Healing, Flaw: Personal) [22pp]

AP: Absorption 7 (Absorbs: Energy, Effect: Healing, Flaw: Personal)

I know that the absorption costs much more than the regeneration. I'm designing my character to be a tank.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Well, there are downsides to it. Cost, as you mentioned. Also, Regeneration works all the time, whereas Absorption Healing requires you to be exposed to some damaging effect; if he's shot and left to die, Regen would help, but Absorption wouldn't.

Flaw isn't a valid Flaw in this case, since Absorption Healing is already Personal.

Also, APing Physical and Energy Absorption isn't a cheap way around buying the "Both Types" extra: if you're unable to take an action to switch the Array, it will be stuck at its prior setting. So if he's got it set to Absorb Physical, he's hit with an energy bolt and knocked unconscious & into a fire, he can't switch to Absorb Energy (b/c he's unconscious and not able to act) and the Absorb Physical will do him no good.

Hmm... Sounds like an ineffective strategy then. If I may ask, can you think of a better alternative? It's not that I have a problem with Regeneration (unless they can recover from staggered without action), It's just that I'd like to try having a different kind of tank rather than just the impervious and regeneration.

Tank is someone who absorbs blows and keeps the mobs off the others wile the healer heals and the DPS damages.

Ah, well, there's your problem, then: this isn't an MMO, and you shouldn't be making chars as if it was one. ;)

Well, perhaps "tank" wasn't the correct word to use to describe him. I can send you the Character Sheet if you wish, that might help things a bit.
