  1. The name's a work in progress. And I'm counting your lack of corrections as one approval. :P
  2. Player Name: Rhyvurg Character Name: None yet Power Level: 10 150/150PP Trade-Offs: None Unspent PP: 0 Gold Status: 0/30 In Brief: Genetic superman with minor but collectively potent powers. Alternate Identities: Marcus Alexander Identity: Secret Birthplace: Miami Occupation: Stock Broker Affiliations: None Family: Adopted parents still live in Miami Age: September 29th, 1983 Apparent Age: 27 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 6' 2" Weight: 220 Eyes: Blue Hair: Blonde Description: Marcus puts on an air of a confident, intelligent young man who always seems to stay one step ahead of the competition. And it's hardly a front. But he works hard to keep ahead of the curve, always buying the latest fashions, going to the trendiest clubs, and making sure he's seen on the arm of Hollywood's latest darling starlet. Power Descriptions: Marcus has trained hard to learn how to use his telekinetic powers with subtlety and precision, something his "father" has never shown himself to be able to do. History: Marcus claims his powers and abilities all come from his hard training and focus, that anyone can be what he is. In reality, his owes his gifts to his amazing heritage. His parents in Miami always told him his mother had died, and his father had left her. But his own investigations revealed the truth. He has no father, he is a mistake. The villain Mastermind keeps clones ready to serve as backup bodies all over the world, genetically perfect human specimens. And occasionally, mistakes happen. Like a clone not yet grown to adult age getting loose, and wandering in the everglades to be found by a passing fisherman. They put the boy in an orphanage, and a few months later he was adopted. Like his genetic father, Marcus is genetically perfect. But without Mastermind's...mind, he was ignorant of the breadth of his powers. So far, he's begun to tap into his telekinetic potential, but the vast portion of Mastermind's abilities are still a mystery to him. Maybe some day, Marcus will go south and find the place he escaped from, maybe he can find what he needs there to realize his full potential. Something at odds with his playboy lifestyle is a crippling fear of what might happen should he pass on his genes. This is so intense, he is still a virgin. Personality & Motivation: Marcus is, well, perfect. He's polite, confident, capable but not a jerk about it. He's that guy you knew in school who seemed to be good at everything. Football star, honor roll, dating the prom queen, class president, looks like a model and does charity work on weekends. You'd hate him if he wasn't so nice. He wants, more than anything else, to rid the world of his "father" and be a true individual, not the shadow of a greater being. Powers & Tactics: Marcus usually spends his nights trolling for muggers, flashing some money and using his agility and acrobatic skill to disappear and attack from hiding, disarming his enemies and dispatching them quickly. He reserves his telekinesis for powerful enemies or to help with distractions to set up an ambush. Complications: Secret Identity: Marcus is careful to keep his public and private lives separate. He hides his armored jumpsuit under a designer overcoat, and uses a common chain to fight with, something available at any hardware store. 3. So, I'm looking to start a new character, so I'd like some second opinions on my concept. I'm going for a The Mario kind of thing, he'd be good at a lot of things but he wouldn't be "the best" at any of them. He would have all peak human ability scores, good but not highest-possible saves, and very limited powers. He'd have only one rank of super-strength, slightly improved speed and mental quickness, and some Leaping ability. Enough to make a difference but not so much that you can really be sure he has powers. His only really obvious power is minor telekinesis. I'm going to bill him as an experiment in forced evolution, a test subject in an experiment in human development. His powers are a fluke, a chance combination of latent talent and genetic modification. He's used his new abilities, mostly his charisma and intelligence, to become independently wealthy playing the stock market and flipping real estate. In combat, he wears an armored jumpsuit and carries a chain, he's a mix of combat pragmatist and trained martial artist but he's still learning. His typical method of crimefighting is to make a show of how much money he has and go trolling for muggers. He uses his speed and agility to fool them into thinking their "mark" got away before pouncing. He's nice to have as backup, but not really suited to fighting giant robots and such.
  4. Crom walks down the street, whisting to himself and stomping on wolves. He's dressed casually, in ratty blue jeans and an off-white t-shirt. "What's with these beasts roaming the streets? Most unnatural." He finishes his beer and tosses the bottle in a dumpster. He notices a large number of obviously superhuman folks gathering at some building. "Hmm. Eldritch did say I should socialize with the locals. And I don't think he meant in pubs. Well, no time like the present..." He heads for the group, wishing he had though to grab one of those delightful 'six packs' before he left the pub.
  5. Since my first try at a thread seems to have failed, could Crom get in on this? I mean, as a god, he himself is a religious icon. And...I want at least some posts in before the month is up...
  6. The anticipation is killing me. Killing me I say!
  7. What does this mean for the site? Will we be changing over to 3e as soon as it comes out? Will the IC threads be put on hold while we make the transition? Do we handwave the sudden differences in our characters, or will there be some kind of massive world-changing event like the Spellplauge WotC used for 4e?
  8. Crom is in, though I expect to get beaten soundly.
  9. TV Tropes mentioned this, but for the life of me I can't see how to do it.
  10. AvengerAssembled told me it was cool to ask this, since Crom hasn't been in combat yet, could I get -3 defense/+3 toughness and -2 attack/+2 damage tradeoffs added? No stats will need to be changed, he has room for them. Doktor'd
  11. Can I get my 2 bonus points added to Language? Crom needs to speak English.
  12. I got some bonus points yesterday, I'm going to add them to language. When he's excited, or drunk, Crom speaks Gaeilge, Ireland's native tongue. He said "I am drunk. I need a buxom woman to warm my bed. Oh buxom women, where have you gone?"
  13. OOC for Divine needs an intervention. Come one, come all, my character needs to meet people, make friends and enemies, and say and do inappropriate things to women.
  14. A giant of a man staggers down the middle of Kendall Street in the Fens, seemingly heedless of the dangers. A bottle of whiskey hangs from his fingettips, on the verge of falling, but staying in his hand by the sheerest of chance. He smells like he took a bath in moonshine, and he's lost a shoe at some point. He trips on nothing at all, falling into a bizzare half-doubled over run that ends when he smashes into a lamp post, knocking it over. He seems unharmed, happy even. "Mise tuirse ar meiiiiiisce! Mise mor a sundog bheith teiiiiiiigh mo leaba! O sundog, mar bhfuil tusa d'imigh se?"

    Crom

Introduction Who are you? Sum yourself up in one sentence. Crom, ancient god of...I can't remember. Do you have any nicknames, street names, titles, or nom de plume? Crom does not appreciate mortals assigning him names, he will only anwser to his true name. What is your full birth name? Crom Cruach Where do you live? Downtown, in a small appartment. How old are you? What year were you born (if applicable)? Mortal conceptions of time do not apply to Crom. Physical Traits "Bursting at the seams" would be the most accurate way to describe Crom, like his mortal avatar can barely contain the being within. What is your gender? If not applicable, please explain. Crom is male. How would you describe your heritage? Outside of knowing he is from Ireland, Crom has no memory of his heritage, but he realizes the decendants of his worshippers have no need for him. How tall are you? Crom stands six and a half feet tall. What is your body type? Crom has a build that would make a bodybuilder jealous. Do you have any particular weaknesses, such as allergies or physical disabilities? Weaknesses are for mortals, Crom is beyond such things. How do you carry yourself? Are you graceful, or heavy on your feet? Can you be stealthy, do you walk with confidence? Crom is more nimble than he looks, but he always acts openly, without guile or subterfuge. Describe your skin, eye, and hair color. Crom's mortal host is more tan than one would expect of an Irish god, but his hair turned red and his eyes green when he was bound to Crom. How do you wear your hair, if applicable? Do you have facial hair? Crom's hair grows long and wild, barely held in check tied in a ponytail, and looks like it was cut with a kitchen knife, a suggestion Crom takes offence to. He cuts it with pruning shears. He does make an effort to shave though, he's never been seen with more then a day's growth. Do you consider yourself attractive? Do others? Crom is of average appearence, and lacks the charisma normally accociated with divine beings. This does not concern Crom, he is what he is, let others form what opinions they will. Do you have any scars, tattoos, piercings, or birthmarks? Crom's host had no such markings, but upon his possession a sunburst tattoo appeared on his chest. Crom has few scars, as few forces in the mortal world have the power to mar his skin. Do you resemble anyone famous? Crom has been compared to Donar, that whelp Aesir, but suggesting they are the same person is a good way to get punched in the mouth. Do you have a dominant hand? It is not the way of a god to control the lives of mortals, at least in Crom's eyes. Crom sees himself as a guide and protector, not a ruler. What kind of clothing do you wear? Crom finds these "blue-jeans" most comfortable. But clothing is of little importance, it is so fragile and is frequently torn appart when Crom must do battle. Do you wear makeup? Does war paint count? What is your vocal range? Is your voice distinctive in some way? Crom is somewhat skilled with music, and his power to create songs out of thin air delights him to no end. But Crom's own voice is...lacking. It is deep, as one would expect of a man of his size, but it possesses no remarkable qualities. Do you have any distinctive habits, nervous tics, or mannerisms? Where did they come from, and what causes them? Do other people notice and remark on these habits? Do they annoy you or other people? Crom has spent little time in this human form, he has not developed any unconcious habits as of yet. History Where do you come from? Ireland Have you made any major moves, or do you live in your hometown? Crom was forced into mortal form, then whisked away to Freedom City, an ocean away from his homeland. Do you feel loyal to your country of citizenship? Do you consider yourself patriotic? How do you feel about the government of your country? Crom was very dedicated to the Irish people, but mortals have moved away from the gods. But that choice is not for Crom to judge, he will do what he can to aid mortals in need. But their governments mean little to him, they have no authority over a god. How do you feel about the place you come from? The Ireland Crom is from no longer exsists. Where is your home town? What was/is it like? Crom is not from a "town". Growing up, were most of the people you knew similar to you, or were you somehow a minority? How did that affect you? The gods are few, compared to the teeming masses of mortals, but Crom has lost his memories of his time among his divine brothers. Is there something you've always been really good at or really bad at? How has that affected your life? Crom is proud of his strength, but he knows there is some part of his power he lost, something important. Were there any traumatic experiences in your early years (death of a family member, abandonment, orphaned at an early age)? If such a thing occured, Crom does not remember it. Briefly describe a defining moment in your childhood and how it influenced your life. Gods do not have childhoods. What stupid things did you do when you were younger? If you want Crom to tell you that, you'll need a lot of beer... Where did you go to school? How much school did you have, and did you enjoy it? Crom is a god, he predatesthe concept of "school". Do you have any mementos of your childhood? What are they, and why did you keep them? If you have none, why not? Crom does not have any of his artifacts. he forgot where he left them. When did you decide to become a hero? Why? Did anyone influence you one way or another in the decision? It is the duty of a god to set aright the paths of mortals, if they worship him or not. It is Crom's nature to help those in need. Is the reason you give people for becoming a hero different than your real reason? If so, why? Crom, lie? The suggestion offends him! Do you have any deep, dark secrets in the past that may come back to haunt you? Some may consider his summoning by Overshadow to be one of these. Do you represent yourself as being different from who you really are? Why? Never! Crom would never dishonor himself with a lie. If you do have these secrets, what do you fear would happen if the truth became known? How far would you go to protect those secrets? Crom would tell all he knows if someone would ask. Do you have any sort of criminal record? If so, is it public knowledge? Crom does not consider himself to be subject to mortal laws. Family What are your biological parents' names? This does not apply to Crom. If you do not have a partner or children, do you want them someday? How firm are you in your opinion on this, and what might change your mind? Crom would welcome a family, but these modern women want something called "fidelity". How quaint. What type of person would be your ideal mate? Crom does not know, he's never given much thought to long-term relationships. Relationships Do you have any close friends? If so, please describe them, and how you came to be close to them. crom has many aquantenances, but no friends. Do you have a best friend? If so, how did they become your best friend? How close are you to your best friend? No. If you were to go missing, who would worry about you? Nobody. Have you lost any loves? If so, how did it happen, and what did you do? No, Crom knows better than to become attached to a mortal woman, their lives are to fleeting. Do you have any bitter enemies? If so, please describe them and their history with you. Crom has no enemies, he has outlived them all. If you have enemies, how do you think they might attempt to work against you in the future? Such things are of little importance, Com is a god! He will crush them! What is the worst thing someone has done to you? The worst thing Crom can remember is someone spilling his drink. Where do your loyalties lie? In what order? Crom's only loyalty is to mortal's. Who or what do you trust the most? Why? Crom trusts in himself, and nothing else. Who or what do you despise? Why? Crom despises cowardice. He knows few beings can muster the force he can, but that is no excuse for cowardice. What qualities do you admire most in other people? Are these qualities you possess? Crom prizes bravery, seeing it as the most important quality one can possess. What qualities do you hate most in other people? Do you have any of those qualities? Crom loathes liars, decievers, and conmen. Do you have a secret identity? If so, who knows it? Do you hide it from people who are close to you? Why? Crom has no need to hide what he is. Do you work well on teams and in groups? Are you a leader or a follower? Crom has no deisre to lead, and will do whatever is asked of him. Are you on a super team? If so, how do you get along with your comrades? Do you trust them, or do you have secrets from them? For the time being, Crom works alone. Are you a member of any church, fraternal organization, club, committee, political party, or other group? How much time do you spend on that? Does being the focus of a religeon count? Personality & Beliefs Who are your heroes? Crom has no heroes. Did you ever become disillusioned with former heroes or idols? If so, why and what were the circumstances? No. Do you like being a hero? If so, what is the most rewarding part? If not, what makes you keep doing it? Crom is not a hero, he is a god, if the duties of the two overlap, that is not important. Is there anything that would make you give up hero work, or even switch sides? Never! Crom would die first! What are your short term goals (what would you like to be doing within a year)? Crom seeks to remember more of his lost power and memories. What are your long term goals (what would you like to be doing twenty years from now)? Crom wishes to gain enough power to shed his mortal form and return to true godhood. What is your greatest fear? Why? What do you do when something triggers this fear? Crom fears it may be possible for him to die while trapped in this mortal form, but that does not change his duties. Is there anything you would give you life for? Crom would give his life for a single mortal soul, should it be needed. How do you feel about money and material wealth? Do you desire it or disdain it? Are you miserly with what you have, or do you like to share? Is it a mark of success, or a means to an end? Material things mean nothing to a god. How do you generally treat others? Crom treats everyone as a friend, until they show otherwise. Are you a trusting person? Has your trust ever been abused? Crom trusts few mortals completely. Are you introverted (shy and withdrawn) or extroverted (outgoing)? Do you have a lot of self-confidence? If anything, Crom is to confident. How do you act around attractive, available members of your preferred sex? Crom treats them like he would any other. What are your most annoying habits? Crom is what modern women describe as "handsy". Do you feel contempt for any general category of people? Who are they, and why? No. What is your favorite food? Do you prefer any particular type of food? Do you take the time to enjoy your food, or do you eat as fast as you can? Is beer a food? What is your favorite drink (alcoholic or otherwise)? Beer! How many times must Crom say it? What is your favorite treat (dessert)? Crom...loves cake. There, I said it. Are there any specific foodstuffs that you find disgusting or refuse to eat? Curse you, lima beans! Cuuuuurse youuuu! What is your favorite color? Are there any colors you dislike? Crom has no prefferences. What sort of music do you like? Is there any that you hate? Crom loves drinking songs. If you have a favorite scent, what is it? No. Do you have a favorite animal? No. What is your most treasured possession? Why? Crom has no treasues. Do you enjoy "roughing it", or do you prefer your creature comforts? Soft things are for the soft. Is there a job or a task you would absolutely refuse to do? Crom will never work at Wal-Mart again... Do you consider yourself a spiritual person? If so, how do your beliefs affect your life? How important is it to you? Is this a trick question? Crom is a god, of course he's spiritual. Was your faith influenced or molded by anyone special? No. If you belong to a religious organization, how often do you attend? Do you have a specific place of worship, or friends within the organization? How much do you agree with the beliefs of your organization? Crom's church is no more. Could you kill? Have you killed? Crom has taken mortal life in the past, but it is not something he enjoys. What circumstances led to you forming that conviction, or taking that action? Crom is from a time where killing was often not considered a crime. Are there circumstances under which you believe it is permissible to kill? What are they? If a mortal's evil cannot be redeemed. How would you react to watching someone kill another person? Would your reaction be different if the killer was a friend or an enemy of yours? Crom would stop them, it may be an unjust act. How would you react if something important was stolen from you? Crom may not be eager to kill, but there are many things a human can survive... How would you react to public humiliation? Invite everyone for a pint so it's quickly forgotten. How would you react if a good friend or relative were purposely or accidentally killed? Has it happened to you? Crom cannot say, he has had neither of these. What do you consider to be the worst crime someone could commit and why? The worst crime one can commit is to be a traitor. If your life were to end in 24 hours, what five things would you do in those remaining hours? Bed a woman, get drunk, wreak vengence on Overshadow, save one last person, and get drunk. Career & Training Do you have any special training in your hero skills? If so, where and how did you get it? Crom is a talented and skilled warrior, but he has no "hero skills". Who taught you the most about your heroing abilities? What was your relationship with that person? Crom is self-taught. Do you have any particularly unusual skills? How did you acquire them? If he does, Crom does not remember. Do you do something besides hero work for a living? Have you ever done anything else, or do you plan to? Crom's great strength allowes to leap great distances. Miscellaneous Have you ever made a will, or tried to make arrangements for your death? What provisions did you make? Crom has no will. If your features were to be destroyed beyond recognition, is there any other way of identifying your body? The sunburst mark on his chest. What would you like to be remembered for after your death? To be remembered at all would be nice... Do you believe you pose a threat to the public? Why or why not? Crom is aware of the damage he could do, mortal bodies are so fragile. What do you perceive as your greatest strength? My honor. What do you perceive as your greatest weakness? Jack Daniel's.
  16. I'm inclined to disagree, you can have a Strength score that would give a damage bonus much higher than the PL would allow, and you're not required to take a damage/attack trade-off to do so.
  17. I'm aware the sword would put him over the damage cap, it would stop at 10 instead of going up to 13 anyway. I got it because it fits the character, it adds +1 to blocking, and sometimes chopping stuff is more fun than smashing. As for his skills, none of his ability scores change them at all, the only bonus is from ranks. I gave him a low Impervious save because his powers are supposed to be imperfect, historically Crom is a solar god, and he lost his light control powers along with a few other things. He'll get them back as he gains power points. I don't mind being a little weak mechanically if it means the character plays the way I envisioned him. The same goes for his Defense. He has Immutable because it just feels like a god wouldn't like being forcibly altered, it shows the "higher" nature of his powers, like mortal abilities aren't enough to tamper with them. His auditory illusions are another fragment of his former abilities, it's mostly for fun. Sometimes, it's convenient to send out a warning to run for cover to every civilian in a fifty foot radius, and sometimes it's fun to have the power to make awesome fight music play in the background. Everything else has been adjusted.
  18. Okay, new format in. It's apparently better than the one I used, I found I'd short-changed myself a few points.
  19. Characters Name: Crom Power Level: 10 (150/151 pp) Trade-Offs: -2 attack/+2 damage, -3 defense/+3 toughness Unspent PP: 1 Alternate Identity: None Age: Host appears to be between 26 and 30 years old Gender: Male Height: 6’6†Weight: 320lbs Eyes: Green Hair: Red Description: Standing six and a half feet tall, Crom is fairly bursting with muscle. He wears simple blue jeans and t-shirts, with tightly-laced boots and occasioanlly a ball cap. He keeps clean-shaven, but his hair is long and unruly. He works as a bail bondsman when not acting as a superhero, but he does not see a difference between the two occupations. He fights super villains because, in his experience, they always jump bail anyway, so there's no sense in trying to get them to come in peacefully. He doesn't have a secret identity, seeing it as cowardly. History: Ever since the Aesir made their pact with Earth's Master Mage to stay out of mortal affairs, the villainous Overshadow has sought to bind the spirits of other pantheons to his terrible will. One such experiment was to bind the Irish god Crom Cruach into a mortal man. He was partially successful, he did channel the entity, but the Aesir tried to interfere, and the newly-imbued demigod was whisked away to Adrian Eldritch's home on Ditko Street, where the master mage explained things to him. Crom was such an ancient deity, he had forgotten, or lost, much of his power, as well as his knowledge. So, Dr Eldritch taught him about the modern world, subtly steering him towards a more noble outlook than Overshadow had intended. But, neither Crom nor his mortal host were overly intelligent, so his education was brief. When Adrian was certain he could be trusted, he set Crom up with a small appartment and a job, and set him loose on the unsuspecting villains of Freedom City. Personality & Motivation: Crom is very enthusiastic about everything he does. When he drinks, bars make a small fortune. When he seeks a woman's affection, bards would sing of his efforts, if bards still did such things. And when he fights, he fights, a true hammer of the gods. Above all, he seeks to find a place for himself in a world that’s forgotten him, and to regain his lost powers. Powers & Tactics: He is very pragmatic in combat, tossing foes off rooftops or into water to take them out of the fight quickly, and believes everything can be solved by liberal facepunching. He never holds back, but is also careful to avoid seriously injuring his mortal foes. It is a poor god who cannot temper his wrath with mercy. Crom is possessed of great strength, bulletproof skin, an immutable form, and, somewhat surprisingly for those who know him, the power to create sound in a large area. Complications: Crom has no inherent weaknesses, unless you count his impatience, overabundance of confidence, and his somewhat dull wits. In Brief: Boisterous Bruiser at it's best, Crom is a dedicated powerhouse. 20. I for one like the PL 6 option, I'm planning on making an AEGIS agent shortly.
