  1. The momentary blur of Pacer gave Tanya hope. If anyone could find a missing person it was the cosmic speedster. A split second later, that hope was dashed. She groaned, though the new guy might be of some help. "It would be my luck that he's kidnapped, yeah?" She 'cleared' her throat, putting back on the voice as it slipped for a second. "Well, looks like we have a lead then don't we," she stopped looking confused for a moment, "I don't believe you've mentioned who you are." She smiled, "entrance was cool though." Pulling a phone from under her vest, she tapped out a message to inform her band members in the bus that she would be back in a while. With Jack. She also took a picture of the wreckage, "Insurance is gonna love this explanation," she mumbled, "glad I got the full plan." Looking up from her phone, she looked at the two more apt heroes in costumes. She was wearing a black leather skirt, studded belt, and a vest. Looking more like a guitar hero than a superhero. "I really need to get this hero gig going." She looked to Pacer and Talon, "after this, you gotta show me your tailor," she said sarcastically.
  2. I'll give you a HP if you don't solve the mystery right away, Pacer
  3. Hellfire Mote Hell Girl quickly assumed her 'normal' form. Despite looking like a person, the wings, hooves, and tail were a dead give away. Still, she thought the costume individual had a right to question. Not everyday a demon lady comes out of nowhere and beats up cultists. Though there were some 'publications' that made those types of stories, but besides the point. Her wings folded behind her and she put her hands on her leather clad hips. "So, he's not with you then," she said looking at him, but talking to Pacer. "I am Hell Girl," the crackling echo of her voice emphasized her name, like a signature, "as for why I'm here? That's my bus. Me and my band have a gig in a couple of hours at the bar around the corner. We are also..." Her eye widened, like a light bulb just went on above her head "Pacer," she said looking at her friend, "I don't know why I didn't think about this earlier. Our drummer is missing. You know Jack. The guy with the tattoos about this high and can beat a drum like it stole something." She placed her hands on the smaller hero's shoulders, "how fast can you canvas this city?"
  4. She has 4 toughness. Rolling a 20 would not save her, if minions could do that.
  5. http://orokos.com/roll/706111 24 Toughness Seeing as you have base 25, he falls over
  6. Taking 10, as they are minions, and hitting him automatically. DC 18 Toughness. http://orokos.com/roll/706071 But he's got a Force Field
  7. When the dumpster slammed into the bus, Tanya and the semi-complete band were not ready. She held on to her guitar for dear life not to drop it. Couldn't lose something else today. Looking outside, she saw the dark robed figures yelling at someone on their roof. Was it Pacer? She came out of nowhere and knocked one of them out. She wanted a piece of this action now. "I'll be right back," she said as she twisted her hands into an arcane symbol, "door to door cultists need to get off our lawn." Chanting a few words, she turned into a ball of hellfire with wings and fists, and went through the bus wall appearing in front of the vexed magician. "Lovely day for a spell measuring contest, isn't it," her voice now echoed with demonic flame. "Oh Pacer, you do need to introduce me to your friends," ball-of-hellflame Hell Girl said nonchalantly, "but first." Hell Girl's hand reached inside the cultist's hood and grabbed his face. It she could frown, she would have. "Of course, Wards."
  8. http://orokos.com/roll/706060 Acrobatic Bluff doesn't matter as the knife hits Talon clean with a 28. Be glad minions can't crit. DC 19 Toughness Also, with +4, Learned can't ever hit +15 defense.
  9. GM Seeing her fellow robed figure go down seemed to quicken the knife wielder's reflexes a bit. She wasn't preternaturally fast like Pacer, but she seemed to dodge every blow that came from Talon. "Antisocial? We weren't the one spying from rooftops. What business do you have with the demon?" With a flip, she was behind him, "don't tell me with your words," she whispered into his ear as the knife plunged into his back, "bleed it on me" Learned saw the fall of Brother Nero with shock, and anger, "Brother Nero, you'll have to go back to the lake! But first, let me take care of your problem." A giant ethereal yellow hand appeared above Pacer slamming down, it missed her. It tried to grab her and missed, "stop moving so I can erase you!"
  10. Seeing as he has 3 defense, he takes all 5! That means he cannot pass it without a 20. Being a minion, you dont get that chance and thus he drops.
  11. Mystic "Learned" moves the Martial Artist"Knife Wielder" on top of the bus Knife swings and hits with a 24. Talon needs to make a DC 19 Toughness Powerhouse "Brother Nero" uses his immense magical strength to try to knock Talon off the bus. Knife is going to be in the way though. DC 16 reflex for Knife and Talon. if they fail they do a DC 16 strength or dexterity or acrobatics http://orokos.com/roll/705849 Even though she rolled a 1 on the reflex save, she has +12 acrobatics and evasion 2, she cannot fail the trip check
  12. GM The three robed figures were not amused at the insults to their wardrobe. "We of The Broken do not take our positions lightly," the female said pulling out a knife as she looked over to the male voice one, "Learned, lift." Learned lifted his hands and spoke what could only be described as mumbo jumbo to Talon's and Pacer's ears. The knife-wielding woman landed right in front of Talon and slashed at him with a very ornate knife. The one with the grumble voice picked up a full dumpster clean off the ground like it was a basketball and checked it at the bus, shaking it Talon and the knife-wielding lady had to catch their balance, but the band members inside were now alerted to the presence of weirdness. The knife wielder swung deftly at Talon, hitting him squarely. As the impact of the dumpster bared down, she did a graceful flip. In a robe even!
  13. http://orokos.com/roll/705840 They rolled pretty decent. Pacer 31 Martial Artist 21 Mystic 18 Powerhouse 18 Talon 6 Hell Girl next round and last
  14. Just in case it need be said, Initiative for Talon. Hell Girl will join the fray once the mess gets loud. So as soon as the goons start tearing things up to beat up Talon. All stat blocks are from the sidekick section of Instant Superheroes One is a Powerhouse, one is a Martial Artist, one is a Mystic.
  15. GM "Brother Nero," a voice called out, "you've finally made it." Three robed figures with apparently no skill at shutting up menaced the alleyway. "Our Broken Leader said the demon would be here," a female voice spoke up, "she definitely is of interest if Our captive speaks truths." The third robed figure grumbled out something that the other two did not understand. Looking at them, he pointed to the top of the bus. "Oh, it seems we have a peeper," the male voice said with a laugh, "Brother Nero you'll be recommended for your keen vision when we find the demon."
  16. Samael rarely talked to his daughter - 'Tanya', her mortal given name, or 'Hell Girl', the hero name she gave herself - but he had to set aside that distance every now and then. Demon lords played chess with their unwitting followers and what he perceived to be a big move was coming up. In her hellish dreams she walked with a man who she knew was her father. Though he took on a human form. "You're going to the butt crack of nowhere, Arkansas." They were sitting inside a burning building, drinking tea. Everything, however, felt fine."You've faced a demon before, but never of those scope. I'm not saying they're better than me." He calmly sipped the buring liquid as both of their skins began to slough off. Tanya felt the pain, but could not move. "But you will need allies. The one who disappears. And the one who runs fast." Visions of Pacer and Talon appeared before them. "They're your acquaintances, yes?" She instinctively nodded slowly. "Good. Contact them." He exploded. She exploded. Waking up with a quick jolt, she rose up from her bed in a cold sweat. She could finally vocalize the sheer agony with a the most guttural shriek she could muster from her very healthy and intact lungs. After a few breaths, she... didn't know where either of them were. Talon 'didn't sleep', but she didn't know if that was flexing or he really didn't. Mona, Pacer could be anywhere. Literally anywhere. Lucikly she had the latter's digits. She invited Pacer to any Monster Blast show she could. Hittinng the speed dial, she probably didn't even have to wait for the ring. If the speedster was even awake. As for Talon, she hated making up evil spells on the spot, but the psychic resonance on her gave her a signal to him. A psychic distress touched his mind. He knew it was her. It felt like death. And perhaps it was. She never knew how the evil on the fly worked.
  17. Talon and Hell Girl run into each other for the first time.
  18. Jack was never late for sound check. Yet here they were in Freedom City of all places, missing their drummer. They'd been looking for him all day. Last they saw him he was half down a bottle last night. Still, he never was this late. Tanya and Brandon strummed a few notes as Serena harmonized, but no drummer. It was weird. He hadn't answered his phone once. Two hours until the gig was supposed to start. Brandon and Serena looked to Tanya. "C'mon, you ain't got some of that evil magic juju that can find a lost person," Brandon said half silly half desperate. Serena laughed at the dark tone, "don't worry, man. If he doesn't come soon, she'll drink his half of the bottle. And we'll all split his share," she said as if the threat of losing either would send him through the door of the bus. It didn't Tanya sighed She had already drank his half. "Yeah, I'm worried too guys. Not like him. At all." She pressed her eyelids closed, focusing on her friend. Nope. Nothing. She canted a few gibberish words that sounded magical. But really she could have been shouting for a magical doctor to appear and it would have done the same thing. "Bombay's not in, man."
  19. This was not an entrance, this seemed more like an intrusion. At least the glass was in place. 'Ferdie' was cold. And possibly crazy. Well, not to his own admission. She wanted to say so much, but he had the floor. An angel? Granted she was half demon, and didn't doubt they existed, but she had never seen the holies up close and personal. When her mother asked for a reading of the area, she hook her head, "nope. Nothing here. Yet?" She grinned mischievously, "though I've seen weirder. Like a ranting and raving man who almost broke our door. He better have a good lawyer. I mean what will the neighbors think? We invite loonies in our house? Tsk. And this is the guy you wanted grandchildren from. I'm sure all the little buggers will be high as a kite." Aaliyah knew her daughter's rapid fire delivery was all in jest but seeing as it was in front of the guests. Tanya would have kept going but her mother's stern glare. She rolled her eyes, "shutting up now."
  20. Going through the motions every year. Christian holidays, that is. Everyone showed up to see if Tanya would explode or melt at the mention of Merry Christmas. But she stuck to her kind of folks during these things. Or at least the type. Those around the neighborhood who she'd known forever, mostly. The new people would gawk, or at least, try to get her to burst into the aforementioned flames. But she was enjoying herself at the moment. Her holiday dress, made of red silk and white frills, had a cloak to hide her wings under. Not that she wanted to hide them. Just that her mothers events precluded the way she loped around the house usually. Also the cloak gave her a good place to hide her silver flask. A gift from Jack, her fellow band member. Why wasn't she with them tonight? Because being home on Christmas Eve, and being on Santa's nice list (which she hoped she was, doing her hero work!), meant you got presents. She heard her mother's angelic voice. It meant something was going to happen. It didn't matter if she meant it or not, but with her mother was lilting, something was going to happen. Ferdie. That had to be the most unfortunate nick name ever. Still, the lawyer guy she had heard of didn't sound either good or bad. Kinda square. She took a swallow of liquid pride as she walked to the door and stashed it before opening. "Merry Christmas, Mr Keller," she said greeting him in what sounded to her like her mother's tone of voice, "and welcome to our soiree. I'm Tanya. Nice to meet you." And other such small talk.
  21. Serena was always good with the gigs. Sure The Fens was a beat up area of town, but as long as they were playing, Tanya didn't care. She would play for anyone who'd listen. The extra cash didn't hurt. The cold however. While she wasn't a weenie about it, cold was not her thing. Her solo shred was coming up. Serena could wail like some kind of angelic banshee. "Three, two, one, and," she counted to herself. It was her turn. Brandon and Jack supported where needed, but her guitar wailed. The criminal element was unknown to her, but she kind of expected it in Freedom, no less this area called The Fens. Her being a hero, she was ready for whatever form it took. Except now. Any crook dumb enough to interrupt her.
  22. Hell Girl was thrown off easily by the other hero. It was supposed to be a con, but hey, she didn't know that. "Bee Keeper, uh, sure," she said quietly, "that's cool. I could use the help yeah." She gestured out to the club, "see, I was going to go for the 'getting on the inside' thing. As, if I've heard right, there are some me-looking people after some drugs here." She looked the bee woman up and down, "I don't think we've formally introduced. Name's Hell Girl," her voice echoed on her introduction, "and you are?" She hoped the bee woman was on the same line as her. It would be good for a back up plan if she got in over her head.
  23. It wasn't meat, but Tanya wasn't going to be rude to the person giving her free ice cream. Free is and forever will be the best price. "Thanks," she said poking into the ice cream with a finger and putting it in her mouth to taste, "mmm, mhm," she nodded. "So, is this the procedure for it all? The stories I've read are like 'villain does stuff, hero beats up villain, hero bounces off into the sunset'." Though the comics she read were more than that. She enjoyed the tales you had to show ID for. For various reasons. It was easy to write a beat-em-up, but the stuff beyond that was so interesting. She hoped to be in one of those one day. Or even a beat-em-up. "If we can scarper away from this," she pointed to the lady on the ground, "I need sustenance. The ice cream is good though," she took a bite.
  24. Drugs are bad, kids. So says the half-demon with a penchant for drinking like a fish. But at least alcohol didn't give you superpowers (ones you didn't dream up anyway) or light you on fire (if you drank it). Still, minidemons peaked Tanya's interest. The sight of the Hell Girl in the club after midnight got the patrons swarming. Of course. In their coded lingo, she knew what they were asking for, but she had none. Still these here her leads. She looked at the supposedly savvy 'creatures of the night'. The nineties called, it wants it's culture back. "Ladies and gents," her voice echoed with gravity, "I have not what you want. Maybe release from your mortal coils, but I too am looking for the same thing you are. If you find something, bring it my way and you will be rewarded."
