  1. Can I just say this storyline is not at all how I thought it was going to be? Wow. Okay, we need to fight something now - like, really, really need to, and get us back on a heroic path :)

  3. Grim's heart is beating a mile a minute as the suit begins to open; anything could be waiting inside: a man, a boy, an old man, an intelligent glob of Jell-o, a swarm of those disgusting hissing cockroaches... Her mind is never still, that's just not possible, but the series of images, the possibilities, are flashing through her one after another like a machine gun loaded with hopes and fears. If he's ugly, could she still love him? Just how horrible of a person would she be if she couldn't? Wait, who started talking about love, anyway? This is strong like, nothing else- There is a sharp gasp when she first sees the wires, and it's like a sword of ice right through Renichi's heart; she covers her face with her hands, barely daring to peek through her fingers. My god, he's like a broken doll! He's torn apart - the pain must be torture! But then Grim lowers her hands as she watches in wonder, the broken doll fixing itself like a film in reverse, and horror turns to fascinated awe. She takes a tentative step forward, then another. Her warm soft hand reaches out and strokes his face, the skin now smooth and seamless; she laughs, and it catches in her throat as she quickly covers her mouth to try to keep all the emotions from spilling out in a torrent. Hiccuping gasps, half-laughter and half-sobs, run through her whole body as tears well up in her eyes; finally she smiles, and the warmth and relief it conveys are a revelation. "Hi, Renichi. I'm Lynn Epstein, and I'm very happy to meet you." Lynn crushes him with a surprisingly fierce hug, her hot tears damp on his neck as she murmurs in his ear. "Oh god. I'm so glad you're okay."

  9. The flight over...was fantastic, even better than her youthful daydreams; the fact that she was carried by a hulking metal giant with a skull for a face didn't really bother her at all. Who needs wimpy princes with puffy shirts and girly stockings when you could be carried by a wayward knight, his heart touched by darkness, but still pure and filled with light? Sadly, it came to an end all too soon, and they come to a landing in the West End, the neighborhood she visited so often as a child... Wait, '72? Grampaloo would still be alive, and so would- Grim pushed the thoughts away; there was no time for indulging childhood fantasies, and she didn't want to be like Icarus, wandering around the old neighborhood yelling her name for all to hear. She slid easily down to the ground once they were safe in the garage, almost like a slide in the playground; she affectionately patted Nano's arm as Gravitor continued speaking. With almost no effort at all, Grim shifts herself into something a little more period; the white vinyl boots have returned, along with the wool skirt and tights, and a short velour coat like she saw young women wearing in the street. Her hair is long, dark and straight, cascading over her shoulders and halfway down her back. She turns to face Nano, and he sees her mask is gone! She smiles and shrugs. "It's not like you can really ID me - I'm a shapeshifter, right? Plus I want you to see my real face, even if it's just this once." Grim then turns her back to the metal-clad villain and takes a step closer to the door. "I can leave, if you want, or whatever you're comfortable with; do you need tools or an extension cord or anything?" She starts to turn around, but catches herself and bites her lip. “Or if you need, y’know, clothes or something…†

  12. Grim holds up her hands, palms forward. "I'm not looking to master the mystic paths of Dim Sum or anything like that; I want to learn how to drop a guy, fast, and leave him breathing. I want to stop coming home with pieces of me missing every night; I'd settle for every other night and be happy." She looks down at her knee-high boots and sighs. "And I want to learn first aid, so I can help people after the fighting's over." Grim looks back up and meets Nightrival's eyes. "So how much of that can you teach me?"

  15. It's like someone flipped a hidden switch the way Grim brightens up. "Really? Fantastic!" In an instant and without a moment's hesitation, she practically leaps at Nano as she scrambles up into the big man's arms and puts an arm across his shoulders. "Ready when you are, chief!" She pumps a fist into the air with her free arm and shouts a bizarre anime-tinged battle cry. "All your headquarters are belong to us! Robotuman, Go!" :super:

  18. When she was a little girl, Lynn used to fantasize about a handsome young prince from a distant star flying down to the trailer park she lived in outside of Atlantic City; he would gently rap on the window and call to her softly, and they would fly off into the night together, until they were just two sillouettes lit by the full moon. A dumpy old guy in a suit made out of old vacuum cleaners didn't quite measure up. "Uh...yeah, sure, okay."

  21. Grim rolls her eyes and crosses her arms defensively. "Yeah, I'm just a kid, a girl even. A girl who ran away from home at fifteen and yet somehow managed to survive living in the Fens for four years, three of them without any cool powers, without turning one trick. A girl who rescued three other girls from prostitution and sent them back home to their families." She spreads her arms wide, and the costume covering her belly melts away, revealing several deep cuts and bruises in the early stages of healing. "A girl who goes out on the street every night and gets her butt kicked because she doesn't know crap about fighting, and still goes out the next night and does the same thing." Grim's costume reappears, only for Grim herself to vanish into little more than a vague blurry outline. "I have all the tools, and the will to use them-" And just as suddenly she's back. "But I don't have the skills, the experience. I don't know what I'm doing out there, and I want to help." She takes a step forward, almost a challenge. "Will you help me?"

  24. Lynn nods. "Yeah, okay." Once out in the alley, she checks both ways for any rubberneckers, then turns back to the more experienced street hero. "Um, this is a bit awkward, but, hi, my name is Grimalkin." Her body seems to swirl like gray smoke, and when it clears she is left transformed; similar build, but now with short spiky brown hair, deep brown eyes and a trim leather costume of black and midnight-blue leather, complete with domino mask. That same urgency is in her new eyes and voice. "I want you to teach me; I need to fight crime better."
