Just last night, the population of Freedom Cuioty increased by one, but a very strange one, as Clyst moved through a sewer grate and into the sewers of Freedom City. Moving along slowly and with great curiosity, Clyst examined the metal of the pipe, and the many holes that lead to various houses and businesses in the low rent district of the Fens. He was both excited nad a bit fearful at the same time. For he had decided to leave the water behind, and try a long-term foray into the land above, for he felt he was finally ready for the jump upwards, but had no idea whet would happen, or if he could even do it.

So he moved along, heading up the pipe until a speck of daylight formed a good ly distance away and grew steadily stronger. Stgronger and stronger, to Clyst it seemed a gateway to his new life, and his expectations grew and diminished as he got closer. His feelings warring with himself, always a very uncomfortable thing, a\s his body was very prone to losing cohesiveness even in the best situations, and even a small change in his structure and internal procewsses could have strong effects on his environment.

And then, arriving, he looked out on the scene, Downtown Freedom.

OOC: No heroes of Villians here right now, but if the referees have anything, jump on in. This is a bit of a solo thing right now. I'll post more, including potential stuff for other people in a couple of days.

One of the first things that Clyst noticed was how cold it was out there on the surface. His previous forays to the surface world - Florida, he thought it was called - had been much more hospitable. There weren't as many of the talking animals out and about, which makes sense, given the beastly weather. Of course, that has its advantages. There are fewer of them to witness him. He doesn't know how they'd react to him, but strange things are sometimes met with fear instead of curiosity.

Luckily Clyst has an answr to that. Reforming his internal structure a bit, he starts to generate heat automatically, not knowing if it might be noticed or not. In seconds, it is a balmy 80 degrees in a good 30 foot radius, centered on teh sewer grate.

OOC: 5 points of Power into Environment-heat, then turned up to max effect. The other 7 points into Aura-Heat.

At first, the scent of the water that Clyst is turning to steam is somewhat foul, befitting the water's source. After a short while, though, the contaminants are burnt away, and the steam is purer. The talking ones don't seem to notice anything unusual where Clyst is concerned. Perhaps they're used to steam issuing from the pipes sometimes, or perhaps they're just very unobservant.

OOC: Not sure why the "Talking animals" and "talking ones" are entering the posts. Is Clyst under some sort of mental control or influence that is putting these thoughts into his head? If not, I would prefer to write his reactions and views of humans myself.

Clyst barely notices the heat and steam as his body keeps him at a good temperature, maybe the only reason it did not is he was distracted by all the things and peoples moving around. Sticking out one eye section, he looks at he cars, and peoplel and everything else moving by, so very very close. He is scared, indeed, but this is so.... alive, so ... differnt form the bottomless ocean where he feels most at home. Not sure where to go or what to do, he keeps a lookout, looking for perhaps one of those with special posers, who he fels drawn to.

And Clyst watches the humans for a while, secure in his sewer fortress, and wait for dark to fall, for he has noticed that the humans virtually disappear at night, though he is not totally sure why. But it is unmistakeable. Maybe it is too cold for them, but then why are they outside now, and why don't they just warm themselves like Clyst does. And what is with all the stuff they wear on their bodies. Sometimes they wear so little, like on the beach, and now they wear so much, like here and nw. Very confusing.

But after a while he moves back into he sewer, and starts looking for a hole to hide in, a place secure enough for him to rest and not be attacked. He searches the rest of the day.

After a while Clyst finds himself a hole to hide in, a largish room behind several three inch diameter, or smaller pipes that makes him feel that only he can get into the lair, at least only he of dangerous creatures. Sure, a rat could get in, and Clyst rather hopes more do, after he finishes devouring a largish nest that was already there.

And now that he has found himself a home, probably under the area of the Theater District. He is not sure, but now it is time to head out, and take the biggest step of his life, meeting up with some kind of hero.

Kevin leans against a building, exhausted. "The only thing worse than Christmas shopping is Christmas returns," he says to himself. Thankfully, his parents hadn't given him too much stuff that he needed to return, but he was still growing bigger than what they had remembered. He was still nothing on his old man in his prime, but right now, he could give him a run for his money.

The other bright side is that the clothes came from chain department stores, so he didn't have to return them down in Texas. He had put off doing it for a while, but he didn't want to wait much longer and be unable to return the things.

Then he hears a woman yelp, and he looks up. "Stop, thief!" she yells out. Kevin almost laughs to himself. Maybe this is something more his speed - battlesuits and assassins haven't seemed to be. He takes a step forward from off the wall and wraps the guy running by up in a grab that his coach would be proud of. The man - more of a boy, actually - can't get out as Kevin speaks in a clear voice, enunciating every word.

"Drop the purse," he says. The only reason the mugger hesitates is because Kevin isn't giving him much room to move, but he slowly releases the purse. Kevin lets him go, giving him a little shove away. "Get out of here." The mugger stumbles, then runs off before anyone else decides to be less forgiving. Kevin picks up the purse and walks it back to the woman who had screamed. She seems grateful, and Kevin can't help but get an awe-shucks sort of look on his face. He heads away before she can do anything like offer him money - heck, that didn't even require any of his powers.

Clyst has seen this form a nearby sewer grate, and suddenly starts quivering all over as he sees th man do something to the one who stole something and then give the... whatever it was back to the other one. He tries to stay hidden. but is not sure if he did or not. Nevertheless, he reaches out a very very thin tendrial to try to touch the creature, trying to say hello in the way of its kind.

OOC: Hope this is not the end of Clyst ;)
