  1. GM March 5th, Around Lunchtime And around Lunchtime, Marjorie Doors was most productive. For those dear readers who do not know Marjorie Doors, she was some kind of administrator in the Freedom City University, and a busy little body she was too (although not so little). Marjorie Doors lived alone and loved cats. And loved snooping and gossiping even more. Now, Ms Doors was not productive for most of the day. At least in a conventional sense. She was extremely productive at looking productive without actually being productive (a lamentably common position in most organisations). But around lunchtime she did her favourite productive thing which was offer out cookies to the students in return for gossip. "Would you believe it!" she told Robin, offering her a double choccy woccy chockity chock cookie with a side helping of choco-choc fudge sauce. (Yes indeed, Ms. Doors liked chocolate as well as cats. It would be a simple thing to get her on your side by simply offering her a chocolate cat). "Anna Armstrong! Poor thing! She had a seizure. In hospital now! They say she got sick whilst working for Neutron Industries! All sorts of nasty, they are...terrible safety record. The lawyers are pouncing around, trying to get her to litigate. So she should, I think! Disgusting place, Neutron Industries. I bet they have immigrants working there!" Ms. Doors didn't like immigrants. Immigrant cats might have been acceptable, but only just. Anna Armstrong was a PhD student in nuclear physics. A tall, lanky blonde girl of twenty two who was pretty smart. Robin vaguely knew her - a determined, intelligent woman who was generally well liked. She had gone to do some work for Neutron Industries, and came back quite sick.
  2. The Gas Man (Tier 1 NPC) Character Name: The Gas Man (Brad Bilker) Power Level: 7 Power Points: 105/105 Trade-Offs: +1 Attack/-1 DC, +1 Defence/-1 DC Unspent Power Points: 0 In Brief: Bounty Hunter who stays just inside the law. Ish. Description: Age: 45 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Male Height: 5’11” Weight: 95Kgs Eyes: Brown Hair: Grizzly White - Brown Brad is getting on a bit, but still in excellent shape, with a grizzly, battle-weary kind of appearance. He has a couple of scars and a slightly broken nose that are testament to his profession and history. He usually wears paramilitary type gear, although is not opposed to a more casual look if the job requires it. History: The Gas Man was a marine, and a good one. Very good. Served his country, did his job, saw plenty of action. Liked the action, didn’t like the pay. He was one of the many soldiers given vaccines against chemical and biological agents (ill researched and the subject of many litigations thereafter). He was fortunate, however, as he was the only soldier to develop complete and absolute immunity to such hazards thereafter. Jacking in his career, the Gas Man uses his newfound immunity and military skills as a bounty hunter and mercenary for hire. He has plenty of contacts, and is well equipped, but not smart enough to capitalise on his fortune. His one natural talent is the ability to somehow slide into just the right side of the law, even though his methods, whilst not lethal, are pretty questionable. Powers & Tactics: The Gas Man has developed complete immunity to chemical and biological agents. Combined with his military training and gathered equipment, he will drop gas grenades onto his bounty targets, being completely immune himself. Personality and Motivation The Gas Man is a somewhat burnt out figure. He thinks he has been hard done by, and should get his just rewards. His is basically amoral; meaning that he has no real desire to commit crime or hurt people, he just doesn’t really care much – or at all – about others. He does however have some loyalty or at least respect to those with military backgrounds. Whilst not particularly intelligent, the Gas Man does have a knack for staying inside the law – or at least largely sliding free from legal consequences of his actions. For instance “I didn’t deliberately gas Mrs Smith, I just happened to drop one of my grenades by accident…” He does get in trouble of course, and he is constantly fighting to maintain a reputation and his business, but somehow the Gas Man keeps on gassing… Abilities:6 + 2 + 6 + 0 + 0 + 2 = 16 Strength: 16 (+3) Dexterity: 12 (+1) Constitution: 16 (+3) Intelligence: 10 Wisdom: 10 Charisma: 12 (+1) Combat: 16 + 16 = 32 Initiative: +5 Attack: +8 Grapple: +11 Defense: +8 (+4 Flat Footed) Knockback: -3 Saving Throws: 3 + 5 + 4 = 12 Toughness: +3/+6 (With Vest) Fortitude: +6 (+3 Con, +3) Reflex: +6(+1 Dex, +5) Will: +4 (+4) Skills: 52R = 13 PP Climb 4 (+7) Craft (Chemical) 2 (+2) Craft (Mechanical) 4 (+4) Drive 4 (+4) Intimidate 8 (+9) Knowledge (Streetwise) 4 (+4) Knowledge (Tactics) 4 (+4) Medicine 2 (+2) Notice 4 (+4) Sense Motive 4 (+4) Stealth 4 (+5) Survival 4 (+4) Swim 4 (+7) Feats: 20 Connected Equipment 18* Improved Initiative 1 NB: Equipment given is as an example or standard. 3. GM Friday Mid Afternoon, June 3rd Starbase Coffee Southside A blend of pleasant coffee aroma swirled in the air. It was hot outside, and a pervasive kind of dustiness filled the air, a precipitation of pollution and sweat. Nobody was feeling very energetic, despite the caffeine. And at this time of afternoon it was never that busy. And today it seemed positively quiet. A trickle of the tired, a line of lethargic. Jack Longwheel ordered his coffee. It was full of cream and milk, and Jack Longwheel did not mind. He had given up trying to control his ever expanding waistline years ago. Jack Longwheel was a hack. He covered gossip and covered corruption. Neither of these topics had earned him many friends. It had earned him money, and a lot of fines. Most recently, he had been nearly broken by publishing accusations on Neutron Industries unclean energy. Accusations that were, all agreed, probably true, but unproven. He was a regular, Jack. A cynical man in his fifties who knew too much but like a dog with a red rag, couldn't quite let go. He knew "Buffy" stein. Every friday, like clockwork, about this hour. "The regular, ma'am. And a one way ticket to Hell on the side please..." he sighed. "God the things I hear...." he mumbled under his breath. "I'd Jack your Job in and sail to Hawaii, if I was you. Don't want to be stuck in Freedom City this weekend!" he said. He wiped his brow. Rotund as he was, Jack Longwheel did not normal have cold anxious sweat. He did today.
  4. GM April 20th Freedom City Sewers... The Secret hideout of the mysterious "Marie" Over the least 24 hours, Freedom City had had brown outs. The Nuclear reactors on the east coast had all reported glitches and power failures, and many were operating on reduced output, or even shut down whilst maintenance tried to work out what the hell had gone on. It was not enough for Marie. "that Uranium-7 pulse should have knocked them all out!" she spat, her eyes glowing a furious green. The hideout was not too shabby, with running water and power, but it was cramped. Modesty was impossible. The computer was piecemeal but functional, and Bonfire had access to all his electronic resources. Including an interested journalist, Casey Cutter, an underground, streetwise, anti-corruption investigative journalist with several limbs, if not her entire being, in the criminal underworld. Casey worked for The peoples eye, a left-leaning TV investigative documentary programme. EMAIL: Casey.Cutter@Thepeopleseye.com >>You got yourself in hot water!!! Video camera shots, not looking good. Everyone talking about terrorism. Bet there is another side, huh? How about an interview? Somewhere remote. Got a friend at Lantern Hill, graveyard. Should be safe there. Man of the cloth. Meet up and let me tell your story?
