  1. Muirne smiled at the boy sheepishly, unsure as to the context of the joke but willing to go along to cut some of the tension when the boy tensed up, spitting out a few abortive sentences and taking off. She looked to Lulu when the girl spoke, blood draining from her face as she realised what that meant. She started running after the pair, feeling the shadows respond to her panic but pushing them back. She couldn't turn into a shadowbeast here. She hated to think of what she might find if what she'd heard of the latest murders was even half true, but if that was who they were hunting, she wasn't going to abandon the pair.
  2. Muirne continued to watch the conversation after her input, feeling a small degree of warmth penetrate the shadowy haze as Mette supported her, and Eira agreeing to let them come take a look. She prepared to follow when Klara offered her hand. She looked up at the woman, still hunched in her shadow, sheltering from the direct sunlight. "Will survive. Need to help... Best to make use of powers." In truth she was dreading heading to the place where the magic apparently came from, but she couldn't abandon them. Klara had helped her when she'd needed it. Despite only knowing each other for a short time she liked the Little Mermaid, she might even be a friend one day. And regardless of what Eira thought of her, Muirne wouldn't abandon her future schoolmate. Muirne drew herself to her full height, significantly greater as a shadowbeast than the waif of a girl she was normally, buzzing in pain as the sunlight struck her fully, taking a step onto the stream. "Should follow Eira."
  3. The Dreamer smiled at Alaynah's comment about asking for more after the created money had been stored. She might even think about producing some more for them after this, since she had given them so much trouble and the Carnifex had threatened to eat her fingers. "I live comfortably enough, but someone asked for my help to right a wrong and I am afraid I have never been one to stand by, even as a child. I am sorry about dragging you into this, but if nothing else I hope that the provided resources salve any harm done." *** She looks over to Zach as he speaks, nodding to Alaynah. "After this is done, if what occurs today causes you any harm in the future I am more than willing to aid you. What I have done should not cause you and yours harm." She takes a moment to memorise the name of the investigator coming with Advay, grimacing. "Let us hope that it does not come to that. You may have noticed that it is not the most pleasant creature." *** The Dreamer looked over the pair, making sure she doesn't linger on Advay, instead focusing on the man she would apparently have to either talk down or subdue in order to apprehend the murderer. He looked like he might be trouble as he interacted easily with Alaynah, and they started onto the boat. The Dreamer hoped that the man would see reason and let her apprehend the murderer, although she had to wonder why he was helping Advay in the first place. Was he loyal to the money? Did the man have some secret that was being threatened? Or was he somehow unaware of what Advay had done and was simply doing a job, not knowing who he aided?
  4. Muirne was glad that she hadn't worn her armour, as she was already suffering from the heat and wearing maille would probably have killed her. Instead she was wearing a loose white silk shirt that covered her arms and an airy long skirt, all to keep the sun off her skin. She was slathered in sunscreen and was still worried that she would be burned to a crisp. She knew how to survive in the wild, but she had learned to live in the wild in England. She'd read into how to survive in a desert so she was also not sure why he was talking about wasting daylight, since by all accounts it was better to travel at night. "Wouldn't it be better to travel at night? In a real survival situation we might not have sunscreen, and the heat would dehydrate us." She walked up to join the group, and might have glared up at Charlie's back as he bragged about his gear, but she would deny it if asked. She picked up her bag, approaching Doctor Macedon. "Could you please explain your reasoning Bodere1 Macedon?" 1 Teacher
  5. Muirne's eyes widened at Lulu's exclamation, something not human? She looked between the pair as Luke continued, eyes narrowing. "Do you know what it is?" She looked to Lulu as Luke asked if she was okay, about to offer aid when she said that she was alright. She was uncertain as to the odd look Lulu gave her, and was about to ask about it when she spoke. How did she know? Did she see her during her visit to the campus and hadn't mentioned it? Or was she just friends with someone who she'd met? The shadows pressed out slightly as she puzzled over how she knew but Muirne pushed them back. It'd gotten harder since Rurland after she'd pulled the darkness of the Shattenwelt into herself in a way she hadn't before, the energy seemed to sustain itself inside of her. She looked back at Lulu after regaining control of her power. "I'm going to Claremont this year. What do you need help with?" She could hear them out at least.
  6. Second Opinion'd! She had Super-Senses 2 (Darkvision) [2PP] and Super-Movement 1 (Dimensional Movement 1 [Shattenwelt]) [2PP] before the edit, and I wanted to keep those. I should have been more clear sorry.
  7. Muirne has Luck 2, so wouldn't she have four HP now?
  8. Muirne smiled slightly at Maggie's comment, "It is longer than most. Muirne is Irish is I remember correctly and Sceadusangere is Old English." She didn't see past the accent, responding after a moment's hesitation. "I've got a rather mixed accent, but I'm from Kent in England. Queens is in New York right?" She looked uncertain as she looked at the people in the room who were looking at her and saw Corinne's wink and looked back to Maggie and Dee, "Do you mind if I excuse myself, I would like to properly introduce myself to the other people I will be sharing the floor with?"
  9. 1d20+5 = 18, any bonuses from having burning hands?
  10. Alice cringed internally at the implication of the possible other ways to pay. No way was she doing this sleazeball any 'favours'. But the alternative... She wasn't going to kill someone, and couldn't exactly just go threaten Teddy, especially with her face exposed. How could she get out of this? She was stuck. Alice stared down at her burning hands, she wasn't going to go out and do what he wanted, but she wasn't going to sell herself to this creep. Could she get the information on suppliers out of Teddy while also following through on the fee? But still, someone might see he- Her thoughts stuttered to a halt as the simplest solution presented itself to her. She could just threaten Billy. "Nobody's gonna figure out what happens to anyone I burn, huh?" She met the boy's eyes suddenly, a grin settling across her face against her will. She puller herself to her full height, staring at Billy's face. She swayed slightly as she raised her green fiery hands. "Well that is helpful. Now Billy, first I want you to tell me where you're getting your supply." Alice waved her hand in front of Billy, her eyes distractedly following the fire. "Second, you will wait outside the gym after school. Third, we are both going to be very quiet about what happened in this room. I don't have anything against you personally, but someone asked me to do this and they'll speak to you outside the gym. I promise you'll be safe but she'll be following up to make sure you didn't lie. If you did you'll probably find yourself very quickly with the police. If not you'll get away consequence free." Alice took a steadying breath, moving on to her least favourite part, "As to inside this room, if you lie to me or refuse to answer the laptop gets it first. Then your shoes, but my hands are pretty shaky sometimes so..." She shrugged before continuing, "Then I burn off your hair, and finally if you're still being reticent I will hurt you. I don't want to hurt you Billy, but I will. If you don't want to talk to me." She shook her head, "As a bit of positive incentive, waiting at the gym will be exciting." Alice grinned, "You'll get to meet a superhero."
  11. The Dreamer's smile remained in the face of Alaynah's suspicion. "To be honest I could have bargained, but you are correct that I have caused you and your compatriots some rather significant problems through my actions and it would be unbecoming of me to deny your reasonable requests." She followed alongside Alaynah into the alleyway, her lips returning to a neutral expression as they marched through the dark. At Alaynah's question as to the nature of her powers she decided to continue with the lie she had come upon. "I can draw items out of a near endless vault of treasures. I can assure you that money is no object, although it may take time to access." *** The Dreamer looked down into the waterway, quickly replacing the griffin with a smaller mount that would fit into the sewer, a clockwork pony made of bronze and brass that ticked with every step into the water. It looked back at her and Alaynah disapprovingly as they walked. *** The Dreamer looked down at the piece of paper that Alaynah had handed her, silently swearing at the quantity of money that Alaynah wanted. The gold was easy, it wouldn't even take half an hour if she made each bar individually, and she could easily make layers of gold bars joined my tiny pieces of gold such that picking one up would cause the joining pieces to break. Bags full of diamonds would be a bit more problematic depending on the sizes of diamonds desired, but the previous trick should work. However, a million dollars in one hundred dollar bank notes was another thing entirely. That was ten thousand notes, nearly a seventeen hours of non-stop creating, ignoring sleep. Could she fuse them similarly to the method she was planning for the gold and diamonds? Unlike the others the paper would not likely have the mass to tear on it's own, and The Dreamer was doubtful that Alaynah would accept sheets of money that were joined in such a way. She knew that a common way of storing money like that based upon what she had read and watched upon finding herself in Emerald City was wrapped in rubber bands. She could dream up a combustion engine, surely linking the pieces with the rubber band so that when they were removed the money would detach would be no problem. The Dreamer nodded to herself, working out numbers. A thousand notes wrapped in a rubber band, each linked to the band by as thin a piece of paper as she can manage, then she removes the rubber band and hands the notes to Alaynah. Ten. The gold bars could be in layers five wide and ten long. Five. The diamonds she could generate a quartet of bags and then drop the diamonds into the bags, causing the tiny links to break. Four and four. Twenty-three generations each taking about six seconds makes it... "I can have your payment to you in two and a half minutes at the outside. Probably slightly less." She looks up at Alaynah, fire in her eyes. "Assuming you have a place to put the roughly three tons of gold. Is that acceptable?"
  12. Alice's eyes widened at the surprising flavour, having not expected something so pleasant. She quietly revelled in the nice feeling, enjoying the flavour and the warmth when she started to get worried about the heat of her hands. She gasped at the sight of the flames covering her hands but it was only moments before starting to play with the fire, waving her hands in front of her, watching with fascination. Her mind flashed back to her thoughts about a pyrokinetic burning down the school and she giggled at the absurdity that there was a distinct possibility that the hypothetical pyrokinetic could be her. ... ... Crap. Alice had no clue what the flames would do or how to control them, and she now owed Billy a favour, which from the sounds of it he wanted immediately. She looked at him through her lashes, head positioned so that she looked like she was looking at her burning hands. She definitely couldn't risk a fight now. While she wasn't the greatest at aiming she was more than capable of not pasting someone with a punch, but adding flames that did God(s?) knows what and she couldn't risk it. For now she'd find out what he wanted. "What did you want the fee to be?"

  14. Muirne spotted Dee as she entered the room and started talking to Maggie and realised that she hadn't responded to the other girl's greeting, too caught up in the sudden activity. She excused herself after her introduction to Judy and headed over to the pair, missing Chronia's obvious display of magic as she arrived. "Hello Maggie, my name is Muirne Sceadusangere. It's nice to meet you." She smiled warmly at Dee, I'm in the room where the movers are, the other girl moving in doesn't sound the nicest. She turned back to Maggie, offering her hand to shake. "Are you going to Claremont too?" She could hear the others introducing themselves in the room, and cringed internally at Judy explaining her hero name and was glad she didn't have to immediately follow that one up. The jump from the bright cheerful Judy to 'My name is Muirne Sceadusangere and I'm from Kent. My powers involve turning into a shadow monster from the depths of your worst nightmares. My codename is Shadowborne because I'm linked to a dimension of cold and darkness that hates the light and warmth of the world and the life in it and is filled with shadowbeasts just like me. Yeah that sounded like it would go well. Maybe she should just move in while her roommate was distracted. Ashley just sounded like Muirne should probably avoid her alongside her roommate. Not as mean as she sounds isn't a high bar to clear.
  15. Muirne chewed her lip as the pair stopped talking, there was another murder and no leads? She couldn't imagine such a thing, even when her family had visited Canterbury for Holy days there had not been so many people as to elude all possible notice had there? It seemed ridiculous that modern police with so much technology and training could not find anything. Unless superpowers were involved... Muirne re-framed her thoughts along that angle. She had done it after all, she hunted Dougal's men, picked them off one by one and they had no idea of what was stalking them in the shadows. People like herself were ever more common in this modern era, and surely she could not be entirely unique in her powers. Someone like her could probably continue to kill with impunity until a counter was found in the powers of the Freedom League. Her thoughts broke off as she saw the redheaded girl collapse, obviously in pain and her friend caught her. Her feet moved before she really knew what she was doing. She quickly found herself kneeling next to the girl, looking up at the boy. "Is she alright? Is there anything I can do to help?"
  16. The Dreamer smiled easily as Alaynah asked about compensation, this would be the easy part since she could generate more gold than every country in the world possessed in a single go. "It is safe to say that I am both willing and able to give you enough to disappear for as long as you want." She should probably check what form they wanted the compensation in, since while she could dream up anything, it would take her a while to dream up individual notes compared to an emerald the size of her own head. "On the topic of compensation however, what form would you like it to take? I can provide you with money, although that will take some time to manage or I can provide you with valuable items or even large quantities of precious metals or stones." If asked how would she justify the items? Most people probably wouldn't believe that her constructs were real, but if she could come up with a convincing lie that couldn't be proven wrong... If the question of where the items came from came up, she would answer it then. For now she looks to the Carnifex as Alaynah demands it's absence and dismisses the creature, a number of dreams that were intimidated into hiding by the demon. If need be she can draw the monster back to the fore, a multitude of creatures swarming to the walls and scuttling out from behind the griffin despite assuredly never being there before. Outside of her sight a large dragon-like creature with the teeth of a rabbit, great spidery hands and a waistcoat peers over the wall, staring at the group with fiery eyes. The Dreamer focused for a handful of seconds, dreaming up a set of wide stairs up the wall and down the other side. "If that is all, shall we be off?"

  18. Alice swallowed dryly as she followed his instructions. She had opened this can of worms, but she had to say he seemed just a bit too into this. Was there some specific reason she Hopefully her powers would protect her from any side effects, but she couldn't really be sure. She lifted the inhaler to her lips, heart pounding in her ears. Was there some way to get out of this? She pressed down on the button and inhaled, praying internally that this didn't go terribly.
  19. Muirne had just walked in, her few boxes piled near the stairs, with the shoe box that had her father's knife and mother's pendant in it. She wore a light grey short sleeved button up shirt and a wine red tiered skirt that reached just below her knees, with a pair of black oxford shoes. She checked her room number for what was probably the hundredth time that day. Room 403, easy enough. She was about to reply to Maggie's greeting when the girl with the stuffed rabbit popped out, and Muirne took the time to wonder when she got here and why she had a rabbit before deciding it probably wasn't the weirdest thing she'd seen at Claremont. That honour went to Eira pretending to be a bear when she visited the first time. She started looking for her room when the blonde with the moving staff started insulting both the bunny girl and Maggie. Oh dear. I have to share a floor with her? Muirne paused to read her room number to know which one to avoid when she realised. She didn't just share a floor, they were in the same room. "Eaw cwæ na1." She turned her eyes to the roof wondering what twist of fate had placed her in the same room as that harpy. Just be polite, introduce yourself and then talk to anyone else. Maybe bunny girl is nice. Muirne's thoughts were interrupted by Judy's introduction and she breathed a quiet sigh of relief. Before approaching the pair, keeping the box on her since she didn't want to leave it unattended until it was safely stored in her room. How safe will that be though? She pushed the thought away, approaching Judy with a polite smile. "Hi, my name's Muirne Sceadusangere. It's a pleasure to meet you." 1 Oh please no
  20. The Dreamer's diplomacy: 1d20+4 = 10 (14 if they find her Attractive) Spending a Hero Point to reroll: 1d20+4 = 18 (+10 due to being below 10 on die. 22 if they find her attractive)
  21. The shadow creature wavered in the light, staring up at the robot. "Saw. Mermaid fought. Won." Muirne managed to force out, before writhing in anger as Eira explainged that no one would have punished him for abusing his creations. She didn't understand why someone would make a robot to abuse it. Eira interrupted her thoughts asking about whether she wanted to return to the plane. What did she mean about her being sick? She hurt but being a shadow in the light always hurt. Why would Eira think she was sick? "Not sick." She corrected quietly just before Klara started speaking. She followed along quietly as they talked about the 'Great Work' and the morality of what was happening. How would just fighting a duplicate help them advance this Great Work and she remembered through her panic that Otaku seemed so afraid at the end. She started to force air into her body to speak for longer despite the pain "Fight was to earn place in Great Work, at end Otaku was scared. Remembered. How does duplicate work? Seemed like real person." The shadowy tendrils vibrated with pain and apprehension as she finished. She didn't want to make Eira angry, but she had to be sure that that fear she'd seen hadn't come from some person trapped forever by magic. It had seemed so real...
  22. The Dreamer had the griffin fly to the ground in front of Alaynah and settle lower so that they are as close to eye to eye as they could be. "I am here to bring a murderer to justice, and my offer of payment was not meant as a bribe. It was payment for services rendered by a professional." She pauses, her eyes filled with sympathy, "I will not spread the source of my information, and if you wish I am willing to lie and claim that I simply used my powers. Now, given what you have essentially said that your client hired you for something related to Advay, know you probably know where he his or will be. Just tell me the location and time and I will let you free." The Dreamer's face hardens before she continues, "Be warned however, if you lie to me I will let the demon decide what to do with you." The Carnifex's grin shows far too many teeth as her eyes seem to glow, "And there are so many lovely things I could do to you, I'd be so spoiled for choice!" The monster starts pacing and counting off on it's fingers "Why there's dehydration, isolation, flaying, hot irons, why even a modern kitchen contains so many potential implements! Have you ever wondered what you could do with a cheese grater?" The Dreamer cut off the demon with a look. "I do swear on my honour that if you deal with me in good faith that no one will ever hear about your involvement from me, and the offer of compensation of course stands. I am also willing to protect you from possible reprisals if you wish it of me."
  23. Another notice check for Muirne: 1d20+10 = 28 Finally a good roll on one of my high bonus skills!
