  1. Cuttlefish

    Oliva had for the most part not been out and about in the city yet. At least not in her suit, no she was still trying to work some small issue out of it and had spent a good amount of time today in the river working on the underwater propulsion system. But now she was trying to figure out why the sonar on the suit had just gone crazy.. The whole inside of her helmet sounding like a drum as she changed direction and turned on the lights on the suit. "I definitely need to put some kind of safety on the haptic feedback in the helmet sys..."

    The suit came to a stop as she could see what had clearly been a bridge a short time ago now in the process of sinking to the bottom of the river. Starting to move again as she started to look for vehicles who might have survivors still inside. Though she knew htat anything powerful enough to bring down the bridge followed by a fall from that height would make chances slim. Her helmet registering sonar contacts all along the river. The suit starting to move to the shore as the suit arms climbs out of the water and onto the shore as she surveyed the damage.

    Thanks for the look over my character sheet. I did a once over and fixed all the things you found.
    I did add a short part onto the back of the History about her wanting to find out what it going on back in her original dimension.
    And I did add a part to the end of the powers and tactics part for the flight not being subtle part.

    HISTORY

    Holly that is to say THIS Holly was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania County in the North American lands of the United Kingdom. At some point early in her life she was the only survivor of a house fire that saw the deaths of both of her parents. And she was subsequently raised as a ward of the state. Her school and behavior while growing up fluctuated a great deal. Bouncing between orphanages and foster families, She wasn't so much a bad child as she was simply a difficult one. And by the time she had reached the age of thirteen she was at the best of times a problem to deal with. Playing hooky form school and escaping her children's homes on regular occasions to go out and stay with friends and some times simply in abandoned buildings.

     

    She was also slowly getting into low end criminal activities not really robbery but vandalism and steeling / stripping out valuable items for pocket change. A activity that often saw her and her friends wandering the city late at night, and it was on one of these nights that she and her friends where in a back ally in down town when a man stumbled in with them. Staggering and then collapsing onto the ground. On closer inspection they found that he was bleeding profusely and had stopped breathing. Most of her friends ran but Holly stopped to try and preform some amount of First Aid. The man seaming to largely ignore her attempting instead handing her a small wooden box while trying to mouth words to her to no real luck.

    She would have kept trying but at that point she both caught sight and heard others coming, at first she thought it might be her friends coming back with help. But instead two men moved down the ally each carrying a gun in there hands. But they didn't seam to notice the dying man until they almost tripped over him. And thankfully they hadn't seen Holly slip off down another part of the ally. She kept going until she was sure that they where not following before stopping to catch her breath. Finally remembering the box she had been handed.

    She checked it looking like a simple wooden box with a flower carved into it, a simple lid held on by a unlocked clasp. Opening it she found what looked like a gem stone. A number of thoughts went through her head, sell it? Turn it in? Hide it. A man had most likely been killed for it. None of these thoughts matters a moment later, the instant she touched it she was hit with a blinding flash of light.

    From that day on she became a hero. Not just a Hero her worlds first and only SUPER hero. The stone having given her powers far beyond a normal human, there where heroes already, but they where all mortals with skills and equipment. No Holly became Morning Glory taking the name of the flower that had been carved into the small wooden box. Yes she was a hero a flying bullet proof super strong hero. And it was never any question, with these powers she could have been a tyrant, but she had already seen enough suffering in her short life, she didn't want to cause anymore. And from the first moment she helped a person, a car crash victim who had been pinned in his car. She knew that by fate or by her own will she had been given these powers to help people.

    And for the next four years that's what she did, she helped people. Not just the people of her home people all over the world. She saved lives, stopped evil doers and even ended a few wars. With nothing to really stand in her path with real power, yes there where villians who by way of technology posed a threat but they had to get the jump on her or team up. And she had help also. More then she did four years before, her actions had lead to a increasing number of people taking to the streets to use skills and inventions to fight crime and help.

     

    Then... Holly showed up. No not that worlds Holly another worlds Holly. Appearing in a twisting portal of magical energy stepping out just long enough for Morning Glory to look confused before she herself was engulfed in the mystical energy and.. ejected. Not where she had been, but rather in the same place in another world. One like her own but so much different. And the most important differences was that here, she wasn't a hero. Luckily the change of outfit and hair between the two was enough to stop the team of heroes that where on location from attacking her thinking she was the OTHER her...

    They didn't however trust her enough to just let her go. And she was far to confused to agree to go with them until the police showed up. And thus started her time on earth prime. This world version of her being a low level magical villain, having stolen some other magical item and apparently used it to trade places with her either by accident or by choice. And this new world was a shock to her system, there where other super heroes. Not only that, she wasn't as far as she could tell even that powerful here. But.. She was still a hero right? She was still a good person she still wanted to help so she simply asked how to help and got a less then impressive answer...


    High school.

    While she is concerned about what is happening back in her own reality, her total lack of understanding how magic works makes it difficult for her to really return as of yet.

     

     

    PERSONALITY & MOTIVATION

    Holly IS Morning Glory even in her old world she was never really that bothered if some one knew who she was. She's helpful and happy almost to annoyance of others. With a can do outlook on life, and while she does have a strong sense of right and wrong she also believes that everyone can reform. Everyone has good in them. So she's never above trying to talk to people, that goes for both friends and foes alike. She believes in people, perhaps a bit to much. And she wants to help people, her personality can come off as artificial or vapid at times, but it all comes from a place of really wanting to be a force for good in the world.

     

    Motivation: Doing Good: Doing good is indeed its own reward. Because it is after all the right thing to do.
    Motivation: JusticePart of being good is always seeking justice, not vengeance. But justice.

    Motivation: Responsibility: If your the strongest you can do what ever you want right? So then what makes some one the best? Choosing to do something good with strength.

    Motivation: Recognition: Morning Glory is the greatest hero in the world.. Just not THIS world. And that's actually really kind of a bummer.

     

    POWERS & TACTICS

    Morning Glory is accustomed to being the strongest and fastest thing around, so she never really developed much in the way of tactics. She does know how to put her back into it, and how to pull a punch. She knows how to avoid getting hit and how to put herself in the line of fire also. But for the most part her strength and speed are what she uses to get most of the work of being a super hero done. Her toughness and quick recovery time also means that she is hard to put and keep down. And her ability to go almost anywhere with no food, water, sleep or air also makes her very helpful at rescuing people.

     

    Her powers are less then subtle, both her flight and use of strength and speed causing a visible collection of white and gold static electricity to emit from her almost like she herself is putting off a huge amount of energy.

     

    COMPLICATIONS

    Honor: As the world greatest hero... Morning Glory is above dirty tricks and fighting dirty. And would never do anything to tarnish her reputation.

    Temper: While she heroic to a fault that does also mean getting mad at the sheer depths that criminals will lower themselves to. And she's not hard to play if you know how.

    After the effect of the Gem worked there literal magic on her Holly was a tall well built girl. Keeping her dark hair and eyes. Indeed she was more or less the same person she had always been, just... better.
    And she more or less stopped using normal clothing after that. First using durable cargo pants and a wet suit top. But as she became famous people started to help her with her 'costume' high tech durable materials. Largly keeping the tight wet suit feel. But adding heavy boots and gloves. As well as a belt, and eventually a cape. Clasped with a set of metal flowers.

    'Power Descriptions' is intended to be where you describe the character's powers - what they look like, how they work. A couple quick paragraphs to give someone an idea of how your character functions in super-hero mode, to help with writing. 'Technological' would be power descriptors, which are already noted down in the Powers section.

     

    Crunch

    General

    What is the intended power level for this character? She's listed at PL10, but as near as I can tell her best offense is at PL8/PL9 (+10 or 12 attack, see below, and +6 damage), and her defense is at PL9 (+9 defense and +9 toughness).

     

    We generally ask that a character meet their combat caps for their chosen power level. This is mostly to keep new players from running into problems in early threads, and to get them a goal to work toward in character design.

     

    Combat

    I can't quite get the attack line to add up: +5 base attack, +3 melee bonus, +2 attack specialization would be +5 base / +8 melee / +10 unarmed. Entirely possible that I'm missing a bonus somewhere, though, they do like to hide. 'Attack Focus (Melee)' would also apply whether or not she's in the suit - if you want it suit-only you'll need to have it as an enhanced feat in the suit itself.

     

    Your melee attack bonus counts for your grapple bonus - assuming the +8 melee bonus above, we'd have something like '+8 / +20 in suit' (+8 melee bonus, +6 strength bonus, +3 elongation, +3 additional limbs), if I've done my math right. Do double-check, though, it's one of those bonuses where it's really easy to drop a number somewhere.

     

    Skills

    What languages did you get with Languages 2?

     

    If this character is building/modifying technology, you'll probably want to invest in Craft (Electronic) and/or Craft (Mechanical); that Knowledge skill is a great investment (and the Disable Device may come in handy!) but it won't cover the practical work.

     

    Equipment

    You've bought Equipment 6, not 5, though the EP tally comes out correct.

     

    Powers

    Representing the ever classic mechanical-arm-deflection as a Shield bonus is really clever, and I like it a lot.

     

    Restricted is a power feat, not a flaw, but I believe the PP cost math here is correct.

     

    Good news - you're overpaying on your super-senses. Dark Vision is 2pp, Infravision is 1pp, Tremmorsense is 2pp (per our house rules on how super-senses work), and radius on all visual senses would be 2pp, for a grand total of 7pp, not 8.

     

    You've bought 44 points worth of stuff in the Squid Arms container, not 42 - the full tally for the battlesuit works out fine, though.

     

    The enhanced skills should note that it's Enhanced Skills 16, rather than Enhanced Trait 16 (which would be very expensive!). You may want to note the max bonus for those three skills up in the Skills section (e.g., 'Climb 0 (+0 / +10 in suit)').

    Crunch: Fixed the PL to 9, didn't know if I was suppose to put down the PL it was intended for or the slot I was filling.

     

     

    Combat: You where totally correct on the attack only coming out to +10 on the unarmed part.
    I however fixed that anyways. Used the 1 point I was overspending on for super sense to pick up 1 rank of Attack Specialization under the Enhanced feats.

    Meaning that its Base attack +5. Melee +8. Unarmed +10 out of the suit. Unarmed +12 in the suit.
    Which is much more complicated, but still works for me.

    That also puts both the attack/Defenses of the character at PL:9.

    Also fixed the Grapple thing, you where again correct on that.

     

    Skills: Fixed the issue with not having the two Languages down. However I put down three language after the skill. You start with a language after all. Let me know if that needs to be done some other way.

     

    As for the craft skill.

    ok so here is my train of thought with that. The example of a super suit character both in the book and on this page has +7/+8 at about the level of skill that power suit creators have. And my character has INT:26. (+8 int mod) And Jack-of-all-tades.. Meaning, she actually has a +8 in every craft/knowledge...

    Character History: Mirray was born on long island, but not this worlds long island. Rather on the island that would be long island on earth prime. On her own world, the name of the island is lost to history. And simple called Tir Dhuchais. A island with the ruins of a city and a population of survivors living in the underground tunnels and caves under the city. A lot was different on her world, and a lot was the same. But much was forgotten also, all she knew was that she was part of a tribe living in man made tunnels. The surface inhabited with wild beasts. Burning sun, sand, and violent natives. The underground was safe, her people eating fish, growing underground plants and hunting game.

     

    And her tribe like all overs had rules, rituals and taboo's one of the greatest was to not go into the 'temples' on the island. Large structures with archaic magical devices. And Mirray like all of her people followed these rules.

    Finding herself in one of these temples was more a matter of self preservation then anything else. Her fishing party being attacked on the surface by the surface dwelling natives and followed into the tunnels, a brave move by there enemies. The other members of her fishing party where either killed, captures or separated from her and she hide herself by first sliding then falling down one of the side tunnels. Finding herself in a "ancient" temple.

     

    She was unable to find a way out. Instead having to live a few days by hunting the vermin in the temple and eating some of the mushrooms and fungus. She would have likely starved to death but in her hunt for a way out or food. She found herself in a part of the temple that lit up like the surface when she entered and a moment later. With a blinding light seamed to pull her apart tiny piece by piece. And then...

     

    She was put back together, on a island like hers. Only much different.
    And having a strange looking panicked teenager with other worldly powers dropped into Earth Primes Freedom city had a understandable predictably outcome. First the police then the Freedom league
    getting involved. But no one was hurt and little real damage caused, The authorities first asking for help with understanding where Mirray had come from. And then once they started to understand entrusting Mirray to the League. They also discovered a great deal about her original dimension from materials thrown into there dimension with her. Indeed most likely far more then Mirray and her people knew. 

     

    Physical Description:

    Mirray is a bit short and board for the stands of earth. She has sink that is a light shade of pink. Her sclera are black with the irises of her eyes being yellow.
    Soft almost 'fluffy' hair that's curly and messy with a small pair of bony antenna sticking up out of her hair. She has a pronounces set of Canines as well as sharp strong claws at the end of each finger where the finger nail of humans on this earth would be. As well as a number of hard sharp spikes located on her knuckles, feet, elbows and knees.

    While still getting use to the requirement to where clothing. She's become quite fond of larger baggier clothing in general. Cargo pants and large t-shirts being to go to.

     

    Powers and Tactics:

    Mirray "powers" are actually just the biological adaptations that per people have developed over centuries of exposure to radiation and harsh environmental conditions. First by way of genetic manipulation then simply by way of genetic stresses. Granting her immunity to most natural bands of radiation and to most poisons. The latter ability allowing her and her people to eat a very wide and some what... distasteful range of foods.

    She posses a battery of heightened senses including, Echolocation and the ability to hear high end frequencies. A accurate sense of smell along with the ability to see well in low light and ability to see into the thermal range with the use of small pits located near the base of her antenna. A pair of insect wings located under slits on her back right around where human shoulder blades would be allow her some ability to fly. And the ability to stick to and climb on most surfaces. She possess the same limited telepathic ability as many of her race though hers is a bit stronger then most. Giving her the ability to mentally communicate in very close proximity with some one. As well as read another persons mind while in physical contract with them. And a ability to accelerate the bodies healing process by touch also.

     

    And finally her people posses a number of hard hollow bone like spikes located around there body used to punch, kick, elbow or knee attackers. All of which are able to deliver a toxic cocktail of chemicals, the effects being disruption of the sensory organs, leading to blurred vision, nausea ringing in the ears and burning sensation. All which uncomfortable. The same spikes also allowing her to shot out a sticky high strength substance not unlike spider silk.

     

    Complications

    Acceptance: Mirray likes this new world, its much less violent and dangerous then her old one. And she wants to fit in and for people to like her.

    Teenager: While technically a adult in her own culture Mirray is biologically still a teenager on earth prime.
    Economically Struggling: While most teenagers are most or less at the economic whim of there parents Mirray literally has no extra money to spend.

    Survival Instincts: Being from a world where almost everything wants to eat you has lead Mirray to develop a tendency to go a bit overboard when she feels threatened.

    Lost in translation: A combination of unfamiliarity with culture, language and human behavior can lead to... awkward interactions at times.

    Prejudice: While not monstrous looking. Mirray is definitely not "Normal" looking. It's not normally a major factor in groups that are accustomed to such things. but out in the general public it can be.

    Poor Literacy: Marray is still in the process of learning to read and wright English.
