  1. Dimitri could get involved with whatever is going on. He wouldn't be much for establishing/joining a team, considering he's a Claremont kid, but some networking would be nice. And he can pretty much literally be anywhere, so that's not a problem.
  2. Dimitri chuckled a bit. "Really. I could take us, our lunch, and our table all the way to Mumbai, and probably have enough left in me to take a small car with us for good measure. Like I said, it saves me a bundle on travel expenses. I'm actually from Athens, though, so if you would like a tour guide, I could probably serve passably well. You need simply ask." He looked between the two. "But I can jaw all day about myself. What about you two?" He looked to Mark at Tasha's question. "I have to ask the same question; can't say I know much about what makes a good burger. I'm not a picky eater, so I'll go with whatever you suggest." He chuckled softly. "I'm just glad to not be cooking, really. I can barely pour cereal without doing something ridiculous. I'll have to find out the good restaurants in this town."
  3. Totally botched it, Drifter's acting on 10. Do we get a surprise round?
  4. Dimitri kept a hand on Tasha's arm, helping to steady her. "Careful now. We're near the cafe that Mark here had mentioned. I can help guide you, if you like." He was trying to strike a balance between his desire to help and his wish not to offend the girl. He had a small chuckle at Mark's enthusiasm, as the younger man started to lead the way across the street towards the cafe itself. "He's quite energetic, isn't he?" He turned back towards Tasha, allowing her to use his arm to steady herself to her new surroundings. "It's very nice to meet you, Tasha." Straightening his hat again with his free hand, Dimitri walked after Mark, keeping a slow pace to allow Tasha to use him as a guide if she wished. "I'll answer your second question first, it's the simpler one to handle. I have...a gift, if you will. I'm starting to see that this might be a trend here. Myself, I can go...anywhere, really. Anywhere not specifically warded against teleportation, anyway. I'm not quite sure of my maximum range, but I'm fairly certain I can get anywhere on Earth from here. Hasn't failed yet, at least." He continued towards the cafe, looking towards Mark. "You'll have to invite me next time. I should begin to get to know everyone, the class sizes here being what they are, right?" He turned back towards Tasha. "As for the first question, that's a bit harder. It's not a mutation; not in the normal way, anyway. The explanation the doctor gave me was way over my head, but...my father has a means of teleportation himself. He wasn't around much for me or my mother to exactly know what it was, but there you go. Whatever it is, his use of it changed him enough that I am able to psionically tap into it myself. It saves me a bundle on travel, let me tell you." When they reached their table, Dimitri pulled out a chair for Tasha before taking one himself, hanging his coat over the back and loosening his tie. He took up one of the menus, looking over it for a second before looking over it at the two of them and the cafe in particular. "This reminds me of a little taverna back in Athens that my mother and I would go to; fish fresh out of the Mediterranean. We'll have to go sometime."
  5. Drifter nodded at Dragonfly's plan and Nick's comment. He hoped he sounded a lot braver than he felt, though his voice wasn't above a whisper; the better for the guards not to hear. "Alright, we're doing this blitz-style; let's hit it. I'll take point." Nodding to the other two, Drifter tested the weight of his stone once more, attempting to calm his nerves. His vest could probably take a couple bullets, but he didn't want to find out. He held up three fingers, counting down to Nick and Dragonfly. When the last finger went down, he whipped around the corner, breaking towards the guards. With any luck, he could get within throwing range before they would notice and react. If they were lucky, the three of them could take the men out without a shot being fired.
  6. Dimitri perked up slightly when Mark explained who his friend was. "Ah, you mean Alexandra Albright? I only know her by reputation, I'm afraid. I hear she is quite something in person." He quirked an eyebrow slightly at Mark's continuing explanation, as if realizing something before chuckling, slipping back into his native Greek to talk to himself. " He turned towards Tasha, chuckling a bit. "Well, it may be for the best. Bats are all wings and fangs and angry screeching. It might not be pleasant. And I suppose I have a story or two to tell. But first, lunch." Clapping his hands and rubbing them together quickly he looked between the two standing with him. "Alright, Mark, if you'll hold on to my shoulder. And...my god, more rudeness on my part, I don't believe I've caught your name, miss? I'll take your arm here." Dimitri placed a hand lightly on Tasha's arm. "You might want to close your eyes. It's a bit disorienting at first." Once both had taking his arm, he closed his own eyes, focusing on the coordinates and direction Mark had given them. After a few seconds, he opened his eyes, and the three of them vanished from the foyer they were in, appearing in a narrow alley across the street from the small cafe Mark had mentioned. Dimitri adjusted his hat with a small grin. "Nothing to it."
  7. Dimitri chuckled, running another hand through his hair before putting his hat back on his head. "Well, I certainly can't make up for rudeness with a lunch I got for free. Especially if it was me cooking; I'm horrible at it, I'm told. So, this cafe will work well, I think." His eyes fell with interest on the small teleporter in Mark's hand. "Well now, that's quite high tech for a private school. You say your friend built this? Tell me, is this Alex looking for a job?" With a small chuckle, he adjusted his hat again. "Though I do pride myself on my own skills, of course." He looked around for a second before speaking again. "Speaking of which, where is this cafe? I think I can save us a little commuting time. Hopefully I won't almost run into someone again." He turned towards Tasha with another small grin on his face. "Well, I hate to break your streak, but I'm really quite boring once you get to know me. Just to warn you now. So hopefully the food is distracting enough to make me look interesting, hmm?"
  8. Dimitri turned around in surprise at the feminine voice behind him, gasping slightly in surprise. In his small attempt to be flashy, he must have almost teleported right into her. There wasn't much danger, of course; he shunted out of the way of solid objects. Still, it was a rather rude foot to get off on at his new academy "Oh, sorry! I must have almost run right into you. I'm such a klutz sometimes." His hat was in his hand, and he gave a small bow before he realized that the girl probably couldn't see him anyway. He chuckled a bit awkwardly, running a hand through his hair. Thankfully, another voice allowed him a chance to change the subject slightly. He turned to find a rather exuberant young man around his own age. With a smile of his own, Dimitri offered his free hand to shake. "Yes, Dimitri Papadakis. Nice to meet you, Mark." He chuckled at Mark's comment. It seemed that the small class size meant that news traveled fast. "It's rather handy, yes. Though I do fear I'll become...what's the phrase you Americans use? The class bicycle?" With a small wink to Mark, he turned back towards Tasha somewhat before continuing. "Well, I think I would be best served to see where the cafeteria is, first. I haven't eaten all day!" Turning towards Tasha fully, he continued. "If you haven't eaten yet, perhaps I can make up for my earlier rudeness by buying lunch? I certainly wouldn't mind more company."
  9. A curious sight appeared for anyone who happened to be watching the for anyone who happened to be watching the front gate of the Claremont Academy. A ripple appeared in the air, not unlike the mirage that appears on a road on a hot day. After a second, the ripple exploded with a small sound and a puff of yellow smoke, revealing a figure in a suit and fedora. Whatever happened, it didn't even break his stride as he walked towards the gate, adjusting his hat to sit straight on his head as he stepped towards the door. He stopped in front of the security booth to look at the parts of the campus he could see, smiling broadly. "Simply beautiful campus." Walking up to the booth, he offered a smile to the man inside as well. "Hello, my name is Dimitri Papadakis. I'm a new student here?" The security guard took a glance before nodding towards the young man, much less unfazed by Dimitri's little stunt than he had predicted. "Right. Head to the admin building." The man slid a map of the campus through the small slot in the glass towards Dimitri. Dimitri looked over the map for the admin building, smiling to the man. "Thanks. I'll make my way over now." Stepping forward, he disappeared into another flash of yellow smoke, appearing in much the same fashion in the building, in front of the receptionist's desk. Offering another winning smile to the woman as he leaned on the high counter slightly, he tipped his hat. "Hello, ma'am. I'm Dimitri Papadakis. I've registered as a student here?" Tapping on her keyboard for a few moments, she returned his smile. Again, she seemed to not be too surprised about the student who had suddenly appeared before her. "Everything is already in order, Dimitri. Welcome to Claremont. There's a tour planned, but it's not mandatory. There's a assembly for new students tomorrow at 8. I understand you're commuting, but the dorms are open to you, of course. " Dimitri quirked an eyebrow, but continued to smile. "I think I'll show myself around, at first. I've got an...odd pace, I'm told."
  10. "Right, the hard way it is." Drifter reached into his backpack, finding a pouch of smooth, polished rocks. He removed one from the pouch, testing the weight before nodding to the other two. "Right. We doing this the ninja sneak way, or the kick down the door way?"
  11. "We might be able to go around the back and get the jump on them from there. It's risky, but if we do it right we can get them out before they have a chance to draw their guns. They might have a key or something on them, too." Drifter scratched his chin, looking to the magician, who seemed to be the most experienced out of them. "What do you think, man? If we go for the split-up, it's probably going to be you going it along. You're our big gun here."
  12. How tall is the house?, like from roof to ground?
  13. Returning from his rooftop scouting, Drifter landed next to the necromancer and tech-girl, straightening his mask before speaking. "Well, we've got two options, it looks like. There's a backdoor, not guarded from the outside. Inside, can't say. I might be able to pick the lock, but I can't make any promises. Or we could just go in guns blazing. Not that I recommend it. Those guys are packing serious heat; machine pistols from the looks of it."
  14. Can I try again on the Notice check and Take 10, for 16?
  15. Notice Check (1d20+6=11)
  16. Drifter didn't know what the necromancer was doing exactly, but he nodded as he pointed to the guarded house. "Yeah, I figured. I'm going to go topside and see what I can spot. Promise I won't make any dramatic entrances this time." Taking out his grapple gun, Drifter aimed for a nearby roof far enough away from the building that he wouldn't be easy to spot as he cased the joint. As he landed on the roof, he got look, looking for any entrances besides the obvious one, or any flaws in the building's defenses that they could exploit. A frontal attack could go badly for them.

  18. Character Name: The Jay Power Level: 10 (148/150PP) Trade-Offs: +2 Defense/-2 Toughness Unspent PP: 2 Gold Status: 0/30 In Brief: Teleporting former thief attempting to reform. Alternate Identities: Dimitri Papadakis Identity: Public Birthplace: Athens, Greece Occupation: Student Affiliations: Claremont Academy, Paragon City law enforcement Family: Penelope Papadakis, Mother. 'The Magpie', Father. Age: 17 (D.O.B. 08/18/1993) Gender: Male Ethnicity: Greek Height: 5'10" Weight: 160 pounds Eyes: Brown Hair: Dyed green, naturally black Description: Dimitri is an attractive young man in his late teens. He has a fairly thin build, though he is surprisingly strong for his frame. A fairly dark complexion, as well as brown eyes and a noticeable accent when speaking languages outside his native Greek, mark his Hellenic heritage. His hair is naturally black, though he has dyed it a bright green. While relaxing, he tends towards more simple, jeans and t-shirts types of clothing. However, when in a more formal occasion or when out doing his new 'hero' thing, he dons a simple-looking black suit and fedora. However, the suit is deceptively weaved with a protective material, making the cloth just a protective as a tactical vest. His shock baton, a deceptively simple-looking piece of self-defense technology that crackles with electricity when activated, is usually on his person. History: Though the costumed hero the Raven is the current focus of his attentions, she is far from the first woman in the life of the international thief known as the Magpie. One of these women was the beautiful and successful Greek billionaire Penelope Papadakis. The affair between the two was brief before the Magpie disappeared as he is wont to do, but it resulted in a pregnancy and a son. As he grew up, it became evident that whatever force that allows the Magpie his ability to teleport, Dimitri was able to psionically tap into as well. The young boy soon figured out who his father was, though his mother considered it an old shame and a mistake and rarely speaks of it. Still, the lack of a father figure in his life affected him greatly. He went to the best schools, learning what he would need to eventually take over his mother's import/export business. He took to the schooling well, and had something of a talent for business even despite his young age. More importantly, he knew enough to hire people who knew more than him. With a grant from his trust fund, he began building a vast financial empire of his own. By the time he was 16 he was, through a combination of his family's wealth and his own personal investments, a billionaire. He took to philanthropy, donating vast sums to charity. However, the teen business mogul also had a secret life; that of the international thrill-seeking thief known as "The Jay". While he did not have the vast experience or extensive underworld contacts of his father, Dimitri's resources were far more abundant, and his ability to teleport was far more refined, allowing him fine control of where he appeared. He could simply teleport into a vault, take what he wanted, and leave. He developed some mundane thievery skills along the way, but was mostly known for his teleportation, besting even the most advanced of security systems simply by bypassing them. He returned everything he stole; he had no need for the money, but for the challenge. And he would never admit it, but he was trying to gain attention from his father the only way he could think of. Eventually, he determined that the best way to do so would be to do something the Magpie could never do; defeat the Raven. He challenged the cowled heroine to defend an art exhibit being held in Freedom City. Dimitri was out of his league, and was easily defeated by the Raven, leading to his arrest. While he was incarcerated, however, he held several conversations with the heroine, who had determined his parentage in the meantime. Whether out of her own conflicted feelings for the Magpie, or pity for the boy himself, she asked the judge overhearing his trial for clemency. More importantly, perhaps, the Raven has convinced the young man that perhaps he was on the wrong path. Eventually, between his own crack legal team, the Raven's testimony, and his own repentant manner, a generous plea was reached; Dimitri would use his skills for community service, as well as paying hefty fines and reparations for his actions. He was accepted by a local private school for the time he would need to spend in Freedom City; the Claremont Academy. He is now trying to make a change for the better. Soon, he is to be released to the care of the Academy to start the final year of his secondary schooling. However, he does not yet know the real reason that he was accepted to the Academy, and what exactly will be called of him... Personality & Motivation: Though he does not know it, there is much of his father in Dimitri. He is a romantic through and through, and has a great love of all beautiful things, especially women. He is charming when he wants to be, which is rather often. He is a creature of strong emotions, though he tries to project a demeanor of calm. He easily loses himself in whatever he finds passion in, and is easy to rile into great joy or anger. He inherited a mind for business from his mother, and has actually built his own personal fortune mostly separate from his family money. All in all, his worth is in the billions of US dollars. Unlike most of the idle rich, however, he is actually quite intelligent, and the lion's share of his fortune was built by his own hand. He is legitimately attempting to turn over a new leaf. He is self-aware enough to know that his former thieving ways were his attempt to deal with an absentee father. However, he now channels that in a different direction; besting his father directly. Beyond that, however, he is attempting to use his powers as a "superhero", though he would be loathe to call himself any kind of hero, much less a super one. For now, keeping his nose clean and maybe doing a little good here and there is enough for him. Of course, considering his destination, heroism might be forced on him soon enough. Powers & Tactics: Dimitri's powers of teleportation are extremely powerful and very refined for his young age. He is able to teleport close to a thousand feet in an instant, and with a short amount of time to focus he can reach almost any point on Earth with merely a quick description of the target. His fine control of this teleportation is also very refined; he can change his direction and orientation, and teleport to a full stop from any speed. Furthermore, doing so is completely instinctual for him, and no more difficult than walking. He can literally be almost anywhere at almost any time. He is also an accomplished martial artist, trained in hand to hand fighting, armed combat, and personal defense. He is armed with a shock baton and a tailored suit weaved with an armoring material. Though it looks normal, it is the equivalent of a tactical combat vest at stopping bullets and other dangers. Also, he is a fairly accomplished thief in the mundane sense as well. While his preference is to teleport past any obstacle that bars his path, he also has some capability to handle them in the normal method, if necessary. Now, however, he uses those skills against the criminal element of Freedom City and beyond. Complications: Fame (Dimitri is the well-known heir to a shipping fortune, as well as already a successful investor, businessman, and philanthropist in his own right despite his young age. His holdings include shares in several successful technology firms, a few import/export businesses, and a sports team or two among other holdings.) Hatred (Though he will not admit it outright, Dimitri is somewhat obsessed with his father. While he originally channeled that into imitating him in an attempt to best him, he has now redirected it into opposing him directly. Should he ever encounter the man in person, even Dimitri doesn't know what he'll do) Reputation (Though he is trying to turn over a new leaf, he is still a former criminal. A bad reaction from those who have heard of him is possible, especially if they think he got off too light.) Responsibility (Dimitri is bound by his sentence to do all the can for the Claremont Academy and the community at large. Also, he must always keep an eye on his holdings and investments.) 19. If watching a hobo transform completely into something else in a fairly disgusting manner didn't already creep Drifter out, listening to a not-voice voice thing come from the skull-faced man did the rest of the job. "Now, don't get me wrong; that was cool. I know where he's holed up, though. It's a place off Yeats; Butler, Irish, get it? I guess he's a fan of being thematic. Maybe he'll be wearing a green suit or something. I've heard about it here and there, was keeping an eye on it, but I didn't know exactly what was going down in there. Now I do, I guess." Drifter drew his grapple gun from his belt, before thinking better of it and stopping. "Uh...I don't know how you guys get around. We can hoof it, or I can do my grapple thing. I'll show you where it's at."

  21. Drifter Edits: Add 4 Feats: Luck 1, Move-By Action, Takedown Attack, Well-Informed DC block fix: DC for Bola Snare should be 14 . Ecalsneerg'd!
  22. Drifter looked towards the bum as he came up. "No offense, man, but I don't know if this is any fight for you. I know this O'Hagan. Tough dude, not a pushover. And he's going to have backup. This is going to be a fight, and he's going to be looking to kill." Looking at the rest of the group, he glanced around. "Speaking of which, we need to hit soon, and hit hard. Before he's got a chance to get suspicious."
  23. Walking up to the thug, Drifter grabbed him around the throat, leaning down to look him face to face. "Listen carefully. You don't go to O'Hagan. You and your buddies go home, and you don't show your faces on the streets again. Or I find you, and I make sure you never show your faces on the streets again. Are we clear?" He stepped back, letting the man go and looking at all three thugs. "Go. Leave the weapons." He slipped the baton back into his belt, letting the thugs leave as he turned towards the group that was beginning to form. It seemed that he wasn't the only one that had been following this lead. "Right then. Let's get the introductions out of the way first, then? You guys can call me Drifter. I busted a shipment of drugs a little while ago. Followed up and found these guys. Guess this is bigger than I thought." He took another glance around the group, from the magician, to the girl with what seemed to be some kind of weaponized gauntlets. "I think if we pool our resources, we can crack this wide open."
  24. Streetwise check about Knuckles (1d20+8=10)
  25. Drifter stepped over towards the leader, falling in next to the skull-faced man. He tossed his collapsing baton lazily, glancing over to the leader of the thugs. "I suggest you answer the nice skull-faced man, dude. Or I'm going to have to ask you." He smiled a sadistic smile under his mask that was, if he had to be honest with himself, only mostly feigned. "And I doubt you're going to like how I ask questions."
