I’m a pretty accepting person. I don’t love or hate anyone in particular.

Were there any traumatic experiences in your early years (death of a family member,

abandonment, orphaned at an early age)?

No, I have led a pretty normal life so far. A couple of my grandparents have

passed away, But we were never that close to begin with, so it doesn’t matter.

Pretty well, I never did anything to really tick them off.

No. I am an only child.

Right now, I live with them.

Do you love or hate one member of the family in particular?

Nope. I love ‘em all!

Is any member of the family special to you in any way (perhaps, as a confidant,

mentor, or arch-rival)?

Well, My dad is a pretty cool guy. He’s young enough that he understands what goes

on with kids these days. My mom isn’t out of touch… She’s just too protective, I

think.

Are there any black (or white) sheep in the family (including you)?

I guess I would be the only black sheep. I can be a little rebellious at times,

and I am the only one in the family that has powers, so that helps. But I am not

If so, who are they and how did they "gain" the position?

Every teenager acts out now and again…

Do you have a notorious or celebrated ancestor?

Not that I know of.

Do you ever want to have a family of your own someday?

Well, sure, someday. No where near that point in my life though.

Would anything change your mind on this issue and if so, what?

A bunch of misbehaving screaming kids probably would…

What type of person would be your ideal mate?

Someone who loves music just as much as I do. (and hates country!)

Relationships

Do you have any close friends? If so, who and what are they like?

Well, I just got to Freedom, so I am trying to make friends.

Do you currently have a best friend whom you would protect with your reputation or

your life?

No. I suppose it would be nice to be that close to someone though.

Do you have any bitter enemies?

Not yet.

Which person(s) or group(s) are you most loyal to?

My friends and family, definitely.

Who is your most trusted ally?

I’ll let you know when I find out.

Who do you trust, in general?

If someone is nice enough to be friends with me, I give them the benefit of the

doubt and trust them right off the bat.

Who do you despise and why?

I like everybody.

Name seven things you hate in others.

1. Country Music lovers

2. People who don’t like music at all.

3. I really can’t think of anything else…

Is your image consistent?

Well, I change to a different band shirt every day…

Do you deliberately present yourself differently in different situations, and how?

Well, I do my best to adapt. I usually try to be whatever the situation demands.

Friend, supporter, protector, etc.

What would you die for?

Led Zeppelin II on vinyl. Easy.

What is the worst thing someone has done to you?

Well my parents took away my music once cuz I acted out. But that eventually

caused me to get my powers. So that’s not that bad.

What is your general reaction to an attractive member of the opposite sex who lets

you know they are available?

I am usually pretty receptive, if you know what I mean.

Have you lost any loves?

No.

Who would miss you should you go missing?

My parents probably. I don’t know anyone well enough in Freedom yet to know

whether they would or not.

How close are you to your adventuring companions?

I don’t really have any yet.

Personality & Beliefs

Do you, or did you, have any role models?

All the great music stars. Slash is great. Hendrix. All of them.

Do you have any heroes or idols, either contemporary or from legend?

Well someday I would like to be a big singer in a band. Ronnie James Dio has been

in a few great bands. He’s kind of a small-ish guy, like me but he has a great

voice. So I guess I would pick him.

Did you ever become disillusioned with former heroes or idols? If so, why and what

were the circumstances?

Well, the last few Weezer albums have not been that great…

When did you decide to become an adventurer?

I guess once I moved to Freedom.

Why have you chosen to risk your life as a career?

Woah now… That wasn’t in the job description. Not sure I am ready to commit yet.

What do you expect to get out of being an adventurer? What, if anything, would make

you stop adventuring?

Fame, fortune? All the good stuff. I guess serious injury or something may make me

retire. But hey… I am young and invincible.

Do you have any dreams or ambitions? If not, why?

I want to have a successful DJ career, and be a singer in a band. But that’s about

it. I think it would be cool to be famous. That’s why.

What are your short term goals (what would you like to be doing within a year)?

Getting a solid DJ job. One I can keep and be proud of.

What are your long term goals (what would you like to be doing twenty years from

now)?

Didn’t I already answer this question?

Do you have any great rational or irrational fears or phobias? If so, what are the

origins of, or reasons behind them?

You might say that I fear the power of country music…NAH

How do you react when this fear manifests itself?

I run away from the country music… Far away, haha.

What are your attitudes regarding material wealth?

I would like to have some.

Are you miserly with your share of the wealth, or do you spend it freely?

I am a pretty big spender.

Do you see wealth as a mark of success, or just as a means to an end?

Both really. If you’ve done well you’ll be rich. But you can also use it to make

a difference.

How do you generally treat others?

I try to respect people as much as possible.

Do you trust easily (perhaps too easily) or not?

Yes. I prefer the ‘benefit of the doubt’ method

Are you introverted (shy and withdrawn) or extroverted (outgoing)?

Oh definitely outgoing.

Are you a humble soul or blusteringly proud?

Well, I am pretty humble about my abilities. But if I do something great, I tend

to be proud of it.

What habits do you find most annoying in friends?

I don’t like it when my friends don’t “feel like doing anythingâ€Â

What are your most annoying habits?

Well I have the bad habit of turning up my music so I can’t hear people sometimes.

But that’s only when I really don’t want to talk to people, which is not often.

Is there any race, creed, alignment, religion, class, profession, political

viewpoint, or the like against which you are strongly prejudiced, and why?

People who play or sing country music. I friggen hate those guys.

What is your favourite food?

Pizza – Just like every other teenager on the planet.

What is your favourite drink?

Mountain Dew – or beer if I am at a party or can get my hands on it.

What is your favorite treat (desert)?

Well, I love cake. Who doesn’t?

Do you favour a particular cuisine?

Italian food is good.

Do you savor the tastes when eating or "wolf down" your food?

I usually wolf it down. Unless it’s spicy. Then I take it slow.

Do you like food mild or heavily spiced?

Depends on the food. But I do like it both ways.

Are there any specific foodstuffs that you find disgusting or refuse to eat?

Brussel Sprouts, Asparagus, Avacados. There is a list, but its pretty boring.

What are your favourite colour(s)?

Green, Black, I don’t really have a favorite color, but those are colors I like to

wear.

Is there any colour that you dislike?

Yellow hurts my eyes to look at sometimes if it is really bright…

Do you have a favourite (or hated) song, type of music, or instrument?

Country music! How many times to I have to say it?

If you have a favourite scent, what is it?

Does, “Mosh Pit†count?

What is your favourite type of animal?

I think platypuses are pretty neat.

Are you allergic to any kinds of animals?

I suspect that I am allergic to cats. Sometimes my nose runs when I am around

them.

Is there anything that enrages you?

Um, The twang in a country singer’s voice – It makes my blood boil…

Is there anything which embarrasses you?

Sometimes I use my audio projection at the worst times – It’s pretty embarrassing.

Do you enjoy "roughing it", or do you prefer your creature comforts?

I can do either. Depends on the mood I am in. (and the music I am listening to.)

Do you have a patron deity?

Nah.

Are you devout or impious?

I am pretty casual about my beliefs.

Do you actively worship and proselytize or do you simply pay lip service?

I don’t even pray very often…

What lengths would you go to defend your faith?

Not very far. It really doesn’t matter to me.

Was your faith influenced or molded by anyone special?

Nope.

Do you belong to a dominant church, or an independent church, cult, or sect (and is

the group accepted, frowned upon, or considered heretics)?

I don’t even go to church anymore that my mom stopped making me.

Will you kill?

Only if it was absolutely 100% necessary. It would have to be really important too.

Like saves lives important.

When did you decide (or learn) that you would?

I never thought about it before, so just right now I guess.

When do you consider it okay to kill (under what circumstances)?

Very very rarely. I’ll do it if there are no other alternatives what so ever.

When do you consider it wrong to kill (under what circumstances)?

Pretty much all of the time. It’s just plain not cool.

What would you do if someone else attempted to (or successfully did) kill under

your "wrong" circumstances, what would be your reaction?

I would probably be pretty angry at them. I can’t say I would have a ‘general

reaction’ to this though. It would probably be heavily situational.

What if it were your enemy?

I would probably give them a pretty good beat-down for it.

What if it were your friend?

I would probably be hard pressed to remain friends with them. Unless it was an

accident or something. Everyone makes mistakes I suppose.

What if the opponent were not in control of their own actions (under duress,

charmed, dominated, possessed)?

I guess they couldn’t really help it then. I would be willing to forgive.

Something would have to be done about the controller, though.

What would you do if something were stolen from you?

I would do my best to get it back.

What would you do if you were badly insulted publicly?

I would answer back as best as possible. Rap battle possibly? Haha.

What would you do if a good friend or relative were killed by means other than

natural death?

I would try and find out why.

What is the one task you would absolutely refuse to do?

Join a country music band – never going to happen!

What do you consider to be the worst crime someone could commit and why?

Singing country music? Because it’s just that awful!

How do you feel about government (rulers) in general? Why do you feel that way?

Honestly, I am too young to care.

Do you support the current government of your homeland?

Sure. Its kind of your job in America to be supportive. Even if you don’t like

it.

If so, how far are you willing to go to defend the government? If not, do you

actively oppose it?

Again, that’s very situational.

What form of government do you believe is the best (democracy, monarchy, anarchy,

aristocratic rule, oligarchy, matriarchy) and why?

Democracy – That way everyone gets a say. Communism is better on paper though.

Do you have any unusual habits or dominant personality traits that are evident to

others?

I listen to music constantly. That’s pretty noticeable. Also my music knowledge

is pretty good.

If so, describe them and how you acquired them, as well as when they might be more

noticeable and what causes them.

Its just the nature of my personality. Music is who I am. It would be counter

intuitive if I didn’t listen to it or know anything about it.

Do you have any unusual or nervous mannerisms, such as when talking, thinking,

afraid, under stress, or when embarrassed?

When things get rough, I usually need music to deal with it.

What is your most treasured possession?

My music collection

If your life were to end in 24 hours, what 5 things would you do in those remaining

hours?

Sell all of my music and buy something really nice I guess? I don’t know.

Career & Training

Where and how were you educated?

Public middle school and some high school. Now I am going to start going to

Claremont.

Who trained you in your adventuring class(es)?

I haven’t had any formal training yet.

What was your relationship with your teacher(s)/mentor(s)?

I wasn’t very close with any of my teachers in particular. Which is good because I

don’t see them anymore.

Were you a prize student or did you just barely pass?

I usually slid by on natural ability. I got pretty decent grades though.

Look at your skills. How did you acquire them (especially the unusual ones)?

Everything I’ve got I have my music to thank for.

Have you ever done anything else for a living?

Well, I am trying to get into DJ-ing, but it’s a slow process.

How do you function in combat (maneuvers, weaknesses)?

I try to be highly adaptive. My powers help with that. I can do lots with them,

so I try to mix it up as much as possible and keep people guessing.

Have you ever received any awards or honours?

A few dance contests here and there. But nothing special.

Is there anything that you don't currently know how to do that you wish you could?

Well its more of an improvement. I would like to improve the range of my vocals.

Are you envious of others who can do such things in a good-natured way or are you

sullen and morose about it?

Envious – In a competitive way. I like being the best at what I do.

Lifestyle & Hobbies

When not adventuring, what is your normal daily routine?

Get up, get out, hang around town, listen to music during the whole thing.

How do you feel and react when this routine is interrupted for some reason?

If I don’t get my music I get cranky. I don’t care about the rest of my ‘routine’

enough to get upset about it.

What are your hobbies when you are not adventuring or training?

Sometimes I like to remix song. Come to think of it, being a mix artist might be

something cool to do.

What do you do for relaxation? What things do you do for enjoyment? What interests

do you have?

Music, music, and more music.

How do you normally dress when not in your adventuring gear?

Jeans and a t-shirt. I don’t really have a costume, so that’s pretty standard all

around.

What do you normally wear in bed at home?

Wouldn’t you like to know.

Do you wear any identifiable jewelry?

My headphones if they count. I wear a band around my arm most times. But that’s

it.

Where do you normally put your weapons, magic items, or other valuables when you

are sleeping?

I don’t own anything like that.

What morning or evening routines do you normally have?

Nothing important besides listening to music.

Do these change when you are adventuring?

Nope.

Travel: how do you get around locally?

Any way I can. Flight, running, or teleporting – whatever I am in the mood for.

Do you have a Last Will and Testament?

Dude, I am 17. What do I need that for?

Miscellaneous

What would you like to be remembered for after your death?

My music career. (Hopefully I’ve got one by then)

What kind of threat do you present to the public?

Um, I don’t.

If your features were to be destroyed beyond recognition, is there any other way of

identifying your body?

I guess not. Dental records?

As a player, if you could, what advice would you give your character? Speak as if

he/she were sitting right here in front of you. Use proper tone so they might heed

your advice...

“Dude, just be a little more confident in yourself.â€Â

Eddie blinked, and cleared his head of the radio station. "God, I love that song." He stood up from the side of the building where he had

been sitting. He slipped on his favorite pair of headphones and squeezed his iPOD out of his pocket. He fired it up planning on listening to the rest of Seether's

"Karma and Effect" album while he walked home. He had been visiting Claremont. The place where he would be starting school soon. He had just wanted to see what the place looked like. He couldn't get in yet, because he was not a student, but that's okay. He always felt that getting to know the outside of a place would help you know the inside of it as well. That way when you look out the windows, you know where you are.

Yea he was going to be doing a lot of looking out those windows come fall. He turned around to look at the building again while walking backwards away from it. The next of the songs on the album started up...

"If I gave you the truth would it keep you alive?

Though I'm closer to wrong I'm no further from right.

And now I'm convinced on the outside

There's something wrong with me

Convinced on the outside, there's so much more to

MEEEEEEE!!!"

Eddie let himself fall into the music, and he sprinted off down the street on his way home.

Not many people set their alarm clocks on a Saturday morning. Even less people do it on a Saturday during a summer. An even few number of people that do that are teenagers. Eddie did not fall into any of these categories...Usually. However today he had things to do. So his alarm woke him up at 9. Eddie didn't talk much in the mornings. Especially those mornings that he was up earlier than he wanted to be. Well, earlier than he truly wanted to be that is. But today he had things to do, and he didn't want to waste half of the day in bed. He had only been in Freedom City for a few days now, and he really wanted to take care of a few things.

Coffee, eggs, milk, more coffee...

"Ugh... I hate mornings..."

Shower, jeans, deodorant, t-shirt...

"Worst part of the day..."

Toothbrush, mouthwash, headphones, bag, done.

He regretted moving. Especially because it was in the middle of the summer. School started a few months away. Why couldn't they have waited to move until he would actually be starting school soon. That way he would at least have been able to spend the summer with his friends. His parents had found a good deal on a house, they said. They had to move in earlier than expected, they said. "Guess they don't understand how hard it is to meat people when you don't really have the means to do so." Eddie thought about how he didn't have a car, didn't have friends, and didn't know any way of meeting people his age in a huge city like this. But then he thought about all the things that he could do that normal kids couldn't. That cheered him up.

Sometimes he forgot he HAD powers. But not for long. As he walked, he decided he would try and find the best morning shows on the radio in freedom. He started tuning into all the FM frequencies he could hear near his house. Commercials, Commercials, Music, Commercials, Music, Music, Damnit it's Saturday.

That meant no morning shows. Oh well. No biggie, he always had his iPOD.

Eddie left his house and started walking. He threw his iPOD on shuffle. He didn't care what he listened to right now. He didn't even feel like using his powers. He just wanted to walk around and see who he could find...The day before he had printed out some flyers. He was new in town, and when you are new in town you advertise. He thought two different flyers would do, and he walked around the city putting them up anywhere he thought people might look...

"Local singer looking for opening in band. Call and ask for Eddie," was the first one.

"Professional DJ for hire. Parties, Weddings, Whatever! Ask for DJ JUKE." was the second.

His phone number was printed on both of the flyers, "And now I wait..."

It had been a few days since Breakdown had put up his fliers. He had had a few responses, but none had really gone anywhere. A few bands had called him, but

their material was not something that he wanted to sing for. A few people had called about possible DJ positions as well, but they had mostly been children's birthday parties. I really don't think that would be the best way to begin my DJ career in Freedom City. I mean what would stop them from asking me to dress like a clown as well? Eddie concluded as he hung up the phone on yet another birthday DJ request, At least no birthdays for kids who have not even reached their teens yet. I really do not want a bunch of 5-year-olds running around my DJ table.

"Maybe I just have to put up more fliers," Eddie said to himself, "It's only been a few days, after all. I hope that I get some decent responses soon, thought."

Later that afternoon, Eddie floated around downtown Freedom listening to some nice relaxing Jazz music and stapling fliers to telephone poles. It was a strange sight to behold. Maybe the whole flying thing will enable me to pull in a few more calls...

"Amateur DJ Night - Apply Within" the sign said.

"Oh why the hell not?" Eddie asked himself. One of his newest friends in the city had told him about this place. Said they sometimes had nights where aspiring DJ's could show off their skill. It wasn't paid, but that was okay. It's not like Eddie had any equipment to buy. All he needed was the house tables and the headphones around his neck for his performance.

There was no pay... But at least he could get his name on the street this way. And maybe if people could see how he didn't even need speakers, he would probably be pretty popular...

Eddie walked through the door, with his pride between his legs. What else was he going to do?

Nobody has even CALLED about a decent DJ opportunity. There's nothing else to do...

Link to comment

To say that the Amateur DJ night went well would be a gross understatement. The crowd had loved him. They had been especially impressed by how he had made a point of having all of the speakers on the stage unplugged and turned over (thus ensuring that they would not mistake his audio projection for him using the actual speakers.

The next morning, Eddie received a phone call...

"Hello?" he answered.

"Hi, is this Eddie?" a voice answered.

"Yes, who is this?"

"Lars Standing, Executive Manager of Millennium. I saw you're performance last night at that club, kid. You're pretty good at that DJ act," Lars replied.

"Oh, well thanks man. It's just a hobby, you know."

"Well you're good at it. How would you like a part time job here? I could probably pull together an hour or two for you to showcase your stuff. It may not be on the best nights, but at least it would be something. I know how it's tough to get started in a career like this, but I like your stuff and I think you deserve a shot."

"That would be awesome. That's just what I was looking for!"

"Great to hear it. Which reminds me...How did you pull off that trick with the speakers? I would like to use that gimmick, but I need to know if there is any special equipment I need to be setting up for you," Lars asked

"Oh, hah, that's easy. I have super powers," Jack replied matter-of-factly.

"Haha right. Okay, I can respect you not wanting to tell me. So can you work Wednesday nights?"

"I can work whenever you want!"

"Do you have reliable transportation?"

"Dude...I can fly"

Link to comment

Wednesday night came around, and Eddie did in fact fly into work.

Setting up the employment for his first big job was no big deal. All he had to do was hand Lars a few papers and sign a few more. Then he was all squared away.

10 minutes later he was on the dance floor turning on the magic. His set list started off with Dance Commander by Electric Six. He moved on to include the recently popularized Calabria 2008 by Enur. From 10 to 11, the dance floor at Millennium was jamin'. Unfortunately after that, his set and his shift were over. He welcomed up the next DJ and stepped down.

It was a solid performance for the first day on the job.

Next time I think I will try out those tables...

Link to comment

Things were going good for Eddie...

I like this town, He thought, I managed to nab my own DJ position. It's not on a great night, but I think that if I keep 'wowing' the crowd like I have been with my powers, Lars is gonna have no choice but to move me to a better night. Or at the very least give me an exteded set.

Eddie flopped on his bed, relaxing and listening to his music. "What's the Frequency, Kenneth" by R.E.M. was playing through his headphones.

You know... If I am going to be spending so much time in the clubs, I really need to start listening to Dance music more. Maybe I can even start to draw some powers from it if I put my mind to it.

Eddie fiddled with his iPOD and put on a play list of dance music. The first two songs were "Calabria 2008" by Enur, and "Weapon of Choice" by Fat Boy Slim. The second on he was planning on trying to remix. The rest of the songs he just randomized.

Eddie relaxed and fell into the music running through his head, remarking on how he still didn't have powers linked to certain types of music. The R.E.M. song flashed through his head again, but only quickly.

Clearly I have some work to do he thought as he closed his eyes...

July 1, 2009: 9:12 AM

Eddie yawned and and sat up in bed. His hair was more frazzled than it normally was, and the hole filled "Motley Crue - Generation Swine" t-shirt he wore to bed most nights was all askew. He reached up and stretched his arms out.

"Brand new month," he yawned again. "My placement test is over, I've got a DJ job, things are falling into place pretty well." *yawn*

Eddie tilted his head and picked up the local radio station's morning show. He flopped back onto his pillow and listened to them gripe about how Michael Jackson had passed away.

"Cryin shame too," Eddie commented, yawning once more, as he listened. "He was great as a kid. He didn't write anything good recently, but hey, they can't all be winners." He made a mental note to remix one of MJ's songs at his next DJ night....

OH CRAP! That's tonight! I have work to do! Eddie hopped up from his bed and ran over to the Desktop computer on the other side of the room.

It had taken him a few weeks to finally get his room in order the way he wanted it. With the money he had made from his first few DJ jobs, he had bought some new equipment. He slipped a brand new pair of BOSE sound canceling headphones over his ears and booted up his music program. The other things he had set up at his desk was a microphone, and a mini turn table. The desk curved around him, and covered the corner between two walls. It was a miniature recording studio right in his own room.

He wanted a good show for tonight. With any luck, they wouldn't pull him after his first hour tonight. If he could nail the next time slot he could really start to perform. With a two hour time slot he could play a few less well known songs and get away with it. Maybe even some of his personal favorite treasures. He would also be able to throw a few original remixes in there. Eddie set to work. He threw together a few mash ups, practiced scratching a few more popular songs, and finally had a set list he was happy with. One that would last a good two hours. He began working on mixing up a new version of "Forgive Me" by Infected Mushroom.

NOW let's see Lars pull me at 10! he thought.

12 hours later, DJ JUKE was up behind the turntables at the Millennium working the set list he had come up with that morning. He was dressed in a white button down shirt and a black sport jacket. He sported a red tie, his newest pair of flat-tops covered his feet, and an expensive pair of sunglasses (which were slightly obscured by his hair) sat on his head under his headphones. He tried to change his look for almost every show. Just like his DJ name, JUKE, he tried to mix it up.

He was glad that he learned how to mod a pair of headphones so that it could read from two different inputs at the same time. This had enabled him to listen to a song being played of his iPOD as well as taking a blank vinyl record on one of the turntables, scratch it, and pull it through to the other speaker in the headphones. This allowed him to listen to both things and thus project both things across the dance floor.

Ten minutes to ten, JUKE looked up from the song he was currently working and scanned the crowd for Lars. He finally saw his boss leaning up against the bar to the other side of the room. Lars tapped his watch, (JUKE frowned at this) but then made another motion with his hand like he was turning the crank on an old fashioned video camera. It was the "Keep it rolling" motion. JUKE smiled big, YES! that had just made his day.

As "Da Funk" by Daft Punk rang out over the dance floor, JUKE thought about his job. The club scene is pretty similar no matter where you go. There is always a packed dance floor, a DJ table (which is usually set up on a stage or something), and a bar. The setup in JUKE's room of the Millennium was shaped like an "L" with the DJ table being setup at the corner of the "L". The dance floor stretched out along one end of the "L" and the bar was at the other end of the "L". Usually when a place hires a new DJ it takes a few performances for the regulars to get used to that DJ's style. Eventually some of them would begin to make Music requests.

It was about 20 past 10 when a group of three girls (all well dressed and in their early 20's). It was during one of JUKE's favorite yet obscure Ska songs - "Over Seasons" by Authority Zero. The three girls stood in front of his DJ table. The table was on a raised platform that covered the corner of the "L". Surrounding the front was a few railings ensuring that no one would be able to fall off the front. The DJ table was pressed up against this. To either side was a set of three steps leading up to the platform.

JUKE played hard to get for a minute. Anyone who has been to a good club knows that trying to get the DJ's attention is the hardest thing ever. And that makes it that much more satisfying when you do. JUKE pretended to ignore them for a minute or two, but underneath his sunglasses, his eyes were all over them. That's why they were there after all.

Finally he turned to the first girl who was looking him straight in the eye. She had a drink in her hand. He motioned for her to climb the steps and visit him up on the stage. She did so. When she got right next to him, he removed on side of the headphones. It was the speaker connected to the turn table. With that speaker away from his ear he wouldn't be able to scratch the record on the turn table. He wasn't worried though. The song currently playing didn't really call for it anyway. He kept his head down and concentrated on the music while the girl yelled in his ear. "If you can play my song, you can come and party with my friends and I after your set!"

JUKE turned his head and looked at her through the sunglasses. A Jukebox never says anything, he thought, It just plays. He nodded at her and turned his ear back to her.

"Calabria!" she yelled. JUKE's eyes flashed. It was one of his favorite dance songs. One he had painfully left out of tonights set list at the risk of being too repetitive. Since he had played it last time.

JUKE held up a finger in a "one second" Gesture. He whipped out a second IPOD while he was mixing with the other one, and pulled up Calabria on it. He motioned for the two other girls to join him on the stage. He docked the second IPOD next to the first. As "Over Seasons" started to fade out, he quickly pulled the plug on the first IPOD with his right hand, scratched the record with his left a few times while plugging the headphone jack back into the second IPOD. As soon as the song began to play through his headphones, he projected it out to the dance floor. The transition had been seamless. For the next three minutes or so JUKE danced to one of his favorite songs on stage with three good looking girls.

This is the LIFE!

Eddie finally stirred awake. My head! It was the only thing he could think about it hurt so badly. He didn't remember what time he had come in the night before. He didn't remember where he had gone after the Millennium. He didn't remember how much he had had to drink. He could only remember that he had been somewhere with those three girls.

And his head sure did hurt.

Eddie crawled out of bed with all of the relative speed of a slug. He wandered down the hall, grabbed a glass of water at the bathroom, chugged it back, poured another, and chugged that one too. He then proceeded to amble back to his room. Flopping back onto his bed he groaned loudly and fell back into the relaxing folds of sleep.

I'm not doing ANYTHING today!

Eddie sat in his room fooling around with a few songs on his mixing software. He was working on a few more remixes and comps to use for his DJ night this week. "Ugh... This can be taken care of later I guess." Eddie sighed, and pulled up a calendar on his cell phone.

His placement test had been completed a few weeks ago. He was due to start moving some of his stuff into Claremont soon. The admissions office wanted him to get his things set up in plenty of time for the start of classes. He still needed to find someone to room with, though. He didn't want to be stuck with some random people. Oh god forbid they would be country music fans... Eddie winced at the thought.

Eddie wracked his brain trying to think of someone he could room with. Mark had moved in with mike, which was probably for the best. Mark would be able to cheer Mike up pretty well. Eddie was none too good about avoiding those subjects that Mike was sensitive about anyway.

Alex was rooming with Erin, but that didn't really matter because they were girls anyway. He doubted the Admissions office would allow him to directly share a room with a girl.

The only other person that he had really met at Claremont was Chris. But as far as Eddie knew he already had a roommate. Oh hell he thought as he pulled up the list of contacts on his phone It's gotta be worth a try...

Eddie was adapting pretty well to dormitory life. Having gone to a public school back home, he wasn't used to the whole boarding thing. It helped knowing that his family was only a few miles away if he needed anything.

That was actually the exact reason that he had brought so little to his dorm. He had left his DJ setup in his room at home. But now it was Wednesday again, and he had his DJ night tonight. Sure enough, just after lunch, Eddie was in his room at home mixing up a few new tracks for that night. A recent favorite band of his was 3OH!3. He planned to give a song or two by them a spin that night. The usual artists still had there place of course. He threw in some Fatboy Slim, Eiffel65 (which could usually only fly once in a great while. He was confident he would make it work, though.) and a remix by Jason Nevins. "Ah what the hell..." he mumbled as he was dropping tracks in his play list. He threw in some AC/DC and Daft punk. Classic favorites...

That night rolled around, and he once again found himself on the dance floor behind the scratch tables that he loved so well. Altogether his two hour set was pretty uneventful that night. There were no exciting parties afterward either.

Once the night was over he collected his pay and walked out of the Millennium. It was already midnight, and the only light in the area was cast by the streetlamps. The city at night was an interesting place. There were people hanging out in the alleyways, others walking dogs, and a few homeless people here and there. Eddie walked through a cloud of steam emanating from a sewer drain. He could have flown home if he wanted, but tonight he thought he would just walk...

Eddie woke up with his alarm at 9AM just like he did every morning. He quickly reached over to the alarm and slapped the snooze button. He had to remember that he was living in the same room as someone else now. Good, I didn't wake Chris... Now that the alarm had been snoozed, he could more easily take his time shutting it off properly so the buzzer wouldn't go off again in a few minutes.

Chris had been out late doing that super hero thing last night, and Eddie knew he was still asleep. He didn't want to wake his friend up so he wanted to be as quiet as possible. The alarm was a necessity, however. What with all the action in his life recently, the time he had to spend on his DJ play lists had been significantly reduced. That's why he was up early this morning. He had to make his way back to his actual house where most of his DJ equipment was so that he could develop a new play list for tonight.

He didn't dare repeat the play lists he had been using. That much was a fatal error in this line of work. As soon as you start getting boring, the management suddenly had someone else to replace you. Owing to the fact that his DJ time slot had been extended again recently, he was now working 9-12 on Wednesday night, he had the suspicion he had been selected to replace a few of the other DJ's time slots.

---

Midnight rolled around far faster than it should have. And before he knew it, Eddie was collecting his couple hundred dollars of pay from Lars. "Thanks again for a spectacular show, Eddie." the man as he handed him a wad of bills. Eddie was still too young to actually work in a place like this, so they had to pay him under the table.

"Yea, no problem, Lars. You know I love doing this!" Eddie offered as he walked out the door. Now just to find a place to change into his costume and get to patrolling. He tried to get around a few nights a week, just to make sure that no ruffians were about in center city. He had a certain affinity for party / club patrons who were heading home. He tried to do what he could to make sure they either got home safely in their cars, or were not attacked by any assailants.

Since starting at Claremont, he had been more careful about using his powers as often. As far as he knew no body actually knew that the powers he used to DJ were anything but a stage trick. And from his knowledge, no one had ever really seen him flying around... He tried to make a point of being in costume if he wanted to use his powers these days regardless of what people thought. Listening to all of Edge's stories just made him realize it was safer this way.

Eddie ducked into a side alley. As he was rummaging around in his bag for his equipment, a shadowy figure stepped out of a door frame. The man was much taller than Eddie. A black man dressed in baggy jeans and a white t-shirt with chains around his neck. What the...? Eddie suddenly noticed the tire iron in the man's hand. Does he think he is going to mug me? His eyes went back up to the chains around the man's neck. Muggers don't usually wear jewelry... They can't afford it...

"You stole my job...Punk!" The man said slapping the tire iron into his left hand. "And I'm gonna beat your ass for it!"

Eddie gulped, "You were the 9PM slot at the Millennium, weren't you?"

"Oh so you do know who I am..." The man came closer...And Eddie took off like he was shot out of a cannon. "Hey, come back here!" The man gave chase, and Eddie ducked around the corner of an alley where he had just come from.

The man rounded the corner. *OOF* And ran smack into Breakdown who was floating a few feet off the ground. "Who the hell are you? Where is the kid?!"

"Name's Breakdown." Breakdown said as he waved a hand through the air. The trilling Jazz music flowed over the man and he seemed to relax. "You don't want to bother that kid. In fact, you want to quit while you are ahead, and go home while you still have not committed any crimes."

The man's shoulders slumped and he let the tire iron clatter to the ground. "Yea, that sounds like a good idea." The man sauntered off down the alleyway.

"Man, that was close. I really have to be more careful and watch where I am." Breakdown muttered to himself as he floated off into the night to continue his patrol.

His DJ job had been going real well. He had been getting longer and longer hours. But he was still on Wednesday nights. Actually, he didn't mind the wednesday thing. It was a great reprieve to split up his week.

He only had one regret. Summer was coming to a close. There were only a few more weeks before classes started at Claremont. There really was no telling what his schedule would be like after that. Who was to say? Maybe he would have most of his classes on Thursday morning? If that was the case he surely would have to give up his position here at the Millennium. But it really didn't matter that much. He was making enough of a name for himself as a DJ that he could probably work just about anywhere in town if he gave this job up.

I really just wish I had more time. Breakdown mused as he sat atop a building looking down at the streets of downtown. Wednesday nights were patrol nights. This super hero thing is becoming tougher and tougher to balance as time goes on. I really don't know how Geckoman does it! Then again... Maybe he doesn't.

Suddenly a car went screaming off down the street. It was being pursued by a police car. "Hey! They're playing my song!" Breakdown took off like a rocket across the rooftops following the car chase...

Eddie shut the door to his room. Good, Chris wasn't around. He wanted to enjoy the way he was feeling for a minute...Best. Day. Ever! He thought.

"Some friends of mine, just the other night,

Went to hear this cool cat blow.

The say he sang so good that the roof fell in,

And they didnt even stop the show.

They dont remember the place, but they remember the face,

And now everybody wanna go..."

He had finally managed to track down a guitarist for his group. While he still suspected that James would fill the last spot if he asked him nice enough, that means his band was complete. What's even better was that he and Zoe had hit it off so well that they were actually dating now. Eddie felt like he was on top of the world. He had just gotten back from dropping her off at her room after all.

"Top jimmy cooks, top jimmy swings.

Hes got the look. top jimmy, hes the king.

Jimmy on the television, famous people laughing with him,

Jimmy on the news at five.

Jimmy on the radio and even on the video,

That baddest cat alive.

Driving all the women crazy, only want jimmy-baby,

Love it when he rolls his eyes."

He couldn't put this girl out of his mind. She was amazing! She knew almost as much about music as he did, (though she liked to flaunt that a little more than he did). She played a mean guitar. She was great looking, and she was funny! If ever there was a girl for him, he had just met her.

I hope she's as crazy about me as I am about her! He thought as he pulled the Van Halen t-shirt over his head and stared at the design on the front.

"Juke-joint jimmy is the latest thing,

Hes got the sound that everybody digs.

And the joint been jumpin when the band been pumpin

And you know theyre playing crazy gigs.

Well you aint been living till youve seen the living thing,

Top jimmy and his rhythm pigs

Top jimmy cooks, top jimmy swings.

From the desk of Eddie Ozan: Lyrics Book

"So I came up with this song in my head just now... I was thinking back to a time last year when me and my friends back home were hanging out by a river, we were smoking, and a train went by on the other bank. This is just some of my thoughts and what I felt that night in lyrics form. Enjoy:"

The Forever Train

The night is long and dark and plain

All aboard the Forever Train

Clearing the smoke

At the end of a toak,

Watching the sky,

The Planes fly by.

The night is long and dark and plain

All aboard the Forever Train

Comrades in arms

This circle's ours.

We're friends forever

Smoke this together

The night is long and dark and plain

Watch it drive by, car after car

Try to get on, but it's way too far.

Between us, the river.

The cold makes you shiver.

All aboard the Forever Train!

Silence falls after click and clack

We've missed our chance, can't take it back.

The light goes dim, our fire's out.

Back to our lives, we'll figure it out.

The night is long and dark and plain,

All aboard the Forever Train!

"I'm thinking this song should be pretty melancholy. Maybe softer, or slower or something. Whatever it turns out to be, I like it!"

Dear Diary,

Things have been going pretty well lately. Z and I are getting along wonderfully. My party was a few days back, and that went off without a hitch, I've been getting pretty good grades at Claremont, and they are considering moving me to a weekend slot at the Millennium!

I really don't think that things could get any better.

My band's first performance was at our party. It was amazing. I have to start booking shows for us if we are going to get big. I'll start talking to my managers at the Millennium. Maybe I can convince them to have a live music night...

SEACREST OUT!!!

Eddie's Journal

So I've been hearing quite a few rumors going around school. Rumors about me and Z. Well mostly rumors about her. People don't talk too much about me. They never have. They know I'll just ignore them and turn up my music.

Problems start when they start talking about people I care about. I can't stand it! Maybe it's just my inner hero coming out, but when I hear gossip about someone, or an insult behind their back, it drives me nuts. I feel like since their not there to defend themselves, it's my job. But don't get me wrong. I love doing it.

"Zoe's a tramp. She sleeps more nights at guy's houses than she does at school."

"Zoe's only in that band because she slept with Eddie."

"I heard Zoe's just sleeping with Eddie because he bought her a guitar. She's basically just taking money for sex."

I swear to god! If I hear one more bit about Zoe being a tramp, I'm knocking someone flat on their ass. I don't care who it is. I'm putting a stop to this crap!

Eddie's Lyrics Book Entry #2

Notes: Okay, so I am secretly a super hero, and I am the front man for a band that plays in freedom. This had to be done eventually.

The Freedom Fight

Zicke, zacke, zicke, zacke,

Hoi, hoi, hoi!

Zicke, zacke, zicke, zacke,

Hoi, hoi, hoi!*

Crash through the fighting,

'nother one goes down!

Heroes and Villains,

All over this town!

Dodging the lasers and Guns!

Doin' it just for fun!

Fame and glory where we run!

Kickin' and screamin', drag'em off to jail!

This fight is serious**

For the sake of the people, just can't fail!

Can't let down the world!**

Dodging the lasers and guns!

Under the moon and sun,

Keepin' it up 'till we've won!

The League looks on evil with a frown

Not in my city! Not in my Town!

Heeding the call!

Freedom for all!

Springtime to fall!

Freedom for all!

Back to the wall!

Freedom for all!

Having a ball!

Freedom for all!

Heeding the call!

Freedom for all!***

*(Repeat as necessary for build up)

**(Drawn out to complete the rhythm)

Red Hot Hot Rod

She's fast like lightning!

Loud as the thunder!

She's the heart of a hurricane!

My Hot Rod Stallion,

She drives like rain!

She's fast like the wind!

Chaotic as the storm!

She's got a body that's fine!

My Red Hot Lady,

She loves like wine!

Peelin' tires

Flamin' paint

Can't see the roads I'm flyin' down.

Lookin for a party, out on the town.

Girls galore

While on tour

Rock n' roll makin' my way

Fast cars makin' my day

She's fast like lightning!

Loud as the thunder!

She's the heart of a hurricane!

My Hot Rod Stallion,

She drives like rain!

She's fast like the wind!

Chaotic as the storm!

She's got a body that's fine!

My Red Hot Lady,

She loves like wine!

Sweatin' bodies

Tanglin' sheets

Lovin what we're doin' now

Woh! Hang on! Don't know how!

Push n' shove!

Makin' love!

Rock n' Roll my married wife,

Lovin' ladies rest o' my life!

Another Freedom Night

Another Freedom Night!

Here we are when they turn out the light.

Stuck in a city; Wonder if we're alright.

So we stick to our guns,

Have fun, bang the drums.

Go out and fight,

believing @#$% is tight.

Another Freedom Night!

The buildings are high,

reach up, touch the sky.

Dealing with plenty of trouble and strife,

but all in all we lead a good life.

They tell you your wrong, that they'll make it right.

Here in this beacon of justice and might.

Another Freedom Night!

Sound of the bell

We're gonna party and yell

Hang out and drink

'Till we can't even think!

Make it show that we ain't too bright

And give our folks a good fright!

Another Freedom Night!

Anoooooother

Eddie's Lyrics Book

Ode to the Best (Centurion)

Just sit right down and I'll tell you a tale

All about the man who just can't fail

He's strong and bright, handsome and tall

He's just one man, yet he saved us all.

Cen-Tur-I-On!

Cen-Tur-I-On!

Stands like a statue, grey and pale

Watching over the Freedom City Rail

Protecting the City from Freedom Hall

He's just one man, yet he saved us all!

Cen-Tur-I-On!

Cen-Tur-I-On!

Fights the bad guys,

Beats injustice and lies.

His glorious victory is never small

He's just one man, and yet he saved us all

Cen-Tur-I-On!

Cen-Tur-I-On!

Along came Omega, oh yea, we remember.

The battle was hopeless, yet he didn't surrender.

He sure took a beating, but just wouldn't fall.

The man's on a mission to save us all

Cen-Tur-I-On!

Cen-Tur-I-On!

Don't be upset now that he's gone

If there's one thing he taught us, it's how to live on.

The time had come for him to answer the call

A symbol of truth and justice for all!

Cen-Tur-I-On!

Cen-Tur-I-On!

Sing a song to celebrate the best.

Centurion!

He stood head and shoulders well above the rest!

Centurion!

Sing about the man that could lift a ton

Centurion!

Surely a hero if ever there was one!

Centurion!

Strong and bright, handsome and tall!

Protecting the city from Freedom Hall!

His glorious victory is never small!

He sure took a beating, but just wouldn't fall!

He's just one man! Yet he saved us all!

Centurion!

Centurion!

Cen-Tur-I-On!
