Block Head

Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath he opened his mind to the universe, crude matter and energy fading away leaving him in the void  bereft of everything but the ticking of cosmic clockwork as reality carried on around him, it was easy to loose himself in the vastness of it all, he had spent nearly a week comatose in this same void as figments of his own psyche floated around him like neon signs, sometimes equations, othertimes child like drawings of pivotal events in his own life, those that were, those that were happening and those that were to be.

He was still not accustomed to this awareness he'd developed, so his mind filtered it out untill he focused on accessing it, his was a curious mind, bursting with questions, theories and speculation so it made narrowing down the torrents of information difficult as his brain attempted to absorb it like a sponge.

Regardless the universe was usually kind and he always came across something of great personal importance to himself, wether it was anything useful in this current situation he couldn't say, nor that if it were he would understand the answer provided, but it was worth a try.

Impact, Where is impact?
Where is Blockhead?

he chanted to himself to try and improve his focus on these specific issues and to some degree it helped, possible timelines, probabilities and other unfathomable things relating to them both raced passed his head.

Where are they now, Where are they now?

And so the Universe, in its universal wisdom and universal knowledge answered in a most universal way...

The universe is infinite!

There are infinite Blockheads!

There are infinite Impacts!

The infinite lives within the infinite!

And the infinite is where the infinite is!

Finite is it is not!

And neither is it finite!

For their nature is infinite!

And infinite is their nature!

With such elegant and redundant advice the universe finished its wise words. Although, if one strained into the madness, into the chaotic pipes that fluted around the bubbling chaos and the cavorting idiot gods that danced to the music, one might consider it ended with a "wibble wibble, hahahaha!" mocking laugh.

"quite right, quite right." he mumbled to himself and after a brief moment to rub his brow and clear out the feeling of fuzziness in his brain and vision he stood back up.

"a small gambit of mine to discern their location has not panned out as i would have hoped." he explained off handedly as he turned back around "it would be best if we begin to scout the site for impacts lair immediately,  whilst the element of suprise is still ours, it may be worth engaging your particle field incase she discovers us before we discover her and blockhead"

"i Will take the skies and look for signs of movement from that vantage point, if you see anything please gesture towards me, i will keep you in my view as we go around the site."

"God's speed." and with that he took off like a rocket through the first open window he came across

And so, through the skies the good Doctor went. From a superior vantage he could spy the entire building site. The central building, that Block Head had been building, was certainly looking bigger. Like a virus, it was spreading out through the entire site.

And there...and there...

The central building was active. Moving, rearranging itself. It was growing taller. It was eating the surrounding buildings to grow bigger. To parasitically consume them.

And deep within the Central Building, through half build ceilings, Dr Deoxy could spy Block Head, constructing and deconstructing at full speed, shifting heavy masonry and building materials with full concentration.... and often going to and from the basement.

But near the entrance, Dr Deoxy could spy a large woman, strong and tall, groaning. She seemed to be unconscious, just inside the building's main entrance hall....and holding a mighty sledgehammer.

A bystander, that complicated things immensely, Blockhead had many faces and he was quite sure that his vision and other senses with radial by nature, attempting to stealthy remove the woman would likely alert blockhead either from the displacement of her sledge hammer or some other such disturbance.

He decided that he would still be best to try to remove her from harms way before attempting anything else, even remotely relating to blockhead; instead signalling for Mannequin to come to his location and reaching out with his hand, fingers bristling with minute kinetic energy projectors with which to manipulate and handle the woman, forced her hands to grasp tightly at the sledge and raising her just enough off the floor to avoid any scuffing sounds from rubbing against it attempt to move her quickly and quietly from the building

Sighing over Deoxy just shouting his plan and leaving to it without seeing if he wanted to try something Mannequin pondered. It didn't make much sense for them to be here since they know we know this place but...Block head is a building addict and needs to build. So maybe they are here. Turning to Mr.Brick Mannequin knew he wasnt acting very much like a hero threatening people and should probably do what his dad always did and be the better man.

Shifting weight from one foot to the other

"I...am sorry. At times its hard to be a hero when you know whats at stake if you fail. I don't have the right to barge in here and threaten you and for that I am sorry but I will implore you. Any information you have can and will save lives. I don't carry around millions like Dr.Deoxy nor do I want to make a deal but if an event does happen this might be traced back to you regardless of what you actually did. I'm not trying to blackmail you here. But I can't stop the public if they reach those conclusions themselves."

Mr. Brick looked rather taken aback when Mannequin appeared to apologise. "I..uh...yeah, sure" he muttered. "Look, I don't know much. Block Head turned up here a few days ago and started building like he was possessed, or something. He looked...disturbed. And frankly the central building is growing so fast I am getting worried. I think...I think its alive!" he explained, gulping.

They were interrupted by a scream from outside.

Dr Deoxy's telekentic power was tugging at Hattie, and normally of course he would have easily have the force to lift her up.

But not when half her body was welded to the building itself. Pulling her out was just going to rip her in two.

"Let go! Let go!" she groaned.

Doctor Deoxy felt his stomach turn as he became aware of what was happening, the mere idea of it made him feel utterly repulsed even to look at it made what passed for his blood now, boil with rage, some might've called him a hypocrit for his island base was made from similar materials, however he had not made it from beings.

He'd immediately relinquished his grasp on the woman when it became apparently she was bound up in the buildings molecules to some degree and simply hovered there over the hole he'd been looking down through, shaking imperceivably with rage at the abhorrent practises he was bearing witness too.

"Impact!" He bellowed at the top of his lungs, his throat morphing slightly and adding an ominous resonance to his voice

 "What have you done!?"

A deep resonance came from the building, a frequency so low one could barely hear it.

"Is it not marvellous? Block Head has created this building using metamasonry, not unlike his own body! And I have been able to fuse my psyche with it!" came the voice. It was of course quite different from Imprint's, but it was hers still the same. She had literally imprinted herself into the floor, walls, and ceiling of the self assembling building.

"That woman got in the way. Very annoying. I'll show her. She can become part of the furniture!"

Hearing the voice echoing around him Mannequin could only think..."This woman, is by far the most insane person I have ever met. If I don't put her down the next "master plan" of hers might be to turn the rivers into chocolate..." Turning towards the sleazy salesman. "You need to get out of here while you can. Deoxy and I will handle this but it will be easier to not have to worry about her using more people against us." Without waiting for a response he used his Magnetic Drift and sped towards the monster building stopping next to Deoxy. "Imprint, this is madness! What do you hope to achieve by becoming part of a building? Give up this pointless agenda and surrender."

"Sure, sure!" said the Sweaty Mr. Brick, holding his hands out expansively and looking evasive. "I am a businessman! We can do business!" he said, as if this vapid statement was anything but totally redundant and without meaning.

"Power!" grumbled the building. Or imprint. Or both. Or...well, it was clearly complicated. But the answer seemed straightforward enough.

"I can imprint my psyche into the metamorphic masonry! Think of the applications! Endless viral self building cities, that transform according to my...er....people's will! What could not be accomplished! Think of it! The housing shortages gone! Self assembling rooms! Can you imagine a building that transforms itself according to me...er...your...whim?" she asked.

"Just get me out of here! HELP!" yelled the woman half melded to the building. Poor old Hettie the Hammer, used to crushing kneecaps in the service of Mr. Brick, was not best pleased with the building crushing her rather than the usual state of affairs which was quite the opposite.

Doctor deoxy remained silent, there was clearly no point in exchanging words with this woman any longer, that she could be so callous to another living breathing human being made her beyond any attempts at talking down, she was in many ways, like himself, caught up in the dopamine rush of transhuman nature.

that said it made their course of action clear, wordlessly his form transmuted into radiant energies of a metabolic nature and from his blazing eyes came beams of kinetic force that crashed into the meta-masonry below him and sheered into the ground as he began the slow and steady process of extracting the hammer wielding lady from the ground around her.

As Doctor Deoxy cut away with his eyes, he could feel a rumbling around him.

Crash! Bang! Whallop!

Falling Masonry fell through him. One might, if so inclined, have thought that it was simply a matter of falling masonry in an unstable building. But it had the feeling of intent. Of malign will.

Imprint was fighting back!

"Oh no you don't! Stop interfering!" she demanded, the voice resonating through the building. "Hmmm....you have turned into some energy being, have you!" she mumbled, irritated, frustrated, but full of cunning.

"Don't think you can fight me, here, this is my territory! Or more precisely, the territory is me!"

And with that the building started rumbling, emitting a horrible ultrasonic scream that would rattle any ear...

"Deoxy, I'll see if I can occupy her while you rescue the hostage!" Mannequin shouted trying to be heard over the ultrasonic scream. "She may be fused with the building but I bet there is still some of her exposed inside..." With that he activated his Magnetic Drift and zoomed into the building.

While he didn't like the idea of going into a certain deathtrap he didn't see much other choice. If Imprint was allowed to continue she might just take over the city turning it into her. Thousands would be displaced or worse, harmed. Besides she made this personal with stealing his tech and abusing it to no end.

As Mannequin drifted in he took the tail end of the ultrasonic vibrations - enough to be unpalatable but not horrendous. Instead, the sonic waves congealed into the deep vibrations in the audible range. Imprint was once again speaking, via the rumbling resonances of the building itself.

"You are stopping progress, gentlemen! Pro-gress! Can't you see how self-assembling buildings under my command can solve the worlds housing problems! And I can dictate, er, conduct the whole process! Entire cities with full surveillance and control! No more crime! No more homelessness! No more undesirables!" she declared lost in the rapture of such a splendid vision of the future.

Doctor Deoxy could feel his contempt rising as impact ranted and raved about all the good her creations could do in her mind, things she'd failed to even understand, she'd build a better world on a foundation of corpses, peace through tyranny was no peace at all, less so than even the peace through deterrence that gripped the earth today.

He swallowed his feelings however, he had to get the lady free and clear of the area, then he could be as angry as he liked

and he was extremely angry.

the beams of energy emitting from his eyes shifted to a brighter intensity as his metallic body shimmered briefly as his projectors shifted to emit a forcefield as he carved away the less of the anchoring hetty was bound by and at last pulled her free of the foundations of the buildings and send her gently drifting away.

Hattie fell into Doctor Deoxy's arms. She was bruised badly, but not dead - nor close to it. She was a strong, robust woman, over six feet of thick bone and thicker muscle, and it would take more than being fused with a self assembling meta-ceramic house to break her.

Yes, her bones were not broken, as far as Doctor Deoxy could see.

"Oh God thank you!" gasped Hattie, clutching the Doctor with strong hands. And, if one was to be astute about the matter, a little bit of love was in the air.

"Never mind that little rat!" vibrated the building. "Take a listen to this!"

And once again, a horrible high pitched scream went through the air, playing havoc on any inner ear that might be listening.

Hattie decided to take the full blast, and promptly leaned forward and vomited over Doctor Deoxy.

"Errr....sorry!" she mumbled.

Thankful for his lack of an inner ear Mannequin continued to ignore the loud screeching as he went further into the monstrous building looking for where Imprint was melded in and more importantly what had become of Blockhead. While Blockhead did willingly go and probably thinks that this whole endeavor was a good idea he cant be held at fault here. He was oh so naive when it came to anything besides building that he was still very much a hostage of this crazed woman turned building.

Doctor deoxy's face hid the intense screaming that was going on inside his head as he found himself bathed in the vile bile of the woman but he understood of course, he'd been subjected to the same ultra sonic scream twice now so he held himself in check.

"I'm going to get you out of here madam, please don't panic." he stated calmly and diplomatically to her whilst subtly as possible avoiding eye contact "we will be going quite fast, but i assure you it will be safe." grasping her in the invisable force of his kinetic projectors he took to the air.

"Mannaquin, i've rescued the hostage and will return shortly. be safe." and with that he rocketed away at full speed with lady in tow behind him as he escorted her some distance away and gently lowered her down onto the streets "you are safe now, please contact the police and inform them of the situation developing at the work sight i must go do something before i return to the scene." he explained as he then carried on his way.

Now safely high and far enough away  from them to be heard he let loose the inhuman scream of distress and disgust at his situation even as he careened down and into the ocean below, slamming himself bodily into floor and squirming in an attempt to scrub himself clean on whatever he could around him.

"Gluhghmmh..." mumbled Hattie as her hero abandoned her to her vomitous misery. The ocean however, did its job by and large. Physically, the pollution on his body had gone...but psychologically? Well, that might be another matter!

Meanwhile...

As Mannequin boldly entered the house, he saw Block Head standing over the largely (but not completely) fused body of Imprint, only her face and the bulges of her body visible in the concrete floor. Her eyes flicked over to him, angry.

"Bother!" she muttered.

To punctuate her vexation, there was a deep rumbling in the house, and the ceiling and walls cracked. In a blistering display of force, Mannequin was subjected to a barrage of falling and propelled bricks, masonry, and mortar...

While he was able to fly, graceful he was not. A point only further proved by the mass of rubble smacking into him. While the rubble didnt do any lasting harm it still reminded him that this was a living deathtrap and he needed to be on the top of his game.

Imprint looked like a fun day at a beach with her body buried in sand except instead of sand it was Mannequin's own material and Mannequin wouldn't call this a fun day by any means.

"Imprint, this has gone on long enough! You stole my patent, kidnapped a confused sentient AI, and now you just threw rocks at me like some kind of playground bully. You clearly are a terrible scientist and should feel bad. I am taking you in so your lunacy wont harm anyone else."

With that Mannequin focused his magnetic pull on the wall Imprint was fused with commanding it to move. He could feel the small bolts and nails inside the wall move ever so slightly but the wall remained imposing. Risking a wicked headache Mannequin put all of his power towards the wall. He had simply had enough idiocy today and refused to let a simple wall defeat him. After a few crunches and grinding sounds the wall gave and with it Imprint. Not waiting around to see if BlockHead would try to save his "Mother" he took to the air and quickly escorted the still encased Imprint out the building.

The masonry rumbled deeply as Mannequin tore Imprint (and half the wall she was embedded in) out of the building. It was no mean feat, trying to manipulate the spartan metal in the building to come together as a web and take the strange masonry with it - but it was done.

"Very clever! Or is that foolish!" grunted Imprint, still embedded in the wall. "Bah!" she commented, annoyed at her situation.

Block Head, for his part, took up a huge peice of masonry, and hurled it with great speed and ferocity right into Mannequin...

Nathaniel thought himself a reasonable man, many would disagree but he held that despite his somewhat asocial nature he had fairly reasonable demands on people who wished to interact with him, that they were polite and treated him with dignity was at the foremost of those along with not wasting his time he wouldn't have denied that he was capable of being unreasonable of course.

if you were to ask him how he felt at this moment he'd probably have told you that he was feeling extremely unreasonable, if he were capable of forming coherent sentences, he was for the most part however occupied with screaming in disgusted rage....or enraged disgust as he furiously scrubbed himself in the saline ocean waters now more of a vestigial ritual, a compulsion where the phantom of the disgusting microbes had been.

It took him a few moments more of screaming and scrubbing before he felt calm enough to focus the remaining rage and focus it he did, his techno-organic body responding and venting excess heat and lactic acid of his anaerobic efforts underwater through formed vents, dirtying and boiling the water around him as he rose once more into the air and streaked off like a steaming silver and violet comet towards Imprint, whom was now the focus of his misplaced anger as his tireless lungs turned a scream into a roar.

The huge chunk of masonry, hurled with most impressive strength, whizzed past Mannequin who elegantly moved to the side. It flew perilously close to Imprint, still encased in the magnificent metamorphic masonry herself.

"Luddites!" she cursed to Mannequin, the Doctor, and the Universe. It was clearly most irritating to her that scientific progress - at least by her perception of the matter - was being so ignorantly impeded.

To combat this impingement, she vibrated at high speed within her masonry caccon, and in response, a cloud of ultra-fine particles of dust flew towards Mannequin, intent on abrasing his flesh and eyes...

Link to comment

As the cloud of dust harmlessly went past Mannequin he could swear he saw Imprints face turn from a smirk to a look of surprise, to a look of defeat all in the span of 3 seconds. Dusting off himself he continued escorting the imprisoned Imprint out the building and into the sky.

"For a supposed genius I'm not really sure what you were trying to accomplish there... I doubt you'd be able to break out of your self made prison since you couldn't even escape my grasp beforehand.  Was...were you actually trying to attack me with dust? What a fool you are. What could dust possibly do here?"

Looking to the sky he saw the silver blur that was Deoxy. "Doctor, I've managed to capture Imprint. Can you try to distract Blockhead from doing anything nasty while I bring her in?"
