A Meeting of Ancients (IC)

Tonight was a night of nostalgia, at least for Dalkaresh, he currently looking over the city he had lived in the last 200 years, the city he had seen raised up around him, through turmoil, blood, sweat and tears, and he had been amongst them, as one of them. Which was a fulfilling feeling, to be part of something as great as this. A breeze swept across the rooftops, swirling his hair in the wind, taking Dalkaresh's thoughts with them, closing his eyes, he enjoyed the moment to it's fullest, silently and with great joy.

The city covered in lights below him seemed like a living, glistening jewel amidst a see of nothingness. The sight sends a pang of longing to one viewer as he floats two hundred feet higher than the highest building. The Vestige floats silently as memories of the shining towers and glittering avenues of Atlantis tear at his heart.

He spies an oddly familiar being some distance away from him. It takes a moment for him to realize that he is seeing a being of the Fey. How dare they break the pacts made between them and the Atlanteans? Angered by this breach of the pact, he surges forward on winds of the aether to confront this upstart.

"Why are you here fae'ree? You know your kind are not allowed in this plane!"

A voice breaks through his island of calm, with a claim of outrageous proportions, turning towards the interrupter Dalkaresh answers solemnly, trying to hide his surprise “There has been no such treaty in time immemorial, not since the nation of Atlantis’ burial.†He didn’t know what was most surprising, that someone knew that he was a fey, or that they knew of the treaty between the fey and the Atlanteans, but it was inconsequential, there were none left to enforce this so called law, and Dalkaresh had been down to Earth during that time, so he didn't put much stock in it.

"Impertinent whelp! I AM FROM ATLANTIS! How else would I know about the treaty forged by your kind and mine? I... We were but several of those who bore witness and added our own energies to that pact. There was no clause there that allowed your kind to stray here even if Atlantis now is lost to the sands of time."

With each passing moment, the aura of anger and hatred grew around The Vestige until even the dimmest fool could feel it.

That’s what you think, mused Dalkaresh, ignoring the Atlantean’s insult, whelp, Dalkaresh been around since before the Atlantean kingdom had ever been conceived. Even so, he couldn’t help but be intrigued, a survivor, no, perhaps not the best of words to describe this thing, legacy perhaps, although Dalkaresh doubted such hated filled and arrogant entity was a proper legacy for such a magnificent kingdom, despite its flaws. But there was something more pressing, although it would likely just add fuel to the fire, no matter, Dalkaresh was in the mood for trickery “We do not care for the law of fey, we were here during the Atlantean reign anyway.â€Â

"Then it seems you and your kind have a lot to atone for. Several millenniums to be exact." As The Vestige speaks to Dalkaresh, wisps of aether begin to form into a massive blade of obsidian. He hefts it up with one hand and points the tip at the fey.

"You will be the first of your kind to pay for your trespasses." Gripping his sword with both hands, The Vestige prepares to attack.

Sighing heavily, albeit theatrically, Dalkaresh lifts his blade, Vehemence in salute, his form seemingly dissolving as he does so, glamour weaving around him, suddenly there are two Dalkareshes, both standing in the exact same pose, pointing their swords towards the Atlantean, one is real, the other is not. How brutish indeed, won’t you words heed, or must we really make you bleed? taunts both images in playful unison. The real Dalkaresh hasn’t moved an inch from where he started, but instead placed the illusion elsewhere, and let himself phase into the realm of dreams, making him almost ethereal to the touch, now all he needed to do was see the response.

"Parlor tricks? It seems your kind has only ever amounted to that, Lord or should I say Lady of the Elusive Dream. I can never seem to tell the difference between those of your kind."

Quickly moving forward, The Vestige raises his massive sword for a killing strike but the Dalkaresh he strikes is merely and illusion.

"Show yourselves now and I can guarantee you a swifter punishment than that which is the custom!"

Smiling playfully, the other Dalkaresh vanishes from its place; a sword appears underneath the Vestiges throat, merely marking that had he wanted to, Dalkaresh could have attacked him from behind without remorse or hesitation. The moment only lasts a few seconds, again he disappears, and this time he appears in front of the Vestige, blade pointed towards him in the same mocking salute as before.

Once again, Dalkaresh smiles, even though the projected energy is headed straight towards him. “Oh, but we are serious indeed...†begins he, moving his head but a fraction, letting the bolt of energy roar past him. “... we simply don't wish to see thee bleed...†a mighty boom errupts from behind him as the bolt strikes a water tank, sending fragments of metal flying in all directions “... but perhaps we'd better speak through deed.†barely has he finished the sentence, before his sword elongates and starts spreading out like the roots of a plant, several razor sharp edges are now heading towards the Atlantean.

The Vestige tries to avoid the numerous metal blades but they are faster. Several of the blades strike him but they fail to pierce his armor.

"Very well then. No more words. Let our skills speak for us."

The Obsidian Blade forming in his hands, The Vestige moves to strike at the Fey Lord as his earlier blast veers around to strike Dalkaresh at the same time. Unfortunately, both sword and magical blast hit the same ephemeral double.

As the two blows pass through him, Dalkaresh rejoices, it has truly been a while since he has felt so alive, and although he would never dream of hurting the Atlantean excessively, he is still tempted to let himself get caught up in the moment and do something a little more, dangerous. For now, he merely swung his sword, delivering an elegant diagonal strike towards the enraged Atlantean.
