  1. Cyndi clung tight to Marcus, who didn't protest as they walked through the darkness. He wrapped one of his arms her, his earlier incident forgotten. The haunted house was a standard affair. Cyndi jumped and shrieked, while he laughed, focusing on not being scared. He jumped more than a few times and denied it every time. It was when the lights cut out that things changed. "Oh my god," Cyndi whispered. Marcus chuckled, then swallowed. "Its just part of the show," he assured her. He put both arms around her as the noises came. He knew it was just a show but he couldn't help getting swept up into it. He stopped as he looked at the strange man who appeared. As the man shuffled forward Cyndi began making noise. Marcus smiled. Nice costume. As it shuffled closer he could make out the pale taught skin. Wow really good costume. The creature ran towards them, he felt Cyndi burying her head in his chest, he laughed. He switched to his X-Ray vision. It was just a guy in... "Everyone, get down!" he said as he moved Cyndi behind him. A real zombie! The darkness lit up as Marcus's eyes glowed with restrained energy. Energy he was about to unleash on the charging ghoul.
  2. Ok we think our new HQ will be located in Ashton and Greenville, provided there are no strong objections to that.
  3. Yeah I mean tot post in here but kind of never got around to it. All-Star is interested and more than willing ot back up his team-mates.
  4. Indeed I remember you. Welcome back. And welcome aboard.
  5. Thanks to Blink's quick eye, she caught another flaw on my character sheet. It should instead say Stats: 6+2+6+0+0+2 = 16pp Str: 16/34 (+3, 12) Dex: 12 (+1) Con: 16/34 (+3, +12) Int: 10 (+0) Wis: 10 (+0) Cha: 12 (+1) Combat: 10+10 = 20pp Attack: +8 Melee, +8 Plasma Blast Grapple: +28 Max/ +20 no Super Strength Defense: +8 (+3 flat-footed) [(+5/+3 Dodge Focus) Knockback: -9 Initiative: +9 (+1 Dex, +8 Improved Initiative) The Attack for the Ranged attack was over caps, and the Wis and CHA scores needed to be switched. Irradiated by Doc... for Science!
  6. Hmm I think Interpose is the most appropriate addition for All-Star at the moment, Rallying Cry might be good too, Stunning Attack so I can strip someone of their dodge bonus for a follow up attack. I might start pumping his CHA too so he can become a leader.
  7. Marcus took a big bite of the cotton candy, loving the fuzzy tickle on his face and the sugary rush on his tongue. He leaned over and tried to take a bite from Cyndi's , but she laughed and yanked it away before he got to it, the two giggled and jostled each other as they mad their way through the crowds. He had always gone to the carnival when it had come, back home. His mother would point out the fire, breather or the sword swallower, while his father would tell them how unscientific the whole thing was. Young Marcus didn't disbelieve his father, but he couldn't disbelieve his eyes either. Now he was older and he knew some of the tricks, but his eyes still danced with the jugglers, and went up and down with the dunk tanks. He still loved the smell of dry grass, and warm funnel cakes with powdered sugar. "So," Cyndi asked. "Are you going to win me something, my big hero?" She wrapped both arms around his arm and leaned on his shoulder. "Of course," Marcus said. "Only the Biggest stuffed animal here. I'm not called All-Star for nothing." He had met Cyndi a few weeks back during campus mixer, he hadn't even bothered to hide the fact that he was a super. He would have worn his costume, but the horrified look on her face made him change his mind. She just wanted to be two kids in a park, which was fine, he supposed. He strolled by the target shooting booth, and saw a man in a full cowboy get-up. He nudged Cyndi in the ribs to check out the guy's get up. "I bet he is part of the show," she said. He thought of trying to shoot, but this guy was good. Then Marcus spotted the test your might mallet. "Ok, now we're talking. Baby I'm gonna get you that bear." "Wait lets go to the fun house real quick," Cyndi said. "Huh? This wont take long. One swing." He marched over to the stall. The man at the stall wore a bright yellow shirt, and a faded waistcoat. He had that old but not ancient look and glassy fish eyes. Marcus looked up at the Prizes. His eyes went straight to large teddy bear that was bigger around than his chest. It had a red vest on over its white fur. "One try for 3," said the Carnie in loud voice. "Or 3 tries for 6. How about you sir? You ready to win that lady a prize? Your a big strapping lad, don't be scared." "I'm not scared of anything," Marcus said as he took the mallet. "Stand back baby, let a man show you how it's done," he said, only half-jokingly as he looked back at Cyndi. She groaned, rolled her eyes and tried not to smile. Marcus had a big grin on his face. He had the strength of a million men. This was almost unfair. He swung the hammer. The bell shot up, then stopped halfway where an indicator marked his attempt as 'average'. Marcus froze utter perplexity in his eyes. "No shame son," the Carnie said. "No shame in being average." Marcus felt his face flushing hot at the man's words. "Yeah right," Marcus answered. He began fishing in his pocket for another three dollars. "Why not buy three tries son?" The Carnie asked. "I don't need three tries," Marcus said hotly. He grabbed the mallet, and this time he reared back, this time he was going to put a hole in the ground. He slammed the mallet down. Not only did the machine not shatter form the force, but the bar only went slightly higher than it did last time. "What the hell?" Marcus shouted as he threw the mallet to the ground. "Come on Marcus," Cyndi called, her voice plaintive. "You know these games are rigged anyway." Marcus stared at the old fish-eyed Carnie. What was this guy trying to pull. "Now don't say that," the Carnie cried. "Don't say that little lady. We're nice and fair, provided you play fair with us. Know what I mean son?" The Carnie winked. Marcus frowned. "A nice, young, strapping lad like you, we would never cheat you, you would never cheat us right? One more time, on the house. No cheating. Promise." The flat note he ended the last word with made Marcus wonder who exactly he was talking to. Was he over relying on his powers? He picked up the hammer. It had taken him several hours and a lot of destroyed furniture to get gauge his new abilities, but he had a pretty good handle on where he used to before the accident. His old strength. It was what had brought him and his team to the State finals two years in row. "Marcus," Cyndi called. "You don't have to do this. I don't even want the bear anymore. Lets just go." He barely heard her as he squared hismelf to machine. He found his center of gravity like he had been taught. He raised the Mallet above his head and brought it down. The bar shot right to the top, the clang as it hit the bell the sweetest sound Marcus had heard all night. "Woo!" he shouted as he thrust his hands into the air. A big grin split his face as he slowly turned around fists still in the air. Cyndi yelled happily and ran and jumped into his arms. "See that sir?" the Carnie asked. "Honest folk. No you can select your prize. I take it you fancy this big one up here, we call him Rufus." The Carnie pointed at the giant Polar Bear with the red vest. Marcus breathed deep, the thrill of victory slipping out with each breath. He stared into the bears, big glass eyes. Then he shook his head. "Nah," he said. "Let me get that brown one, down there." He indicated a much smaller bear below the giant one. Cyndi gave him a puzzled look. "What? It looks cool and all but then you have to carry it around all night. Lets take soemthing small." She smiled and nodded. As he took the bear, his eye met the Carnie's. Sudden he felt like he was 10 again, with this father yakking in the background and his mother's arm around him, and a mouth sticky with caramel. Then it was gone. Marcus blinked in surprise. "Ok now, we are going to the fun house," Cyndi said breaking the spell. "I bet you are gonna try to turn this into a competition too." He didn't answer. As he walked away he kept looking over his shoulder but the man had turned his head to the next customer.
  8. Sigh this is true, as you can see this sort of thing is new to me, but I appreciate your continued patience. I thought there was a limit to the amount of HP you can spend in a round. Though I was told it is on the type of thing you can save on. I left you at Stunned because you should have been stunned+staggered but because of my screw up I took the worst condition off of you for free, but I didn't want to completley cheapen the fight by letting you slide. A bad roll is a bad roll.We could reverse it and you can take the staggered condition and lose the stunned one, so that way this last two attacks count as a miss. Then you can spend the HP to remove Staggered.
  9. One of concerns people expressed (ourselves included) is why UNISON would over step their jurisdiction in this manner and what kind of tone that sets for the team. To clarify we are not black ops, we are white ops. If that is a better phrase. We would be a deniable asset in the event of failure all they really do is give us a paycheck and a beeper, but not deniable because we are doing questionable things. The reason why UNISON would come to Freedom is because UNISON is responsible for protecting the globe, and it is safe to say that the vast majority of world wide threats, in this setting originates in Freedom City. It has become increasingly hard to ignore that fact, so rather than leave it to AEGIS they simply want a small fire-fighting team that can head off some of these world threats before they become world threats. Since it is much cheaper than trying to pick up the pieces after Armageddon 54. Also this isn't final. This is what we brainstormed up last night high on soda. We just went with it because we felt it worked, we are still open to brainstorming but we want to finish that by the end of this week. So that means we don't have to be a government organization, it is just what we came up with at the moment and the strongest candidate we have.
  10. Hmmm that is true, I thought that fort saves would start at 10 but after checking the book they start at 15 if you use alternate save. But because it was my error I shall not impose the staggered condition, but Darkstar is stunned. Ok on with my turn. Ok so #1 and #2 Fly in hot pursuit of Breakdown and fire the blasters full power they power attack (18) and (23) so that is 1 DC 29 damage save for Breakdown the other attack missed. #4 and #3 Power Attack Darkstar and roll like crap (8), (12) but (un)fortunately DS def is down to +1 because of stunned. So DS Give me 2 DC 29 damage saves. Alight now for All-Star's action He makes a DC 32 Attack on the restraints which is at a 32 save so the restraints finally break. He makes a move action towards #4 and surges to Power Attack and All out attack with his fist. 1d20+8=17 Misses pitifully so now it is Razor Wing's turn. Breakdown Power Corps 1 Power Corps 2 (1b) Power Corps 3 (2b 1Stag) Power Corps (4) All-Star (Free) Razorwing Madame Zero (1b, Stun) Darkstar (1b, Stun)
  11. Breakdown's flying elbow smashed through the hastily erected shield of Ice the madame threw up, and smashed into her head stunning the Ice Queen. The icewave she rode on collapsed under her as did the iced over machine but the thick layer of ice around her prize remained. "Damn," shouted #1. "We have to protect the client!" With #1 and #2 flew after breakdown opening their blasters to full power. The strafed the streets vaporizing large chunks of concrete and ice, one over charged bolt even struck Breakdown. #4 saw that Darkstar was reeling, from the Madame's attack and pressed the advantage with a full power blast at point blank range. "How do you like this?" he shouted. Even #3 staggered to his feet long enough to reroute his suit's back up energy to his blasters, the beams punched into the shadowy hero. All-Star could feel the massive blows connecting around him, but he was trapped int he most inane manner possible. He threw all his frustration into his plasma blast. The Ice prison shattered under the force. He caught the attack on Darkstar at the end, and took of towards the the Power Armored villain with the #4 on his chest. "All right, now I'm pissed," he said to himself. He balled his hands together and swung them in a vicious uppercut, but the villain was able to dodge it.
  12. Actually 22 I think. I assume you rolled a 4 so I think that becomes a 14+4 ... so yeah 18.
  13. Hmm intersting I may perhaps be interested....please.
  14. apologies the attack is Blast14 (Alternate Save Fortitude).
  15. Ok wow she rolls a 20. How unlucky. She is bruised and stunned.
  16. Madame Zero didn't seem to be enjoying the fight. "It didn't have to come to violence. You could have just minded your own business." Her palms glowed with energy as she fired two crystal blue beams at Darkstar. The airs seems to shatter with a cold that seems to affect even the powerful energy being. Even as it hit the wave of ice she rode slid off further down the street. Taking the device with her.
  17. Ok she rolls to hit DS and she rolls 11. Fiat a re-roll. DS have a HP for that. She rolls a 25 on the re-roll and hits. This is a fortitude DC 24 fortitude save. She is no 50 feet further down the street away from the brawl.
  18. Oh sorry yeah it did. He should be able to break out all the way next round.
  19. (26) (29) (16) Are their results. The damage is energy so you do take damage. Ok damage saves by the corps vs the radiation attack. #2 takes a bruise #3 also takes a bruise in addition to his previous one. Damage save of ensnarement. I'm just gonna go with taking 10 on the snare's damage save. So it takes one damage condition and is now at 23. She saves against the emotion control. (22) Ok so tell me what your hero point totals are now. Initiative: Breakdown Power Corps 1 Power Corps 2 (1b) Power Corps 3 (2b 1S) Power Corps (4) All-Star (Bound) Razorwing Madame Zero Darkstar #1 moves up after Breakdown firing gets a (30). hit Dc 24 Energy damage. #2 fires on Breakdown .. (19). Miss #3 is stunned so doesn't act this round #4 fires at Darkstar (19) Hit. DC 24 energy damage All-Star Power attack with Plasma Blasts on his Ice Barricade. DC 32. Taking 10 so damage beats it by 8. So he breaks the snare but is still bound. Razorwing is up next.
  20. The armored villains attempt to shield themselves from the deadly radiation but #2 grunts as the blasts hits her in the chest. #3 already dazed is unable to protect himself and the blast hammer shim into the pavement. "This is ridiculous," says #1. "Take these idiots down; concentrate fire." With that he and #2 homed in on Breakdown firing their blasters. The agile hero manages to dodge most of the blasts but he was forced right into another. #4 Continued his offensive on Darkstar pouring energy Blasts into the hero. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow how cheap is this? All-Star fumed as he found himself out of the action. Now he was being upstaged by these other guys. The ice was impossibly hard, he found it hard to move his body. Drawing on his inner energy reserves, All-Star let loose a stream of super-heated energy from his eyes. He could see his attack working, the ice was melting, but he knew that energy attack should have vaporized any sort of normal ice. What was this stuff made of. Just you wait, lady you gonna pay for this.
  21. Ok Darkstar you are up. Let me see the damage results first though.
  22. The woman tsked. "Its seems you guys cant do anything right." She raised her hands and the air became bitterly cold as wet hail flew through he air, where it struck the heroes it clung tight until another added on to it, restricting their movements. All-Star quickly found himself encased in thick block of ice as he plummeted form the sky.
  23. Ok DC 24 reflex saves against snare, except for Darkstar since I think the description of his insubstantial allows him to phase through ice. All-Star 1d20+8=19 Doh failed by 5 so I'm bound and helpless encased in ice.
  24. "Hey!" All-Star shouted. "Dont Ignore me!" He flew at #4 and leveraged a mean hay-maker at the villains face, but the suits were more agile than they looked and the villain floated aside before the blow could connect. Stand still dammit! This wasn't going at all as the young hero hoped, but adversity made you stronger. That is one thing he knew wouldn't change in the hero world.
