  1. Soooo...This will be @Ari's domain, honestly. But! Get your postin' muscles ready, @Thunder King and @Vorik! https://www.freedomplaybypost.com/topic/10624-like-a-wagon-train-out-of-hell-terminus-invasion-2018-ic/
  2. July 10. 7 PM. Freedom City. Southside. The city was a battleground. Omegadrones in the sky. Heroes everywhere. Broken glass and shattered buildings. Bodies in the streets. Doom had come to Freedom. Naturally, the civilians needed to get out of town. Equally naturally, there was zero chance they’d make it without a heroic escort. The convoy was big. Several buses and a multitude of private vehicles. Obviously, it wasn’t the only convoy, with Freedom being a city of literally millions. Heroes were spread desperately thin by the invasion of the Terminus, leaving only Prism and Mannequin to protect this particular convoy. Things had been relatively quiet. They had been noticed by Omegadrones, but other heroes had taken them on allowing the convoy to get across the river. It kept happening, too. But for now, everything was quiet as the vehicles rumbled down into the Southside to the trainyard. Planes were a no go, as Omegadrones could blast them out of the sky with little effort. And the highway had been jammed since 2. So, trains. Just had to get to the depot.
  3. Milennium Park, Chicago. August 26th. Around 1 PM The Cloud Gate. The g-d Cloud Gate. It had been the big reason that Corinne wanted to come, well that and Sue at the Fields museum. She looked upon it rapturously, her fingers gliding over the surface. "It's... beautiful." Turning her head, as she looked at Hannah, under from under her straw pork pie hat, before she went back to gazing at it. She was dressed lightly for the hot, somewhat stifling Chicago summer. A denim vest over her Joy Division Unknown Pleasures shirt, and a skirt that matched the vest, and a pair of canvas sneakers. It was easy to tell that works of art could pretty much derail Corinne, as much as food could. She had been slightly anxious, about asking Hannah if she could swing by for a weekend in Chicago. Her folks had swept through, she was contending with getting ready for of the start of the school year, and she needed away from Freedom City. From Claremont. From that. And, well Hannah was the closest thing she had to a friend. She had a hard time gauging it, so Hannah was her friend. That was that. It felt good to have one, after being devoured by dance for so long. "This is just... wow."
  4. Friday, May 26th 3:40PM Main Lawn, Claremont Academy Team Industrial Light and Magic were under a tree, reading and studying. Besides her book back, the tall blonde had brought a bag of snacks as well as her hedgehog Percival, though he was curled up in a pocket. She was sprawled, wearing a a vintage AC/DC 'Thunderstruck' t-shirt under her acid washed coverall shorts, and a pair of floral tights underneath, her sandals off to the side. A book in hand, as the other held an apple that she was munching on. She had recently dyed her hair, making it an admix of faded blonde and pink. After some time she sets the book down, carefully on her chest, over the pocket where her hedgie was, and she lifted her head up to look at Hannah. "Do you ever look at the science textbooks, and just say 'Well I violate this law. And this law, and this law... Are they just guidelines more than rules?' Because I am having that right now." Hannah's roomie was often taking these little asides. And she was still fulfilling her efforts to drag Hannah outside as often as their schedules permitted, even if it was just coffee or smoothie runs.
  5. May 17th 2PMish. Girl's dorm, lounge area. The staff had told Hannah who her roommate would be for next year. The daughter of the hero Asad. Well, they didn't tell Hannah who she was related to, but the gossip mill had started, and Corinne's parentage, and everything else was preceding her. To her chagrin. Given her large gap of experience regarding all of this compared to some others giving her a roomie was the best bet. And Hannah, being the kind of person she was, felt like the best choice. Corinne just... nodded along to it. She was waiting in out of the lounges in the girl's dormitory. She was people watching, and slouched in the chair which sort of hid her height, as she had on a faded band t-shirt for Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, with her denim jacket, short denim cutoffs, over a pair of plain black tights, and her short teal sneakers. She wasn't thrilled at this, but... really... she wasn't mad. She was numb. In shock, and she hoped she didn't make Hannah mad because she was out of sorts.
  6. Player Name: Thunder King Character Name: Prism Power Level: 10 (150/161 PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent Power Points: 11 In Brief: Ordinary teenage girl with the power to summon color shifting energy constructs and blasts Alternate Identity: Hannah Cooper Identity: Secret Birthplace: Chicago Occupation: Student Affiliations: Claremont Academy Family: Jacob Cooper, father; Mary Cooper, mother; Jacob 'Jake' Cooper II, brother; Laura Cooper, sister; Ashley Cooper, sister; Peter Cooper, brother; Samuel 'Sammy' Cooper, brother Description: Age: 16 (DoB: February 24th, 1999 Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height:: 5'2” Weight: 115 Eyes: Blue Hair: Brown Hannah is short, slightly out of shape, and somewhat nondescript. She has shoulder length brown hair that she keeps neat and out of the way. Most of her clothes are hand-me-downs from her sister Ashley, and thus a couple of years out of style and not fitted for her. What she's gotten for herself tend to be various hoodies, which she tends to wear unless the heat is too severe. However, she has bright blue eyes and a warm smile. Hannah's costume is light purple, loose and comfortable top and pants with a hooded cloak and a simple face mask. She also wears a tactical Kevlar vest her parents bought her before she went off to school and completes the outfit with a pair of sturdy, practical boots. Power Descriptions: Hannah produces blasts and constructs of colorful energy of a cosmic origin. For reasons she doesn't understand, she has no control over what the colors or patterns of her blasts are. The colors range from vivid and garish to muted and subtle, and she has no control over that either. The energy she produces can take the form of cloud-like formations to laser-like beams, but her constructs are consistently crystalline and translucent in appearance. History: Hannah Cooper was born the fourth of six children to a family in the suburbs of Chicago. Her oldest brother is a moderately successful professional football player, while her oldest sister is attending Harvard Law. While she has a loving family, she's always felt buried and overlooked. Her plan for her life was pretty typical, high school, college, marriage, children. The same kind of life she had always expected and wanted. In January of 2015, though, her powers awakened. She kept them a secret for the most part, but practiced with them whenever she could. She struggled between the typical life she'd wanted and her super powers. She had no interest in a life of heroism, but she felt a need to understand them. One night in April she traveled into the city of Chicago. It was dangerous, but she was driven to do it by her need to understand her powers. Her plan was to get in touch with a local hero. Hopefully someone that could help her understand her powers. The person who noticed her, Iron Maiden, couldn't help her, but she did have contacts. Iron Maiden's idea was to find a hero that could take Hannah under their wing and teach her how to use her powers. Iron Maiden promised to be in touch, and for three weeks, Hannah didn't know what was going on. When she received contact from Claremont, it was both better and worse than she expected. Part of her wanted to stay home, ignore her powers and live the life she expected. However, she felt drawn to understand her powers, and so enrolled. Personality & Motivation: Strictly speaking, Hannah doesn't want to be a superhero. She wants to learn how to use her powers and make sure they're controlled. However, in practice she would never walk away from people in need. She knows she can use her powers to help people. She's far more about helping people than punishing criminals, but she also knows her powers can hurt. Powers & Tactics: Hannah generally uses her constructs to control the battlefield, often isolating villains from potential victims. If she's alone, she uses blasts of energy to drop them quickly to end the fight with minimal harm and casualties. If she's working with others, she often uses her powers to support her allies. Complications: I don't know who this Prism is...: Her identity is not public knowledge, and she likes it that way. Um, no, not me: Hannah has a mild case of social anxiety disorder. When forced into the spotlight she is liable to make mistakes and seek to get away. Big Family: Hannah is the fourth of six children, this may cause her problems. 7. Robin waited until Fred was out at the lab as she didn't want to worry her roommate with the implicit rulebreaking that was about to occur. Briefly, she felt guilty for leaving Fred behind but the young woman was still adjusting to life in this century and Robin thought that taking her to what was sure to be a rather sketchy - and probably illegal - venue was not likely to help matters. She paused to leave Fred a brief and uninformative note before she headed for the door on quiet feet. Robin fished the tattered flyer out from her pocket - having snagged it during the last weekend in the Fens and began picking her way through the hallways towards Raina and Cathy's room. Glancing up and down the hall to make certain there were no lingering RA's, she knocked on the door. "Hey, we should go if we want to make it. Also before anyone catches us heading off campus." As this was so very not a sanctioned field trip.
  8. GM Tia Martia's Restaurant West End, Freedom City, New JerseyFriday November 13th, 2015 6:00 PM The benefit of privatized High School experience meant the teachers did not have to abide by standardized testing curriculum that came with being state funded. The downside? When Jesse Perry was your Creative Writing teacher he expected only the best out of his students. Having been assigned together as a writing group for professor Perry's finals next month, four students had found their way to Tia Martia's to begin a brainstorming session of how exactly they were going to wow their teacher. Tia Martia's streak of being one of the highest rated restaurants in the city continued unchallenged. The family style servings a popular choice among the teenage crowd. And it was easy to appreciate the Spanish and Italian blend of food not being coupled with lavish decorations trying to sell an "authentic" Spanish or Italian experience. Instead the diner had a modest appearance. Giving off a feeling of being inside someone's dining room.
  9. While it was not common to be summoned to the Jasmine Summers Administration building in the middle of a weekday it was rare that it was for accolades. Thus when the tight lipped RA passed off the notice for Winnifred to attend a meeting with the Headmistress it was to say the least some cause for concern. There was no specific mandate for the girl to attend alone of course either so it hadn't taken much thought for Robin to volunteer to join her for the short walk to the imposing building and found the young ladies awaiting the appointed meeting in the spacious foyer where a kindly receptionist informed them Ms. Summers previous meeting was running slightly overlong and they ought have a seat. It didn't take long before a younger student, attractive in a blond girl next door kind of way sat opposite them and smiled prettily as she stared at the pair rather unguardedly without saying a word.
  10. Location: Currently Claremont, later the Fens Date: 9/19/15 It had taken minimal cajoling, surprisingly to Robin, to coax extra bread and peanut butter from the staff that handled Claremont's dining service. It had been worth the somewhat sad-eyed look she'd gotten for the small trash bag of sandwiches she had slung over her shoulder like an odd Santa's sack. Ho ho ho. Robin wasn't quite sneaking out of Claremont. It was the weekend, after all, and they were allowed to leave and return home. Of course, Robin's home was more of a zip code than a street address but nonetheless, she was antsy to get back to it. The Fens needed her, Robin was convinced of it and nothing, likely including an act of God, could probably sway her from that opinion. Robin shouldered her backpack onto her shoulder, trash bag of sandwiches in hand. She was about to head out towards the gate when she paused at the Lost and Found box to poke around in it. She never took anything from lost and found that was important or valuable, but when she found two sweatshirts with logos plastered across them, she collected those too, bundling them under one arm and heading for the gate directly, clearly not making eye contact with anyone on her way on foot towards the school gate.
  11. September 1, 2015 10:00 AM The first day of class was a day or two away, but the faculty always managed to give the students enough time to settle in. In a cruel move of mother nature it was unfairly hot. Humid. It was like nature was taunting the soon to be slaving over a desk students of Claremont. Even with availiable pools and air conditioning, the weather would keep a student in a summer mindset. Sakurako wasn't one to complain. She hovered over the Academy testing out a new bouy system. The bouy itself floated in the larger pool, sending back info on the water, any vibrations, etcetra, while Sakurako was tethered to a balloon as she experimented with transmitting wi-fi across the campus. She wanted to make sure the system would work when she did her extension courses with a local Oceanographic organization. From her vantage-point, her red and white balloon stood out, although with Sakurako's recently wreckless streak in science and engineering was expected, and she usually had enough fail-safes to prevent property damage. Which would be needed today. *PAFF... TSSSSHHHHhhhhhh* She looked up and saw one of the struts to the light frame of the wifi-transmitter punctured and tore into the balloon. Her weight would not help matters for everything to make a safe landing. Extra internal airbags aside, she would need to remove herself and quickly. Grumbling she pulls a toggle and cuts away from the damaged balloon and in moments is under a parachute as she drifts towards the front of the school. Seeing her balloon was going to land into a empty athletic yard harmlessly near the school, she breathed a sigh as she landed herself. What she didn't realize is the first shipment of new students were showing up at the front drive, just as she was unceremoniously poking her head out from under her parachute. "Ohhhhh boy. Some first impression this'll make."
  12. Freedom City Historical Museum September 7, 2015 It had been nearly a full week since most of the new students had moved into their dormitory rooms at Claremont Academy but to say the acclimation process had been going smoothly might have been a bit misleading. Fortunately enough the school's headmistress was known for her impressive foresight and instead of their normal classes the sophomore students of the girl's dormitory were ushered onto a bus and carted off for what was as much a team building exercise as a field trip. As roommates Raina and Cathy had already been partnered up in the 'buddy system' as had been outlined by the students' chaperone in an explanation that had been as cheerful as it was unnecessary. As the girls were assigned to groups for the day Robin and Hannah joined the familiar faces from their first day, the latter being given a sheet of questions about various exhibits that the quartet were to find answers for by the time they had to leave. With a friendly - if slightly condescending in Raina's opinion - reminder to keep a low profile so far as metahuman powers went they were left to their own devices by the sprawling scale model of Freedom City, circa the early 1900s.
  13. The OOC! A perfectly orderly trip to the Historical Museum where nothing noteworthy will happen, clearly.
  14. Friday, August 28th Chicago Illinois Hannah Cooper was only a little nervous. Ashley would be watching Peter and Sammy for the weekend. Took a bit to convince her to stay and watch them, and a little bit of money. None of that really mattered to Hannah, before long she'd be on her own in a strange place. She was scared, and more than once her mom tried to talk her out of it. Well, that wasn't quite true, mostly her mom just didn't want her hurt. Superheroes lived dangerous lives. Chicago didn't have many of them, and Freedom City had hundreds. Alien invasions centered on it, all sorts of crazy things happened there. Hannah was steadfast, though. She wasn't going to allow anyone to talk her out of it, even if she was nervous. She needed to understand what her powers were and what they could do. If she didn't do that, she might hurt someone, or herself. Or even accidentally cause a bunch of property damage. So they'd gone to orientation, and she saw the city for the first time. They didn't have any time to really enjoy themselves there, or see the sights. She did get an idea of where she would be staying and what was around the school, which was a good thing. She was a lot less scared knowing that Claremont looked a lot like a typical prep school. Though she suspected the superhero insanity wasn't obvious.
