  1. Jack sniffed the air. This was indeed the right smell, they we're where they needed to be. He turned and looked at Rev, standing up to his full 11 foot height. "This is the place, I can smell the stench of the thugs coming from the shack." He noticed the small crowd following them and walked past Rev with a soft throaty growl. "It is not safe here please stay back."
  2. Jack had picked up the familiar scent of the thugs. His head raised as he inhalled the scent. A translucent haze of colors filled his mind as his sorted out the myriad of scents around him. He latched on to the scent of the thugs and focused his attention on it. A hazey trail of what looked like smoke filled his vision, a construct of his imagination mixed with his olfactory senses. He bounded off in the direction of the thugs.
  3. Lol I kind of figured. We can just say it gave her one too. Lol not outside of his character. Tho she gets his actual phone not the disposable
  4. Seems ok place to stop. Jack gave the mother a number in case there is more trouble. Perhaps that can be a tie in for you AD. Always down to find the source of the super juice
  5. Jack breathed out as the change over took him. His skin writhed and his muscles snapped and twisted as his body transformed. Within seconds he stood on all fours, a white Polar Bear in shorts. He sniffed the air to try and pick up a scent.
  6. Vanya "Jack” Davydov Power Level: 10 (154/155PP) Unspent Power Points: 1 In Brief: Jack is an extremely laid back guy with a love for nature and protecting others. Due to the Animal spirit bonded to him, Jack has become a Shaman, capable of changing into a Polar Bear Hybrid. Alternate Identity: Arctos Birthplace: St. Petersburg, Russia Residence: Southside Occupation: Student/Hero Family: Ivan Davydov (Father), Rada Davydov (Mother) Description: Age: 18 (DoB: September 9, 2000) Apparent Age: 21 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Russian, Siberian Ket Height: 6’6” Weight: 300 lbs Eyes: Blue Hair: White Jack is a giant among teens, and even among adults. He sometimes gets mistaken for an adult at first glance. Jack has strong Siberian Ket features, softened only slightly by his Russian heritage. He has tan skin and white hair. He is extremely well built, and anyone who saw him would immediately wonder if he was on steroids, which of course he isn't, but being able to change into a giant polar bear gives a person very good genes. Jack is a quiet, laid back individual. His beast’s chaotic nature can often make him quick to show emotions like anger, however, and it is a constant battle to keep his temper in check when he feels threatened, friends are in danger, or his territory is threatened. All of his life Jack has lived with nature and taken care of it. He would often spend the entire summer in a tent in some remote location with his grandparents in Siberia, living off the land and enjoying the unspoiled natural beauty around them. Kids would often make fun of him for always talking about nature and different adventures he had had, but this inevitably bounced off his thick skin. Jack is quick to blame himself for everything, even if it is not his fault, and as a result he has a hard time saying no to anyone, and always feels he has to save everyone. Jack typically wears very little, just enough to be modest in most cultures. He typically wears basketball shorts and a sleeveless hoodie, which is often left unzipped. In most climates his body overheats in warm weather, so the lack of clothing helps to some extent. In colder climates he may wear pants. Jack rarely wears shoes, as he finds them uncomfortable. Push comes to shove he will wear flip flops or sandals. History: Jack has always been at home in the wilds, far from civilization and the comforts of town and technology. While he was raised in the city, his heart always belonged to nature, the solitude of being the only thinking creature for miles in any direction. Jack has always had a keen sense of his surroundings, and rarely has ever gotten lost. Growing up Jack had a fairly comfortable childhood. His father, Ivan, is a respected artist in St. Petersburg. He was on vacation in a remote part of Siberia, painting scenes for a new collection, when he met Rada. The two courted for several months while Ivan painted. When it was time for Ivan to return home, he asked Rada to come with him and they were soon married. It was his mother who encouraged his love of nature, herself coming from a long line of the Ket peoples in Siberia. During a trip to visit his grandparents, Jack and his grandfather went on a rite of passage of sorts, embarking on a wilderness survival journey. During this Journey, Jack was gravely injured by a Polar Bear. His grandfather managed to kill the bear, but Jack was near death and a very long way from a hospital. His Grandfather did not think Jack would make the journey, but he carried him to the hospital, nonetheless. Unbeknownst to Jack, his Grandfather, as a Shaman himself, wove together the bear spirit with Jack's and bonded the two together, so that Jack might have a chance to survive. This changed Jack's life forever. Jack spent the next several months in a coma, awakening as a new man, with little memory of the incident. Doctors couldn't explain how Jack had survived, and at the time, Jack had cared little as to the why, just glad he had survived. About a month after his release from the hospital, Jack began to notice changes. His body had wasted away during the coma, and so he had begun therapy to recover his muscle strength, making astounding progress. His appetite increased, eating nearly everything in the house several times over. As his body healed it grew, gaining several hundred pounds of muscle and almost a foot of height in the span of a month. It was becoming clear that Jack was changing into something different. His parents, fearing for his safety and wanting him to have something of a life, sent him to live with his grandparents, away from the prying eyes of the city. It was here that Jack shifted for the first time, coming across a seal while taking a long walk. The animal spirit inside him Awakened at the chance for a delicious meal, and there was little Jack could do to hold back his inner beast. Over the next year Jack worked hard to learn to contain the beast inside, still only managing marginal control in certain instances, but managing to control himself well enough to feel at ease being around people. It was about this time that his parents sent word to him to come home for a visit. He did so gladly, eager to see his family. His Father worked long hours as curator of a museum in their hometown, making visits difficult, on top of inclement weather and long travel times. When he returned home he was warmly welcomed by his parents and told of something wonderful. His father had been offered a job in America. Jack had the choice of staying with his grandparents, or moving with them to America. While part of him longed to stay in the countryside with his grandparents, something else urged him to go. It wasn't long after they arrived in Freedom City that Jack learned about the Clairemont Academy. He had never told his parents about the shift into animal form, he was scared they would look at him in fear, but his parents had definitely noticed his size increase, as well as increased strength and stamina. His parents thought it a good idea for him to go to a private school, and Jack prepares for his first semester of school in America. Personality & Motivation: Jack is the Epitome of “Don't provoke a sleeping bear”. He is very laid back, until you provoke him, then he can often be scary. Beneath the calm surface he has the spirit of a beast fighting to get out. He can be quick to anger when certain buttons are pushed, but he tries to keep control of himself. Jack is motivated by a love for all things. He understands that there is a cycle of life, and he seeks to preserve freedom in its various forms. He seeks to protect everyone he meets, and doesn't take kindly to anyone messes with someone he seems under his protection. Powers & Tactics: Jack is a brawler by nature, his beastial spirit always seeking to prove itself dominant in any situation. He makes use of his heightened senses when he can, but has a tendency to run into things and start smashing. Power Descriptions: He turns into a giant fuzzy Polar Bear/Hybrid.. His attacks are Bludgeoning or Slashing damage with his fists and claws, and piercing with his teeth. His abilities come from the Bear spirit within him, so his power descriptors would be Spiritual, or Celestial by nature. (Magic in simplest terms) He has Soul Tattoos as part of his shaman magic. These appear as glowing tribal tattoos on his skin in both base and bear form. (Think Last Airbender) Complications: Predator: Jack tends to give off an aura that screams 'predator'. This affects people and animals to some degree, inciting panic in civilians who don't know him in his Bear forms. Bestial Nature: Jack is aggressive in his hybrid form, and finds it difficult to back out of a fight, due to his inner beast wanting to prove it's dominance. Colorblind: In his bear forms, Jack can't really distinguish colors; everything looks grayscale. Growls: In Bear Form, Jack is able to speak, however, the angrier he gets the more his bear spirit will take over, which can sometimes reduce his speech to animal growls. 7. He will be to track
  8. "Da." Jack said between bites. "You make good partner...and you are nice to look at. Never hurts." He gave her one of his big grins and took another bite of burger. "It is nice to have someone's back and have it be nice to look at." He added with a wink. He smiled when she gave the boy a burger, glad to see her generosity. He gave one to the mother as well, and patted her shoulder reassuringly. He nealt down beside her and pulled a strip of paper from his now shredded hoodie pocket and pressed it into her hand. "Incase you need help. Ask for Arctos." He said with a soft smile. He wispered the last sentence, a code phrase to ensure they were actually in trouble. The slip of paper had the number to a disposable cell phone. Jack wasn't one to know much about technology, but he had watched enough TV with his parents to understand the necessity. He straightened back up and looked at the red headed beauty. "So what's next on the menu? Care for dessert?" He knew of a nice ice cream shop nearby.

  10. "Da, I can have sense of smell and can track. Perhaps if I had sample of something I could track them..." He said softly. He noticed what looked like a self conscious look on her face and he put a hand on her metal shoulder. "Do not fear Rev, I will stand out as much as you here. You look beautiful with your metal showing." He gave her a small smile. "Perhaps if I concentrated I could remember a scent from those thugs we could use...?"
  11. Jack nodded at Rev. "Da, I am ready melady." He nodded to the boy and his mother. "Please take care, ma'am." He gave them a wave as he and Rev set off. Jack wondered what they were getting themselves into with this...
  12. Jack let the weight of the shack slowly descend to the floor after Jessica had rescued the civilians out from under it. He was careful not to simply drop it, as that could cause more collateral damage. He felt himself shrinking as his bones popped and cracked, all the new muscle and bone suddening decaying and evaporating as his body returned to normal. His skin itched furiously from the changes. He picked up the tray of burgers in one hand and munched on one absently, his stomach roaring with the effort of changing. He noticed the phones out of the corner of his eye, and briefly wondered how that would affect his life...and his parents. He shook off the thoughts, content to deal with those issues if they arose. He made his way over to Jessica about the time the mother was speaking to her, and he was glad that they were safe and grateful to Jessica. The sounds of sirens echoed and came closer, and Jack nonchalantly took another bite of burger. "Well...dis day has become interesting..."
  13. Jack cracked his knuckles and smiled at the boy. "Da, we can handle them." An anger burned behind his eyes as he pictured all the ones this group had harmed... especially Alexa. He looked to Rev, he knew they were strong enough to handle them...but short of killing every one of them, he wasn't sure how to keep them from coming back.
  14. Jack understood most of what the boy had said, and the beast had finally begin to calm down as he listened to the boy try and explain things. It seemed clear to Jack that the local thugs had simply gotten ahold of people with abilities. It saddens Jack to think that anyone would turn to street crime when they had the power to help. But everyone was not like him. The mother returned with Cookies, and Jack was beginning to get hungry, he stomach rumbling at the thought of food. He hadn't eaten anything in a long time, which for him was abnormal. He gently took a cookie to quiet his stomach. "Da, we do not want Innocents in trouble melady." Jack said, agreeing with Rev. "But Innocents will be in trouble if we do nothing..."
  15. Jack's eyebrow raised in suspicion and he felt his anger rising. Had this kid caused the fight somehow? He held on to reason, but barely. He tried to focus on the thugs, they had been the ones who had harmed Alexa...and they had been dealt with. "Lil'one is tough...she will be fine." He said in a curtain tone, trying to keep any anger from his voice. The beast inside was still on a warpath, still hungry.

  17. Jack shook the snow from his foot. "Did you throw a snowball lil'one?" Jack said in his thick accent with a decidedly playful tone. "You'll have to do a little better..." He taunted. He rolled another snowball and threw it at her defenses.
  18. Jack hung back a little so as not to frighten the woman with his size. "Please Melady, we mean you and your no harm." He said in his thick accent.
  19. Jack saw the punch coming and moved his head, the attackers hand missing his jaw. He hoped the whiff would send the attackers into a tailspin, giving Jack an easy attack...but he had no sooner thought that then his eyes saw the concrete frisbee whizzing through the air and into the support beam of the restaurant. Jack's anger flared anew as he saw the innocents in danger. Without second thought he charged towards the support and the helpless patrons. He hoped Jessica could handle the last opponent without him. He heard tearing sounds as both his skin and hoodie were ripped apart as his body began to grow and tear itself apart in order to accommodate his growing frame. Muscle tore and reformed could tles times as it grew, his skin turned pitch black as white fur sprouted over his entire body. His skull cracked and bent into a new shape, protruding with a bear's maw. His hands and feet contorted into claws. He had to duck his massive 11 foot frame to keep from punching a hole in the ceiling. He reached the crumbling shack and put his massive paws under the remaining cross beams to support the weight and keep it from coming down.
  20. Defense: 1d20+6 15 Jack will change and support the shack so it doesn't collapse on the innocents
  21. The punch hit Jack square in the stomach, and a fire erupted in his eyes as the beast within howled in rage. With out thinking, Jack launched into a furious attack, throwing the punk he held at his compatriots, knocking one out completely. He charged the remaining ones and punched on of the punks hard enough to send him flying into the wall, landing with a flop in an unconscious heap. He was breathing a little heavy, but in short order he had dispatched with nearly half of the thugs, only two remaining after Jessica began to do whatever it was she was doing...Jack had no idea what she was doing to them, but they stayed down, so he didn't care at the moment.
  22. Nixed as an overhaul. -Absurdist So after some testing of the mechanics, and listening to advice from a few sources, I wanted to tweak Jack's sheet a little, tweak his stats some and make him a lil tougher in base form, as well as tweak his backstory ever so slightly and bring his Shaman side a little more to the fore for RP stuffs.
  23. Toughness: 1d20+5 24 So Jack will throw the grappled punk at the other two attacking him.
