Welcome to Claremont Academy

The small bus pulls up to the main double gates and you feel engulfed by the portico-styled gate tower.

On the wall next to the entrance is a plaque that reads: “The Claremont Academy for the Gifted, Scientia Potentia Est†(“Knowledge Is Power†in Latin, the Academy’s motto).

Floyd pulls beyond these gates and stops just passed them. "Okay boys and girls, welcome to Claremont Academy!" he says as he opens the doors. Just outside of the bus a young man and woman obviously falcuty stand waiting to greet you.

The man stepped forward with a smile upon his face. "Welcome to the school, kids. My name is Leeroy Hawke and I'll be escorting you to the orientation portion of your enrollment."

The woman who stood back smiles at the group as they exit the bus and waited for Leeroy to finish his introductions. "And I'm Stephanie Harcourt. I teach advance sciences here at the school and was asked to help with getting you all settled in to the school."

Floyd yells at the two, "They're all yours. Everyone on the list made it to the pick up on time. We have some flying thing up there that needs to be dealt with though or it's going to cause a lot of unwanted attention. Also, this one only seems to speak Hindi. I suggest you set something up for him."

Stephanie smiled at Floyd, "Thanks for the information. I'll make sure to have something in place for the language barrier." She turned to the group and looked them over. "Okay, first thing's first. Who does the flying ship belong to? We can't leave it up above the school so if you could land it in the parking lot, that should do well."

There was a chuckle from Warren as they came closer to the school. He moved to grab his bags before they even got to a stop, and was up and with his bags in hand and over his shoulders for those he couldn't fit between his hands and arms, the second the bus stopped, moving quickly to the front, and checking out the academy's entrance, reading those words and smiling.

He was excited, though he wasn't sure why. He had before then not really felt any inkling of excitement at the prospect of becoming a superhero, but now it slowly came to him that it might be interesting, though he didn't think that such a mobile and unstable life would be something he'd like to do in the long run. This place before him was a place he could learn to master his powers with, so he could defend those he loved, and probably, defend those he cared about.

He smirked a bit, trying to keep his visible excitement to a minimum, and simply watched in silence. He heard the bit about the ship above, and looked up, to see if he saw anything. He didn't, and he sighed, looking back towards the two figures, and then to the entrance of the bus to watch any of his straggling 'peers'.

Without even looking at the two faculty again, he said simply. "I'm Warren McCue."

Darian puts away the game of Tetris. It was a quiet ride or so he thinks. The game was all that mattered to him at that time. He finally snapped out of his trance when he heard the words 'advanced sciences'. We're here, he thinks, just be cool. His mind repeats the last three words over and over as he gets up. He trembles a little bit, looking at the floor as he walks to the front of the bus. Seeing the sign as he exits the bus comforts his fear. He exhales then looks towards the two greeters. After hearing a name from the first person to exit the bus, he pipes up in Hindi, "<>"

Getting off the bus Ionica stared around wide eyed, hiding herself behind Warren, as she just wasn't really that comfortable with this strange place, especially not a place where they already seemed to know her, but she didn't know them. It was creepy.

"Ionica." she then said to introduce herself to the two teachers and the rest of the students. "And I ain't sure I'm su... uhm... yaknow, gonna be here'n'stuff. I think ya made a failure in that list."

Warren simply looked behind himself and the hiding Ionica, and shook his head. He smiled to her, moving his body slightly so she could see him smiling at her, and he gave a simple statement of rhetoric. It was the same reason he had decided to come to the school, after all.

"Lucy, you're wrong. You've got just as much right to come here as the rest of us, and learn both academically, physically..." the boy moved towards the girl's ear, whispering clearly. "and to master your powers. That's why I said what I did. Remember the words? I said? Superhero school. You want to learn to be a superhero, you've got to master your powers, so you make sure you and those around you aren't liabilities. You've got to learn to watch out, because not every villain can be smashed with a fist, as much as we might want it to be that way." He shook his head sadly at the thought. "We're all lost in this world, Ionica, and the only ones who can find ourselves are ourselves. We can accept help from others, but you've got to stop being afraid. Claremont will be a great place to you, I think, even if it's different from your regular school situation."

The boy turned to look back at the teachers, giving a nod, and grabbing Ionica's forearm in a sign of being there to help her.

If he had been less perceptive, he probably wouldn't have realized that look in her eyes as he looked back at her. He felt a twinge, wondering if it was an innocent 'I hate schoolwork because it's boring' question or if she really didn't have any capability.

"It's a real school too, Lucy, but I'll help you, promise." he whispered to her.

"It's not as obvious as super-chick here, at least my garishly coloured stuff is in cloud cover and radar-invisible..." sighed Geckoman, bringing down the Pitchoo towards the parking lot. The dark green flying machine hummed as it flew, ruffling hairs and blowing leaves around as it glided over the group and drifted towards the parking lot, extending metal legs and coming to rest.

"So..." says Chris, looking around and obviously impressed. "Nice place they've got here. Better than my last school."

Gordy looked out the window from one of the hall ways when he saw a bus drive up. And a ship. 'Man, I can't even drive yet.' Usually he would have kept walking to the theater to do some time off vocal practice when a thought struck him. Hadn't they said he might be getting a new roommate? Slipping out the closest exit, and hoping that it wasn't an emergency door, the teen sometimes known as High Note set about crossing over to the new comers.

"Hi Miss Harcourt. Are these the new kids, or a tour group?"

Darian listens to the introductions of the students as they get off the bus. Ionica's dislike of school and learning makes him feel uneasy. He goes to say something, but he stops himself. You're Ananta today, he thinks to himself, You can be Darian later. He nods to reassure himself. About this time, a large green flying ship comes from out of nowhere, and it's remote controlled. Darian makes a mental note to talk shop with the gecko-themed hero-in-training at a later time. By the time all of the visitors are ready, they get a visitor of their own. Taking a quick glance at his watch, Darian wonders when this event will be over. I wonder if this orientation includes a tour of the school, he thinks to himself, maybe I will get to see my future workspace. Looking to the male greeter, he looks confused, putting on his broken English Hindi accent, "We go now?" He then turns to the female greeter, "See many things?"

Lullaby nervously walked behind everybody, painfully aware of her tatty appearance.

"Hello everybody. Please call me Lullaby, as i sing extremely well" she giggled weakly, holding out a hold all with her dancing dress still in.

"Is there any other singers here?" Lullaby asks.

"Are there ever. Hi, I'm Gordy, the resident Broadway kid." Gordy thrusts his hand out, probably a little scary to someone just getting off the bus at a new school. But he couldn't help it. Finally, someone to duet with.

"Hi Miss Harcourt. Are these the new kids, or a tour group?"

Miss Harcourt smiled at Gordy's approach. "Well, they're new students, Gordy. We're taking them in for introductions. Why odn't you join us as I'm sure they'll have plenty of questions for you afterwards. That is, as long as you don'T have any classes right now. Youhave your test later today, don't you? I hope you're prepared for it. Headmaster Summers likes to throw curveballs at the kids."

Without waiting to hear Gordy's reply, Stephanie Harcourt and Leroy Hawke lead the group through the hallways to the Matthias Cooke wing of the school. As the group enters the foyer, they see the large bronze statue of Matthias Cooke in graduation robes holding a diploma. A few students move before the statue, touching it for a few seconds before heading off on their various errands.

Mr. Hawke leads the group passed the statue and up the stairs to one of hte classrooms. "Please be seated. The next section will take some time to get through."

Once everyone had sat down, both Stephanie and Leroy began handing out packets to the students. Each packet had their real name listed upon it. When Stephanie reached Darian she smiled and handed him his packet. "You can drop the pretense now, Mr. Cale."

Not a word came from Warren as he watched his surroundings, following the guides into the building, sitting as instructed, and taking his packet. Without a word, he looked at the packet, and a thought came to him simply.

"Do these people have some sort of lie detector in their brain or something?" his thought came and went.

Darian looks shocked as he blushes. Using the packet he was given to cover everything but his eyes on his shamed expression, he attempts to scrunch himself into the chair he is sitting in. A meek and timid voice comes from behind the sheets of paper, "E-excuse me, sir and madam. I know I have come on the wrong day. Please forgive my exuberance in wanting to know about the school on as many levels as I can. If you wish, I will leave the premises immediately."

Gordy declined to take a packet, seeing as he was already a student at Claremont, and didn't really need to know where the gym was anymore. He ends up sitting just a few seats away from the boy he figures is named Darian as Miss Harcourt called him out on something. One of the other new students looks at him and says something about a false name. "A false name? On the first day? Legendary."

Stephanie looks confused by Darian's words. "I hadn't heard anything about you having another meeting here, but you can take that up with administrations afterwards. There is no need for you to leave, though. Just try not to use any more falsehoods while you're here at the school."

Leroy steps forward now that the packets had all been handed out. "Okay, people. Here's the deal...,"he begins and goes on to explain the various public buildings of the school. He explains that their are both normals and supers as part of the faculty so the people should becareful with the use of their powers. He lays out the general rules to refrain from using your powers outside of the designated areas. [Gordy would find this as being funny as he knows that a most of the students tend to ignore that rule. Of course, they have to keep their power usage to minor actions for fear of retribution from the faculty if they were caught.]

The talk goes on to explain how the students would conduct themselves in the school and to enjoy talking to the other students at the school. Leroy gestures to Gordy, sitting over in a corner, as a good source of information on the school.

"In conclusion, we hope that you enjoy your stay here at the school. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have some classes we have to get to work on. You're free to walk around and get to know the campus a little as well as talk to the other students."

With that said, the two faculty members leave the new students with Gordy.

"Real school sucks," Ionica mutters, after hearing Warren's statement that he'll help her. She pouts and then lets out a sigh. To become a superhero she'll have to go to this... this... school. Poor Ionica's head has started throbbing just thinking about it.

As she then listens to the introduction of the school and where the various facilities are, she does look like she's completely and utterly not understanding what is being said. Which is quite true, since she just didn't have the time to roll everything around inside her mind, trying to really fit it into her own limited mind. But... she nods and gives a smile which doesn't really hide her uncertainty when Leroy finishes, pretending she got it all.

Gordy waits until the teachers are out of ear before coughing lightly to get attention.\

"Ok, so here's the skinny. We all use our powers outside of the designated area's, and as long as no one gets hurt or changed into a rabbit or something, you probably won't get into too much trouble. Detentions aren't that bad, trust me, I end up in at least one a month. I don't pay enough attention to the teachers mostly. I'm sure some of you probably want to get moved in. The dorms are over that way, though if you don't know your room number yet, the admissions office is just down the hall. I actually need to be in the gym soon, so if anyone would like to know where that is, feel free to follow. I have my 'Power Assessment Test' today. Most of you will probably have one at some point."

Most of this is said a little fast, as this is Gordy's first time in front of a crowd in a few months, and his natural hyper activity seems to be running on overtime.

There wasn't a word from Warren as he watched the two members of the facility give their speech, assuming when they said that about powers they would try to keep tabs on what powers each student had, as otherwise they'd not stand a chance of figuring out who did what and even less proving it. He chuckled at it all, and listened to Gordy, his head tilted in the boy's direction as he spoke. His assumption was confirmed with the mention of a 'power assessment test', and he simply watched without much of an expression, that is, until his peer, Geckoman, did what he did. Not only was the way he did it corny, but he also made a stupid assumption. They were not all enrolled in the full sense yet, and none of them knew their room assignments. Taking into account the boy's 'chosen name', and the fact that he was wearing garish gecko colors, as well as had come down from the sky, he decided on a nickname for him.

"We should head to the Admissions office, actually, Pitchoman." The boy chuckled, getting up from the chair he was sitting in, and picking up his bags. He had already memorized the area where the admissions office was, from the map handed out by the facility members. He gave a nod to Lucy and the others, and said "Let's go found out about our accommodations."

Pitchoman? Oh, it is oooooooon. "Pitchoman isn't as inaccurate as you're looking for, it's an abbreviation of Ptychozoon, latin for one species of gecko, but hey, guess you don't think through trying to act the big guy, dontcha? I mean, we can't all be as perfect as you, can we, and know exactly what to do all the time?"

He leaned back against the wall. "That was sarcasm, if you hadn't noticed, and the rough translation for that little spiel, big guy, is simple. Call me Chris, Geckoman, or if you prefer it don't actually speak. Sound fair?"
