Bang Bang Bang IC

Robin was just grateful that her ancient beater of a car was also a stick-shift so she was used to a touchy clutch. Between the car's over-tweaked handling and her own supernatural reflexes, it was relatively easy to keep the vehicle well in front of the gang members. The trick was two fold though, letting them THINK that they might catch her and keeping any of the people out on the streets from getting hit by either her vehicle or the people following her that were far more cavalier about such collateral damage. Despite herself, Robin smiled as she hit the curve hard enough to make the tires squeal and to whip her hair about her face. Sometimes... just sometimes... this hero-thing could be a hell of a lot of fun. She'd been starting to forget that.

Her grey eyed gaze dropped to the clock on the dash, checking that she'd given Kam the lead that he needed before she yanked the wheel hard to the right at the street she'd been circling towards. Robin slammed on the brakes, right in front of the local PD before she flung herself out of the car. Her merry laughter rang out over the rooftops as she left the members of King's gang with the conundrum of trying to recover the car in front of a bunch of officers or accept the loss. A single leap and swing from a lightpost and she was once again sprinting across rooftops. Robin beat the criminals back to their hideout, dropping to sit on the rooftop overlooking the scrap yard. They hadn't come up with a plan to meet up but Robin wanted to make sure that the Red Lynx made it out alright without any trouble.

Red Lynx quickly searched the office then the small kitchenette in the corner to no avail.  The clock was ticking he knew as he vaulted the railing to land in the garage below.  They could just take the drugs but the Royals got them once, they'd do so again, he had to find something.   Taking a deep breath he calmed himself and took in his surroundings.  Chop shop with a veneer of respectability.  Automotive mods, body work, repairs.  That was it.

He bolted for the draped plastic that approximated a paint booth and dug through the supplies coming up victorious.  A bucket of body plaster, powdered, that should do the trick to casual inspection.  With a bound he was up in the office again and set to work packaging scoops fo the material into blocks sealing the last of them as the roar of engines announced the Royals return.  He slid the bucket to a corner tossing a filthy blanket over it and crept to the door.  The gangsters were already at the opening to the garage, he retreated and went to plan M.

A moment after Robin saw the Royals pull up she could make out a dark shape emerge from the small window of the office and pull himself to the roof.  As soon as the music started up again inside Red Lynx leapt from the roof to a car and then out of the lot to a convenient alley, paper bag clutched to his chest full of the Royals former business plan.

Robin let out a little breath. He seemed competent enough but she didn't want to test his suit against a hail of bullets. Standing up, Robin jogged to the roof and dropped down into the alley.

"Just me," she offered, well aware that she didn't want to startle Kam. "Easiest thing to do is burn it. If we were trying for a police case, we'd drop it off at the station but, hate to say it, but there are plenty of corrupt cops that would let it get back out onto the street one way or another. You seem pretty solid on the science part of this stuff. I be t you know how hot a fire has to get to destroy cocaine. No one will notice another fire in a metal bin around here."

Robin waved her hand vaguely towards the scrap yard and the few alleys beyond where the occasional homeless had a small fire burning for warmth or to heat food. Robin was all too familiar with what life on the streets was like in the Fens. Her grey eyed gaze was both sad and far too knowledgeable as she took off the small black and red mask that she'd worn for the car chase.

Kam tensed as she dropped to the ground eyes slicing to her before she spoke but he relaxed at recognizing her.  He had the reflexes but also the control to use them when it was needed and not when it was not.  "Any fire will do."  he replied simply, "Pure it'll vaporize below a hundred degrees."  he shrugged slightly, "Though we'll want much hotter to consume the vapor before it's inhaled."  he added in consideration that just dropping a couple kilos of high purity cocaine in a homeless camp fire would at best result in a large number of coked up residents, at worse cardiac events.

He followed Robin in the direction she indicated and into the encampment his outfit drawing more than a few looks from those huddled in tents and around the few fires burning in the warm spring night.  He pulled a knife from a pouch at his belt and sliced the packages open as they walked letting it flow loosely into the paper bag and rolling the entire pack tight.  Once Robin cleared one of the fires of civilians he tucked the tightly rolled bag into the heart of the fire.  He seemed unphased by the heat though didn't hold his hand in long.  As it withdrew she saw a familiar sparkling glow trail over his gloves.  Much the same had happened to her arm when it had been left too close to the stove when Fred had been making one of her concoctions on it.

Red Lynx watched the bag and its contents go up in smoke and stepped back looking to Robin with a nod, "Well I think that's that solved."  he listened and could hear the tolling of the clock tower in lantern hill.  "I should be going."  he admitted reluctantly, "You were ma-, impressive Nighthawk."  He barely caught himself before calling her magnificent and undermining whatever cred his plan might have earned.  "I hope we might be of aid to one another again."

Robin watched his arm with some interest, one brow quirking. "Your suit's Dakanan," she commented with some interest. "Or at least powered by Daka crystals."

Absently, and unconsciously, Robin reached up to rub where the arm met flesh. She shook it off quickly, running her hand down the prosthetic. It had an air of habit to it, as if she were used to checking that the prosthetic that she couldn't really feel - not the same way that she did with her biological arm - was whole and well. It was a masterful piece of engineering. Robin's coordination was almost what it had been with her real arm and her nerves picked up pressure on it but she felt no pain, nor real sensation. If it was damaged in a fight and she missed it, there was no ache to tell her that the arm was wounded. Her smile was faint but genuine. "Not too bad for a first time in the Fens. Yeah, kid, we can work together again. I'm never all that hard to find in the Fens."

Red Lynx froze for a moment as she noted the manufacture of his suit, barely a pause but a sign her insight had caught him off guard.  "The fabric is of Dakanan manufacture, resistant to blades and bullets, able to absorb and distribute energies."  he explained not really answering her question and barely not lying outright.  "It is exported to select manufacturers."  He added dissembling further, "In this business one must take care I've found."  he glanced down at his gloved hand still glowing a faint crimson where it distributed the energy it had absorbed as light.

As she loosed her arm and examined it he watched carefully though trying not to make it obvious.  He decide not to press her on the story behind that acquisition.  Not while he still must play his own origins close to the vest.  "Until our paths cross then."  he intoned with a hint of formality that he hadn't intended some of his more traditional mannerisms slipping through the dark vigilante performance.  He winced inwardly and bound vertically to swing up onto a low roof and vanished into the night toward the south and his school before he revealed too much to the fascinating defender of the Fens.
