Brilliant Capital of the People's African Union, the second most influential power bloc on Earth, and the 4th most influential power bloc among the United Earth and Colonies Federation for the last three centuries. One week ago, it concluded the hosting of the Games of the DLXXXI Olympiad, celebrating humanity's achievements throughout the passage of time. Now, the city, along with its citizens, can only stare in abject horror, as the entire Advanced League of Oceania was being rapidly reduced to ashes. President Alphonse Massamba-Tchicaya conferred with the Azure Champion, the world's strongest human alive. "... and we have no word from the rest of the United Freedom League?" Though he remained composed, the Azure Champion couldn't help but take a sudden, swift breath as he recalled losing contact with them, when they arrived at the ground zero. "I'm... sorry, mr President. I'm affraid that we lost contact with them, same as all other heroes who went up against the new weapon the Reformists are fielding." "And we are sure that it can-" "Mr President." The Azure Champion cut President Tchicaya. "You have seen the destruction this weapon has wrought. The so-called Destreamer is the genuine article." Tchicaya seemed to hesitate. The Azure Champion knew what was in the President's mind. It went against everything they stood for. Against everything humanity had fought for, since time immemorial. "Loathe though I am to suggest it, maybe you should consider their terms..." "And have our people used as pawns for their Xenophobic policies?" Tchicaya burst out. "Our people died in droves to fight off the last organization that saw fit to subjugate the rest of the galaxy! Surrendering to the Revengers would not only be a betrayal of our humanity, it would spit on the graves of our ancestors, our ancestors' ancestors, and so on!" "... And if you don't surrender... there will be no one left to feel ashamed." "..." Slinking back on his chair, the president let out a sigh. "What would you have me do, old friend?" The Azure Champion smiled softly, as he flew outside the open window of the Governmental House. "... I will attempt to attack their headquarters. I will gather any hero who's still active, and make for a last ditch effort." Turning his head towards President Tchicaya, he said. "May the Goddess guide you through." A flurry of flashes, the residual energies from the weapons unleashed, kept the night sky alight, as the Azure Champion hastened away. This battle, that shook the very foundation of the Earth, posed threateningly as merely a precussor to what was about to follow; an unfolding of events that would send ripples throughout the history of mankind... Present Day, Freedom City Monday, June 15th, 2015 Evening, 20:10 It started abruptly, without warning. Tears in the fabric of reality started popping left and right, in a seemingly random pattern. For the last hour, Parkside has been riddled with this randomly occuring phenomena, as everything the tears touched seemingly disappeared into nothingness. Then, the tears would close, only for new ones to pop back. Soon, various news outlets arrived at Parkside, making reports about this peculiar incident, and it rapidly became apparent, from the national news, that this wasn't limited to Freedom City; plenty of cities across the American continent were being bombarded by the Tears, albeit within a limited area. As the Tears persist, the first few heroes arrive at the scene...
  3. Outer edge of the Sol System The Communion's attack on Earth had been repulsed by many of the planet’s heroes, working alongside several military and extra-governmental forces. For the moment, the planet was safe. But the Communion's world killer weapon was still positioned at the outer edge of the solar system, barely held in check by the Freedom League and their allies. With reports reaching back to the Freedom League and Earth's heroes from the Star Knights about a fleet of Communion ships headed towards the Sol System, possibly to try to assist in getting the world killer free, it was decided that merely holding the world killer at bay was no longer a viable solution. So the remaining League members on Earth had begun gathering a number of volunteers to try to help destroy the world killer before the Communion relief fleet could arrive. The gathering of the various heroes coincided with the return of one of Earth's Star Knights, Kyle Steward, who had firsthand experience against the Communion's deadly weapon. Now, Geckoman was behind the controls of one of the League's Pegasus spaceplanes, flying a rather odd collection of heroes to help in the fight against the world killer….

December 25, 2014 Walking about the Dubai International Convention Centre and mingling, Amir al-Misri would have been well within his rights to congratulate himself on a very successfully hosted conference. The science and technology summit - his PR people had come up with a more pompous title but it had sounded a little too obviously designed by committee to stick in the billionaire philanthropist's mind - had drawn experts in civic engineering, clean energy initiatives, information networking and a few dozen other equally impressive fields from around the globe. The chance to compare notes and show off the latest prototypes had been incentive enough but the sizable grant money being offered by his firm to the most impressive projects hadn't hurt, either. He wasn't left to bask in satisfaction for long, however, as one of his aides rushed over, his colouring pallid with stress, and shoved a tablet into Amir's hands. "Sir! Sir, you have to see this," the uncharacteristically disheveled man insisted, running a hand through his neat beard. "Some sort of weapon just made groundfall in the Rub' al Khali! It looks like- the data suggests it was launched from orbit. The payload... we don't have any idea what we're looking at, sir." The thermal satellite image on the tablet showed an aerial view of the Empty Quarter with a small, strangely cool blotch at the site of the impact. A blotch that was slowly but noticeably spreading outward.

Eyes: Light-Purple Hair: Not Applicable Description: Hronos is a Mechanodynamis. He has a human-like structure. His body is composed of techno-mechanical parts. His skin is a Light-Purple, with visible circuits. His hands look like Navy-Blue mechanical armor gauntlets. His upper body looks like a Navy-Blue robotic breastplate covering a white body armor. He appears to wear a Navy-Blue mechanical belt on his waist. The mouth in his Navy Blue helmet-like head is completely covered by a White mouthpiece, he sports White earpeaces and a Light-Purple visor for eyes. His legs look like Light-Blue and White armored boots from the knees down. Finally, his back holds a Blue rocket-pack. Power Descriptions: As a Mechanodynamis, Hronos has a sturdy mechanical body resistant to damage and adverse natural conditions. He is able to quickly process and employ all languages from intelligent living beings, as well as computers. His body is able to accomodate accelerated modes of self-transportation, including flight, thanks to the rocket-pack that protrudes on his back, and his thought processor is normally capable of carrying difficult calculations and executing rapid actions at 5 times the normal pace. He is also the assigned Wielder of the Essence of Time. His techno-mechanical body is capable of processing this internalized essence, and reconfigure his body parts at will, granding him with a versatile arsenal of armaments, and granting him control over time itself. Some of them follow. However, spending the last few millenia in a lethargic sleep, a lot of his capabilities, are malfunctioning, and thus, set offline, until he can recover them. His computational capacity appears to be hampered by fragmentation. Hronos' insulators have severyly degraded, making electricity and magnetism severely affect his techno-mechanical body, and due to being incactive for many milenia, his mental defences are slightly unregulated, afecting his ability to withstand mental attacks. History: Spirit. Life. Time. Death. Knowledge. These are the five key Essences that have been encompassing the world, ever since the beginning of time. When the world was created, there were also created five beings of robotical nature. These beings came to be known as Mechanodynames, and they were each tasked with safeguarding an Essence. Psihi, the Holder of Spirit. Zoi, the Holder of Life. Hronos, the Holder of Time. Thanatos, the Holder of Death. And Gnosi, the Holder of Knowledge. The Essences granted each one of them a unique and diverse assortment of powerful abilities, which further augmented their natural capabilities. Using those powers, the Five Wielders were able to protect the galaxy from various threats, both from within and from without the creation. One of the most powerful of them was Catastrophe, the Bringer of Annihilation, who invaded the world and waged a terrible war with the Mechanodynames. During the war, the Five Wielders, assisted by the first civilizations, managed to stave off Catastrophe's forces, and in a final climactic battle, they repelled Catastrophe into the Entropy Zone. Doing so, however, required a huge energy release, that damaged and scattered the Mechanodynames towards the five corners of the universe. The blast had rendered Hronos offline, as he drifted through space, until he finally arrived at the solar system, during the accretion of the planet that was to become known as Earth. The next 4 billion years, Hronos remained close to the core of the planet, and his slumber seemed that it would last for eternity. That eventually changed, though, when the various disturbances caused from the constant battles between superpowered beings that were waged on Earth, shook Hronos' systems to turn back on. After crawling his way out of the ground and into the surface, Hronos came face to face with the civilization that had started to thrive in this planet. He soon realised that many of his systems were malfunctioning, and that he couldn't escape the gravity of Earth. Deciding that he must have arrived there for a reason, Hronos set forth to travel and protect the Earth and it's inhabitants from all threats, his journey eventually leading him to Freedom City. In the intervening time, Hronos became aqcuaintanced with the super heroine Velocity of the Freedom League, and he became involved with a powerful Time-controlling entity known as Collapse, Velocity's son Lawrence from an alternate timeline, who after gainning immense powers of an interdimensional nature, embarked on a mission accross the timestream to ensure that all of his alternate selves will become Collapse as well, each instance serving to increase his powers. The two heroes joined powers to stop the mad Collapse from influencing his past self, by seeking refuge in Null Zone, a dimension where time does not exist. Though its climate was extremely hostile to Hronos, as he was the Wielder of Time, the Mechanodynamis braved the pain of Null Space's rejecting nature, in order to help Velocity fight off Collapse's manifested avatar. After successfully fending him off, Hronos remained for 6 years in the Null Zone along with Velocity, her partner Robert, and their son Lawrence, in order to help them raise their son safely and in an enviroment where no outside distractions would impede them. When Hronos returned from the Null-Zone, virtually no time had passed in the real world. After 2 years of (real time) activity, a lot of his essential functions have been steadily recovered, and he is now able to fully traverse the cosmos, without being bound to Earth. However, as the little blue planet showed him hospitality in his time of need, Hronos has grown fond of it, and the planet's high propensity for getting into trouble ensures that he will always keep an eye out for it. Personality & Motivation: Hronos is a very calm, and at times, deliberate individual. He speaks in a very polite and formal manner, when conversing with others. His sense of duty has been instilled in him ever since his creation, and drives him to protect those in need from danger. Powers & Tactics: Hronos values subdoing his opponents as efficiently as possible. That is why he prefers opening up a battle by employing the Deccelerator Blaster if faced with one foe, or the Time Stopper if faced with multiple foes, and then pick them appart with long ranged artillery. When the fight becomes close and personal, he switches gears into employing the Support Motor, which greatly enhances his combat capabilities, and uses his nigh-unescapable grip to render his enemies helpless. Finally, when a foe proves especially stubborn, he attacks them with a vicious barrage of unarmed blows, taking advantage of the fact that his Interdimensional Arms can come from all angles, ignoring tempo-spatial restrictions, and taking opponents by surprise. Vahnyu, Hronos is a cosmic enough sort of guy I expect you can come up with your own reasons for him being around!

January 6, 2014 7:20 AM EST The first ray of sunshine came in the window and Richard Cline opened his eyes, ready for his last day off before they headed back to the West Coast for a full week of shooting. Richard sat up, pushing aside the linen sheets, and looked at the waxed-paper window on the wall of the little wooden house. Ticktickticktick Time slowed to a crawl for Richard Cline, as Fast-Forward took in his changed bedroom with all the time in the world. Linen sheets, featherbed, waxpaper windows, and I think that's a chamberpot under the bed...oh, geez, am I back in the Renaissance again? He looked down at the woman sharing his bed and reached down to gently nudge Paige awake, feeling the familiar brush against his mind that had been part of his soul for twenty-five years. Aw, geez, did I take her back with me again? She's gonna kick my ass after that thing with the Wild West... Ticktickticktick On the handwrought, overlapping planks, there was a woodcut of a man frozen in a blur of motion paired with a smiling woman in a low-cut dress, smoke and fire rising from her hands. Behind them were a young man in equal speed, and a young girl with the same energies as her mother. The legend read CIRCUS OF CRIME, MAGIC, MISCHIEF, AND MERRIMENT! STARRING THE LEGENDARY ROGUES - THE CLINE FAMILY! WITH PASSION PLAYS TO SHOW THE TRUE MORAL WAY! The smell of horses outside, the sounds of activity; a circus in the middle of waking up for the day. It's another goddamned crisis in time! Richard Cline snapped awake alongside an altered version of his wife, dressed in a long black nightdress, and asked the question he had to ask. "...Baby, is that you?"

Freedom City University January 4, 2014 It was late on the night of January 4th when the alarm began ringing at Freedom City University's Physics Building; the clang-a-lang-a-lang of the old brass striker in the big red alarms located high above each of the building's original entrances. The campus was mostly quiet right now; classes weren't back in session and most students were still away lingering over the holidays with their families, and it was late enough that most of the people who used the campus for other purposes were home. Under dark, cloudy skies and a mostly empty, snow-covered campus, lit only by the ever-present glow of security lights, the alarms rang again and again - while dark deeds were carried out in the shadowed Physics building and a man's life lay in the balance.

Wakaya Island, Fiji Friday October 25, 2013; 11:33 AM local time (Freedom City time: 7:33 PM (Thursday October 24, 2013)) The late morning sun shone brightly in the sky over the small Fijian island of Wakaya. With the "cool" season coming toward an end, the day was turning out to be pleasantly warm, the temperature already approaching eighty degrees. Megan Howell glided through the water of the large infinity pool located on the spacious main deck of the large compound situated on the highest point of Wakaya. Dubbed Rai Ki Wai, Megan and Robert Howell had acquired the property a little over a month ago at a rather reasonable price, considering the size and quality of the property. This last week had been their first real chance to enjoy their new vacation home, other than a four day weekend back at the end of September. The decision to purchase the property with Robert had felt like something of a major move for the young woman. After all, it had only been about seven or so months since they had renewed their relationship, after nearly a year apart. Of course, Megan blamed that year apart on her on mishandling of things in regard to her identity as the superheroine Velocity. If she had not kept that a secret from Robert while they had been at Cambridge together, she was rather certain they would have recently celebrated two years together. Of course, the decision to purchase Rai Ki Wai together had also been made a bit easier by the knowledge that, at least in some timelines, she and Robert married. But that knowledge also came with the burden of knowing that in a number of those timelines (and perhaps even others where they did not marry), they had a son that would develop terrible powers. That possibility had made Megan consider not reconciling with Robert when he had initially indicated his desire to do so. But discussing the issue with a few fellow members of the Freedom League and their allies in the superhero community in Freedom City had convinced her otherwise. As she neared one of the stairs from the pool, the young blonde woman put her feet back under her, touching the bottom of the pool and standing back up out of the water slightly as she walked the rest of the way and up the stairs to the polished teak deck. Picking up a towel she had left nearby, Megan began to dry herself off as she made her way across the deck towards a row of lounge chairs overlooking the ocean. Seated in one of the chairs was Robert, the young English lord apparently in the process of making more edits to a paper he was to be presenting early next month at some scientific society he belonged to back in England. Unable to stop herself from smiling slightly, Megan moved over to take a perch at the edge of the chair beside him, running the fingers of one hand through his short blond hair. "You know, you have a long plane ride home early next week, not to mention several days once your back, to finish that up." She stated with a grin.

GM Post Liberty Park Tuesday, April 23rd, 8:12 PM The area roared in commotion, as all the people scattered through the streets, many leaving their cars unattended in their attempts to flee for their lives. The ship had appeared out of nowhere, a frigate with red and white sails, made out of wood and iron, like the ships of old. The masts and the sides of the ship were equiped with steampowered helicopter rotors, and the oars exuded what appeared to be bright powder and light. On the front, a giant lance was held in place, and in the back, propellers rotated furiously as they stirred the hovering vehicle. Freedom City was no stranger to such a peculiar image as that of an airship cruising through the streets and above the traffic, but an airship suddenly emerging in the middle of the road and commencing fire on buildings and such... now *THAT* was a cause for worry and panic. The ship's cannons blasted periodically, causing a deafening noise to thunder throughout the streets, and everything they touched, from buildings to people, disappeared, leaving only spherical holes in their wake. Both the police, the firefighters, and the paramedics, as well as other various disaster relief task forces were dispatched almost immediately, but they are still a long way away from the site, and even if they did arrive, it would be doubtful that they could contribute in any meaningful way, other than removing citizens from the immediate area. The airship continued to rain fire on Freedom City, as it finally made it's way to the park...
