  1. GM Rath & Stromberg Plaza in Wading Way, Freedom City October 24th, 2021 3:32 AM The doors to Rath and Stromberg caved in, a group of four standing in the entrance. A tall man in a trenchcoat and welder's mask stood silhouetted, an enormous rifle smoking in his large, gauntleted hands. The red lenses of his mask were glowing red. Behind him stood a titan of a man, ten feet tall and plated in armour from head to toe. On his shoulders sat a small, brunette woman with a vulpine grin and a fluffy mane of hair, a domino mask covering her eyes. Finally, there was another woman, surrounded by soft green light, who didn't seem to be very interested in the events unfolding. Those who'd been paying attention to their phones would have seen the clips caught on phones of this group doing a series of smash and grabs across Freedom, sometimes teleporting in, others simply running or driving across the city. After a short dramatic pause they started marching inside, the lead man talking as he walked. "Everyone on the ground, and hands where we can see them. Don't try to be a hero, I'm sure the professionals are on the way. Just stay down, we'll take what we're after and be out of your hair. Stay quiet and none of you will be in any danger." The words were calm and measured. Clinical. The grinning woman laughed slightly before speaking up. "Come on Shadey-" "Don't call me that." " -we're robbin' a bank! You can live a little! Have some fun! Come on, back me up Anarchilles." The large, armoured man, Anarchilles, laughed. It was a sound like a volcano erupting. "I wouldn't mind having some fun." The glowing woman just mumbled something unintelligible. Ignoring them Steel Shade just marched forwards, knocking out a pair of security guards who tried to intercept him and striding past the reception desk. Just as he was about to head through a Staff Only door, he turned to the trio. "Keep the heroes busy for the next two minutes. Non-lethal only. Don't hurt the civillians." To the tones of some more mumbling and a cheery "You gots it boss!" He disappeared through the doors.

  3. GM Afternoon, September 25th Millennium Mall, Midtown Freedom City It was raining, hard. Like so many other teens, young adults and older, Muirne, Luke, Leon and Charlie had found their way to Millennium Mall to have something to do now that classes were out for the week. Something somewhere dry, hopefully. Bernadette, for her part, happened to be in the mall at the same time. Maybe just a single her, maybe several, or maybe it all depended on the moment. As one would expect on a day like this, the mall was absolutely packed. People everywhere, in stores, in the food court, well... everywhere. The PA system routinely mentioned events like clean up to the toilets on the 2nd floor, a missing child near a toy store, lost phones and the like.
  4. GM Friday, April 2nd 7:30 PM, sunset Two blocks North-West of the Millennium Mall, 52nd Avenue runs along Liberty Park. A police cruiser turns down off the avenue, making its way down towards the mall. The uniformed officers inside glance around at the sidewalks, paying close attention as they passed. There had been several disappearances reported over the last month, mostly homeless folk. But a young couple had gone missing right off the sidewalk less than a week prior, just outside the museum a few blocks away. Officials have been able to keep it out of the media, so far. But the locals know better and as the sun sets the sidewalk crowds thin out. Two twenty-something, university students walking from the mall towards the park pay no mind of the police car as it passes them. The girls talking lively as behind them, from the shadows of an alley, a large figure steps out on to the sidewalk. Its long stride allowing it to easily close the distance with the girls, until it reaches out. With a grunt and a swipe, the figure knocks one of the girls aside and grabs her friend as she begins screaming. “Jamie!” Jennifer cried out as she scrambled to her feet. A large, broad man was carrying her roommate into a dimly lit alley. The figure didn’t seem to care about her, ignoring her yells as it just walked away carrying the struggling Jamie. “Put her down you giant creep!” Jennifer ran into the alley after them. A moment later, the silvery-gray metallic tendril covered Chimera came flying back out over the sidewalk and slammed loudly into the side of a parked car. Chimera groans as she starts to pull herself out of the dented side of the car.
  5. GM Rodney, Suburb of Freedom City Thursday, 13th of May 2021 11:30 AM Once, Rodney was a peaceful town, known best for its fantastic sandwiches and its beautiful bells that rang out the hours. Once, Rodney was a free town, with people going about their daily business, children going to their schools, and the occasional tourist coming to visit the historic churches and official buildings. Once, Rodney was an ordinary town, with fine, law-abiding people and a gentle pace of daily life. Once, all of these things were true, but no longer. A week ago, a man with dark rock skin streaked with gold led a group of armed criminals into. Working together, they took the mayor and the rest of the city council hostage, and the leader, who called himself Ex-Prisoner sealed all the police who resisted his authority in stalagmites of pure obsidian. Since then, he and his gang have begun ruling the streets by night, even pulling in a few of the more corrupt cops as they rampage through the streets. The rare few reporters who managed to get word out of the town were swiftly hunted down and captured - or perhaps even killed. No one seems to know. Rodney needs heroes, desperately. Fortunately for the town, it is right outside Freedom City, home to one of the greatest concentrations of superheroes on Earth. Okay, @Kaede Kimura, @Lone_Star, @Spacefurry, let me know how your characters have heard about Rodney's situation, how they've met up, and so on.

  7. GM Claremont Academy March 9th, 2020 Afternoon, after class Aside from Casanova and Stinger's grudges, things seemed to have calmed down considerably since the fight between New Young Freedom and the group of young heroes in October. New Young Freedom had resumed their patrols in December and, so far, they seemed to stay on the straight and narrow path. Well, things between the two groups had been mostly calm. A week or so before, Muirne, Luke's girlfriend, had been teamed with Sebastian for a project. Soon after, she had started talking about how maybe Sebastian wasn't that bad, that Luke and the others should try to give him another chance...
  8. OOC for this. We'll start off with just @Kaede Kimura and @Nerdzul, I'll call in @RedSpine, @Cubismo and @Lone_Star as everyone else gets involved!
  9. Elena was still waiting for her classes to start, but she figured there was no reason she couldn't teach herself. The sheer amount of information the people from the so-called "present day" was astounding. Though she had just begun to scratch the surface of it, it was certainly a far cry better than what she had in her own time: moldy dictionaries and old issues of Popular Mechanics. That, and the advice and teachings of other people in her tribe. El sighed happily as she signed off the library's computer, gathering a small stack of schematics and mechanical diagrams she had printed. The short time she had spent online had taught her what she may have learned in many, many months, if not years. It was all just right there! Her stomach grumbled loudly. Better get something to eat before I head down to the science lab. It is build-your-own-fajita day. --- Though some of the other students snickered behind her back as she went up for a fifth and sixth plate of fajitas, she pretended to ignore them. There was more important work to be done, and she needed plenty of fuel! Nevermind that it hurt her feelings pretty badly, she spend her lunch poring over the schematics. After lunch, she donned her armor, and took her gravity hammer down to the science labs. Surely there would be someone there to help show her the ropes! "Umm." There was no one there. "Umm." The facility was spotless, and fully decked out with lots of science equipment she had never seen before, much less heard of. "UMMMMMM." What started as an exploration into the knowledge of this world was quickly turning into a hopeless venture. She pulled her armor off, and tossed it on a table, and glumly sat down at a lab table. Crap!
  10. GM Claremont Academy February 5th, 2021 Afternoon Coach Armstrong was pacing around in front of a tree at Claremont, looking at his watch. Elena was already there. She had been at Claremont for a few days now, getting papers and everything in order for staying ever since her rather explosive arrival. "Damn kid was supposed to be here by now..." Elena could stay at Claremont for now. If they hadn't been able to figure out a way to get her home by the next semester, she could join the school by then. Even if she was certainly experienced, she didn't know much about this world. She was hardly the first interdimensionally or chronologically challenged student at Claremont, and she would probably not be the last. So the school had chosen a student to show her around Claremont, give her the big tour of everything. And he was late. "Listen, I need to go, got an appointment I can't miss, just... wait right here, and he'll show up. Or go find some other teacher if he's not here in 15 minutes, alright?" Shaking his head and muttering something about a dumb kid, Armstrong marched off, leaving Elena alone by the tree.

    Take a Breath

Danica was not a fast walker under the best of circumstances, but she did have a way of getting a crowd to part effortlessly for her, even without anyone noticing it happening. She walked with Elena out of the crowded Valentine's Day party and into the deserted hallway outside the gym. From here the music of the party was still faintly audible but the noise level was much reduced and the air was cooler and fresher. Most students entering and leaving the party were using the outside doors, so they weren't likely to be disturbed here. "How are you doing?" Danica asked, all friendly concern.

GM The Neighborhood Bodega near Claremont Academy February 1st, 2021 Afternoon, after classes had ended It was time for some of the newer students to take a trip to the neighborhood bodega. Danica thought so, at least. She had rounded up Luke, Leon and Muirne and off they went for cheap junk food! The weather was quite nice, if a bit chilly. It had started snowing a few hours earlier, and was still going, but the snowfall was light and inobtrusive. The group was just exiting the bodega with their bounty in hand when a strange wind blew through the street. It was warm, cutting a path through the falling snow, with a strong smell of ozone and rust along as it went. In a flash, an armored vehicle appeared, driving through the tunnel in the snowfall at full speed, tearing down the road. It was not alone. Seconds later, a pair of Omegadrones appeared in the same manner, flying straight after the vehicle.
  14. Outrider Power Level: 7 [8] (122/125PP) Unspent Power Points: 3 Trade-Offs: -1 Attack / +1 Damage (Hammer Throw, Get Over Here!), -2 Attack / +2 Damage (Hammer Strike, Hammer Knockout, -2 Defense / +2 Toughness In Brief: Teenage post-apocalyptic valkyrie with a big hammer and a powerful car. Witness her. Catchphrase: Theme: Between the Hammer and the Anvil - Judas Priest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJLXQ8i3uao Alternate Identity: Elena “El” Maddox, Public Birthplace: Outskirts of Post-Apocalyptic Freedom City, 2035 Residence: (Optional) Where the character normally resides / lives. Base of Operations: Claremont Academy Occupation: Former "Outrider", current student Affiliations: None Family: Close or otherwise significant relatives. Description: Age: 16 (DoB: 2035, exact day & month unknown.) Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 6’2 Weight: 205 Eyes: Gray Hair: Pale Blonde Elena is huge, a product of being one of the few surviving natural-born mutants that survived Omega’s ravaging of Earth. Her powers grant her enhanced strength, dexterity, and durability, and it is obvious to anyone that looks at her (unless they assume she’s a very tall bodybuilder!). She has tanned skin, from a life spent outdoors hunting Omegadrones, or scavenging the wastelands for a chance at finding metahuman technology. She brought only her armor and a ragged shirt with her, but she tends to gravitate towards very simple, practical clothing, with no fashion sense whatsoever. As Outrider, she wears heavy power armor, scavenged from a superhero battle. She is proud of it, and wears it everywhere she can. It resembles a heavy platemail suit, made of large armor plates and adorned with spikes. Its paint is long gone, leaving a dull metal surface. It has a helmet which she can deploy or retract at will that covers her entire face and gives her extrasensory capabilities. Attached to the left vambrace of her armor is a wide shield, and similarly retractable, made from the remaining pieces of power armor she wasn’t able to fix. Her gravity hammer is scavenged technology after her world fell to Omega. It resembles a heavily modified sledgehammer, with wires and panels held onto it with duct tape and a prayer. It is also a weapon of super-science, and she will discover its functions as she has time and resources to devote to it. She drives a specialized sports car, which she calls Painkiller, designed for maximum speed and protection. It was once a vintage Dodge Charger, with the back of the roof removed and trunk space heavily modified to allow for a rear gunner. It has also been rebuilt with a roll cage and off-road tires. The paint is cherry-red, with jagged teeth across the grille. It's mean, it's loud, and it's her baby. History: In Elena's timeline, Earth was fighting a losing battle. Omega triumphed over Earth, and it was just a matter of time before humanity is extinct. For two generations humanity held back Omega and his forces, but within a few years this battle would surely be lost. The major cities had fallen, so the surviving humans have banded together in clans made of several families, and whatever hangers-on attached themselves, clinging together for protection and survival. Omegadrone attacks were a daily occurance, and Elena had the most dangerous job in her clan: the Outrider. She and her twin sister, Stella, would drive a loud and highly visible vehicle into the ruins Freedom City and try to get as many Omegadrones as possible so that the rest of her clan could scavenge the battlefields. Both of them were born "gene-altered", or natural-born mutants, making them valuable members of their clan. They were inseparable since birth, and had each other's back, surviving dozens of battles side-by-side. That is, until a regular patrol turned into havoc. They were waylaid by a swarm of Omegadrones - more than they had encountered before. The two dashed back to their car, and took off. Stella fired off bolts of energy while Elena drove recklessly, trying to lose their pursuers. Elena thought they could lose them by driving through a "thinny", an area where her dimension and the Terminus was opaque. Having no time to debate this, El drove through. Their ride became more treacherous, and Stella shouted at her sister to turn around, that it was too dangerous. By that point, it was too late to turn around. El continued to drive, to warn her clan of the upcoming attack, but her car hit a bump, and Stella fell off. As Elena cried out, the 'drones turned towards her sister. Elena never knew what became of Stella, because her car traveled through a dimensional rift, a product of the thinned dimensional area. She appeared in modern-day Freedom City. Personality & Motivation: El's desire to perform heroics comes from years of training and a genuine desire to help people. She was taught as a child of her clan that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one, and even before appearing in Freedom City, she had performed incredibly dangerous tasks to make sure that her clan had enough to eat that day. Though socially, she is quite backwards, she feels a sense of kinship with those who go and fight the good fight, day after day. El herself comes across as incredibly blunt, the result of growing up in a world where every day was a fight for survival. This may be off-putting to those she meets at first (see below), but to her friends, she is loyal and true to the end. She has built an armor around herself that she lets few into, but those that she trusts she would do anything for. Powers & Tactics: El was born with her powers - high strength, agility, and incredibly tough. She uses this to press any advantage she has against a foe in hand-to-hand combat, and fights with very little panache, preferring to fight relentlessly and without quarter. Her gravity hammer and powered armor augment her natural abilities, and allow her different methods of attacking. She will allow foes to get as close to her as possible, then slam the ground with her gravity hammer, scattering them like ninepins. Having only worked with her twin in the past, she does not understand complex tactics. Power Descriptions: The mutation Elena was born with is obvious to anyone looking at her, or at least would be viewed as a curiosity – she is larger than a normal person, with a bodybuilder’s physique, though she is otherwise unaffected. The air ripples around her hammer when she activates it, as it distorts gravity itself to add momentum to her swings. She wields the hammer as it is meant to be used - and most problems look like nails to her. She has enough mechanical know-how to get the armor working, but many of its functions are still shut off. Perhaps in time, she will get it working to full capacity. It resembles a standard suit of heavy power armor at this point. Complications: Fuel-Injected Suicide Machine: El’s technology is very unreliable and tends to shut down at the worst possible moments. It is (sometimes literally) held together with duct tape and soldering. If You Can’t Fix What’s Broken, You’ll Go Insane: Elena had a difficult life in her version of post-Omega Earth. She is still having difficulty processing it, and never had access to counseling on her world. It will take her time to adjust to feeling safe again. Larger Than Life and Twice as Ugly: Despite her stony disposition, Elena is hurt easily by comments on her physical appearance. She is huge, tall, and does little to hide this. Her mutation makes it difficult for her to fit in, and she draws attention in crowds. Rocker, Roller, Out-Of-Controller: Elena has a temper problem and a low tolerance for frustration. She tends to rush headlong into situations, both in her teenage social life and as a superhero. Witness Me! (Being Uncouth): Elena comes from a harsh, desolate world where extreme scarcity is the norm, and you did not know if you would live to see the end of the day. Her manner of speech is blunt, and can be considered rude, and her table manners are nonexistent. Social niceties are absolutely beyond her.
