Uninvited Guests (IC)

The Waterfront is home to many warehouses. Some are quite fruitful, others are not so much in use anymore. It was on this night that one unfruitful warehouse will bare fruit again. Wesley is flying through, trying to take a shortcut, but still keeping his eye out for trouble. It is in this graveyard of warehouses that he sees one with lights beaming from it. Odd. swooping down he lands in front of the entrance. This place is a lot smaller than the other buildings around here, thus it's easier to see with lights on. Wesley looks around. No vehicles. Very strange indeed. Apprehensive, he enters cloaked.

Deciding to finally give herself a challenge, Sarah decided just mugger hunting tonight wouldn't suffice, and so wandered farther afield once night fell. During her meandering, something finally caught her eye. Dim light coming out of a warehouse with no workers moving around? Moving closer, she peeked in through a window. Seeing a group of people inside, she decided to investigate. Spying what looks like some offices overlooking the main floor, Sarah quickly teleported inside of one of them.

Appearing in what looks like a breakroom, Sarah moved over to door. Cracking it open slightly, she tried to figure out what was going on. As she moved to see what was happening the sensation she'd come to associate with active magic washed over her Sarah concentrated on what was happening, trying to figure out what was going on.

And people she does see! Thirteen people in crimson robes surround a large demonic looking circle. Sarah sees it pulsing with necromantic energy. In the middle of the circle is a woman clad only in a black cloak. She lies on an altar, bound and gagged. A one of the robed figures standing the middle holding a sword above the woman's chest. Before Wesley or Sarah can do anything, the sword is plunged into the woman's chest. All is quiet for a moment. You could hear a pin drop. Then the once dead woman snaps her bonds like twig and rises. Pulling the bloody sword out of her chest she rises, not from a sitting position into a floating position. The thirteen robed figures kneel before her.

Growling slightly at being too late to stop the sacrifice, Sarah stepped out onto the catwalk.

"Well, this doesn't look like particularly upstanding behavior" she called out, sword resting on her shoulder. "I think we all need to have a friendly chat. With tea and maybe cookies."

Wesley, still invisible to the human eye, looks up at the catwalk. There someone else here. Someone else with a sword. At least she looks like she doesn't like what just went on. He could get on her side. Maybe.

The large group on the floor however are not amused with Sarah's intrusion. The black cloaked woman points her bloody sword at the intruder causing the thirteen robed figures rise. Wordlessly they approach Sarah.

A wild grin split Sarah's face at the corpse and it's minions' response.

With a screech of rent air, the young woman vanished from the catwalk above. Reappearing amidst the cultists, the air around her began to distort and shift wildly, causing her apparent position to vary wildly with each movement. Swinging her sword wide , it now glowing with a sick red light, a howling rift full of maddening colours tore through several of them, dropping them from the resulting shock.

As the remainder fell upon her, they found their strikes passing through false images, sliding off solid spatial distortions, or even twisting through back to somehow hurt themselves. Laughing wildly, Sarah spins and slashes more of them, her blade passing through them like smoke and trailing streams of red light that are quickly sucked into the weapon before slipping into thin air and coming out across the warehouse from the crowd.

Still giggling to herself Sarah began scything more of the rifts through the remainder of the cultists, teleporting behind the last one with her sword thrust through his chest. Flourishing the blade as he fell unconscious, she turned to face the possessed corpse.

"I'm terribly sorry, I seem to have exhausted all the partners you supplied me with. Would you do me the honour of a last dance then?"

Saluting her opponent, Sarah entered en garde.

Still fixing her gaze on Sarah, the floating corpse woman disappears from sight and reappears behind what seem to be Sarah It is however not Sarah at all but a mirage. This makes the floating corpse very angry. It hisses quietly.

Wesley rushes to aid the brave girl. After what she did to that group though he wonders if she even needs the help. Up the catwalk he sneak to see the undead lady trying to grab at Sarah. A sight to behold, indeed. Dropping the invisibility he shoots a large black vein-like tentacle towards from his hand at the floating woman. "Hey lady, hands off the lady!" Wesley is not surprised at all when the tentacle passes through her. It's undead and untouchable, great.

Sarah took a quick glance at the man on the catwalk, thankful that appeared to be on her side.

Taking advantage of the demon's distraction from it's failed attack, she stabbed her runeblade into the thing's side, trying to destroy it quickly and put the poor woman's body to rest.

Despite the thing's incorporeal form, the blade bites into it's flesh easily, tearing a large wound from which large streams of reddish energy sprayed forth before streaming into the sword.

The corpse howls in anger as another blade enters her flesh. This does not endear Sarah to the floating dead woman. It's rage builds builds. Oh look, there's a new face. It smells of slight fear. As the poor mortal gazes upon her his worst nightmares are relived in his head. Wesley has many nightmares. Some he can't forget. This is not the time to be thinking about them! But the corpse brings back so many memories. The 18 years of hell in the south. His mother and father's death. The woman he loved and had to kill. They eat at his mind. The corpse blinks behind him and bites down on his neck. Hard. He tries to scream in pain but she overs his mouth enjoying the sweet fear he is producing.

"And where do you think you're going!"

Warping up after the hellspawn, Sarah aimed a slash at the thing's back. While the strike seemed to land true, the demon's flesh proved far more resilient this time, deflecting the blade easily. Letting out a grunt of annoyance, she quickly recovered and thrust up at the fiend's head, only to be foiled again as her sword skittered off it's unnaturally strong skin.

The floating corpse floats no long as it drags Wesley to the ground. Her cloak envelops them both as she does so. In the darkness of the big black cloak, Wesley glows a vibrant red. She can smell his fear, she can taste his fear, she can literally SEE his fear. That made him all the more delicious. She took another bite out of the same place she bit before. Wesley can do nothing but recede into his nightmares. They taunt him for being who he is. They scold him for what he could have done. They will not let him rest at all.

Snarling in anger at being denied her target, Sarah began clawing at the demon's cloak. Hearing more grunts of pain from underneath, she sped up her efforts.

Finally managing to yank the heavy cloth away, she saw the monster still wrapped around her erstwhile ally, gnawing an even larger hole into him.

The demon has choices to make. Stay here and finish delicious snack or deal with pesky thing stabbing at it's new body? The delicious snack seems pretty much down for the count. But the stabbing has to stop post haste! Standing up to meet the dinner interrupter, the body lets out a baleful moan. It resonates on a primal level. Sarah now knows this was not a volunteer effort on the dead's part. The woman before her had a life, a husband and three children. She does not want to be dead at all, she was at the wrong place at the wrong time. They 'prepared' her in the most inhumane and unspeakable ways to be a sacrifice. The demon magnifies the corpse's feeling a thousand fold, assaulting Sarah psyche.

Wesley feels around, the ghost girl is no longer feeding on him. Hacking a cough is hard with parts of his neck being gnawed thoroughly. Though he knows that if he keeps his eyes off the dead girl, he'll be fine. Taking that cue, he uses his biological morphing power to temporarily blind himself and heighten his sense of hearing to make up for the loss. Focusing inward, he causes all of his wounds to close..

Staggering back as the demon's assault threatened to drown her, Sarah fell to one knee as she let out a sob of despair. She stared at floor as she began to hyperventilate in response, but her anger at the situation ignited a fire inside that sent a surge of magic through her that swept aside the feelings of hopelessness.

Surging to her feet, Sarah gave an enraged scream as she swing wildly at the demon's head.

Wesley post

Wesley feels for his surroundings. Getting to know where he is. He hears the demon corpse nearby knowing he can't affect it he senses that the swords woman has been affected by the fear. Wesley flickers an aura of dark red, almost purple, as does Sarah. The despair in her mind is replaced by rage. A consuming rage for everything the demon corpse stands for.
