Agnes gave a little sigh and dumped her half-finished soda in a convenient bin. Why couldn’t she just have a quiet afternoon without something weird happening to her? This city seemed to thrive on this kind of thing. First thing first distract the monster so that everyone could escape safely. Agnes subconsciously leant forward, pulling around her the jacket she picked up from a helpful trooper. “I believe you Wilkins, there are many strange things in the swamp.†She turned to Commander Basque “Me and my colleagues are trouble shooters of sorts, sent by the War Office to deal with thing beyond the experience of it’s regular soldiers.†If need be she could reel off the names of some of the relevant people in the Unions War office. “If Wilkins here can tell us where he encountered these fanged men we can deal with them without risking any more of your men.†She gave a broad grin “After all a doctors best tool is prevention.â€

It didn't take long to recover her sword, she had bought it along but kept it in her car just in case. A few quick texts to inform all her friends and important people she might be away for a couple of days and she was good to go. So she wasn't more than 15 minutes behind Lord Steam as she drove up the drive off Steam mansion, which she had to admit was quite an impressive place. Almost unconsciously she shifted her clothes from a practical t-shirt and combats combination to a rather more fitting dress for the location.

Rene was woken in the morning by a healthy breakfast and a change of clothes. There guide from last night was serving breakfast even though he seemed a little worse for wear. The man didn’t seem to react to anything going on around him. “Dwayne we both in danger, the plan do it now.†At this the man simply disappeared and all hell broke loose. Throughout the studio alarms began to blare out and the sprinklers began to kick into action. In the studio the react was almost instant, Agnes was let go and there was suddenly a multitude of Merge’s who seemed intent on getting the people out of the studio as quickly as possible. “Damn the heroes are here already, I thought we would have more time. Right everyone out, right now!†In the control room though the camera seemed to be shutting down one by one by Starlight could still see the room being evacuated. She also spotted from the corner of her eye the screens from the other studio. In there was a multitude of Merge Trois in the process of emptying the big Box O Money of it billion dollar contents.

Lucy was tempted to push a little further to find out just a little bit more than she already knew. But not at the sake of the man whatever what he had done. “That’s fine Mr Dickens you get some rest now and get better, I’ll speak to you soon.†She gave him a little pat on his hand and nodded towards Doctor Wessex. As she watched the Doctor work she considered her options. Well there wasn’t really any option she’d have to check out this restaurant. She waited until the doctor had finished until she spoke again. “I need to borrow a telephone Doctor Wessex; it seems that I’m going out dining tonight. But until them I’m at your service, it seems only fair.†She gave the doctor a bright smile.

“Oh I won’t be long I just need to collect a few things. Shall we say within the hour?†She gave Subito a little look. The one thing she’d always liked was his boundless enthusiasm for things; he was like a big kid sometime. And she suspected she knew exactly what he wanted to do right now. She gave him a gentle nudge in the ribs to get his attention. “Why don’t you travel along with Lord Lockwood? Just in case this mysterious V has other plans for us.†It was only a half lie, and one she didn’t feel any particular guilt over, they really didn’t know exactly what reach this mysterious V had. And it never hurt to be a little cautious in these things.

Helping herself to some of the Jelly beans Blodeuwedd considered Tona new look. “I think it looks good on you Tona, though shorts would also be good. Maybe a little shorter on the T-Shirt, suggest a little skin. You've got a good figure you should show it off a bit. And I mean a little.†She shot Sam a knowing look “But ultimately it what you're comfortable in. If you feel uncomfortable in something it'll show. And good fashion is as much about feeling good in the clothes you wearing as it is showing other people how good you look.†Or at least being able to fake it, but I don't think Tona ready for the advanced classes yet.

“Thanks that should come in handy.†Accepting the commlink she put it into her ear, making sure to keep the hood low to hide her features. As she did this she considered the options open to them. “It seems to me that there are two options. Either we take the ladder down to this mysterious area, but the area is probably as protected as before. Or we use these handy air vents to explore the area. I'd choose the vents personally even though the corridor would be more of a challenge. It might even be prudent to split up, that would allow us to cover more ground. What do you think?â€

Constance was an entertaining companion and the wine was just as good as she had suggested. She whilst she kept up an almost constant stream of conversation from common gossip tot the ideas of the philosophers and scientists. The only topic that never came up, and she actively avoided, was that of her own past and any mention of her family. After several entertaining hours she made her excuses and left Rene alone, after making sure he had lodgings for the night, to make arrangements for the next day, promising to meet him bright and early the next day.

Agnes loved dinosaurs. Well that wasn't completely true she'd gone through that phase when she was a kid, along with wanting to have and/or be a pony, but really they paled compared with her first love that of music. But one of the Spirit of Justice previous hosts had been a paleontologist, before the term had even been invented, and looking at the exhibits bought back pleasant memories. And why couldn't she show her past selves an entertaining afternoon now and again? So dressed down in a very expensive designer t-shirt and jeans she wandered around the displays in bother boots slurping at a large cola and generally enjoying her, self-imposed, afternoon off.

Meanwhile Agnes was finding that they were strong than they appeared, another Merge came and stood directly in front of her. “Now that was just rude, and very, very stupid.†As she spoke she got progressively closer to Agnes’s face. In reaction Agnes just smiled “Yeah your right, she should never have duetted with him.†by now the Merge was all in her face arms thrown out wide “Oh you think you’re so cleaver? Do you? Well lets she how cleaver you feel when…†The silence of the rest of the studio was broken by a chirp of cell phone, and the Merge in front of Agnes broke off her threats as her head snapped up. “Someone missing. Someone who should be here. Wait where’s that mouthy girl who was on stage earlier?â€

Through the glass panel of the door Starlight could see yet another Merge standing in the control room. With her was someone else, and man of only a few year older than herself, and from his facial features in some way possibly related to Merge. He seemed to be staring at the monitors of the control desk which were changing their view without anyone apparently using the panel. He didn’t seem to react as Merge touching him gently on the arms. “I know you’re trying to tell me something Dwayne but I just can’t understand you.†Her voice was softer, kinder, and had none of the bravado of the other Merges Starlight had seen.

With a nod Lucy walked over to the barely conscious man and gently took his hand. She stroked it gently, hoping that the physical contact would keep him calm. “Mr Dickens can you hear me.“ She put on what she hoped was a quiet calming voice “We need you to remember what happened to you. Please it very important.†She looked up at Doctor Wessex to make sure that everything was still okay. Reassured that everything was still good she carried on her gentle questioning. “Take your time you’ve been through quite a bit in the last few days.â€

Blodeuwedd was torn, part of her wanted to know where Sam was going, but she also wanted to respect her new friend privacy. In the end she decided for a compromise. “I’ve want to quickly do something I’ll catch up.†With that she quickly dashed after Kit fishing something out of her bag as she run. “Sam hey wait up. Look I know we have our disagreements but I want to make sure that your safe. So I want you to have this just in case.†She handed Kit a cheap Smart phone “It’s a burn phone its just got my number so if you're in trouble just call me.†Of cause it also had it’s GPS enabled just in case. With a cheery wave she left Sam to do her business and dashed back into the store. Today she was shopping like a teenager choosing clothes suitable for her age. She picked put a couple of items and caught up with Tona. “Yes you just pay for them; you do have enough money don’t you? I spotted this and though of you.†She held up a red hoodie “But for a night out I think you should try out this.†She held up a mid-length black skirt.

She gave a little smile at Subito’s stream of consciousness; he could be so adorable at times. “I doubt if the Avians themselves are responsible, the technology of there we’ve seen was far to primitive to pull of something like this.†She held up the statue “I suspect that this mysterious V has been recruiting them for some purpose.†During her investigation she’d spend considerable time gathering as much information on the Avian and there technological achievements. “I have to collect some equipment before we leave.
