  1. GM Medical Examiner's Office London Borough of Hackney, Greater London, England Wednesday, April, 1st, 2015 4:15 PM There was an old expression. "Why does the Regents Canal run through Hackney? To avoid getting shot." Known as one of the most crime-ridden areas of London, Hackney's reputation was not entirely ill earned. Drug dens and shootings weren't entirely uncommon. Arsons were for their part far rarer outside of riots. After the fifth in a recurring series of fires resulted in the death of four people in the borough, the London Fire Brigade reached out to the Ministry of Powers for assistance. Sending Foreshadow and Ulysses as representatives of Vanguard to the local medical examiner's office. The building was clearly understaffed with dated technology. The ME in charge of the case, Dr Benjamin Martins, a balding man in his mid forties. His face showing signs of aging in a rough stress filled career. His assistants were actually a set of twin women in their mid twenties. Red haired with Scottish accents they were hard at work sterilizing the equipment. "This body is a most curious affair." Medina Family Manor Bristol, England Wednesday, April, 1st, 2015 6:00 PM About three hours away (four taking into account London traffic) in reputable bristol were Dee Farrington and Agnus Stone. The Ministry of Powers had received word that the Medina Family, a prominent Spanish family who earned their fortune through cattle ranching, had smuggled computronium through the black market. As they couldn't just outright accuse a reputable family of explicit dealings. A matter of tact was needed. Using Dee's familial connections the pair was able to swing invitations to a big bash the Medinas were throwing in their Bristol manor. Currently sitting in the back of a limo making its way to the steps of the estate. Dee an Agnus were moments from making their grand entrance. Their driver was the only backup that the ministry could afford to provide the ladies. Not that they needed any. Adrian Jobert, a former UNISON agent. He was a muscular black man of French descent. Possibly from Guadaloupe, they weren't sure. in fact Dee and Agnus had seen him around the Ministry once or twice, but their familiarity with the man was limited at best. However, with the ongoing restructuring it meant that the dame afforded him a level of trust. "Mademoiselle Farrington et Mademoiselle Stone. The Ministry has seen fit to outfit the vehicle with all the amenities. The ear bud communicators are of limited range, but if you need my assistance simply ring."
  2. Moscow, Russia Approximately 10000 miles above the center of the city Monday, February 2nd, 2015 1:14 AM Foreshadow's last trip to Russia ended with him uncovering a >secret soviet conspiracy to win the Olympics with yet to be resolved complications. Dressed to the in full costume, Foreshadow was currently leaning outside of the open side hatch of the plane. Thousands of miles above the city of Moscow. "I still think this is a bad idea." An all too familiar reservation from the pilot called out. His pilot was an alcoholic that couldn't even find stable employ with a PMC groups. Mohammed Azzam was a veteran of the Soviet War in Afghanistan. A man whose sacrifices for his country did not end in the war when he stepped on a landmine left behind by the Soviets. Both his leg and arm were metallic replacements crafted by the local ASTRO Labs equivalent. And he was the last person who felt comfortable "borrowing" a stealth plane to sneak into Moscow air space. "Your reservations are noted. Your payment has already been wired." Foreshadow's words were followed by the act of him leaping out of the moving plane. Diving down towards the Russian capital. Armed only with a parachute that hadn't been maintained since the late 1980s. It was the sort of night Foreshadow lived for. When Erick Sloane popped up on Interpol's most wanted, he was inconvenienced. When Erick Sloane was flagged at the London airport as a domestic terrorist, he was a little irked. But, when an assassin showed up at his adopted father's home Erick Sloane was beyond outraged. Of course, David could more than take care of himself which gave Erick a starting point. It took a lot of effort to track down the source of his troubles. A long winding road that made one thing especially clear. Someone in Russia had it out for him. Someone knew he was Foreshadow... His recently established ties with Vanguard meant Erick had someone he could call if he needed assistance. A thought that had crossed his mind many times. There are just some things you need to do alone. Things like sneaking into a country with some of the harshest prison conditions on the planet. * * * Even at 1 AM, the hero's descent into the city was a public affair. But, none of the witnesses who claimed to have seen the lone man parachuting into the center of the city ha managed to snap even a picture. Even fewer could place the direction he had run off towards. The acrobat had wasted no time in donning his disguise. Dirtying himself up he looked like a poor brown haired (hair dye was a wonderful thing especially water soluble die) tourist with a large lack of money. Just the sort of person a local hostel would gladly take in. Erick was counting on the fact that whomever was after him would be alerted to his public entrance to the country. While at the same time he needed to blend as quickly as possible. Though a single assassin had been sent to David's place. There had yet to be a large out and out declaration that Foreshadow and he were one in the same. His foe was either sitting on the information or the fallout was instead a revenge motion due to his costumeless taking down of the Doctor and the Sleeper's olympic plans with Dee. Either way Erick was set to get to the bottom of this whole thing. The rest of the day was spent socializing with the other patrons of the Hostel. Kristoff, as Erick had taken to calling himself, was a mouthy lad that mostly kept to himself when not preaching about the environment or new age mumbo jumbo. Essentially he was a walking stereotype of the typical 'skipped college to save the world' youth that one could always be sure to find at a hostel. Notable only in his ability to annoy the other patrons.
  3. GM UNISON Headquarters Geneva, Switzerland December 25, 2014 10:50 PM local time Just a few hours ago, UNISON headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland had been practically deserted, only a minimal security detail and a few technicians had been on duty, the rest home with their families for Christmas. That was until Colonel Ellis had been contacted by the Freedom League about an approaching threat from space. In the intervening time, scores of UNISON personnel had been called in, the headquarters now abuzz with activity as UNISON personnel were reaching out to contacts in governments and militaries around the world, as well as preparing itself for the possible arrival of a hostile alien force. Over a decade ago, UNISON had shocked many world leaders, when it had fielded a small fleet of space capable heavy fighters, the Uni-Storm, during the Grue invasion of 2003. Since that time, Colonel Ellis had managed to hold off efforts to decommission the Uni-Storm, which mean that UNISON had under its control a majority of Earth's space capable combat aircraft. The pilots for the fighters were still being brought it, and gearing up and receiving briefings for possible sorties. The mechanics that had been brought in were working as fast as they could to get all the fighters ready should they be needed, with more arriving all the time. Things were much further along than if there had been no warning, but they still needed a bit more time before they could get all the Uni-Storm into the air. During the past few hours, a number of even more unusual individuals had arrived at UNISON’s headquarters, as a group of superheroes from across Europe and the United States had arrived to offer what assistance they could. With Colonel Ellis' former connections with the Ministry of Powers in the UK, it was only natural that the current members of the Vanguard were present. Also present were two national heroes from countries in southern Europe, Professor Chiron from Greece, and Stella d'Argento (the Silver Star) from Italy. A pair of heroes had also transported to Geneva from the United States, sent by the Freedom League to assist as well. Currently the gathered heroes were with Colonel Ellis in a large command center in the center of the headquarters, where UNISON technicians were tracking activity all over the world as various militaries began the process of preparing themselves for the possibility of an attack, and keeping an eye on the telemetry coming in from numerous satellites and radio tracking stations on Earth that were scanning the heavens for signs of approaching ships. "So as of right now, we need about another half an hour to have all the planes ready to go into combat if needed." Ellis stated to the gathered heroes. "We can probably have half of them up in about twelve minutes, perhaps a bit sooner. As for the military units around the rest of the world…well, they are trying to mobilize as quick as they can, but this is probably about one of the worst times for such an attack in terms of the number of personnel away from base with friends and family."
  4. Jameson Airport North Freedom, New Jersey 2:24 PM Wednesday November 26th, 2014 Normally when Erick Sloane was speeding through traffic at break neck speed it was while narrowly avoiding gunfire in pursuit of some sort of mafioso. Today, he was actually combating traffic for an entirely different reason. He was running late and it would be a tight squeeze to arrive on time. Erick had somehow found himself oversleeping despite normally pulling late nights. His barely street legal Porsche 918 was put to the test as it raced to the airport to pick up his guest. Erick didn't want to leave her waiting at Jameson of all places, as it was less of a rest stop than Jordan International. If not for the likelihood of attracting attention to himself, he would have taken his new even fancier mode of transportation. But, there was plenty of time to show that off later. One rushed car ride later, with thankfully no police stops along the way, Erick found himself on the edge of the curb waiting for incoming arrivals. There was a brief moment in which he felt like an overly expensive taxi as he looked around the curbside pickup. Searching for the VIP guest he had invited to spend the holiday with him. Did your flight get in? If he was waiting on someone else he might've considered texting or calling first.
  5. Southside, Freedom City, New Jersey Friday April 4, 2014 11:31 PM The weeks since Foreshadow had encountered some of the shadowy mystery man's men and Sureshot in Southside had been busy for the costumed crime fighter. The continued disruption of the status quo in areas of the neighborhood had kept him busy, trying to help curb the violence that was erupting between displaced gangs and other criminal elements. Some of his time had also been spent in trying to track down leads on Doctor Zero, the former Soviet superspy that had evaded capture during the incident at the Winter Olympics. There had been a few more brushes with the mystery man's men, who were well trained and equipped in comparison to those being displaced. But none had brought Foreshadow any closer to their boss than the prior ones, the crime fighter's normally reliable post-cognitive abilities continuing to fall short. And so he had needed to continue to focus on the more traditional methods of investigation to try to make some headway. Foreshadow had managed to track down the source of the military grade weapons the mystery man's men were using, Grigory Salnikov, an arms dealer with strong ties to military units in several of the breakaway Russian states. But knowing that Salnikov was providing the arms and ammunition was one thing, actually finding Salnikov himself proved to be yet another difficult task. But persistence and determination eventually paid off for the costumed vigilante, and he had learned that Salnikov was attending a show at an underground nightclub in the area of Southside that bordered the Boardwalk. And so Foreshadow sat on a rooftop a couple of blocks from the site of the underground show. The building was an old, multi-story warehouse. Most of the windows had been boarded up or painted over, making it hard to see what might be going on inside. The event could be using any one of the many floors, or maybe even a good number of them. A small crowd was gathered around what had once been the back loading dock for the warehouse, with several large bouncers there to control when people were able to get in. Foreshadow could see a number of other security personnel on the rooftop and at one of the corners of the building he could see from where he was.
  6. Silberman's Books The West End, Freedom City, New Jersey Tuesday, November 4th, 2014 11:16 AM GM Inside With the holiday season in full swing, Silberman's Books was looking at an upturn in their clientele. The morning had been so busy that Lynn hadn't had a moment to get off her feet with the curious flow of customers. There was one oddity though. A town car had parked directly in front of the store during opening hours according to Kiki. The passengers of said vehicle had not left the vehicle. But, there was the occasional noticeable stare in the storefront's direction. If the vehicle wasn't the sort the rich and priveledge would rent out for travel, one could reasonably surmise they might have been casing the store for a robbery. As it were, they were just creepy. Lynn noticed a Porsche, pull up behind the town car before her view was obscured by a lanky teenage boy with unkempt hair and poorly folded clothes. Shuffling his feet, the boy would open his mouth to ask her a question. "What sort of horror books do you have?"
  7. November 1, 2014 Frances Psion swore up and down she had nothing to do with the mysterious fire in Blackstone's psychiatric wing a couple of weeks ago - but given her powers and her penchant for scrapping with prison security personnel, the Blackstone authorities haven't been inclined to take any chances. She's gotten into trouble with inmates too, trouble enough that there have been some very nasty threats against her life (and other things) made inside the prison compound. The Psions have been scrapping with villains for years and Ember had always been the Professor's fist; a sadistic brute whose fiery punishments were great at striking fear across the villain community. In jail, in power restraints, she's just a short woman with a strange accent, reddish-blonde hair and skin tanned a faint, perpetual orange. She's being transported to lockup in upstate New York, where she'll be held for the next few weeks until the repairs to Blackstone are finished and her safety can be guaranteed. After that, she'll start what may be the first of many trials sometime in the beginning of 2015. Surrounded by two heavily armored female prison guards, she's in power-nullification shackles and a Blackstone orange uniform that she wears like a badge of honor. She's not talkative today; instead staring out the open window she can make out past the guard on her left, her eyes hooded as she looks out at the clouds overhead. Among the passengers on this particular flight is someone very special - the second Foreshadow, a special consultant who has experience dealing with Ember Psion and her ways - as well as an ability to foresee the future. For this prisoner, with the escape attempts that have already happened, that's a very good thing. - Stronghold is in the air, soaring high above the clouds! It's cool and crisp this high, with only her ring's power saving her from an icy coating and hypoxia, but that's okay - it's a beautiful day and the clouds are the sort of light, fluffy things that in cartoons would be like big balls of cotton candy. Nearby she can see what looks like a Lear Jet zipping through the sky, but she's an experienced enough flyer by now to know how to handle herself around civilian traffic. It really is a beautiful day. - Back in Freedom City, it's Richard and Paige's day off - as well it might be, given that it's Saturday! Holly has begged her way into another viewing of Maleficent, and Will has blessedly volunteered to save his parents from yet another showing of a movie they've seen no less than four times now between the two of them. Christie had pulled some strings and gotten a prison-band radio for them to monitor Frances' flight, and occasionally in between house-cleaning they listened to the check-ins and all-clears from the pilots - who were now safely in the air.
  8. GM Cairo Midday September the 5th Egypt. Land of culture, history, and Gods. And right now, political upheaval was rife. But this is where Doctor Zero's experiments had started, back decades ago into the cold war. It seemed that whenever Doctor Zero and the Sleeper where involved, politics was a storm. Between Synapse and Foreshadow, the trail had twisted, turned, and obscured. But it had lead here, Cairo. And in particular, a Professor Zaki. Professor of history and politics, who had looked most carefully at President Nasser's allegiance with the Soviet Union. He had strong suspicions that the Soviets - and Zero in particular - had used Egyptians as guinea pigs in developing Darwin X And in some sweaty coffee shop in a dusty Cairo street, he waited for the pair...
  9. Okay, the OOC for our >thread. HGM, could you give me a Notice check please.
  10. Southside, Freedom City, New Jersey Saturday, March 15, 2014 9:45 PM Over two months had passed since the day after Christmas incident in the Fens, in which Foreshadow had been outwitted by the shadowed figure that appeared to be behind the recent arrival of a new criminal group in Southside. Two months that had included a great deal of frustration in trying to learn more about this mysterious figure, although it had also included a For once, Foreshadow's occasional glimpses into the future had failed to bring him any closer to the mystery man or the key elements of his organization. Somehow the shadowed figure on the DVD recording, who had hinted at precognitive abilities of his own, had managed to say just one step ahead of the costumed crimefighter. As a result, Foreshadow had found himself having to focus much more on traditional methods of investigation to try to gain a lead. The expansion the mystery man (and Foreshadow was sure it was a man after playing the recording through various programs to try to and determine whether something had been done to disguise the voice) had managed to achieve thus far was sufficient to put a good bit of pressure on other criminal groups that were not just outright eliminated or displaced. One of the groups that was starting to feel the pressure was one of the area's street gangs, the Shoreline Gangstas, and according to information Foreshadow had been able to obtain (with a bit of convincing) they planning to stage a hit on one of their rival, the Los Tiburones, tonight, in the hopes of wresting some ground from that group. Beyond wishing to intervene to try and prevent the sort of spillover harm that could often accompany such violence, Foreshadow had to wonder if the opportunity to simultaneously strike a at two such groups might be an opportunity the mystery man did not want to pass up. So Foreshadow was sitting on a rooftop in a rundown section of Southside, right on the border with Lincoln, watching a house where members of the Shoreline Gangstas were starting to gather before they set out.
  11. GM Saturday night, 2nd August... The High Steaks was a sleek, upper crust joint, even amongst the casinos that it loitered in. It was not, technically, a casino. Its lower level was one of the finest eateries in Freedom City, new, fresh, modern with a classical twist. Or classic with a modern twist. Its steaks were the finest in the City, perhaps the country, Perhaps even the world. Expensive as that was, it was dwarfed by the real money. Overlooking the dining area was the top table, where the finest food was eaten, the finest wine drunk, and the most exclusive poker table in the City stood. Millions were lost, millions were won. Tears were cried, and joy was sung. The balcony of the top table stood over the high steaks, and had a view over the city. THe High Steaks was a tall glass building. A few years back, it had been home to a Vampire Attack although nobody really knew if this was a legend, a myth, or the truth. It seemed the myth had done business no harm, anyway. The High Steaks fed on anxiety and excitement. And tonight was the grand prize. Nobody knew what the prize was, for sure, although gossip flew this way and that. Whatever it was, some big guns had arrived for the game. The rules were simple: Winner takes the prize, and the seller took all the money that was brought to the table. The more money you brought, the more chance you had of winning. And some major organisations and wealthy individuals had brought a lot of money...
  12. GM The private and very spacious residence of Donald Ritchey Southside, Freedom City, New Jersey Monday, June 9th, 2014 7:08 PM Donald Ritchey prided himself as a self made man. Growing up with nothing, he started his own construction company at the tender age of 16. A lack of formal schooling did nothing to stunt his success, as Ritchey offered a level of dedication few competitors could match. As the times changed so too did Ritchey Construction, now named Ritchey and Sons. In the 80s Donald Ritchey sought to provide a better life for his family, getting into bed with questionable elements of Freedom City's organized crime families and one of the first side business that Big Al could count as his territory. The business remained independent enough that even the likes of Augustus Roman couldn't get a stranglehold on it. Which ultimately might have been one of the focal points in Big Al's rise to power after the power vacuum left behind by previously leadership. After forty years of building his construction empire Donald has recently been diagnosed with terminal leukemia. With little time left to live Donald Ritchey has decided to make amends for his prior sins. Agreeing to testify against his many current mob connections. Making the stipulation clear that he would have. The Federal Marshalls tasked with keeping his family safe were assassinated by what could only be described as a squad of ninjas before transport was even feasible, with Ritchey only surviving thanks to the timely assistance arrival of armed police escort. Now the city finds itself scrambling to provide discrete protection for the Ritchey family, before information could get out about the current risk to their key witness in a pending trial against key members of the Driogano family. No amount of discretion prevented information from seeping through. With a few heroes being drawn to Donald Ritchey's sprawling Southside mansion to volunteer their services.
  13. Posted Today, 12:09 AM March 15, 2014 Blackstone Prison 8 PM "Congratulations, Number 01337, you're going out 24 hours early!" The thump of the Blackguard's truncheon against his glassed cell door caught Breaker's attention. A trio of guards, flanking a convict Flynt hadn't seen before, were standing outside his cell with keys and transfer equipment in hand. "Number 03314 here managed to get herself out of the psych ward overnight, so we're putting here in here and moving you upstairs a day early. You'll like it up there, Number 1, just make sure you don't go outside till your parole clears. It's colder than Hell out there." The new prisoner, a woman with a close-cropped prison haircut, met Flynt's eyes with a truly murderous glare (the kind he'd gotten a lot in and out of prison); the swollen-up bruises on one side of her face a testament to whatever brawl had gotten her back in gen-pop overnight. She couldn't talk, not with the bite guard in place, but she did not look happy to be taking his spot - their power nullification gloves about all they had in common. --- "Fascinating, simply fascinating." Down in the reactor room, Richard Pasaphan, architect of Thailand's planned Royal Prison for Extraordinary Crime, was taking furious notes as Warden Drummer spoke. He'd been friendly enough upon his introduction to Crimson Tiger, the legacy heroine who was the most prominent Thai hero active in Freedom City, but for the most part had spent all his time soaking in the tour of the most famous super-prison in the world. "All right, I think we're ready to go upstairs," said Drummer as he led them out towards the elevator, he and Pasaphan talking a mile a minute about the logistics of super-prisoner containment. Crimson Tiger had gotten the full tour as well, but it was obvious she was just part of the local color here. --- Precognition was a funny thing, as were psychic powers in general - what else could have led both Foreshadow and Mindsteel to the same windswept island on the same cold, gloomy evening? Of course, for heroes like Arrowhawk, it wasn't psychic powers that steered you along but pure instinct...
  14. GM Friday 7th February Sochi, the Winter Olympics 2014. The air was unseasonably warm in Sochi, casting doubts upon the logistics of the game, but spare snow had been stored, and was being hauled to the slopes. The mood was reasonably bouyant, with spectators both domestic and international looking forward to the herculean efforts of the olympians. Of course, the tourist industry was in full swing, with every type of food and drink being plied, and a rain of tourist tat to take home, place in the back of a cupboard, and stay there unseen for decades. There was a heavy and intimidating police presence, thanks to terrorists threats. And, some might say, to the possibility of demonstrations against the Russian governments policies over homosexuality. There was to be no marring of the festivities with contreversy, at least as far as the officialdom was concerned. One police officer was on edge. Sergeant K was smoking heavily. His revolver was hidden from view, under his armpit, but he always found it uncomfortable. Plain clothes policing in Russia could be a nerve wracking business. Shoulda brought a shotgun...he said to himself, between puffs, thinking of his favourite American film. He had good reason to be nervous too, given what he had found out. There was sweat on his forehead, despite the cool air. What he needed was someone to help him, and get him the hell out of Russia. An american tourist, well connected, plenty of money, and capable. He had considered approaching the American athletes, but they were too close to the problem, he judged. One wrong word, and boom... A palpatation in his chest. He visibly jumped at the thought...
  15. The OOC for >this thread. HG, go ahead and put up a Stealth roll and a Notice check.
  16. The Fens, Freedom City, New Jersey Thursday, December 26, 2013 10:40 PM The day after Christmas, a light layer of snow still lay over much of Freedom City. The holiday light still glittered in the nighttime skyline of the city. Down in the Fens, the festive atmosphere was considerably more lacking. Out on the southeast section of the Fens that jutted out into the South River, large sections stood black and shadowy under the bright lights of the city. Foreshadow was currently crouched on a rooftop in one such shadowy block of that section of the Fens. While most of the city was still recovering from the day before, the city’s criminal element was not quite so complacent. Tonight however, Foreshadow had a particular agenda. Over the last month, the cowled crimefighter had heard rumors of a new group moving into parts of Southside. There had been some violent confrontations with some of the existing criminal element. But so far Foreshadow had been able to learn very little. But then an hour ago, he had had one of his premonitions and knew that he should come to this part of town. Unfortunately, he was not completely sure what he was waiting for.
  17. OOC for >this thread. No need for initiative during this portion. None of them are within view at the moment. And yes both the doctor and the free clinic are references to Dr. Mid-Nite.
  18. GM Doctor Charles Cross Medical Center, Lincoln Thursday, December 12th, 2013 7:16 PM Lincoln had never been known as the most affluent neighborhood South of the Boardwalk. The hardworking residents who made up the majority of its population were often overlooked in favor of the contrasting number of gangbangers whom called the place home. In reality Lincoln was no more predisposed to crime than the rest of the of the district South of the river. Many business were dedicated to bettering life for the residents in the area. The Doctor Charles Cross Medical Center was just one of those facilities. A free clinic that had been operating since the 70's dedicated to providing health care to those whom couldn't otherwise afford it. Currently it was run by the thirty six year old Beth Cross, whom before inheriting the family practice served as a surgeon for the Kingston Community Medical Center. The facility especially saw the most use during the holiday season when people had the time to actually find out what the ailments they were ignoring for months meant. The run down looking clinic was covered head to toe with christmas lights in honor of the festive season. Unfortunately, for the past thirty minutes the christmas lights had been paling in comparison to the amount of headlights from the police cars. It had only been an hour since a group of six masked men had seized control of the clinic. Holding it hostage after their demands for medical supplies were met with a silent alarm being tripped. Foreshadow and Graft had arrived while the police where setting up their barricade and proceeded to sneak inside unseen. An impressive feat considering how much of Graft there was to see.
  19. November 17, 2013 Port Regal Providence Asylum Dotted with cheerful statuary of frolicking cherubs, its rose-and-sandstone facade visible from miles away, the warmly lit and well-tended Providence Asylum looks like nothing more than a giant strawberry wedding cake - it's an excellent place for Freedom City's mentally ill to recuperate from the challenges of their disease - what kind of person puts an insane asylum in some Gothic hellhole, anyway? Between Claremont training, patrolling, and the occasional help with a mass breakout, the heroes Wraith, Crimson Tiger, Blodeuwedd, and the second Foreshadow were all familiar indeed with the building and its contents - which made a summons to the rooftop for a meeting with the ever-mysterious Raven all the more intriguing! The night was dark, and cold, but dry for Freedom City in the fall, with a crisp bite in the air to mark the cool weather to come. Though security at the Asylum was famously tight, making breakouts almost impossible, sure enough (just as promised in the message conveyed to them by the Dark Detective's agents) it seemed particularly light tonight - there were gaps in the spotlight coverage and the cunningly concealed electric fence was actually deactivated, thus making it possible for a canny foursome to make their way not just to the building but to the very angel-dotted rooftop at its summit!
  20. Foreshadow II Power Level: 15 (250/250PP) Effective PL: 12 Trade-Offs: +2 Defense / -2 Toughness, 5 Attack / -5 Damage (Unarmed) Unspent Power Points: 0 In Brief: Acrobatic legacy to the Foreshadow name. Alternate Identity: Erick Sloane Identity: Secret Birthplace: Freedom City Occupation: Student [London Business School]/Investor Affiliations: Vanguard Family: David Sloane (Adoptive Father) Description: Age: 22 (DoB: Born 14, February 1993) Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian (Of Russian Descent) Height: 5'11" Weight: 172 lbs. Eyes: Blue Hair: Blonde Erick is 5'11 which is quite a deal taller than the average male gymnast. As such his muscular physique is lean far more than it is bulky. Scuplted in such a way to favor the explosive moments of a gymnast with a maddening lack of body fat. Erick's medium length hair sits reaches his shoulders comfortably maintaining a professional appearance. His blonde hair is complimented by piercing blue eyes. Erick maintains a regular level of stubble across his face. As the Foreshadow, Erick dons a modified version of the original outfit worn by David Sloane. Being a realist Erick's costume is lined with multiple body armor inlays, due to the fact that as fleet footed as he is chances are he's still going to take on more hits than his mentor. Instead of a cowl his hood is draped down in such a way as to cover a domino mask. His uniform is also outfitted with a utility belt with multiple compartments to house the equipment he uses while on the job. Off which most is already carried inside of his multi purpose escrima sticks. Lastly Erick's multi purpose Escrima Sticks are usually kept holstered on his right leg. History: At only ten years of age Erick was considered a child prodigy ready to take the gymnastics world by storm. Of course, all the implications and hardships of said talent at an early age came with the title. While the demanding sponsors and incessant reporters weren't so bad because he could leave them at the door. His parents and coaches, however, were an entirely different story. Every moment of his life followed a set schedule down to the minute and he hated it. The fact that they opted to home-school him so he could maximize his time practicing routines didn't help. He couldn't count how many times he wished for his parents to just go away so he could relax for a day. That was until the incident happened. Late one night while Erick was undergoing his studies, a drugged out mobster armed with a flame thrower had been cornered by the costumed detective Foreshadow in the alley behind the boy's home. In a moment of desperation and beginning to hallucinate, the mobster started setting the area nearby ablaze. Which in turn was the very tragedy Foreshadow had been attempting to prevent when he cornered the man. Letting the villain escape, Foreshadow instead began to attempt to try and calm the ferocious flames or at the very least save anyone who hadn't already escaped as soon as the fires started. As sounds of the clash and the faint smell of smoke filled the night air, Erick's parents ran downstairs to see what all the commotion was. Something that Erick made no move to stop, as it actually meant he'd have a schedule free moment in his life. It didn't take long for them to note that the first floor of their home was engulfed in flames. Unfortunately, the foundation had already taken quite a beating and the stairs collapsed from under them as they turned to try and get their child out of immediate danger. Hearing a loud crashing noise, the now terrified and confused Erick decided to go after his parents only to see the horrible state they were in at the remains of the stairwell. He wanted to help them, he wanted to scream, he wanted to something. Anything. But he couldn't. Erick couldn't even move, he was paralyzed in a state of shock. To this day he doesn't remember the details of how Foreshadow rescued him from the burning building. Erick only blamed himself for what happened to his parents. His head was quickly filled to the brim with thoughts such as, "If only I were quicker"or "If only I had stopped them from going downstairs." Sympathizing with the boy's plight and blaming himself for failing to prevent the deaths of the his parent's, David Sloane did the unexpected and took Erick in. An ordeal that was a bit difficult with various coaches claiming that they wanted to adopt Erick. It was inevitable that David would have to reveal his identity as the costumed detective Foreshadow to the child if their new arrangement was ever to work. Foreshadow swore Erick to secrecy, and in exchange he trained the youth in the many talents that he used in his costumed identity. Despite agreeing to train him, Foreshadow outright forbid Erick from joining the fight against crime in the Southside at least until the youth finished school. Having enrolled him in public school. As such, Erick spent the next six years of his life with relative normalcy. He quit competitive gymnastics all together and just did the regular teenage thing. Not counting the training sessions with Foreshadow of course. The youth had also come into his own money having invested the money from his sponsors with Rath & Stromsberg upon David's advice. He also graduated from High School early at the age of sixteen solely so he could round off the start of his career by training his talents visiting many of the same locations David Sloane did as a youth. It also gave him a chance to tie up some loose ends and closure with the man he was originally supposed to grow into as he competed (and dominated) at Worlds. Shocking many whom didn't expect him to be in condition to compete after withdrawing from gymnastics competition. Having returned to Freedom City, Erick dipped into his personal fortune to pay his tuition in full as he enrolled in FCU. Moving into a private penthouse within looking distance of the Atlantis hotel and casino, he reached out to a childhood friend, Alaina Zelichonok, revealing his intention to operate as a costumed vigilante and needing her help in the purchase and development of equipment. Omen's venture into superheroics has already earned him the ire of the Freedom City Mob just by wearing the same emblem as his mentor. During the events of the Day of Wrath, Erick found himself badly injured barely scrapping by a victory with the robotic replacement of Foreshadow. Upon the real Foreshadow's return, both men had to come to the realization that after all his years of crime fighting David was beginning to miss a step. Even if it was time for him to retire, the Southside needed a Foreshadow, and David thought Erick was just the man for the job. The only stipulation would be that Erick would have to undergo training with an acquaintance of David's. Erick agreed to the terms and began a training regiment with Gilles Gordeau a master Savateur. Unfortunately, she had a busy schedule (being a criminal and all) and left in the middle of their training leaving him weekly instructions through a private podcast. Deciding it best to move from the penthouse, Erick opted to buy a mansion near the marina. The location would be a strange one if the man's focus was solely to lie in the South, but he was far too ambitious to settle on cleaning up crime in just one part of the city. That ambition would almost cost him his life. During his first run in with an assassin known as Jade Spider, Erick found himself eviscerated at the waist. Erick barely escaped the assassin in a closely contested brawl over the rooftops of the city. But it was clear he needed immediate medical attention. Barely able to drag himself back to the manor, the young hero lost consciousness on his own doorstep. Where David was already waiting for his arrival. Due to the tremendous amount of blood Erick lost in the brawl a blood transfusion was needed. Luckily, David was a compatible donor and all too willing to give up his blood to save his adopted son. The treatment carried on throughout the entire night with many a close call in terms of Erick's health. But in the end he survived. When Erick came to he received his first vision much to the surprise of all present. The blood transfusion somehow being the catalyst for activating some latent clairvoyant ability. Personality & Motivation: Erick is quite relaxed and even when on the job he's known to be chatty and crack a joke. Unlike his mentor, he's more than willing to work with others than David Sloane was. In fact Erick Sloan is a downright social butterfly. Relying on his social skills to gather information from local underworld personalities almost as often as his precognitive gifts. Part of Erick's attitude actually has do to his gift of Foresight. He has taken it to translate into feeling that he is armed with the knowledge that he will always come out on top. Erick fights the good fight simply because it's the right thing to do. Filled with a passion for life and a desire to make a difference, every time Erick dons the Foreshadow costume he's ready to go to work. A bit of an adrenaline junkie, Erick loves crime fighting perhaps a bit too much. His enjoyment of risk taking almost borders on recklessness. Which is why he keeps himself grounded by remembering why he dons his domino mask in the first place. More than anything Erick wants to make sure no one else has to go through the pain of losing their family because of the criminals in Freedom City especially those under Al Driogano's thumb. Powers & Tactics: When first starting out Foreshadow was more of an acrobat than martial artist. Relying more on misdirection and agility than pure combat prowess. Reflecting this his fighting style relies on movement and precision. His mastery of savate allows him to maintain a lateral control of the, the gymnastic art of tricking allows him to feint his opponents or attack them from odd and unexpected vertical angles, and a solid base in escrima affords him a brutal fallback when precision and mobility allow fail. His custom built high polymer Escrima Sticks are lightweight so that he can overwhelm foes without sacrificing power for speed. At a distance they can also be thrown to take out foes. The staves can combine into a singular bo staff, which Foreshadow uses when in need of supplying his attacks more power. One end of the weapon can fire a stored swing line made out of airplane cable, and both escrima sticks can be discharge a powerful electric shock akin to a heavy duty stun gun. Last but not least, Erick is able to foresee events before they come to pass. A secondary effect of this ability is he is actively aware of his surroundings almost intuitively combined with the fact that Erick is intuitively aware of foreboding danger allows him to always be alert. This sensation manifests as a tingling feeling at the base of his skull, alerting Erick to danger in proportion to the severity of whatever the threat is. Complications: Enemies: Ever since taking over the mantle of Foreshadow from David, Erick has inhereted his predecessor's old rogues gallery. Most notably being the assassins belonging to the Murder League and the the Freedom Mob. Flirt: Erick enjoys the company of the fairer sex, and won't hesitate to let them know. It can get him knee deep into trouble as he doesn't always use his head when it comes to beautiful women. Responsibility: As a university student Erick has to make sure his late hours don't interfere with his school work. As a heavy investor and philanthropist in various start up businesses and charities he has to make sure his money is in good hands further dividing his attention. Secret: Erick has the difficult task of keeping his identity a secret from those around him. It places a great strain on any relations he tries to form as most of his nights are spent fighting crime in Freedom City and London Scry vs Scry: Foreshadow can foresee events before they come to pass. Unfortunately there is a bit of psychic interference when dealing with foes with other precognitive gifts.
