I'm using GM Fiat to deny everyone Notice checks and declare an automatic surprise round for the cop. Once the surprise round resolves, I'll give the Hero Point to whichever PC is most directly and negatively affected by the results.

The police cruiser is doing a full-speed Slam attack against the homeless woman.

Accelerated move is +4 damage base, +5 for Speed 5 = Damage 9, DC24 Toughness save.

The car itself has to save against 1/2 damage, rounded down, or Damage 4, DC19 Toughness.

Police Cruiser's Toughness save: 19. The car passes.

Whoever the car hits is also going to get slammed into (and through) the interior store wall. None of you are strong enough to stop the car in its tracks. The wall is Toughness 3. That's going to be less than anyone's Knockback result, so let's just assume that'll be another DC18 Toughness save.

Police Cruiser's Toughness save: 29.

At this point, the boards blocking the front door and window to the abandoned store are mostly gone, so everyone has freedom of movement.

The car will hit the homeless woman, unless one of the heroes gets her out of the way.

You each have 3 options:

Option 1: Do nothing. 100% safety, at least for this round.

Option 2: Anyone who has the Interpose feat (or who's willing to burn a Hero Point as a reaction to get it for a round) can use it to tackle her out of the way and take the hit themselves. If you do that, then make a DC24 Toughness save for the initial impact, then another DC18 Toughness save for when the car knocks you against the inside of the store wall. It's Toughness 3.

Option 3: You can also try to knock the homeless woman out of the car's path while also moving fast enough to avoid getting hit yourself. This will require a DC20 Reflex save. If you fail the save, then you knock her out of the way, but you get hit. If you fail by 5+, then you and she both get hit.

If multiple people want to try to intervene, then roll Initiative against each other. Highest Init wins and gets to her first. Everyone else who tries still suffers any negative effects.

Mister Strix will try to intervene.

Initiative: 28.

Natural 20. No.

I'll use GM Fiat to give him a Hero Point and force him to re-roll.

Re-roll: 23. Still higher than I'd like, but oh well.

Mister Strix gets a Hero Point.

OK, Arrowhawk is going to aim for option 3.

Diving tackle Reflex save: 1d20+8 9

... Arrowhawk is going to burn a Hero Point!

Attempt to not die: 1d20+8 17

OK, so she successfully manages to push the woman out of the way, but the car hits her.

Hit by a car: 1d20+8 23 OK, so she's presumably Bruised & Injured

Hit into a wall by a car: 1d20+7 10 OK, she fails that one by 8, so is Bruised (and possibly Injured) again, and is Dazed.

Arrownitiative: 1d20+8 17

I don't want the GMPC to steal a hero moment from either of you, so I'm going to disregard him winning Initiative.

Strix's Toughness save (DC24): 25.

Ecal, it didn't actually change the results of your rolls, but you forgot Arrowhawk still has a Bruise from her brawl with Strix.

TK, The Tattered Man doesn't actually have the Interpose feat, so it'll cost him his Hero Point to gain it temporarily for one round.

I'd normally throw the Hero Point from my Fiat to Arrowhawk, since she got beaten up the most, but that would leave her and Tattered Man at 3 and 0, so I'll toss it back to him.

Initiative & Condition Summary

23: Mister Strix (2HP)

17: Arrowhawk (2HP, Bruised 3, Injured 2, Dazed, Prone)

16: The Tattered Man (1HP, Bruised, Injured, Prone)

05: Police Officer

Mister Strix takes a Move Action to leap over to a spot between the car and the other heroes, and a Standard Action to Ready a Charge against the driver.

Opposed Intimidate check: 12. The driver is Shaken for a round. (-2 to all checks, including Attack rolls and Saving Throws.)

OK, you didn't take a -5 penalty on the check, so you Demoralized as a standard action. And you stood up as a free action. Was there a move action you wanted to do, or a full action you wanted to start?

Oops, sorry, my bad. Just double-checked his stats, and the driver is Fearless. The Tattered Man gets a Hero Point for the setback.

Driver

Move Action: Exit the vehicle.

Free Action: Use his Quick Draw feat to draw his baton and pistol.

Standard Action: Shoot The Tattered Man.

He'll Power Attack for -5 Attack / +5 Damage.

Attack check (DC18): 11. Natural "1".

I don't think so. Fiat to re-roll.

Attack check (DC18): 25. Much better.

The Tattered Man needs to make a DC25 Toughness save against lethal damage.

After the final results of the Toughness save, The Tattered Man gets a second Hero Point.

Mister Strix

His Readied action goes off. His Initiative drops down to 5 to match Officer Friendly. He'll go before Friendly next round, since he has the higher Dexterity.

He targets Officer Friendly with a Charge, which gives him +2 Attack and -2 Defense. He'll All-Out Attack for another +2 Attack and -2 Defense.

Attack check (DC18): 29. He clears the minimum by 11, so he gets +5 damage.

Officer Friendly's Toughness save (DC28): 23. He takes an Injury and he's Dazed. I'll use GM Fiat to have him recover from the Dazed condition. Mister Strix gets a Hero Point.

Strix's Defense drops from DC18 to DC14 until his next action.

Initiative & Condition Summary

17: Arrowhawk (2HP, Bruised 3, Injured 2)

Officer Friendly only has Defense 8 (DC18), so that hits.

Toughness save (DC23): 18*.

Officer Friendly fails by 5. He's Dazed for a round, and he takes a 3rd Injury.

Initiative & Condition Summary

17: Arrowhawk (1HP, Bruised x3, Injured x2)

16: The Tattered Man (3HP, Bruised, Injured)

05: Mister Strix (3HP)

05: Officer Friendly (Injured x3, Dazed)

*The linked total says 20 instead of 18 because the die is "1d20+12" when it should be "1d20+10" because he already has 2 Injuries. I screwed up.

Mister Strix

Move Action: None. He's already in melee with Officer Friendly.

Standard Action: Mister Strix will attempt a Disarm maneuver to take Officer Friendly's gun. He'll All-Out Attack for +2 Attack / -2 Defense.

Attack roll (DC18): 15.

He'll burn a Hero Point for a re-roll.

Attack roll (DC18, Re-roll): 23. That "3" becomes a "13".

+2 "damage" from Autofire.

Mister Strix's contested Disarm check: 14. Bloody hell.

Officer Friendly's contested Disarm check: 22.

Strix already used a Hero Point to re-roll the attack, so he can't re-roll the Disarm check.

Officer Friendly keeps a firm grip on his pistol.

Free Action: Strix reconfigures his array. The Mind Control power is now active.

Free Action: Strix uses Extra Effort for a second Standard Action.

Standard Action: Strix uses Mind Control on Officer Friendly.

Officer Friendly's Reflex save (DC18): 14. He doesn't avert his gaze in time.

Strix's Mind Control power check: 13.

Officer Friendly's Will save: 26.

Fortune continues to piss in Strix's breakfast.

Strix will be Fatigued at the start of his next action.

Standard Action: Officer Friendly shoots Strix with the gun they're holding.

He'll Power Attack for -5 Attack / +5 Damage.

Attack roll (DC16): 18.

That's a DC25 Toughness save against lethal damage for Strix.

Strix's Toughness save (DC25): 21.

Strix fails by 4, so he suffers an Injury.

Move Action: Officer Friendly does...something.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO ROLL A NOTICE CHECK.

Initiative & Condition Summary

17: Arrowhawk (2HP, Bruised x3, Injured x2)
