  1. MarsTech Campus Emerald City, Oregon.Wednesday, March 10th, 20219:15 AM Sydney Alexander is Mars Tech's Chief Operations Officer. Second in command as far as the administrative day to day was concerned it came as a shock when she never made it home after clocking in for the night. That is to say, she never made it out of the building either as her vehicle could still be found in the parking garage. Then came the real commotion. First, MarsTech announced not only a reward for anyone who had information relevant to the safe return and recovery of the missing executive. But, also that any Ultio suit rentals for the party who found her would be half off for a year. But MarsTech was not the only company to offer a bounty on Sydney Alexander's safe return. In fact, Majestic Industries and Kesscorp both offered competing bids for information on her recovery. Exclusive information that was. Almost as if it wasn't a living person they were competing for the technology giants were attempting to claim their own stake in Ms Alexander's safety. It seemed the only person(s) not weighing in on the missing Ms. Alexander was whoever kidnapped her. If this was in fact a kidnapping. The multinational business empire came to a screeching halt seemingly dedicated with one goal in mind. Maximillian Mars was nowhere to be found. Leaving the public perception that Grace Graves, one of Maximillian Mars' personal assistants, had taken over Sydney Alexander's duties in the interim. Going so far as to personally answer police, reporters, and would be heroes questions. And yet, not a single answer had yet to have turned up as to where Sydney Alexander had disappeared to. The when and the how also lingering in the air.
  2. GM 11:30 PM February 12th, 2021 Jadetown, Emerald City The Night of the Chinese New Year Celebrations It was an evening of celebration in the streets of Jadetown, and on this evening, even the Takazumi-gumi seemed to be at ease, content to simply celebrate. It was the year of the metal ox. Some saw that as a sign, the year that the Steel Shogun would rise even further. Others simply enjoyed the festivities. Anyone and everyone in the city were welcome, at least for now. Perhaps the party, a smell of the supernatural at play, or something else entirely, would bring heroes to this night. While a parade made their way through the streets, a group of Takazumi-gumi that were defintely not in a party mood, led by a young man, led a young woman through the streets of the city...
  3. GM 3PM, August 25th, 2020 University Hill, Emerald City Naomi might not have expected that Elliot would ever take her up on the offer to talk or help with the issues at his school, but months after their meeting, she had received a simple text message: Things are getting worse at the school. I need your help. Meet me at the Starbucks to the South of the University Hill Campus. The Starbucks was busy. People talking all around. A lot of people that Naomi recognized from the university, some that she shared classes with, others that she had only see. It wasn't completely crowded, but there was enough people around that it would be difficult for anyone to cause a scene of any kind without being noticed. She would soon see Elliot, sitting by himself by a table, fending off a guy that asked if he could sit.
  4. GM The Riverfront, Emerald City, Oregon Saturday, April 25, 2020 00:04:00 AM It was the end of the line as far as you could tell. Months before the case had entered your radar, the demand for cadavers in the market has risen unlike anything in recent memory. For sure, whoever had began buying had been smart about it. The demand had been incremental, months in the making, and there had been multiple buyers who bought at different times and from different suppliers across the city for different reasons. Funeral homes, prisons, hospitals, cemeteries, even some cadavers from mainland China. The buyers sold some of the cadavers up the chain. Then some of those cadavers would get resold further higher and higher until all of it led to this unremarkable warehouse owned by a shell company in the middle of the Riverfront. Unregulated by federal or state laws, the sale of cadavers is not illegal per-se but the interconnected buying and selling had caught your attention. And for obvious reasons, anyone that would go to those lengths to hide something was up to no good. Illegal and immoral in the eyes of the law. That's where you come in, perched on the rooftop of a nearby warehouse as below you an eighteen-wheeler truck and the shipping container on its cargo bed pulls the warehouse space. It backs up into a closed shutter gate and a burly man in a flannel shirt gets out of the truck's passenger seat. He says something to the driver and, dragging on his cigarette, fishes out a key from his jeans pocket. Then he strolls towards the back of the truck. Besides the nighttime activity below you, the warehouse and the surrounding area is devoid of life. Nothing stirs. You've seen rats and stray cats on your way but none around the warehouse. Your stakeout of the warehouse itself has not produced any sign of activity from inside the warehouse. It is dark there and only the streetlamps from outside serve as illumination for the warehouse interior. Finally, the man unlocks the shutter gate and it slides up with a clatter all too loud in the night's dead silence. Then the man disappears inside the warehouse, the beam of a flashlight to guide him. Outside, the driver waits idly, scrolling on his phone. The screen illuminates his face in a blue light. What do you do?
  5. OOC for this. @EternalPhoenix feel free to make any description of the Starbucks that you want.
  6. GM 2PM, March 21st, 2020 The Riverfront, Emerald City Since the meeting of heroes at the noodle place in Betlehem Heights, Waverider and the mighty Metanaut had volounteered to try and get their hands on an Ultio Suit system. Find a rich kid with a suit, convince him to hand it over, work their charms a little bit maybe, or, well, however else they could do it. A week or so later, they had found someone. A guy named Elliot Elijah Elder, his dad was rich, his mom was on the city council, he attended a fancy private school, so of course his mom had bought him an Ultio Suit. He hadn't really used it a lot, but Metanaut had caught him going into the suit to catch a purse snatcher, then out again, even if he had seemed kind of bored. Now, Elliot was sitting by the waterfront at the Riverfront, just looking out at the water. All alone, away from his school. Probably the best time to strike up a friendly or not so friendly conversation.
  7. Rebellion Power Level: 14 (built as PL 10; 213/215PP) Unspent Power Points: 2 Trade-Offs: (Baton Throw) +4 Attack / -4 DC, (Baton Ricochet) +2 Attack / -2 DC, +2 Defense / -2 Toughness In Brief: Former villain in training uses the power of the Terror to seek the truth. Catchphrase: Boo! Theme: What's Up Danger - Blackway & Black Caviar / Untravelled Road -Thousand Foot Krutch Alternate Identity: Elliot Elijah Elder (Secret), Bronze Hornet (Secret, Super Villain Identity) Birthplace: Emerald City. Residence: Elder Mansion, Northern Shore, Emerald City / Elysium Academy Dorms. Base of Operations: Emerald City. Occupation: Student. Affiliations: None. Family: Emma Emmelie Elder (Mother, Emerald City politician, nee Kessler), Everett Eaton Elder (Father, officially idle rich, unofficially known as "The Royal" super villain saboteur and spy), Elaine Emma Elder (Older sister, College Student), Elaine Kessler (Aunt on mother's side, deceased). Description: Age: 17 (DoB: 2002 January 1st). Gender: Male. Ethnicity: Caucasian. Height: 6'1'' Weight: 180 lbs. Eyes: Hazel Hair: Blonde Elliot is a young man with an athletic build, leaning on the slightly muscular side. While by no means bad looking, he is not particularly remarkable, looking very much like the All-American boy stereotype. He has short blonde hair and hazel eyes, usually keeping himself clean shaved. He carries himself with a certain pride and arrogance. He will usually wear clothing in lighter colors, or the Elysium Academy colors. As Bronze Hornet, Elliot wears a predominantly dark grey uniform. Simple pants, heavy black boots. A heavy dark grey jacket with a large bronze hornet icon on the back, and black gloves. His face is hidden by a black full face mask, with a smaller hornet logo, similar to the one on his back, on his face, with its wings over his eyes. As Rebellion, Elliot appears pitch black, with large white eyes. He does not appear to have a nose or mouth, though it is there. While he will wear whatever clothes is at hand at the time, his "official" look consist of a pair of dark blue pants and a blue jacket with nothing underneath, showing only pitch black, and a blue cap on the top of his head to complete the look. He is somewhat shifty, keeping to dark places or out of sight if possible. History: Elliot Elijah Elder lived a charmed life. His mother was Emma Elder, a local Emerald City politician of some renown, and her career had left her family with a mansion, servants and more than enough money to get whatever they wanted. His father, Everett Elder, came from a rich family, and he spent much of his time either supporting his wife's campaigns, golfing or travelling, often leaving Elliot at home with his older sister Elaine and his aunt Elaine. Elliot grew particularly close to both, while never knowing much of his parents. Elliot was smart, and he knew it, which led him to develop an arrogant streak, which only his sister and uncle Jacob seemed to disapprove of. He had few friends, and never seemed to really push himself in any way. After all, why should he? He was smart, and he was rich. To Emma Elder, Elliot was almost the perfect son, except for one sore point: He was miserable at sports or other physical departments, and Emma needed to have the perfect All-American son to further perfect her image. Over the objection of his father, Elliot was sent to the prestigious Elysium Academy, where he could make something of himself. That was the official reason, at least. In truth, Emma was disappointed in her son, for reasons he had never been told. Everett Elder did not really come from a rich family. He did not just support his wife's campaigns or go golfing. No, he was working working for Brande Management. A super human with the ability to change his appearance, he were one of many agents performing industrial espionage and sabotage for Brande Management, all to increase their stock. Everett wanted out, but he was in too deep, and so, he continued. And Elaine had inherited their powers, perhaps to an even greater degree. Elliot, however, had not. He was a disappointment. Emma needed some way to use him, and Elysium Academy would be how. At the Elysium Academy, Elliot was pushed for the first time that he could remember. With a particular focus on his physical prowess, as per his mother's requests, and Elliot's arrogance grew once again. He was now both a physical and mental threat to those around him, a fact that he reveled in. He didn't care that Elysium Academy was grooming him to be a super villain. He would take what he learned and use it for his own, once he left the Academy. Fine, they wanted to underestimate him. Elliot would deal with them all when the time came. He was given the code name the Bronze Hornet, which he did not particularly like, but he did not care. He could make a proper name for himself at a later point. Unknown to Elliot, his mother had made a fatal mistake. Emma had been in the pocket of the Chamber for a long time. They boosted her political career, she looked in the wrong way or campaigned for what they wanted. Now she made the mistake of actually having law enforcement investigate a business that was closely related to the Chamber. Not something big, not something famous. A money laundering front, a car wash, of all places. Still, she had to be punished. Soon after, during a break at Elysium Academy, Elliot's aunt Elaine went missing. At the same time, the mysterious villain known as the Terror reappeared to stalk the city, killing many along the way. When Elliot was alone at home, with only servants for company in their mansion, the Terror appeared, smashing through the window. As the Terror stood before Elliot, he learned what fear was. And as it collapsed, the fear spirit left the shriveled corpse of his aunt Elaine behind. That could have been the end of it. A terrified youth, a dead aunt. The start of a rebellion by a politician put back in place, and everything could continue as it had. The fear spirit that was the Terror had other plans. Elliot does not know why it did, as it did. From he learned next, it had always returned to the Chamber when its job was done, and its host was left as nothing. Maybe it was its own act of rebellion. Maybe it wanted to punish its creators. Maybe it just wanted Elliot to feel fear. Maybe the last of Elaine's soul influenced it. Or maybe it simply wanted to create another vessel to spread fear throughout Emerald City. Whatever the cause, the fear spirit possessed Elliot for the briefest of moments. And in those briefest of moments, Elliot knew fear and he knew truth. Through the distorted point of view of the artificial fear spirit, Elliot caught glimpses and visions of its creation. Of the things it had seen. Of the things it had done. A weapon, created by a secret conspiracy that ruled the city from behind the shadows. Used to eliminate their enemies. Used to create chaos and fear. He caught glimpses of their plans. About the enormity of everything. Distorted by the fear spirit, distorted by his own fear, distorted by the lingering remnants of Elaine's soul. They were everywhere. They were everything. Elysium Academy was worse than he thought. His mother was in their pocket. And no one knew. It lasted only moments, then the fear spirit was gone, leaving Elliot a changed man. The fear and the truth had changed him. His arrogance gone, he rebuilt his sense of self through sheer willpower. Something had to change, the city had to change. The conspiracy had to be exposed. And Elliot would do it. In the weeks that followed, Elliot did his best to keep up his facade at Elysium Academy, acting as arrogant as ever. Even as he began to become stronger, faster and tougher, displaying strength unlike ever before, he was demoted to Omega Squad, the so-called "Jobber Squad." Probably another punishment for his mother. Elliot didn't care. Being in Omega Squad meant he didn't really have to try hard to keep up his facade anymore. They were meant as distractions, dumb muscle, nothing more. The perfect guise for something much more. He spent all the free time he could researching and planning, until finally venturing out into the night to gather rumors. As he put on a mask to hide his identity, something even stranger happened. While Elliot's physical abilities had grown since his possession, that was only part of his mutation. He found that when he wore a mask, he could morph his appearance, he could blend in with his surroundings, and, perhaps even stranger still, he seemed to posses his own version of the Terror's ability to instill great fear in its targets. His mission was clear. He would use his powers to uncover the truth. By day, he is Elliot Elijah Elder, an once almost-remarkable student at Elysium Academy, now relegated to being used as cannon fodder. By night, he is Rebellion, a fearsome hero that prowls the streets of Emerald City for the truth. Personality & Motivation: Elliot can at first appear arrogant, but humbled by his demotion to Omega Squad, and this is the personality that he tries to project to the outside world. He is smarter, faster, stronger and better than others, so why shouldn't he be? What better way to hide his goals from the world around him than behind a facade that can easily push others away? In truth, Elliot is greatly changed from his previous ways. He has become more withdrawn, though it is noticed by few. He rarely opens up to others around him, having become almost entirely focused on his goal of discovering the truth about the conspiracy behind Emerald City, and how to dismantle it. He keeps notes in secret places, he finds connections even where there aren't any. As Rebellion, Elliot lets his obsession run wild. He takes notes of anything he finds relevant in a small notebook, he tends to stick to the shadows. He can be terrifying or creepy, depending on the subject at hand. He is entirely fearless, which can lead him to taking great risks with little thought for the consequences to himself. Yet, for all of his obsession with his quest for the truth, he is also slowly discovering a more heroic side to himself. It feels good to be good, and to protect others for the sake of it, not just to spite the conspiracy behind Emerald City. Powers & Tactics: Rebellion is a master of infiltration. He will usually morph into unassuming shapes, such as janitors or cleaning crew, anything that will usually not get noticed, to make his way into a building, changing his appearance as necessary, blending in with his surroundings or moving along walls and ceilings. When pressuring a target for information, he will make full use of his ability to cause fear in others. In combat, Rebellion fights using a pair of batons. He is proficient in using them both up close and at a range, being able to throw them with enough skill to make them quickly return to himself, ready for another strike. He uses his strength and agility, rarely standing still, disappearing and reappearing to strike again. He will freely use his ability to cause fear in others to terrify and disable his opponents. Being rather pragmatic, Rebellion will use just about anything around him to his advantage. With great strength, the ability to perform incredible leaps and cling to wall, Rebellion is highly mobile, able to quickly travel across the length of Emerald City. In his identity as the Bronze Hornet, Elliot eschews the use of most of his powers, only utilizing his enhanced strength, agility and stamina. He does not cling to walls, he does not scare heroes and civilians, change his appearance or use batons to fight, instead preferring simple hand-to-hand combat. Power Descriptions: Elliot's powers are a strange mixture of mutation caused by being possessed by the Terror fear spirit, and latent inherited powers being triggered by said possession. Due to psychological issues related to said possession, Elliot is only able to access certain powers without wearing a mask, essentially only those that enhance his physical and mental abilities. He has become stronger, faster and tougher than he ever were before. He is smarter, and when he wants to, posses a strange, almost unnatural charisma. When he wears a mask, Elliot's has access to further powers. He is now able to cling to walls and perform amazing leaps, while being able to slow his falls. While they appear to be physical enhancements, these abilities are psionic in nature, being a very limited degree of personal tactile telekinesis. Unknown to any but himself, Elliot has inherited his father's ability to change his features, creating instant disguises or blending in with his surroundings, making him almost invisible. His most common use of this power is to create his Rebellion disguise, or for infiltration. Perhaps the most horrifying part of Elliot's powers is his ability to create fear in those around him. This psionic ability appears to be a variation of the Terror's "Aura of Terror" ability, though if Elliot's wishes to create paralyzing fear, he requires great focus. In the time since his transformation, Elliot's senses have started to expand. With both he and the Terror being tied to Emerald City, he has begun to notice patterns and clues in the city itself. Seemingly unconnected sights and events can lead him to strange, new discoveries during his investigations, as he follows the grid of the city to the find the monsters that lurk beneath. Finally, Elliot uses a pair of batons for physical combat. Through training, he has learned to throw them with enough precision that they return to himself when thrown, and to perform powerful blows, strong enough to stun an enemy. Complications: CITY/GRID: Rebellion's expanded awareness of grids and patterns seems to be tied to Emerald City, and to a lesser degree to other metropolitan areas. If Rebellion attempts to use his See the Patterns power outside a metropolitan area, the GM might deny the request, as Rebellion's expanded awareness is simply unable to connect the dots, giving Rebellion a Hero Point instead. If the use of the power has been denied once in an area, repeated uses in the same or a similar area cannot be used to gain additional Hero Points. FEARLESS/FOOL: As Rebellion, Elliot feels no fear. While this is a great advantage, it is also a disadvantage, as he has been known to take actions that were extremely dangerous, if not outright suicidal. A GM may award Rebellion a Hero Point whenever he is in a situation where his fearlessness leads him into trouble. HE_KNOWS/TOO_MUCH: Rebellion's knowledge of Emerald City is still growing, as he works to uncover secrets and conspiracies, but there are those that do not take kindly to his meddling. A GM may award Rebellion a Hero Point if the current situation is made worse by Kid Terror being hunted by those working for the secrets that he has uncovered in Emerald City. HERO/VILLAIN: Rebellion is new to the whole hero thing. While he tries to shed the mindset instilled by Elysium Academy, he still has some problems with doing the right thing. What do he choose, to save one life or many? Do abandon his mission and lose a lead to save a life from a random mugging? He is also rather pragmatic and ruthless. A GM may award Rebellion a Hero Point when he is in a situation where he is tested in following his quest for the truth or performing a heroic action. KID/TERROR: Elliot subconsciously represses his powers, unless he is wearing a mask. Once he puts on a mask, he can easily summon the full extent of his powers, but without, he cannot actively access any of his powers marked with the Mask descriptor. A GM can award Rebellion a Hero Point whenever he is in a situation where he cannot use his powers for this reason. REBELLION/HORNET: Elliot's training at Elysium Academy has instilled in him the values of a villain, and given him an identity as the Bronze Hornet. While he struggles to overcome the morals and mindset taught at the academy, he might also come into conflicts where he finds himself on the sides of both heroes and villains. While Elliot's true allegiance is on the side of the angels, he is reluctant to abandon his identity at Elysium Academy, and the safety it provides as he continues his quest. A GM may award Rebellion a Hero Point when he is in a situation where his conflicting identities or values taught at Elysium Academy cause him trouble. TERROR/HERO: There is just something off about Rebellion. While he is ultimately heroic, he has some serious issues in positive interactions with others. A GM may award Rebellion a Hero Point whenever he is in a situation where his mannerisms, appearance and abilities negatively affects other's reaction to him. TRUTH/SEEKER: Rebellion wants to find the truth about Emerald City. It is his great mission in life. Just what is the Terror? Why does the city have so few super villains? Is there some secret chamber that runs the city behind the scenes? And so much more. He has few qualms about discovering the truth and what he must do to get there. A GM may award Rebellion a Hero Point when he is in a situation where his decision to seek out the truth makes the current situation worse in some way, or WHITE/SHEEP: The matriarch of the Elder family is an ambitious politician in the pockets of the Chamber. The patriarch is a super villain saboteur and spy. The daughter has inherited her father's abilities, and though the proces is slow, she is begin groomed into following in his footsteps. The son is trying to be a hero. Elliot might once have shared this mindset, but his meeting with the Terror left him greatly changed. Now he seeks to dismantle the same conspiracy that his family benefits from, and while he pretends that nothing has changed, it is getting harder to hide his changed outlook from his family. Being the unfavorite to at least his mother may also cause him some serious issues. A GM may award Rebellion a Hero Point when he is in a situation where he runs into trouble with his family, either from trying to keep his facade as still truly being one of them, due to conflicts where his actions could cause them trouble in some way, or if his mother's favoritism towards Elliot's older sister causes him problems. HISTORY Elliot Elijah Elder lived a charmed life. Over the objection of his father, Elliot was sent to the prestigious Elysian Academy, where he could make something of himself. That was the official reason, at least. In truth, Emma was disappointed in her son, for reasons he had never been told. Everett Elder did not really come from a rich family. He did not just support his wife's campaigns or go golfing. No, he was working for Brande Management. A super human with the ability to change his appearance, he was one of many agents performing industrial espionage and sabotage for Brande Management, all to increase their stock. Everett wanted out, but he was in too deep, and so, he continued. And Elaine had inherited his powers, perhaps to an even greater degree. Elliot, however, had not. He was a disappointment. Emma needed some way to use him, and Elysian Academy would be how. At the Elysian Academy, Elliot was pushed for the first time that he could remember. With a particular focus on his physical prowess, as per his mother's requests, and Elliot's arrogance grew once again. He was now both a physical and mental threat to those around him, a fact that he reveled in. He didn't care that Elysian Academy was grooming him to be a super villain. Soon after, during a break at Elysian Academy, Elliot's aunt Elaine went missing. Elliot does not know why it did, but it did. Elysian Academy was worse than he thought. In the weeks that followed, Elliot did his best to keep up his facade at Elysian Academy, acting as arrogant as ever. By day, he is Elliot Elijah Elder, an once almost-remarkable student at Elysian Academy, now relegated to being used as cannon fodder. By night, he is Rebellion, a fearsome hero that prowls the streets of Emerald City for the truth. PERSONALITY & MOTIVATION Elliot can at first appear arrogant, but humbled by his demotion to Omega Squad, and this is the personality that he tries to project to the outside world. POWERS & TACTICS Rebellion is a master of infiltration. POWER DESCRIPTIONS Elliot's powers are a strange mixture of mutation caused by being possessed by the Terror fear spirit, and latent inherited powers being triggered by said possession. Due to psychological issues related to being possessed by the Terror, Elliot is unable to access certain powers without wearing a mask, essentially only those that enhance his physical and mental abilities. He has become stronger, faster and tougher than he ever was before. He is smarter, and when he wants to, possesses a strange, almost unnatural charisma. When he wears a mask, Elliot has access to further powers. This inherited power has mixed with the Terror's power, becoming far greater than his father's own ability. Unlike his father, Elliot can change his voice, throw his voice and has learned how to morph his muscles, in essence making him far stronger than he would normally be. Perhaps the most horrifying part of Elliot's powers is his ability to create fear in those around him. This psionic ability appears to be a variation of the Terror's "Aura of Terror" ability, though if Elliot's wishes to create paralyzing fear, he requires great focus. He can also create an intense fear that allows him to issue commands to his targets, effectively mind controlling them for a brief moment. COMPLICATIONS FEARLESS/FOOL: As Rebellion, Elliot feels no fear. A GM may award Rebellion a Hero Point if the current situation is made worse by Rebellion being hunted by those working for the secrets that he has uncovered in Emerald City. HERO/VILLAIN: Rebellion is new to the whole hero thing. While he tries to shed the mindset instilled by Elysian Academy, he still has some problems with doing the right thing. What should he choose, to save one life or many? To abandon his mission and lose a lead to save a life from a random mugging? He is also rather pragmatic and ruthless. A GM may award Rebellion a Hero Point when he is in a situation where he is tested in following his quest for the truth or performing a heroic action. KID/TERROR: Elliot subconsciously represses his powers, unless he is wearing a mask. Once he puts on a mask, he can easily summon the full extent of his powers, but without, he cannot actively access any of his powers marked with the Mask descriptor. A GM can award Rebellion a Hero Point whenever he is in a situation where he cannot use his powers for this reason. REBELLION/HORNET: Elliot's training at Elysian Academy has instilled in him the values of a villain, and given him an identity as the Bronze Hornet. While he struggles to overcome the morals and mindset taught at the academy, he might also come into conflicts where he finds himself on the sides of both heroes and villains. While Elliot's true allegiance is on the side of the angels, he is reluctant to abandon his identity at Elysian Academy, and the safety it provides as he continues his quest. A GM may award Rebellion a Hero Point when he is in a situation where his conflicting identities or values taught at Elysian Academy cause him trouble. A GM may award Rebellion a Hero Point when he is in a situation where his decision to seek out the truth makes the current situation worse in some way, or he hesitates due having trouble between doing what is right, or continue his mission to seek out the truth. WHITE/SHEEP: The matriarch of the Elder family is an ambitious politician in the pockets of the Chamber. The patriarch is a super villain saboteur and spy. The daughter has inherited her father's abilities, and though the process is slow, she is being groomed to follow in his footsteps. CITY/GRID: Rebellion's expanded awareness of grids and patterns seems to be tied to Emerald City, and to a lesser degree to other metropolitan areas. 9. GM The Emerald Cities, South March 21, 2020 Some time around Midnight The cargo came in at night. They always did. There was something cloak and dagger about it all, but Frank Pulasky was being paid well enough that he didn’t see much reason to care about that. He was content to ship the big, black crates from the dockside warehouse to the little shop down on the corner next to Daniken and Arnold every night while ignoring the strange lights he saw in the sky just before every deliver and the way the stevedores seemed to never say anything. He just wanted to do his job. Unfortunately for Frank, his partner Shawna was a little more curious. “You ever wonder what’s in those crates?” Shawna said as she climbed into the passenger side of the cab, slamming the door shut behind her. “Hell, even what they’re made of? It’s definitely not wood. S’like… Some kinda weird… metal… glass… thing.” Frank sighed to himself, gripping the wheel tightly. “Not really,” he replied, already wanting to leave the conversation. “I mean, it’s all kinda weird,” Shawna said, freeing her little gas-station coffee cup from its holder and taking a sip. “You think this is all legal?” Frank rolled his eyes as he turned the ignition, hearing the roar of the engine as the truck came to life. “Who friggin’ cares, Shawna? It’s not like we can pass up the money. Unless you suddenly won the lottery or somethin’, I’m gonna suggest you just be happy you got the work.” Shawna sighed, leaning back in her chair. “I mean, if it is illegal,” she began to say, but Frank interrupted her. “If it is illegal, then our legal defence is we didn’t know. We lose that defence if you keep bein’ nosy.” Shawna frowned, but had no retort. Frank took that as a chance to start moving. He pulled out of the dock, and turned out into the road. For a while, everything was blissfully quiet. Until he heard something go bang in the freight box. He cursed, and Shawna looked behind her as if she would be able to see through the metal. “We should probably check that,” Shawna said, frowning. “...I mean, probably something just fell over,” Frank said, gritting his teeth. “Which is bad, Frank,” Shawna said. “What if they get mad about broken goods?” Frank sighed. This time, he was the one without a reply. He ground his teeth and grumbled some more, before pulling into an alleyway and slowing to a stop. He glared at Shawna. “Alright, we’ll make sure nothing’s broken, but you,” he said, pointing at her. “Are not going to do any snoopin’.” Shawna rolled her eyes. “Got it.” Frank left the truck in idle, and they both hopped out. Wheeling around to the back, the duo flung open the door to the freight box, and immediately, they were illuminated by a green light. One of the black crates had shattered, and nestled amongst the wreckage was a glowing green orb the size of a bowling ball. Frank cursed, the light almost blinding him, but Shawna was transfixed. She climbed inside, walking as though possessed towards the orb. “What’re you doing?” Frank hissed. “It’s calling to me,” Shawna replied, her voice an eerie monotone. She picked it up, staring at it for a moment, before turning around. Frank saw, to his horror, that her eyes were now glowing the same colour as the orb. “Shawna?” Frank asked, stepping back away from the crate. “Can you hear it, Frank?” she asked. “It’s alive. It’s talking to us. It’ll give us everything. We just… Gotta get it out of here.” “I… think you should put it down, Shawna,” Frank said, climbing up into the box to try and take it from her. “NO!” Shawna shrieked, and suddenly, a pair of beams erupted from her eyes, striking Frank directly in the chest. His eyes went wide, and he went sprawling as he gawped down at the two new, smoking holes in chest. Shawna giggled evilly. “Yes. I see now. You’ll make me powerful. With you, I’ll conquer this c--” She didn’t have time to finish her thought. Another beam came, but not from her. The pain was only momentary before she fell apart into dust, the green orb falling onto the bed of the trunk with a heavy clang. Stepping out of the darkness and stowing his blaster pistol, Rojek sighed. “Humans are goddamned weak-willed,” he muttered to his partner. “Now we’re gonna hafta to drive the truck ourselves,” Rojek said. His partner, Ageda, smirked at him. “And you didn’t want to tail them,” she said as she hefted the lifeless body of Frank into the back of the truck. “I thought maybe at least something on this planet might not disappoint me for once,” Rojek spat as he kicked the orb. “Alright, let’s get this to the shop before we get in trouble.” “Just gonna leave the car?” Ageda asked. “Sure, why not,” Rojek said with a shrug. “We can just steal another one if we have to. Clunky pieces of crap are everywhere, here.” Ageda giggled to herself, and climbed into the cab, and as she did, her appearance became that of Shawna. “Whatever you say, ‘Frank’.” Rojek rolled his eyes as his appearance turned into Frank, and he climbed into the driver’s seat. “Friggin’ Earth.” They drove off into the night, leaving nothing but a small pile of ash. Before anyone found or saw them, Rojek and Ageda were long gone.

  11. GM 11PM, April 1st, 2020 Bridgepoint, Emerald City A man had walked into Mictlan this morning. He had looked disheveled, scared. His hoodie was torn in a few places, he had some bruises. He was rubbing his right arm, looking around with a frantic look in his eyes. He'd heard rumours that some kind of witch was hanging around, someone that dealt with bad stuff. He had just met some bad stuff, the night before, at the port in Bridgepoint. Some kinda demon, he said. A shadow man. It seemed to be just shadows and glowing white eyes under clothes. It had attacked him, it had beaten him, then left him alone. He wasn't the only one. A lot of the night shift had visited by the same thing the last few weeks. He hoped that the people in the shop would pass word on to the witch, before he hurried out of there. The public port in Bridgepoint was not as silent as one would expect at night. A few men were walking around, sure. Guards, probably. The man that had rushed into Mictlan and asked about the witch was one of them, patrolling at the docks, making sure no one entered any of the ships in the port. Some people would pay good money to keep their ships safe, after all. There was a party at a larger yacht, with music playing and laughter filling the air. They could be heard from far away, attracting plenty of attention. Someone on the city council throwing a party. Maybe the shadow man would show, maybe he wouldn't. Perhaps Santa Muerte would find out.
  12. GM October 4th, 2019 10:30 PM Betlehem Heights A lot had changed on the streets of Emerald City. Things had changed since the events of late August, and something had slipped into the city during the confusion. During the month of September, something new had started spreading through the city. A new drug, something simply called Power. Small white pills with a capital P. Swallow, and two minutes later, you gained random super powers for fifteen minutes. It was a rush, it was exciting, and it was of course completely destabilizing. Street fights evolved into super powered brawls. People fell from the sky, the rush running through their heads. And sometimes, the sheer power simply burned them out, like a candle that burned too bright. At the docks, Magh'kee witnessed a fellow worker swallow a pill, then, with his brief surge of super strength, he did the work of ten men, before the heavy blocks he was carrying fell on him, crushing him. At Compass Rose International, Raya Wells saw a security guard shoot lightning from his eyes at a man that triggered the metal detector. Turned out he had a metal plate in his skull. At Elysium Academy, Elliot Elijah Elder saw other members of the Omega Squad suddenly showing all kinds of different powers that they never had before. To call it strange would be weird, and then one of them offered him some of the Power. The school shut it down as soon as it was discovered, but Elliot grew curious. However they got on the track, all three would eventually end up in Betlehem Heights. The only place to get Power.
  13. Riverfront August 5, 4:10 PM GM It was a fairly standard afternoon in the Riverfront. The cars pushed along, their drivers eager to get out of the downtown and retreat to the suburbs where they lived. The heat made things slightly sticky, only encouraging people to want to vacate faster. The sidewalks similarly were lined with people going about their daily business, entranced by their phones and latest purchases. Yet in one alley, there was something quite un-standard. It started as a small pulse of light, before the air in the alley began to ripple and shudder. For only a split-second, that light became a crack in the border between worlds and just as soon, it was gone. In its place stood a man clothed in the stereotypical outfit of a burglar: A black-and-white striped shirt, a black beanie, a domino mask, and black pants. In his left hand, he held a strange-looking gun - shaped like a ray gun from 1950s sci-fi movies, it was coloured shiny gold and covered in dials and meters. “Myah!” He cried. “I did it! They thought it would not work, but they were fools to doubt Captain Crime, who breaks even the laws of causality!” His victorious gloating was interrupted by the sound of a door opening. Captain Crime turned to see a young man, dressed in a black polo with khaki pants and a similar apron, carrying a bag of trash. The young man stopped, and stared at Captain Crime. “Uh… You lost?” he asked. Crime smiled, and raised his pistol. The young man backed away, raising his hands. “Hey, now, buddy, we can talk ab--AAA!” His high pitched-shriek intermingled with the sound of a laser blast, the light of which enveloped his whole body. When the beam had faded, the young man had changed. Now he was dressed in an open, sleeveless leather vest, along with torn up jeans and combat boots. What had once been a fairly neat blond undercut was now a lime green mohawk. He stood still for a moment, looking at his surroundings, before a cruel grin crossed his face. “Eyyy,” he said. “Now this is nice. Hey, boss, you wanna go and mess some stuff up?” Captain Crime’s grin grew wider. “Oh, oh yes, my felonious friend, I do.”

History Elliot Elijah Elder is the youngest of the prestigious Elder family, who have long made Emerald City their home. Born the second child of local politician Emma Emmelie and wealthy heir Everett Eaton Elder, he never found himself wanting for anything, except perhaps his parents' time and love. An intelligent young man, Elliot grew up alongside his older sister Elaine, named after their aunt, who would often spend more time with the children than their actual parents did. While Elliot's mother always seemed cold and distant, his father at least used to show him affection, at least until Elliot discovered blood under his shirt, after he had returned from one of his business trips. Soon after, the affection his father once had for Elliot began to fade, with both parents seeming to lavish all of their attention on Elliot's older sister. Rarely interacting with others besides his family, Elliot grew confident in his intelligence, growing into an arrogant young man. He was naturally gifted, rarely needed to study or work for anything, and thus stopped ever pushing himself. He didn't need to, he could do whatever he needed without needing to spend time on activities that bored him. He was rich, he was smart, he could have everything he wanted by pointing at it. After all, his parents didn't care, they just gave him what he wanted, aside from time. His aunt Elaine seemed to be his only positive adult influence for much of his childhood, but her attempts at helping Elliot grow into a better person were soon stiffled. To further her image and present Elliot as the All-American boy, he was forcibly enrolled in Elysium Academy, after having spent his time in more lax private schools or with private tutors. Forced to push himself, Elliot slowly, but surely, began down the path to become the Bronze Hornet, an identity forced upon him by a teacher that had taken an immediate dislike to the youth. Despite possessing no powers, Elliot's connections and intelligence soon catapulted him into various leadership positions, rising to the top student squads in the process. Seeing the power and reach a life as a villain could give him, Elliot started down a dark path. He strode with purpose and confidence through the halls of the academy, other, lesser students fearing his wrath. All according to his mother's plan. Emma sought to gain even more power than she already had as a politician, but her ambitions were squashed by the Chamber, the secret rulers of Emerald City, before they could even begin. While she had planned to use his son and daughter to further her agenda, members of the Chamber discovered her plot and determined a suitable punishment to force Emma back in line: The Terror was set loose upon the Elder Mansion. At the time, only staff and Elliot were present. The Terror hunted him through the mansion, killing any member of the staff that found themselves in its path. Finally, it reached Elliot. The Terror collapsed, leaving his aunt Elaine's shrivelled corpse behind. And then the Terror spirit possessed Elliot. He saw sights, he heard voices. He learned of the true power behind Emerald City. He learned how the Terror had been created, how it had been set upon his family. He learned so much, before it disappeared, leaving a traumatized Elliot behind. Elliot was changed by the events, in more ways than one. Knowing the truth, or at least part of it, he found a distaste for villainy and powers, but not for revenge. He found his prestige and privelege at Elysium Academy stripped way, being demoted to the Omega Squad, the so-called "Jobber Squad", good only for lackeys to buy time for more important crimes. His body was changing, growing stronger, faster, more resilient. When he wore a mask, he gained powers akin to that of the Terror. He formulated a plan. He would find the truth. He would expose the truth. All he needed was to keep up appearances, so no one would suspect him. And soon after, Rebellion was first seen prowling the streets of Emerald City for the truth. Costume and Appearance Elliot is a young man with a slightly muscular athletic build, owing to both good genes and regular exercise. He has short blonde hair and hazel eyes, and he is usually clean shaven. He is rather average looking appearance wise. He prefers lighter colors, such as white, light blue and the like, or wearing clothes in the Elysium Academy colors. As the Bronze Hornet, Elliot wears a dark grey uniform with heavy black boots and gloves, and a darker grey jacket with a large bronze colored hornet symbol on the back. He wears a black full face mask with a similar bronze colored horney symbol, with his eyes in its wings. He uses a pair of bronze colored batons. When he is acting as Rebellion, Elliot is completely black and apparently featureless, with only glowing white eyes visible. He does not appear to have a nose, mouth or ears, though at least the mouth can appear as a white line, if Elliot puts in the effort. He will wear whatever clothes is at hand when putting on a mask to transform, though his most used look is a pair of dark blue pants, a blue jacket and a blue cap. He wields a pair of dark grey batons. Powers Elliot's powers come from two sources, though he is only aware of one. He has inherited his father's ability to change his features, morphing his appearance, such as his Rebellion disguise or visually blending in with the area around him. As these abilities first appeared after Elliot's traumatic encounter with the Terror, he believes that all of his powers come from his exposure to the Terror's abilities. The power of the Terror has vastly improved Elliot's physical and mental abilities, making him much strong and tougher than he would normally have been. Due to a mental block caused by the trauma of facing the Terror, Elliot has locked several of his abilities away until he puts on a mask of some kind. Aside from only being able to access his morphic abilities this way, putting on a mask allows Elliot to access several psionic abilities. The most obvious is the abilitiy to mentally enhance how far he can leap, that he can cling to walls and psionically slow his falls, making a fall from almost any height safe. He becomes unable to feel fear, which can be both a boon and a bane, driving him to some reckless actions. Finally, he is able to project terror on those around him, causing them to fear him and run in fright, or even paralyze them with fear. Owing to his training at the Elysium Academy, Elliot is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, and skilled in the use of batons both in melee and thrown. He prefers using these weapons when forced into combat. Allies & Relations Emma Emmelie Elder: Elliot's mother is a politician in Emerald City. A rising star, she married into the Elder family in part due to the power of their name, and their fortune. Her marriage to Everett Elder seems to be one of convenience rather than one of any feelings of love. Firmly in the pocket of the Chamber, Emma's attempt at rebellion against the conspiracy led to the Terror killing her sister as punishment. Distant to Elliot, clearly favoring his older, more accomplished sister. Everett Eaton Elder: Elliot's father, the patriarch of the Elder family, and all the wealth of the family. Though he once tried to pursue an actually romantic relationship with Elliot's mother, he eventually relented to living a marriage of convenience. While he used to be warm and affectionate towards Elliot, he grew cold when Elliot discovered what could have revealed his true identity. While feigning being a rich idiot with no day job, Everett is in reality the super villain the Royal, an agent of the Chamber employed primarily in remote locations. Elaine Emma Elder: Elliot's older sister, a caring young woman attending college, with the aim of becoming a lawyer. The favored child, as she displayed powers like her father's from a young age, unlike Elliot. Everett has recently begun showing interest in training her as a successor. Elaine and Elliot has always had a close relationship, supporting each other, though they have fallen out of touch since Elliot began attending Elysium Academy. Elaine Kessler: Elliot's beloved aunt. Elaine lived at the Elder Mansion since Elliot's childhood, often taking care of her nephew and niece, showering them with the love that their absent parents did not. A supportive figure in Everett's life, she was killed by possession by the Terror as punishment for Emma's attempted rebellion against the Chamber. 18. GM Elysium Academy, Emerald City May 16th, 2019 11:30 PM Elysium Academy was as silent as one would expect during the night. The students, for the most part, knew better than to cause trouble, less they risk a punishment. And a pair of students were sneaking through the night, each independent of the other. They had both overheard Mr. Stark with Doctor Trine during lunch. Something about some important correspondence from "you-know-who". Very vague, sure, but also a potential clue. One that could lead to freeing students... or perhaps to the conspiracy behind the academy and the city itself? Neither knew the identity of the other. Neither of the two even knew that there were other rebels among Elysium Academy, but it seemed that on this night, Omen and the Bronze Hornet were about to learn.
