  1. GM August 11th, Late Evening In a plane... Or more precisely, Mr Jonathon Hale, Esq, asleep in a Plane... Across endless icy plains, mountains, and beautiful bleakness...an Icebreaker was trapped. Steam poured out of engines, and whilst Ice cracked, it did not splinter asunder. Outside, Inuit and Europeans were hacking at the ice, desperate to move the ferocious ship. It groaned, full of Iron and Guns and Coal. And a black coated man with the biggest and blackest handgun one could conceive stood on the ship, bristling with frustration. The ship must break free! Seek it! Arnasaq woke him up. She was as quirky and beautiful as ever, at least to Mr Hale's eyes. A little older, a little wiser. And right now, rather worried... "Ladies and Gentlemen...please fasten your seatbelts and assume the crash position!" Screams and sweats poured forth from the passengers, who nevertheless did what they were told, and with great frenzy. As the Plane started to descend, Arnasaq pointed Mr. Hales eyes to the starboard wing, where one engine was smoking most alarmingly indeed. Below, the icy plains of Greenland, where Arnasaq had insisted they return for a break. And it look like a break was what they were getting. A quite different type of break. A piece of wing looked like it was going to break. And it did, splintering from the main wing and tumbling in a rather splendid arc, trailing black smoke.

  3. Player Name: Exaccus Character Name:Black Knight Power Level: 8 116/120PP Trade-Offs: -2 Attack / +2 Damage, -2 Defense / +2 Toughness Unspent Power Points: 4 In Brief: Inheritor of the mantle of the betrayer failsafe. Not Quite Up to Standard. Alternate Identity: Jonathan Hale Identity: Secret Birthplace: Wiltshire, England. Occupation: Unemployed Affiliations: N/A Family: Deceased Parents; Only Child. Description: Age: 18 (DoB: 1996, 10th of October) Apparent Age: 18 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian. Height:6' Weight: 150lbs Eyes: Dark Brown Hair: Black With sharp features and high cheek bones, Jonathan is somewhat handsome if bedraggled by his trials with fair skin and a pointed nose; he is somewhat q big boned young man with broad shoulders and a trim build; he might look older than he is to those who do not see him for long or with obscured features, possibly even then, till his trembling voice and doleful eyes reveal him for what he is, a mourning adolescent. Power Descriptions: The Celtic knot pattern that goes along the length of length of his sword glows with faint purple light when it is using its more obviously magical effects contained in his array. his armour though black as darkest night has a slightly opalescent sheen to its darkened metal that seems to flare when it thwarts attacks against him his portals are created by slashes in the air opening into swirling vortexes of purple and black that display the destination, his more personal transportations are much more subtle as he simply seems to disappear behind his own cloak in a spin, the garment collapsing into nothingness in his wake to reappear with him at his destination. this is little more than a theatrics on his part however and it is the sword that carries him. History: Born to an unsuspecting couple on a cold Octobers day Jonathan Hale, Son of Wilbur and Nikita Hale had lead a boring if slightly regimented life, sent to boarding school as soon as he old enough by parents he somewhat afraid didn't really want him around he had something of a good if distant relationship with them and eventually came to realize he was loved; It was still rather devastating when he was told they'd been found dead amongst the ruins of their small home in Wiltshire, Too young to access his trust-fund and too distraught by the death of his distant but loving parents to claim his inheritance and accept their deaths; bereft of a legal guardian the young man fell into destitution and deeper still despair; ejected from his school when his tuition ran dry he quickly found himself taken in as a John Doe by the government and given a small flat and stipend to live in; he's not quite sure how long he stayed there, the blank walls and eerie silence of the place was maddening and he barely registered the passing of time as he went about his day in silent introspection. That all changed one stormy night when, On an aimless walk around the streets at midnight; he noticed a large humanoid figure following him at a slow but steady pace, something in the very core of his being resonated as he set eyes upon the black cloaked form, its features Illuminated by a brief stroke of lightning revealed it to be what seemed a man in thick black armour sporting a massive great-sword in one hand; its mirrored surface glinting slightly in the faint glow of the street lights and lightning strikes; such a sight was more than enough to send his heavy heart into a terrified panic and his heavy legs running for safety from what he had thought an armed madman, not looking back so much as once till he had slammed and locked the door of his home behind him, it was needless to say quite a shock when he walked into his living room and found the figure there waiting in silence for him hands resting on the pommel of its weapon, now better illuminated and much closer it was somewhat easier to spot that the suit was empty once his mild panic attack had ceased and one tentative touch later revealed all to him in a rush of images and sensations. He had inherited the black mantle with the fall of his sire, he was to be the betrayer failsafe and strike down those whom would seek to wield Excalibur before the power could corrupt them too much and lead to the ruination of the world around them. Unfortunately or perhaps fortunately, Jonathan Hale was no warrior and in his first tentative sojourn against criminals ended with slight humiliation and failure, in part due to his inexperience with the powers now at his disposal and his unwillingness to deal out the draconian justice the sword urged, so now he finds himself seeking allies and perhaps get his life back on track and find peace with himself, if he doesn't fall in the line of duty as those before him have. Personality & Motivation Jonathan Hale is Still somewhat a child, clinging to the memories of his now dead parents and the desperate hope he was loved by them he upholds the mantle because he has inherited it from them more than anything else, his refusal to claim his inheritance stems from the worry he might have been disowned this coupled with the fact he was unaware of "the family business" leads him to feel outside of their issues. He remains however a good and selfless person who uses his artifacts of office to do what he thinks is best as best he can. Powers & Tactics unable to access the swords vaster array of powers due to his inexperience, he uses the power within aldonite in a somewhat simplistic way, namely as a really big sword with various effects, his tactics are rarely more complex than teleporting to flank and striking out at a hopefully surprised opponent. Complications "A Dark Omen": Those in the mystic know recognize the sword Aldonite and its bearer as a dark tiding, heralding the death of a beloved Leader, though mayhap not why. Sword of Damocles: Aldonite is somewhat sentient and highly opinionated able to communicate with its wielders and others who touch the blade through sensations and projected images and temporarily usurp the will of a unsuspecting wielder it is known to attempt to force situations to take the course it desires, being an artefact from a more draconian time this can lead to grave trouble; As he is infact a less than ideal wielder, Aldonite has a low opinion of the boy and will take direct actions whenever able over advising and counseling him; Partially due to disgust at his living in squalor at least till he has become of age and performed deeds worthy of his station as well as fulfilled the imperative; Securing an heir before his inevitable fall in battle after fulfilling his duty and laying low the wielder of the fomorian blade; Excalibur. Reviled By the Peers of the Realm: Being a literal black knight, that is to say a knight with no loyalty to a lord or king and not displaying his heraldry, other knights may look down on him as a brute and thug at best and a honourless dog at worst, this could lead to violence, Ostracization by communities in which they hold sway or in the case of particularly influential ones, more wide spread effects. Too Soon: Jonathan Is neither ready for the responsibilities that have been placed upon him or over the loss of his parents, finding himself easily provoked by those who bring them up and cowed by those more experience (Including aldonite on matters to which he is not morally opposed). Relationship: Jonathan has very recently entered into a casual romantic relationship with Arnasaq, a librarian he met whilst in Greenland; One of the few sources of comfort and support in his life there is very little she cannot cajole him into, a savvy criminal might do well to impersonate her, an extremely foolish one might threaten or attempt to strong arm her and draw a cataclysmic wrath down upon them self, with Aldonite more than willing to make use of this itself to coerce Hale into acting rashly and wielding its terrible power less reservedly . 5. 'The Shops' at Midtown sunday 9/13/2015 afternoon cloudy and cool 'The Shops' at midtown plaza were bustling despite the nip of the seemingly sudden turn to fall, shoppers weaved in and out of the high end boutiques and went about their shopping oblivious of the chaos soon to erupt. Despite the pricey nature of hte merchandise the Shops central location and friendly browsing policies made it a popular destination for window shoppers as well. In one sprawling outlet a somewhat out of place appearing group in beaten military surplus urban camo and black hoodies as they browsed the high end electronics on display. Those with sensitive hearing could make out the conversation and it didn't take much to notice security closing in. The smash and grab seemed a bit brazen for the locale certainly but from the taunting way one of the toughs held aloft the device as the sales person reached for it it seemed to be the goal.
  6. GM Post Calcutta, India 1892 AD "... which is why me and my Associates are very displeased with your policies in the Bengali province, Captain Ayres." The man in the red suit said. "We are invested in the proper development of the area, and quite frankly, your policies, appart from brutal, are in conflict with our interests." The man in the blue suit added. "Your objections are noted, gentlemen, I assure you. However, understand that I have to deal with a rebelion here, one incited by Korean spies who would sooner see India burn than have it prosper under Brittish rule. I've always acted on the behalf of the Company's interests, which I was given to understand were YOUR interests as well." Captain Ayres was very upset, but he held on. The men in the suits were hard to deal with, given that they always seemed to be wearing their expressions like a man wears a suit; fittingly, but it was obvious that the clothing was not an actual part of said man. "And that was why you chose to align yourself with Feng Huan Po?" "..." That had hit a nerve. Captain Ayres had taken the utmost of precautions to ensure that whatever dealings he had with Feng Huan Po remained under wraps. "Surely the governor-general isn't very appreciative of your alliance with a follower and representative of the Old Ways." "Feng Huan is... a necessary concession on our part. He ensures that the Chinese will keep to themselves, while also posing a significant threat to the Koreans from attempting an outright invasion." He tried to explain. The expressions of the two men warped, as they tried to imitate concern. "He is more dangerous than you realise, Captain. Feng Huan Po moves in circuitous ways, ensuring that his actions largely remain concealed from our eyes." "It is imperative for our plans that the people of Calcutta, and India in general, enjoy a secure, safe, and prosperous for them enviroment." "If you fail..." "... we will have to take action against you. Even if that means..." "... that the East India Company meets a premature end." "It is our hope that we have made ourselves clear." "If you think... IF YOU THINK THAT I WILL CAVE UNDER YOUR HOLLOW THRE-" "There is NOTHING hollow about our threats, Captain." "As your superiors no doubt have informed you, the Spanish once tried to dare us into action." "You ARE aware of the Battle of Gravelines, aren't you?" "Heed our words, Captain Ayres. You are walking a very thin line as it is." "Do not cross us." "..." The Captain remained further silent, as the two men took their leave. Their warning was clear as a day. However, the Captain remained undeterred in his resolve to proceed with his plans. "If the East India Company is the sacrifice needed to ensure 'our' future... then so be it." He silently mouthed. He knew that forcing the two men into action was tantamount to challenging god's wrath. So that was why... Present Day, Freedom City Tuesday, June 16th, 2015 Midday, 14:35 The tears closed as soon as they opened, and everything they enveloped vanished completely. Sometimes, other random stuff would emerge from those energy swirls. Not only where they fast, the tears appeared at random places, from the City's center to Parkside, from there to Hannover, then the Great Bay, Lincoln, Riverside, Ashton, and Southside. The tears would continuously open and close in each of these areas for approximately an hour, before moving on to another place. This had been going for the better part of the last day, with reports of similar phenomena accross the country. The superhero community were as stumped as the scientific one, about what was going on, much less its cause. Thankfully enough, though, the tears didn't seem to affect humans, so barring a few indirect injuries caused by the odd falling piano, there was very little cause for panic. The news made sure to keep updates of this peculiar phenomenon, keeping the citizens informed of the tears' current emergence location. Last sighted, they'd appeared in Kingston, while for the last 10 minutes, they seemed to start appearing over at West End.
  7. The Hunter Museum of Natural History, Freedom City 10:00am, 23rd February 2015 With a silent roar the skeletal head of the dinosaur popped out of the door just behind those fleeing the museum. It snapped lazily at them as they leaved, not showing any particular desire to show them harm. A few students had to been gently hustled away from such an amazing sight. With a final push it freed itself from the museums wooden door and stood on the stair marble stairs looking around with empty eye sockets at Freedom City.
  8. GM December 1st, Alabama Something was rotten in the fields of Alabama. They may have been fallow over the winter, but weeds and mushrooms had been plaguing one farmer, Hank Hicks, who was scratching his bald head. "I don't understan' it!" he complained to his farmhands. "The field is infested, ah say, its infested!" he said, plucking up a particularly putrid and poisonous mushroom. To his ill. Blisters formed on his fingers even as he spoke, making him drop the fungus. "Its that them sci-en-tist, came round with his fertilizer last month. Said it was h'ex-pear-hemental. Said anything could grow on the field after that. Guess he was right, after a fashion. I'm still gonna kick his ass when I see him next..." "Yeah...kick his ass!" laughed the farmhands, shaking pitchforks and hoes in unison. One week later, Alabama... The Black Knight appeared, in the midday sun, in the fields and folds on Alabama, with armour and sword in hand. Something here poisons the earth! came the scream from his sword, although who screamed it and how...would be a mystery. The stones of Stonehenge had called him once again. They had felt some unruly force in the earth. All stones were connected, somehow, and here, in Alabama, there was a stone circle of native american origin, undiscovered, covered in moss and roots, but present still, for those that knew of it. The Black Knight was disturbed to note sickly mushrooms and rotting moss on the ground beneath him, a sickly toxin that reddened his flesh...

  10. GM 1st December, 2014 Stonehenge...United Kingdom... He was a ghost. Faint to the eye, yet with a chill, hard to see and yet with a howling wind behind him, he walked out of the Circle of Stonehenge with slumped shoulders and heavy foot. He was dressed in furs, with grizzled long hair and a grizzled long beard. Whilst he was hard to see, his eyes were pure black, and saw everything. "So, you felt my echo through the years and centuries? This place is a place of power, where such calls are spoken, and such calls are heard. Where time and space are with little meaning, but spirit and blood have much..." The Ghost stood stood tall, proud and grim in front of the Black Knight, who had heard the call on some deep level. "Something rises and stirs in the cold north. My kin who died there rest uneasy. I would have your help, for honours sake, the bones of might warriors should not be spoiled..."
