  2. GM Post Neo Harare (of the former Congo Republic), PAU. 4216 AD Neo Harare. Brilliant Capital of the People's African Union, the second most influential power bloc on Earth, and the 4th most influential power bloc among the United Earth and Colonies Federation for the last three centuries. One week ago, it concluded the hosting of the Games of the DLXXXI Olympiad, celebrating humanity's achievements throughout the passage of time. Now, the city, along with its citizens, can only stare in abject horror, as the entire Advanced League of Oceania was being rapidly reduced to ashes. President Alphonse Massamba-Tchicaya conferred with the Azure Champion, the world's strongest human alive. "... and we have no word from the rest of the United Freedom League?" Though he remained composed, the Azure Champion couldn't help but take a sudden, swift breath as he recalled losing contact with them, when they arrived at the ground zero. "I'm... sorry, mr President. I'm affraid that we lost contact with them, same as all other heroes who went up against the new weapon the Reformists are fielding." "And we are sure that it can-" "Mr President." The Azure Champion cut President Tchicaya. "You have seen the destruction this weapon has wrought. The so-called Destreamer is the genuine article." Tchicaya seemed to hesitate. The Azure Champion knew what was in the President's mind. It went against everything they stood for. Against everything humanity had fought for, since time immemorial. "Loathe though I am to suggest it, maybe you should consider their terms..." "And have our people used as pawns for their Xenophobic policies?" Tchicaya burst out. "Our people died in droves to fight off the last organization that saw fit to subjugate the rest of the galaxy! Surrendering to the Revengers would not only be a betrayal of our humanity, it would spit on the graves of our ancestors, our ancestors' ancestors, and so on!" "... And if you don't surrender... there will be no one left to feel ashamed." "..." Slinking back on his chair, the president let out a sigh. "What would you have me do, old friend?" The Azure Champion smiled softly, as he flew outside the open window of the Governmental House. "... I will attempt to attack their headquarters. I will gather any hero who's still active, and make for a last ditch effort." Turning his head towards President Tchicaya, he said. "May the Goddess guide you through." A flurry of flashes, the residual energies from the weapons unleashed, kept the night sky alight, as the Azure Champion hastened away. This battle, that shook the very foundation of the Earth, posed threateningly as merely a precussor to what was about to follow; an unfolding of events that would send ripples throughout the history of mankind... Present Day, Freedom City Monday, June 15th, 2015 Evening, 20:10 It started abruptly, without warning. Tears in the fabric of reality started popping left and right, in a seemingly random pattern. For the last hour, Parkside has been riddled with this randomly occuring phenomena, as everything the tears touched seemingly disappeared into nothingness. Then, the tears would close, only for new ones to pop back. Soon, various news outlets arrived at Parkside, making reports about this peculiar incident, and it rapidly became apparent, from the national news, that this wasn't limited to Freedom City; plenty of cities across the American continent were being bombarded by the Tears, albeit within a limited area. As the Tears persist, the first few heroes arrive at the scene...

  4. April 3, 2015 9PM It's springtime in Sapporo and the tourists have departed. The winter season that brings so much snow to this city of nearly two million has ended, bringing an end to the snow sculptures and snow festivals, and the cool moist spring has settled in comfortably here on the shores of Ishikari Bay. The big news in the city today is the recent beginning of baseball season - the famous Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters are playing a special exhibition game with the visiting Freedom City Comets, who themselves are on their way back to Freedom City tomorrow to begin their North American season with a game against Detroit. The 40,000 seats in the Sapporo Dome are packed with local fans and American "super-fans" from Freedom City who have flown in for the special game, many of them following the usual Freedom City pattern of wearing exaggerated superhero costumes alongside the usual Comets merch. It's a big day, and much to the delight of the home crowd, the Fighters are pulling ahead of their American antagonists. (The team's rivalry is old and arcane, as the best sports rivalries are, dating back to the early days of the Comets franchise in the 1950s when they clashed with the visiting Nippon-Ham Fighters in the West Coast of the US) Outside the rest of the city is bustling along quietly, though the cool, wet fog that's settled over most of the town tonight has kept many of the usual late-Friday-night crowd home or at least inside their favored establishments. Fishing is big here and you can walk into a local restaurant to find freshly-caught sea urchin, salmon, or crab on the menu, or perhaps the famous local jingisukan lamb barbecue. From the taller buildings in town you can see the mountains rising off to the east. Hokkaido has been 'tamed' since the late 19th century when American experts helped the Japanese government exterminate much of the local wildlife during the Meiji period, but at night when the Moon rises over the distant mountains of the island, glimpses of the old Hokkaido can be seen in the forest beyond. Inside the stadium, it's the seventh-inning stretch; a good time to wander up to the concession stand and get a beer or some soup curry, or maybe just sit in the stands and curse that bastard Kataoka and his murderous right arm. Errors by his own team have meant that the Nippon-Ham Fighters pitcher hasn't quite thrown a perfect game - but he's come close! The Comets have kept the Fighters dancing too, but the score is 18-9, and the Comets are going to have to pull off a miracle to win this one!
  5. GM The Island of Valaxa Indian Ocean Saturday, August 16, 2014 4:27 PM Thirty years ago the island of Valaxa was discovered by an Indian fishing ship. Since then researchers have made various attempts at attempting to bridge a relationship with the local population to no avail. The presence of outsiders has been met with violent resistance. The Valaxans have even managed to sink entire ships to make their message clear. With ritualistic dancing and whooping afterwards in open celebration. Earlier this morning to avoid an incoming storm a commercial plane took an alternate route flying over the island. A local Valaxan actually flew off the island and smashed a wing wholesale. Sending the plane crashing down below. It wasn't long before local air authority lost contact with the plane. And an emergency scramble quickly took place. When a local expedition team was led to try and recover the plane they too were met with resistance. The timely arrival of the heroine known as Triakosia prevented the second plane from being shot down. In the process she managed to capture a Valaxan and both parties were able to reach a consensus and arrange a sit down meeting. Shortly afterwards the Freedom League was contacted and agreed to send in two representatives to help smooth things over all the easier. Currently, the trio of Gabriel, Triakosia, and Velocity were on a Freedom League Pegasus jet with a group of sociologists who had been preparing them for their upcoming meeting. All waiting for the signal that it was okay for outsiders to land on the island for the first time in its known history.
  6. December 25th Continued from >Mind Over Matter Fast-Forward was back on the streets of Freedom City so fast he barely had time to grab a candy cane from a department store giveaway as he made his way to his first destination. It was evening New Jersey time when he appeared at Dancia Devons' front door in Lincoln, where his super-speed knock sounded like a machine gun's rat-a-tat before he slowed himself back down (and sped everything else up) until once again he was in sync with the normal world. Knocking firmly, he called, "Dancia Devons! Dancia Devons!" When she opened the door, the Discovery Channel personality on Dancia's doorstep said without preamble, "Scarab needs you to save the world from robot psychics from space." He glanced around quickly to make sure no one was in the hallway; luckily her neighbors were all still enjoying their Christmas. "How quickly can you get to Puerto Rico?"
  7. Ditko Street Wednesday, August 13th, 2014 6:32 PM Another workday done. The question was whether or not he'd have to work the evening as well. Kyle Steward made his way through Riverside, stopping to bask in the summer heat. The good news about his workplace was that it wasn't exactly a gigantic bastion of professionalism; the bad news was he still had to wear long-sleeved shirts every so often. Fortunately, he'd managed to shuck the shirt and go in just a T-shirt. The sun was just starting to dip down, but it was still somewhat hot and humid. The iced coffee was helping, but there was still a ways to go. All in all, though, things were peaceful. Steamy, sweaty, and crowded, but peaceful. There was a cool breeze kicking up under the muggy air, and it promised an interesting night. It was enough to cause him to almost get lost in thought. And then the shrieking started. The first eruption happened right next to him, in a car pulling into a parking space. The driver lost control, colliding with the car in front of him. Then came the radio at the newsstand down the street. Then the PA system at the nearby coffee shop. Soon, the entire street was awash in cacophony. Through the bursts of distortion, Kyle could hear words... but they weren't in any Earth language. He tapped his bracelet, hoping the sight might go unnoticed amongst all the chaos. The language filtered into his ears, swiftly translating. It was Lor, and although it was garbled, he could make out a few pieces. "Alone... fallen... help... dead... dead... stranded..." And all across Freedom, the static spread, erupting from every device attuned to radio waves. Repeating the same request...

  9. GM Friday 2nd May, late afternoon... The offices of the Ledger... "Hey beautiful, can I buy you dinner?" Marcus Lane was his name. He was a young man with chiselled looks, a mop of slightly unruly blonde hair and bright blue eyes the female staff often swam in. He wasn't the best dressed, the tallest or the broadest guy in the building, but he had a natural charm and cheekbones you could chop vegetables in. At the end of the week, the staff were winding down after five gruelling days of writing and reporting. Marcus was high on coffee, as always, and never stopped smiling or running low on gas. He thrust a takeaway cup of Dancia's favourite beverage into her hand. How did he know what to buy? A bit of observation, a bit of interest... "I know this great Thai place, just 10 minutes walk. I'll buy!" he added, confident and bristling with energy.
  10. Wednsday, July 30th 2014. Silberman's Books. 10:00am Maybe she should have waited until next week for the grand opening, but Lynn just couldn't imagine making it through the weekend on pins and needles, so she just took a deep breath and opened the store in the middle of the week. Things would be a bit bumpy, of course, but that was to be expected with any new endeavor. Just to be on the safe side, she decided to have >her full staff for the opening, on the off-chance there were any actual crowds; back in the day, her grandfather's store had been something of a local fixture, and that was before Lynn's decision to add a full espresso bar and food. There was a good chance she was deluding herself, but better safe than sorry; she could always send some folks home early if it came to that. She turned a gaze over her team; they were all wearing brand-new brown aprons with the 'Silberman's Books' right across the front, and they all looked eager and ready to go. Well, except Cred0, but that was to be expected. For herself, Lynn was trying to look as relaxed as possible in a pretty summer print dress and well-worn pair of cowboy boots. "You guys ready?" There were nods all around; the brand-new proprietor lifted the dark ring up on its lanyard, kissed it for luck and dropped it back down her dress before turning the bolt and swinging the door open. "Good morning, and welcome to Silberman's Books!"
  11. Deep Space Sitting in the dark of space was the massive swathes of star forming gases glowing the most beautiful blues and purples lit but the very stars they were helped forming. Being light years across the craft that stood on the edge of the nebula seemed tiny, even though it was itself the size of a small city. The stark white hull of the saucer like object looked that it was made of a single flawless piece of ceramic. Inside the craft was a small room the wall being opaque lighting the room with a blue glow from nebula beyond, the room was also filled with cryogenic gases from several pod opening up in the room revealing several Earth heroes groggily woken from an unexpected cryogenic sleep.
  12. Triakosia Player Name: Tiffany Korta Power Level: 12/15 (250/250PP) [268] Trade-Offs: -2 Atk/+2 Dam Unspent Power Points: 0 In Brief: Another survivor from a dying Earth is sent safely to ours, except things didn't go exactly as planned... Alternate Identity: Dancia Devons Identity: Secret Birthplace: Pax Roma Occupation: Reporter Affiliations: None Family:None known Description: Age: 129 (DoB: 18th April 1885) Apparent Age: 33 (if applicable) Gender: Female Ethnicity: African American Height: 5'11" Weight: 180 lbs Eyes: Brown Hair: Brown The costume that Dancia wear is familiar to most people of Freedom City if not the world it is the blue and yellow made famous by the Earth mightiest hero Centurion. On closer inspection there are several major differences, the jumpsuit she wears is a darker blue with padding and texturing to provide extra protection, this also give her the appearance of a much more sculpted physique than she really does. The breastplate an greaves are darker, almost bronze in colour, and made of high tech materials with almost no weight to them. Power Descriptions: The exposure to cosmic energies that she received during her inter dimensional journey have radically altered Dancia's body down to it's very core. Super resistant and strong she has no need to breath and doesn't feel the heat or cold like others. Not only that but can also fly and operate at inhuman speeds. Her senses have been similarly affected with her able to see and hear things well beyond the range of normal humans. History: When the Terminus invaded the world of Pax Roma, a high tech world where the Roman Empire never fell, Centurion was sent safely to Earth Prime. But his father wasn't the only one working on the possibilities of Inter Dimensional travel in a secret Imperial laboratories a rival of his was working on exactly the same technologies. When the invasion came the laboratory looked to help halt or at least stall the forces of Terminus, but as it looked more and more likely that the battle was lost the scientist turned there attention back to the inter dimensional device. Though untested and uncalibrated there only chance was to send someone through to find help from another world, or at least warn them of the threat of terminus, the facility lack the power or time to send more than one person to possible safety. In it unrefined form that machine would put incredible stresses and strains on the traveller, so it was decided one of the Centurions of the CCC (Triakosia) Legion would use the device to fetch possible aid. To a man and woman all of the cohort volunteered, despite the risks, and so lot was drawn. Dancia was the lucky winner so dressed in her Legion armor she stepped into the machine. The machine worked but its design was imperfect and Dancia was lost in the Void between world for almost ninety years before she finally arrived on Earth Prime, following in the wake of Centurions journey. Half dead from the travel Danci collapsed on arrival to Freedom City and spent six months in a coma recovering from her journey. All the while she under the protection of the Freedom League who kept her a secret in case she was another duplicate sent to fool people. When she awoke Dancia could remember nothing before arriving in Freedom City, beyond a random set of conflicting fragments of memories. Despite the best efforts of some of the worlds best psychologists and telepaths she still cannot remember any details of who she was before she arrived. Once fully recovered and determined not to be a threat Dancia was given a new identity of Dancia Devons and supported whilst she found her place in the world. She seemed drawn towards a career in journalism and with her new identity she earned herself a job on the Freedom Ledger. Granted right now it's collecting stories for the paper website, but it gives her the freedom to both pursue the kind of stories that could make her career and help people as a superhero. Personality & Motivation: Whilst Dancia will never hesitate to use her powers to help protect people from harm, she doesn't think of herself as a true hero. She incredibly modest as to what she can do and doesn't think she quite measure up to other heroes in the world. She's a difficult person to get to know well but she a stern and serious young woman focused on becoming the best at whatever she does, whether in her day job or her time as a hero. Powers & Tactics: Dancia's first instincts when faced with a threat is to make sure that innocents are kept away from any possible danger, if she can she'll draw the danger away from them or failing that remove them from any potential harm. Only then when everyone is safe will she turn her attention to defeating the enemy, even if that means taking a bit of a beating Complications: Who am I?: Dancia has no memory of her life before waking up in Freedom City. Not knowing who she is Dancia is prepared to go to almost any lengths to find the truth. Once I was...: Even worse in her time in the void she somehow absorbed memories of different lives all her alternatives. Not know which is true she could be convinced that one of these could be the truth. Touched by the Void: Travel through the void has left an indelible mark on not just her physiology. It also left a signature that seems to draw creature and people who have travelled through that place towards her, and it's generally not a pleasant reaction.
